I brought my dog here to help me treat an ongoing skin condition that started about 2 years ago. The doctor was rude and less than helpful. she would offer tests and leave for me to decide without strong recommendation from her side so I felt compelled to just do them to be safe. she also made me feel that this was somehow my fault since I couldn't pinpoint the exact date when my dog had a returning problem, I was there bc I noticed it again. My dog is very old for her breed and her skin has been deteriorating for some time and this vet was only interested in me buying treatment for symptoms like itch and not the underlying chronic condition. Also all the meds and treatments are very expensive, if you ask for prescription for alternative brand medications, they will not help you and you have to research on your own. Altogether very unhappy with service, stay away. read more

Great Vets, excellent care and nice employees! Took my 150 pound four legged baby for a check up and ER follow up. They called us with the results within a day. There is plenty of parking and it's not too hard to schedule appointments. read more

My dog isn't a regular patient at Arnold Pet Station, but I have brought him here on occasion as this vet is very close to my mother in law's home. In an emergency situation, they agreed to see my dog, but had put me on hold for fifteen minutes to speak with the vet and by the time they came back to the phone, they told me they closed in ten minutes and that I had to hurry. If that was the case, I wish they had just told me to come straight in. Their prices are also astronomical. My regular vet in Elkridge charges $185 for an exam and tooth cleaning, and at Arnold Pet Station, I was quoted $450-550 for the exact same procedure, using the exact same anesthesia. I thought that was really odd. The vets are really nice but the staff definitely doesn't feel the need to give you the time of day and aren't very friendly. My MIL purchases her dog food from here, and their prices are (of course) quite high, higher than most other vets charge for that specific brand of food. I'm not advising you to stay away, but I will say that you need to do your homework before you go rushing into Arnold Pet Station, and be sure that they're exactly who you want. For me, it just wasn't a comfortable option. read more

I cannot rave enough about Arnold Pet Station and their entire staff! From the very first email, to phone call, to visit, everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Our big dog is very nervous and has issues with fear aggression. Dr. Porteous was very sweet, knowledgeable, and did everything she could to make sure our baby felt safe and comfortable! We are very pleased with the boarding services offered at Arnold Pet Station. Our dog knows that when she jumps in the car, there is a high chance she is going to play with the friendly staff at Arnold Pet Station. The services there seem reasonably priced and it gives us a good feeling to know that they are taking good care of our dog - a very active 1 year old lab mix. I will say you need to plan appropriately - they are closed on Sunday and after 2pm on Saturday so if you want to get away for a Friday night, you need to be home before 2pm or you won't see your dog until Monday morning. While they are cared for well during that time, you end up paying for three days when you really only wanted to get away overnight. However, the dog likes the vacation from the family and it is nice to not have to worry for a couple of days. It would be great if they could open up for a few hours on Sundays to minimize the impact on pick ups. Again, we are very pleased with their services and highly recommend them. read more

This is the office that takes care of my four year old Chihuahua, Bam Bam. They take great care of him and Dr. Stern is a great vet. Despite moving 45 minutes away, I still take Bam Bam here for care since I trust them so much. They also offer boarding that is hear is good. All of the staff and techs are so friendly. We took our cats to Arnold Pet Station for 9 years. They took very good care of us throughout our cats' health problems (cats with asthma and allergies can get kind of tricky). On a couple of occasions when I called with a problem they had me go straight to the emergency clinic rather than to them, and in both cases it was the right call (they were good about calling over to the clinic while I was on my way). We've found them to be very caring and accommodating. We've boarded our cats with them (they're the only place we'd be comfortable leaving our cats) on occasion. When I tell them I can't pill our cats, instead of just telling me oh, it'll be easy, the way some vets do, they explained that Cape Drug can compound the meds into tuna-flavored liquid, which is much easier to give! The front office staff is very on the ball about refilling medications and making appointments. The techs are really excellent, and in particular we appreciate Susan, who called over to the emergency clinic every day when our boy was getting treatment for kidney failure. Vets, techs, and staff are very caring and knowledgeable, and I rest easier knowing they did everything they could to give our cats a healthy life. read more

I have been going to this vet for literally 20 years with all of my pets. No more. Just got back from an 'appointment' that I set this afternoon in an emergency situation w my ten year old dog - whose back legs are out and can't bear any weight on them. When I walked in they said i didn't have an appointment (I did) and then they asked if maybe I was at the wrong place. Nice...20 years real personal service. THEN they didn't even try to help us. Told me they were closing...which i do understand there was a mix up somewhere along the line...but how about trying to help us? Trying to set up next possible time to see him. How about customer service? I'll be having his files transferred in the morning. Very disappointed. UPDATE: they did call to apologize but the ship has sailed. read more

They took care of my dogs for 12 yrs. When my current dog had a fast growing, rock hard tumor, they took out less than the bare minimum and told me "Of course we couldn't get margins". I assumed it was incurable. Several months later I realized they didn't try excise enough tissue around the tumor. Maybe because I wouldn't fork over another 125 for unnecessary laser surgery. I also paid for a pathology report, which was wrong. Chesapeake Veterinary Surgeons had no trouble getting "margins" (the tissue around the tumor) but it was a higher grade malignancy than the guess of the original pathologists. My dog is now dying from a lung metastasis that might have been prevented from an early or a proper excision. The owners' excuse is that Vet doesn't work here anymore and I wasn't consulted. Not true, she was the first to see the tumor and did not recommend surgery. read more

Excellent and professional pet care! The scheduling of appointments is prompt, no sitting around with a nervous, frightened pet. Everyone, the front desk staff, the cat greeter (Miss McGee), the technicians, and the vets are friendly, helpful, concerned and informative. We recently had to put one of our cats to sleep and they couldn't have been more supportive. We've gone to Arnold Pet Station since 1997 and recommend them to everyone. They are the best!! read more

I'm extremely unhappy with Arnold Pet Station. My cat had been a patient there for 18 years. She was having trouble walking the other day, and she was out of it. I called and they were like, we don't have anything till tomorrow. Have you ppl ever heard of an emergency? Where is the loyalty? Not only did they not fit my cat in, the front desk came across as if they could've cared less about my problem. They gave me the phone number for the emergency 24 hour clinic, and that was basically it. I had to put my cat to sleep the morning after she was seen at the emergency clinic, AT THE EMERGENCY CLINIC. I would much rather have been in a familiar place with Dr. Carr, who is the only saving grace Arnold Pet Station has. If it wasn't for her, I would've left that practice a long time ago. Not happy with Arnold Pat Station at all. Each and every time I took our pet for an appointment, unnecessary meds were aggressively pushed on me to purchase and on one occasion it was Vitamin E for my pets skin allergy - when I asked if this was the same as another less expensive option, no answer was provided and the dead silence from the doctor was so awkward, so that was obviously my answer. They are very expensive as compared to other more highly rated vet in the same area and they simply seem to put the dollar first in my opinion. read more

Last fall I had to put beloved 13 year old standard poodle down. We had recently moved to the area so we didn't have a vet. The entire staff were extremely helpful as well as sympathetic. They let me cry and take my time as well as made a paw print as a keepsake. They even sent me a sympathy card in the mail. The prices were very reasonable as I called around before choosing Arnold Pet Station. We have now gotten a puppy and he's received excellent care there as well. The prices seem comparable to other vets we've used in the past. read more
