Front desk staff were professional and polite. We did not have to wait long before going back to the exam room. The tech who did vitals for our kitten was excellent. Very personable and kind with our kitty. The doctor we saw was professional and kind. She gave us many opportunities to ask questions and provided us with good information. We left with a new customer goodie bag, which was also appreciated. The facility was cozy and waiting area was clean. My only gripe was that the chairs in the exam room were covered in pet hair, so much so we could not sit down. However that will not deter us from coming back. I have been looking for a new vet clinic & I am so happy I found this one. Although this clinic is kind of far from me, it is worth it. They really take their time here and we've had several visits at this point. The price points are always discussed up front and the front desk people are so nice and informative. My pups and I love all the women doctors! They ask a ton of questions and don't rush us during the visit which I appreciate. The place feels like home, very clean and doesn't even smell like a vet clinic. The only con is that they are usually booked out pretty quickly but that just shows how many people really appreciate the work being done here. read more

Second Time around...new pet of course! So this is my second time using this vet for my new baby!! In my previous life, we used Family Veterinary and always had great service! It is a lovely facing setting a ways back from that road on 450 in Crofton! It's a very nice facility and very spacious! I'm my previous experience, the vets and vet techs were so awesome and always very knowledgeable! However, I recently brought home a new baby!! I needed a vet and went back to a place where I received awesome service! Due to covid is was very hard to get an appointment, but when we got in, I remembered why I liked this place soo much! I've had two visits so far are both were great as far as the visit and the service! My baby Ace is a shih tzu so he's a small breed and on the burst visit, I was given so much information about his breed and things to look out for in the future! He was a little afraid but they were so sweet to him and myself! I love this vet practice! I look forward to additional visits and using them when needed! My only thing is they are pricey! For my first two visits, I never paid less that $175! So the service and bedside manner is awesome, but it domes with a price! read more

This is the BEST place you can take your pets. We have been customers of FVC since 2005. We've only ever owned cats and they treat them like their own. Callie moved from PA to MD with her family, she was 7 when she started going here up until she passed at 18 due to kidney failure. Gizmo started going here at less than a year old but sadly passed around the age of 3 due to a heart defect. Loki was a stray that we found and started to bring here but passed early as well due to liver failure. Baby was 8 weeks old when she started going here. Now she is 15 Venus and Neptune are 2-year-old sisters that enjoy coming in one carrier. I will never take my pets anywhere other than FVC. The care, the concern and the followup CANNOT be beat. So since I live in two different places it is best to find a vet in both locations so I found this vet. Its a nice set up being that the clinic looks like a large house and has warm feel to it. The staff was friendly and one of my cats who I brought seemed to do well with how they handled him so I plan to keep them as one of my regular vets. Try not to sit on the far left side of the entrance though since the staff might not see you there and that was my own fault for them not realizing I was there but would be good if they had scanned the room just in case. read more

My Hazy girl, my 5 yr old pitty, gets scared when she gets her nails cut and she growls like she is some big old fierce thing, which she is not. They are kind and gentle but safe with her. We had an awful experience woth this clinic. First we were moving so had to get my 2 cats vaccinated and when I called the add in the paper it said first exam is free. I told the lady scheduling for us and she said ok I will leave a note in the chart do you have a coupon and I said no it's just on your add. She said ok and gave me the price for the shots witch was 154 so we made appt and took the cats I . My husband told the nurse or reaeptionisg who came tog Er cats about the free exam and she said ok O'Neill talk to the doctor and he said don't take my cats if your not honoring this . Ok nonproblem we will make sure it's honored . Well my older cat had a small fever and the vet said she saw a mass on her belly so she wanted to blood work. Bloodwork was 180. UCLA bit of course donut because I need my kitties to be ok. When it was time to pay they said the price was 455 . They then went on to say they wojkd not honor the free exam because I did t have the coupon. So I told them I'm not paying for this and a manager was gona cal me the next day. So I paid for bloodwork and the shots and that was it. The manager called the next day and said the bloodwork came back normal and Kiki was fine and she argues a little about the money. It like I told her I wanna paying it because I made it clear don't take my cats of your not honoring this because I don't have the money . I took my cat to another vet for second opinion and Kiki has no mass or nothing wrong with her belly and had no fever at all. This place is shady and I wouldn't reccomend them. I was terrified that my cat was sick when my second opinion said there was nothing remotely close to any sort of mass. Also the sooner work from this vet showed no fever . So they just got 180 bucks out of me and made me think my cat was sick Update Thank you for your response to my review . If you have read any of my reviews I have only 1 time given less then 4 stars. I feel like your staff caused much family a great deal of stress and frustration. Any fever under 102 is considered normal for Cats and there wasn't anything that resembles a mass or a spot on her belly of any sort. When a cat runs a fever the things to look for are aides and leukemia and neither test was ran with the bloodwork that you took. My cat at 515 that evening was of normal fever and your vet told me she was very concerned for my cat and I came there k. Such a panic and nothing was e en remotely wrong not to mention my cat didn't get her shots while she was there so I had to leave her behind for 2 days with a friend until a wonderful vet was able to see her and vaccinate her. When your staff came to take my cats I reminded her of the free exam and my husband told her please don't take the cats if you can't warrant this we will take them to the shelter For th 5 dolar vaccines if you won't honor this because we really don't have the money she took my cats then tried to charge me. They also tried to charge me for 2 stool samples and the test ran for the stool when no stool sample was even taken. You set right I didn't pay the exam fee but not because you were kind and didn't make me . It was because I didn't care what your desision was I wasn't paying it . It was made clear that I wasn't. I did pay the 180 for blood work Of course bevaise your vet made me think my cat was sick and I will pay my last dime to keep my cats healthy . We didn't receive excellent care for a good price. We recieved False o formation for a crazy ridiculous price not to mention the stress of my cat possibly being ill. Anyhow we found a vet that is amazing and we have a great chemistry and that's all that really matters . Have a great day and I hope your staff stays safe during this pandemic read more

I've been taking my cats to Family Vets since the mid 90's, first to Dr 'D', and later Drs Varner and Yates (and others). The staff has been wonderful - knowledgable, attentive and caring. I appreciate the time they spend with my cats (all former strays, not always 'cooperative' during visits.) The doctors (and techs!) have a lot of patience in handling difficult animals. During the years there have been some challenging diagnoses and conditions to treat. I felt like the time devoted to my cats shows the doctors genuinely care about their patients. It was a relief to be able to bring my cats in during the past year - they handled the 'lockdown' well, but I'm happy to be able to go into the office again. I have recommended this vets to others and will continue going. read more

I'm very fortunate to have found Dr. Jodi Edwards about 2 years ago. I have an almost 4-year old lab who loves her so much and I know Dr. Edwards feels the same about her as well. Dr. Edwards takes as much time as needed to spend with us even though her schedule is always busy. Dr. Edwards is always spot on with her diagnosis and I have sent people to her as well. They told me the same about how amazing Dr. Edwards is she is with her patients and with them. The staff at Family Veterinary Clinic has been thorough and proactive. These are not easy times for anyone with the coronovirus and they've been fantastic to ensure safety. My husband and I are extremely disappointed with this vet. It feels as though they do not actually care about my puppy and are only interested in making money. With our first negative experience, I called because my puppy was experiencing diarrhea and vomiting. They told me to go to the emergency vet because they had no availability. They added me to the cancellation list and said they would address my concerns with the vet, however they never called back. The next experience he was at a regular checkup and we asked the tech to provide a nail trim. This service wasn't done and she was extremely rude to us and was not listening to what we were saying. She seemed unhappy to be there. The following experience, we needed to bring him in to get his eye checked. They never communicated in advance that he would have to wait all day until there was an opening. My puppy had to sit there for 5.5 hours until there was an opening and he did not end up needing any treatment. I understand they are busy but this should have been communicated prior to the drop off. Lastly, they completely lied to us. At the appointment we asked for his next dose of heart worm medication. They didn't want to give it to us yet because they wanted to weigh him again first. They told me I could call the day before and bring him in to get weighed. We called and now they are telling me they do not have time to weigh him for a week. They do not seem to care that he will be late with his mediation even though he has had worms in the past and they need to do more tests. They should not have told me I could easily call and bring him in when this is not true. I will be finding a new vet who actually cares about my puppy. read more

We have been taking The Mags (our ~5y/o chocolate lab/pit mix - the one in the pic) to Family since we moved to Crofton a few years ago, and are now taking our kitty babies, too. We have seen Dr. Yates consistently since we starting going there, which makes things really easy because she's familiar with our "chitlins". We've been really impressed lately as one of our kittens (adopted as a shelter rescue) came down with a really bad upper respiratory infection. We have been through rounds and rounds of visits and meds, and every time Dr. Yates call us herself to check on our little Hope. The front desk staff - esp Sharon - are very friendly, and the techs are all really nice as well. We've been taking our dogs to Dr. Varner and Dr. Yates since 2001. Over the years they have treated a myriad of conditions and helped three of our Shelties cross the Bridge - all with extreme care and empathy. Their rates have gone up over the past few years, but from what I hear they are still competitive and the newer facility has state of the art equipment and much more breathing room! I have always gotten a return phone when requested and they always follow up to check on how our guys are doing. The icing on the cake is their facility is just 5 minutes from our house. read more
