Now in late January, there are still fall leaves on the floor, which clearly hasn't been swept or mopped in months, if not years. Crumbs everywhere. The sprinkler above the service area appears rusted and out of code. Many of the coffee beans are out, and the baked goods don't look fresh. In the filthy bathroom there's an open bag of Charmin in the middle of the floor, where someone couldn't even be bothered to remove the toilet paper rolls and stock them. My Macchiato was mostly fine, though the beans tasted a little old, and it had no kick (I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine, and that's why I went there). Something is very wrong. I'm surprised health inspectors haven't shut it down yet. There is competition in town, and this place needs a serious reboot to stay in business.

Unfortunately there are not alot of coffee places around Mount Roberts, especially none that were open at 3pm on a Thursday. So YELP to the rescue and what a sweet one it was! Lucas Roasting Company is a small bisiness tucked away in Wolfboro. Pretty standard coffee drinks but #IYKYK - some of the best coffee comes from small roasting companies. I ended up with a delicous iced coffee and took some canned nitro back with me to CT. This year - again we hiked up (and down) Mount Roberts but this year it was H O T - so it was a no brainer where to head to for some caffine and cooling off. This year I met who I think was one of the owners who gave me the origin story (they are originally from VA) and told me that they have been open for a bit over 3 years. There was no cold brew in the cooler but this time it was a Nitro Cold Brew that was ordered and consumed before we made it back to our lodgings. I wish they were closer but it's good to know that they are "just down the road" from my yearly hiking venue.

I am…read morea new customer driven to PCCR 100% because I was insulted by signage and the response of an employee of White Heron where I had been a loyal customer for at least 6 years. White Heron posted a hand made sign that read, NO NO ICE. I went in one day after yoga and saw this sign. It completely flummoxed me (I know, hard to believe, but last winter it did and I didn't get it). After I placed my order I asked what it meant. I got a rude look and sassy reply explaining the sign to me. I was stunned and moved away to the pick up area. After considering what had just happened, I told the barista that I was completely insulted and asked for the manager. I was told the manager was not there so I left. I will never return to The White Heron, I will never refer anyone to their shop all because they couldn't keep their single minded political views out of their business. In Portsmouth, NH I'm NOT the majority, but I was a loyal supporter...keyword WAS. PCCR has thus far shown me a professional, fun and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you.
