Came here as part of a large group and they gave us the entire left side of the restaurant. Everything from the service, decor, to the food was perfect. We had a special menu to choose from and I ordered the lobster bisque as my starter, pecan crusted salmon as my main course, and the chocolate cake for dessert. The lobster bisque was delicious, and topped with a hush puppy type thing. The pecan crusted salmon itself was cooked so perfectly, flaky and juicy, and the chocolate cake was so rich and delicious. **Catered Event: Board of Directors' Dinner** Numerous locals recommended Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant as an excellent choice for formal occasions, and it proved to be a wonderful venue for our Board of Directors' dinner. I hosted a dinner for twenty (board members and their guests) and was especially impressed by the catering manager, who patiently guided me through the many decisions involved in planning the event and personally welcomed me on the evening of the dinner. The waitstaff were attentive and seemed to anticipate our needs, and the private dining room was both relaxing and quiet. We chose the "King's Table," which allowed all twenty guests to sit together around one large table. The room and table settings were beautiful, creating an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere. The event menu allowed me to select three salads, three entrées, and two desserts for our guests. Printed menus were placed at every setting, offering a gracious welcome and making the ordering process easy and efficient. I heard from many guests that their meals were excellent. I especially enjoyed the beet salad with goat cheese and the crème brûlée cheesecake. My filet mignon, unfortunately, was tougher than I had expected. The pecan-crusted salmon looked marvelous, and I found myself wishing I had chosen it instead. The pricing was also extremely reasonable for the quality of the setting, service, and overall experience. Each dinner was $85 and included a salad, entrée, and dessert. Bacchus continues to impress us- one of the best salmon spots in Buffalo! For the past 3 years we have been coming here for my birthday, and we have never been disappointed. To start, the ambiance is romantic and it's a beautiful spot. This time (2/22/2026) we ordered potato pave as an appetizer, which was delicious. We also got a Caesar salad to split. I got the pecan crusted salmon for my appetizer which is amazing every time! My fiancé got the filet which he really enjoyed. As dessert we had the triple chocolate cake - just amazing. My son brought me here for my birthday, it wasn't my choice. The restaurant is beautiful, I'm a senior and I had to use my phone for light. The waitress was very nice and explained everything, we ordered lemon drops and the drinks were delicious. As a small plate I ordered caesar salad, which was different but good, he ordered foie gras i tried it and i didn't like it, and he ordered cured salmon, I didn't like that either, to me it was just too many garnishes on everything. I ordered the filet and that was cooked perfectly, my son ordered tuna rare, and I didn't like the texture of the tuna and for desert we got the creme Brule and that was delicious. The ambiance is really nice, I really liked the lighting and the live music was lovely. The staff were really nice too! Unfortunately, we barely ate the food because it was truly bad. The steak, although pink, the crust was burnt and tasted like nothing other than burnt meat, just not good. The crispy gnocchi on the plate tasted like fast food mozzarella sticks. I was excited for the 12 hour tomato but it was just super lemony. We also got the potato pave, the dill sauce on it was good but barely there, the bacon jam on it smelled and tasted terrible, which made the entire thing inedible for us. The cocktail was not good. Had an excellent meal here on our recent trip to Buffalo. Not one dish was anything less than outstanding. The actual restaurant experience was a bit slow and chaotic, especially initially. It was a Sunday night and we were asked to sit at the bar since we didn't have a reservation (but there were still numerous empty tables that had never been filled by the time we left almost two hours later), so that was strange and a little off-putting at first. The bartender (Andrew, I believe, who was wonderful) indicated there'd been some issues including their computer system going down and it definitely seemed like they were understaffed. Not sure how typical all of that is, but just in case I would recommend visiting only if you've got leisurely time to spare. It was worth the wait. In addition to the calamari-and-shrimp appetizer, my boyfriend and I had the specials: a shrimp-topped halibut over risotto and asparagus, a dijon rack of lamb with herbed couscous, and the lemon ricotta pie with blueberry compote and pine nuts. Everything was cooked to perfection. Best lamb I've ever had, and I was excited to see the lemon pie as it's one of my favorite desserts but not something I commonly see on menus. The vibe is low-lit romantic, with white tablecloths, dark red textiles, and candles in a gorgeous historic building. Definitely great atmosphere. Unsurprisingly, it's a nice spot and the prices reflect that. The entrees were about $40 a pop, and you'll spend an additional $12-15/glass on wine and $18-25 on apps. I went with a friend of mine to hear live music on a Friday night. We did not realize how busy they would be, or we would have made reservations. We decided to have dinner at the bar which worked out okay but I will definitely make reservations next time I go. We started with baked brie. The brie was served warm with pistachios, figs, and a berry jam. I also ordered a sqash soup. I was not a fan that is because I i don't like the seasonings. If I had read the description, I wouldn't have ordered it. My friend, however, raved about how good it was. I had a ribeye which I ordered without the gorgonzola crust. It was cooked perfectly. First the good. Close proximity to Shays if you're going to a show and as long as you let the server know they will coordinate your meal and time for you to get to the show on time. The menu is somewhat limited with a lot of fancy sauces and dressings some of which were uncalled for. Everything we had including the crispy pork belly, the calamari and the roasted chicken were all very good. Service, I would give it a three out of five, I think they were a little understaffed the evening that we went. The bad part was that we took a well-behaved child with us, I know this isnt a place to bring children but we needed to make an exception and this time. There is absolutely nothing on the menu for a child, I even asked if they could prepare a hamburger and they said no. I don't think that was too far fetched or out of the question. My husband and I decided to try Bacchus as he had never been there and I had only been one time for a week event. We went on a Friday evening. The restaurant was not busy for the beginning of the weekend. The restaurant was lovely. The service was good. We started with the calamari and rock shrimp appetizer. There was enough to serve possibly three or four people. But, the calamari was a tad over done and there was very little shrimp. The cost for this appetizer was $18 which seemed reasonable. Because we were sort of full we decided to share the shrimp encrusted swordfish. They split the swordfish and gave us both quite a bit of risotto. The swordfish was very small as it was split but it was still small had they given us a whole piece. For $45 and a $5 sharing fee. We felt it was very expensive for the size. The risotto was cooked well, unfortunately, it was pretty salty. We probably won't be back. There are so many restaurants in the area with really good quality food at the same price point. read more

We have been coming here for many years and never had a disappointing meal. Tonight we shared the Potato Pato appetizer (special last evening) - delicious. How do they get that much flavor in one bite? One of us had the ribeye (huge and enjoyed warmed up today). The other three had the halibut special - outstanding). Service was excellent as provided by Indigo (if you're thinking Princes Bride you are right). To sum up: service and dinner quality were great as usual. Last night was over the top for our party for another reason - the attention to detail to welcome those with disabilities. I have Parkinson's Disease. It is a movement disorder that effects all aspects of your life, including balance, speech, and many other problems. Daily challenges include getting in/out of a car, stairs, obstacles to trip over, standing in in spot for a lengthy period, unsupportive seating, etc. From the moment I arrived, I exhaled relief. We started with efficient and friendly parking curbside. Only a few paces to the entrance that was stair free. The hostess proceed to seat us in extremely comfortable chairs that swiveled and had sturdy arms to assist in standing. As we were getting ready to leave, the valet had our car waiting curbside so no prolonged standing or waiting (we did not prompt this - he and Bacchus personnel just made it happen). A wonderful evening with dear friends, a beautiful meal, and comfort in my safety made this night special. Thank you Bacchus for allowing me to feel like my old self once again. Bacchus is my new favorite splurge. We did a couples night here with friends who are VIPs when they come here. They have been coming here for years, are regulars, everyone knows them, their kids grew up here, love it. On this particular night, my boyfriend and I split the steak and eggs as a app. It is beef carpaccio. It was delicious. I wanted more and more of that beef. I loved all elements of this dish. For my meal, I went with the ahi tuna. It was served with a crispy rice cake and avocado miso salad with an incredible chili glaze. The tuna was delicious, but what stole the show for me was that crispy rice cake. Holy moly! I loved that the rice was crispy. I never ever thought about rice being crispy. It was the highlight and I want my boyfriend to make this for me, or somehow use an air fryer to replicate at home. The chili glaze just put it over the edge for me. I was here earlier in the month and I thought that shrimp encrusted swordfish was divine, but then I had this ahi tuna and crispy rice cake and I further fell in love. Went for a birthday dinner with my partner and the ambience was more casual than I expected to be. Possibly because looking out on Chippewa you see all kinds of commotion happening. We both ordered the New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts ($48) and enjoyed it. For an appetizer, we got the rock shrimp and calamari ($13) which was served in a really delicious glaze. There were small things that somewhat deflated the other wise great dining experience, including not having enough steak knives for both of us at the start of our meals (ever try using a butter knife to cut a steak, lol) and being served the wrong steaks (they swapped our medium and medium well steaks, so my partner just thought they messed up out right and ate about a 1/3 before vocalizing something). The dessert though was divine and since it was her birthday they comped for a dessert and she chose the Jameson tiramisu, which really was amazing. They offer complementary valet service as well which we definitely took advantage of. i'd recommend checking out this place for a nice meal and strongly encourage reservations. read more

Bacchus continues to impress. The food is for the most part excellent. A great server like we had tonight, Ann Marie, compels the fifth star. She took care of our table of eight in the private dining room by herself and kept things moving nicely. Not only is there talent in the kitchen, but the menu planning is very creative, very impressive. The duck was certainly good and nicely seasoned but the accompanying Israeli couscous with pumpkin seeds was spectacular. As was the calamari and shrimp appetizer. I was going to pout because their bouillabaisse was not available tonight and that is usually what I have at this fine establishment, but that forced me to get what I ordinarily would not have and I'm glad of it. The people in my group got a variety of cocktails, which I'm told were all properly made. My double bourbon was a nice heavy pour. The glasses, flatware, place settings were all elegant and functional. Our waitress knew how to pour wine, which is a dying art. The coffee was a bit weak, but I chalk that up to personal preference and not a shortcoming of this excellent restaurant. The desserts were decadent and not too large. If I had any criticism at all, it would be that the water that is served tasted highly chlorinated, even though it was poured from Bottles that suggested it was something other than tapwater. But as I said, our server was so good and so attentive that I cannot give anything less than five stars. read more

I am SO glad we decided to dine at Bacchus prior to the Billy Joel concert this past weekend! What a perfect meal and experience all around. We were the first ones there at ~5:20 - I would say reservations are key here, though, as they filled up pretty quickly after that on a gorgeous Saturday night. We went with two glasses of wine, Col the Lambrusco and me a Rose Prosecco - both were phenomenal and they list is clearly crafted to be a match with all of their menu items. The break and olive oil was thoughtfully presented and flavored. We went with all small plates for dinner and did not regret going this route. We enjoyed the berry salad (every table around us ordered this and it was basic but delicious), gnocchi mac and cheese, calamari & shrimp, and steak and eggs. I would order every single one of those things over and over again. Don't skip the creme brulee! Our server Maxwell was super attentive and everything came out FAST - which was awesome since we were late. :) A meal we won't soon forget! This is a popular spot - it was busy on a Saturday night. We had reservations which were easy to make online. They offer valet parking. Their wine list is great (as a wine bar should be!). We asked our server for a recommendation for a bottle to share since we have different tastes in wines, and he brought us one to taste that we absolutely loved. The wine was the highlight of the meal. We both ordered the caesar salad - it came in a unique presentation with whole romaine leaves, and it was delicious - not overly dressed, and served with potato croutons which were also a unique addition. We shared the cheese and meat plate, which was a perfect addition to the salads for a light dinner. They also serve bread at the table with a delicious oil mixture.
