While the food was good, the service was horrible. We received our appetizers one at a time, 15 minutes apart, our dinner proceeded the same way.. first one came out, 10 minutes later, the second, 10 minutes later the third and then the fourth. Then after my daughter ( the first one who ate) after she was finished her side of spaghetti came. I'm not one to complain much.. I was trying to be understanding.. until we asked for the bill and waited 30 minutes for it.. and 30 minutes again for them to cash us out. Old school, family-style Italian at it's finest. I went for dinner with a friend to check out a place that has been on my list for a while and it did not disappoint. Definitely has a very eclectic look about it but don't let that hokey presence deter you from trying one of the many delicious things on their menu. For dinner I got the Swiss Chard with Sausage served over ziti pasta, while my company got the shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta. I really enjoyed all the flavors and veggies that mixed in well with my dish, and while my friend did like the shrimp scampi they were disappointed that it only had a few shrimp on it. Both meals came with a house salad as well as some garlic knots and I definitely recommend getting it with the house dressing (a red vinaigrette) that was so, so good. Old school, Italian American restaurant in business for over 40 years, that survived the pandemic. Its been quite awhile, since I dined here and was pleased to see that nothing changed, interior wise, or in food quality. Pat, the owner, took extra special care of all the patrons that were dining last week Thursday, I was in celebrating what would have been my moms 75th birthday, and one of her many favorite places for Italian. My entree was the Sicilian Scallops, with a side salad, and side of pasta, along with a glass of zinfandel. Food was cooked to temperature, scallops were seasoned well, just wish there wouldn't have been as much sauce around them. Check out Faso's, call ahead for reservations, as its a smaller restaurant. You will not find a restaurant like this anywhere else. Looking at some of the old pictures this place hasn't changed ever. Food was amazing. Huge portions seasoned correctly. We had a variety of food, including Chicken Parm, baked ziti, Sicilian eggplant and scallops. Food was all cooked to order and served blazing hot, which is the way it should be. Our server Sue was very attentive and hilarious at times. Don't let the neighborhood or the surroundings sway you from going. This was our first visit and will not be the last. We try to go to a different restaurant every week and rarely repeat but this one we will. read more

Dont let the quirky decore fool you, this is definitely a hidden gem! I came here with a friend because I was looking for a place with good food and a place we can have a conversation. This place was perfect! It's family owned and they were very nice. I ordered the shrimp with angel hair pasta and tomatoes, it comes hot medium or mild and I got medium. It was perfect. Good amount of shrimp for the amount of pasta received. My friend got the spaghetti with Italian sausage. She really enjoyed it. We killed our food and we usually always have left lovers. I highly recommend it here. Especially it you want a good home cooked meal in a quiet location. They only serve wine and soda products but they have a nice selection. read more

Four stars includes a 1/2 carafe of wine ;) and also because they let us in 20 minutes before opening time. This is a great place to come to forget about the outside world. It feels like a time warp inside - in a good way. If you're lucky, the green neon will be turned on and you can sit next to it. Yes it's a good place for good Italian food. Parking is on the side of bldg. Pat (owner) took care of us with appetizer suggestions of calamari, spinach bread, fried artichokes . Main entrees were the lasagna (me) and egg plant dinner. Hugh portions and sauce was very good. The ambiance was of the history of this place showing figures, pictures and such of busier times. I like the unique interior, where it is Christmas year-round. It's not a modern place, but I like that it has an older and family type feel. The menu has a nice range of dishes that go beyond just spaghetti and meatballs without getting too pricey. My only minor complaint would be not putting a sign up when they closed; they were supposed to be open but they weren't, so I hope they didn't close for good. read more

Faso's never disappoints, with very tasty dishes in huge portions. All pasta dishes were delicious! The Braccioli melted in the mouth. We couldn't get enough of the bread, straight out of the oven! And the coconut pie....oh my!! Mama and Papa did all the serving and so kindly accommodated food allergies of our guest (garlic, of all things! Mama asked "are you Irish?"). Walking into a Faso's is like walking back in time. It is decorated in tiny lights and ornaments with statuary in every corner. The menu is long but the food is freshly prepared and the prices are crazy reasonable! Four of us ate 4 entrees which include salad and garlic knots, two bottles of wine all for $120!!!! What a fun experience! I recently dined at Faso's because it was on my list of Italian restaurants to try. I had not known much about it, but the little I did know was positive. As far as first impressions go, I could not believe my eyes! Faso's is festive! On a mid-April evening, we were greeted with holiday cheer! Gaudy, lavish, tawdry, yet AwEsOmE on so many levels. I was smiling ear to ear! How funny is that? Sure, some people might be freaked out, but what is so bad about that? My mother said that the garish chandelier reminded her of something you'd see in Miss Havisham's house. Totally. cool. Supposedly, they do not like to take the decorations down every year, and they decided to leave them up! If you saw the intricacies and abundance, you wouldn't want to do it either. Everyone was wearing smiles, and the people gave off a great vibe! The server was a doll, and was very knowledgable, and down to earth. The food is all homemade by "mom." Everything is made to order and if a guest has any special requests, "mom" can usually accommodate it. The menu is very large, and there were various seafood dishes and other Italian dishes you can't get at other Italian restaurants. The linguine with clams was fresh and delish, and the "little knots of heaven," the name given to their bread knots by pleased customers, were warm and melted in your mouth! I also tried their pasta e fagioli, which I get it at many restaurants, and it was the best I've had in a long time! Some of the items that they have on the menu that are not served everywhere include: tripe, braciole, carbonara, gnocchi, etc. I have to add that the cannoli was yummy. Amazing food, this place is old school. The keyword Old. Meaning expect to walk in to a place that's been around for over 30 years. The decor is holiday splendor almost magical and the minimal staff is very welcoming. The Bruchetta was amazing app, the sauce delicious, and the food is hot and made to order. Very very nice dinner at Fado's tonight. I had the Shrimp far Diablo. Wow! It was excellent. I opted to have linguini instead of angel hair pasta. Tons of large shrimp with popcorn shrimp galore and chunks of plumb tomatoes in a rich red sauce. Hubbie had lobster ravioli in lobster sauce. Somehow he managed to eat all of it. Our other diner had the chicken piccata. Again another larger portion with tons of capers in a lovely lemony sauce. We all got garlic knots and salad. We shared stuffed peppers as an appetizer. If you are looking for old school homemade Italian cuisine Fasos on Niagara street is the place. This hidden gem has been around for over 40 years. It's the perfect place to come with a group or just a cozy dinner for 2. This particular visit was just that my husband and I visited on a cold evening in March. Our server greeted us warmly and brought water and menus right away. They do not have a full bar but do serve wine and beer. We started our first course with a large bowl of Chicken pepper noodle soup accompanied with their basket of warm buttery cheesy garlic knots. Boy what a delicious hearty bowl of soup. We dug into our house salads with "mommas" homemade Italian dressing which is one of the best we've ever had. Your salad is included with your entree order. I ordered the Angel hair ala Checca. Which is perfectly cooked angel hair with fresh tomatoes,basil , olive oil, garlic and fresh mozzarella. Oh my!! My husband ordered the Veal Marsala which was a generous portion of perfectly cooked veal in an amazing wine tomato mushroom sauce. The veal melted in your mouth. Served with a side of pasta. Fasos has a fun atmosphere, friendly and competent serving staff, and delicious traditional Italian food. We dined here for the first time recently and will definitely try it again! Homemade manicotti and lasagne were both excellent, and the eggplant parmesan was outstanding. I definitely want to try the pizza and the linguini with clams in the future. The prices were reasonable; beer and wine selections a bit boring but adequate. Loved the crumble blue cheese on the salad and ate 1/2 of my wife's app too (fried artichokes) also came with side of spaghetti and the sauce was deep and rich with just the right sweetness. The minute we entered the door we were made to feel loved and appreciated. The owner said, "hello" and the super friendly waitress welcomed us and told us all about the place, the specials, and the family recipes that are used in the menu items. The decor, while a bit over-the-top, was kitschy and warm. The menu has just about every old-school Italian dish imaginable. Pasta dishes: yup. Veal: yup. Eggplant: yup. Tripe: you betcha. The two of us (not being the most adventurous) opted for glasses of house Chianti and plates of spaghetti and meatballs. Dinners were served with (amazing!) tiny house-made garlic rolls and salad. The salads were a mixture of lettuce, celery, and a Roma tomato slice topped with a home-made red wine vinaigrette. The veggies were fresh and the dressing was tasty with a bit of parmesan cheese and lots of herbs and spices.... but it was poured on with a bit of a heavy hand. The spaghetti and meatballs were a generous portion. The pasta was perfectly al dente.... and the two meatballs large and flavorful.... but the sauce was the super-star. Deep in flavor and perfectly balanced, this was the sauce that was lovingly stirred for hours by a grandmother's hand. Desserts are also made in house, but sadly we were too stuffed to try any. Next time, for sure, even if I have to bring some of my dinner home for the next day's lunch. I regretted not trying house-made canolis or lemon ricotta cheese cake. Three Friends and I had dinner here on a Monday night. We were actually the only diners there, that night. We each ordered a Chicken dish. All 4 of our dishes were absolutely horrible! They were also very overpriced, especially considering that they weren't worth the money, even at half the price! They were mushy and most likely left over from the weekend and then reheated. This was my first time here last night. I would first say don't let the simple appearance deterrer you away because the food inside is amazing. The menu has many options and everything we ordered was great. I had manicotti. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was very good. It was a good portion I took half of it home. Not quite sure how folks can rate the food here high. I had potato gnocchi that was tasteless and bland. Frozen pasta would come out better. My date has spaghetti and meatball and ate maybe 3 bites and gave the rest to her dogs. It was not a great dining experience. The decor is tacky as all hell. It's like Christmas every day at Fasos. I gave two stars because the owners are nice. But the food was just edible barely. It was really disappointing. Old uncomfy chairs. Nothing updated probably since it opened. All around, this little place wasn't bad but it didn't wow me either. It's quite obviously a family business and it unfortunately suffers a bit for it. The restaurant is a homestyle Italian eatery. As such, the same dinner may vary from person to person. For example, the chicken parmesan I ordered was a bit smaller and definitely not cooked as much as the two other orders of the same dish at the table; their cheese was baked and mine was barely melted. It was run of the mill fare with a very sweet gravy/sauce. The salad and miniature rolls underwhelmed. The pasta, however, seems to be freshly made rather than store-bought and screams authentic Italian. Given the nature of the place, it's not surprising that meal preparation takes a while. However, I came with a group of 25. We had pre-ordered or meals days in advance and had set a seating time. Nevertheless, the dinner took over 2 hours from start to finish with at least a half hour wait for the food to arrive for some. Others waited close to an hour as the dish deliveries from the appetizers to the entrees were greatly staggered. This was obviously due to volume so I advise against sending a large group there. The decor has been mentioned previously. It's a shiny Italian Christmas wonderland in there (apparently year-round) to the point of being gaudy in spots. The piped in music fosters the Italian atmosphere in a positive way though. The entire place may seat 50 people and the dining areas are squashed wherever they would fit. The bathrooms follow suit; they appear to be closets at first glance inside and out and are not removed from the dining area in the least. The place settings are evident of piecemeal collecting of everything from the silverware to the glasses. Necessity perhaps but a bother all the same. It's a cute place and not bad for the price at the end if the day, if only for the pasta. I would call it ideal for a quaint date night but not a family outing. read more

This was my second time at Faso's. I liked it so much I had to come back again. I had the Tripe and my date had the Braciole, which I ended up eatiing. The decor is a tawdry mixture of Italian Christmas, the Papacy and vintage Buffalo. Some may say it's dated but I love it. It's charming and quite romantic. The food is also great, my tripe was nice and tender, not too chewy. We also had some wine and Italian beer, pretty big selection of the vino. As for the service it was great Pat and her husband are dears and work to please. I would also recommend this place because it's never too crowded. Unlike other places you can hear yourself think and have an enjoyable conversation without being interrupted by the table next to you. I will be coming back. In my mind one of the best Italian places in Buffalo, as far as food, service, and general ambiance. read more
