I went to dinner with my girlfriends Saturday night . Our tables wasn't ready because they were overbooked so we waited 15 min . We sat down there was no silverware on the table or napkins and it took the server 15 min to greet us . We ordered two salads and 4 pasta entrees . The salads took 40 minutes . The one salad was mostly all arugula . Our pasta entrees came 30 minutes later . The lobster raviolis did not have the crab meat on top it was supposed to have . The papperdelle with mushrooms and short ribs had no flavor . The gnocchis were just ok . The server did not come over and check on us once . amy one gf ordered an unsweetened tea and it came out sweetened . I will never return to this restaurant again . From start to finish was horrendous, we waited an hour and 20 minutes to get an appetizer. Sat down at a table without any napkins, water, or silverware. The waitress didn't once acknowledge or apologize for the terrible service. Overbooked their reservations which most of the places are used to getting away with. When we arrived the dining room was freezing. I like it cold, but this was absurdly cold. There were only a few tables with seated guests. We waited 5 minutes before anyone showed us to a table. We were then left waiting for our waitress for 10 minutes. We placed our order. Then we waited another 10 minutes to receive our drinks. Both drinks were subpar for $14/drink. We ordered an appetizer and entree's. The appetizer never came. The food didn't arrive for over 60 minutes. I gave an additional star (2 total) only because the entree tasted excellent. The bill came and of course we were mistakenly charged for the appetizer that never came. They "discounted" it, but we were still taxed for it. Then there was a credit card usage fee as well. Had a reservation and were seated almost immediately even though it was fairly crowded. Our waitress was fairly attentive since it was crowded and she probably had several more tables than normal. Everything was delicious, I had a veal and shrimp with pasta and my wife had a shrimp / scallop/crab with orzo dish. Tasty. We were seated in a nice corner and out of the main stream of things. Aroma is a nice low key place on the main drag in Ventnor. BYOB a with a local liquor store a short walk away if you forget (which I did). Food was really good, fresh and tasty. Also tried the grilled octopus which was VERY good. My only complaint was that the service was a bit slow, largely due to the fact that they simply need more staff. The waiters were literally taking orders, cleaning and setting tables, in addition to handling any other inquiries that came in. The restaurant was pretty busy initially, which really slowed down the response time. Small adjustment on staffing would definitely add to the experience. But good spot and worth the trip. read more

Marissa and team were pretty amazing. The environment being a bit loud for us, the volume of the patrons mostly, for a Saturday night late, inside dining area meal we could not expect more. Seated us at 8:15pm and we were done and hour and a half later. Really great food but we were also starved by the time it arrived. Let me start by saying our entire party had Tums for dessert. Service was awful. Nobody asked us if we wanted drinks. I had to flag down someone to ask for a waiter after sitting for 25 minutes. So lucky that the woman in the white dress paid attention to us and took our order, she may have been a hostess. She appeared to be the only person working and she did it with a smile. Two salads, both lacked dressing and seasoning. I would have liked salt and fresh pepper but good luck finding someone to get it for you. The Med salad was spring mix not romaine. The spring mix was close to bad, brown spots and the tomato was mush. If I had this at home it would have gone outside for the animals. Get the idea yet? Entrees were edible but not piping hot the way we like and just average food. Mussels in my dish, 3 were unopened and I trashed. I could go on but what's the point. Restaurant was bad when they opened and it's still bad. Save your money. read more

Surprised by the poor quality and clumsy service as the owner of Aroma owns Sapore, too, which is a reliably delicious meal. Our pasta CLEARLY had been sitting around, we had to give it a few spins in the bowl before eating. If we weren't so tired after waiting a very long time, and super hungry, would've sent it all back. Tagliatelle with short rib: lumpy l, bland, needed salt though none on the table. Meat didn't taste fresh, it had a leftover meat flavor - maybe from yesterday's short ribs? Although I know it was not from a can, it actually tasted like it came from a can. Calamari was awful, definitely frozen, like rings of cardboard. Sauce was good, though. My boyfriend loves salt but his chicken limone was nearly inedible. It also arrived 15 minutes after the rest of us had been served. The bread brought to the table.... Hard. Plain. Awful. Again, shocking, as the bread at Sapore is excellent. How can the owner of Sapore run such a disappointing restaurant? Our local diner in NYC cranks out pasta far better than this. very mixed experience. starters ( octopus and beet salad were good ). very disappointed with entrees. can't understand how a professional chef can deliver two entrees to the temperature we ordered. i do better on my own grill. Salmon ordered well came out more rare. Veal chop ($58) ordered medium came out quite well done. While visiting my parents at the shore, we came to Aroma for my birthday dinner celebration. We sat outside; it was hot out, but we were quite comfortable with the breeze coming off the ocean and the umbrellas for shade. I also really liked the landscaping/flower boxes the restaurant had out. These details made me feel like I was eating in part of the restaurant, rather than out on the sidewalk. The staff was also diligent about keeping water glasses filled and were very attentive. We started off with the mussels and clams appetizer. Our server recommended the white wine sauce, and she did not lead us astray...the appetizer was fantastic. The sauce was so yummy, that we all made sure to sop some extra sauce up with the bread. As a second appetizer, my parents and I shared Arugula & Beet Salad. The roasted beets were delicious and tender. The goat cheese was perfectly creamy, and the dressing complimented each aspect of the salad perfectly. It might sound like a really simple salad, but it was extremely tasty and refreshing. For our main courses, my father had the Chicken Aroma, I had the Veal Aroma, and my mother had the Branzino. All 3 dishes were mouthwateringly delicious. The Veal and Chicken Aroma were both super flavorful and rich. The meat was cooked perfectly, the crab complimented the chicken/veal, and went really nicely with the sauce. The cheese was melty and did not overpower the rest of the dish, and the spinach was also a nice touch. Overall, it was a great dish, and I devoured my leftovers the next day. I would absolutely order the dish again with either veal or chicken. The star of the show was the Branzino my mother ordered. It was super tender and perfectly cooked. Amazing sauce, full of flavor. I would also order this upon my return to Aroma. For dessert, we had the limoncello cake and shared it. Super moist, extremely flavorful. Overall, the restaurant was reasonably priced, the food was excellent, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. 100% if you are looking for a place to grab some dinner in the area, I would suggest Aroma! read more

My husband is Italian so we have very high standards for Italian and it exceeded our expectations. All the pasta was homemade and absolutely delicious. Great food and good service! I gave only 4 stars because they first seated us (party of 2) wayyyyyyy in the back alley, despite there being several free tables up front. And I mean like where the chefs must take smoke breaks because the area was covered in cigarette butts and empty monster cans. I should've taken a picture but was honestly so grossed out. We were moved up front as soon as I asked for a citronella candle to keep away the bugs that were feasting on us.. I know many places are pivoting as we are adapting to outdoor dining during Covid-19 so I'm hoping that explains it. Other than that, all was great! read more

Tonight, Saturday night we tried to dine at Aroma. With reservations at 7:00 PM, we were seated. The place was filled to cap[acity. Our appetizers were served at 8:30 PM ! The place was in total chaos. The food was substandard ( we returned 3 portions -out of a total of five) because either it was the wrong order, non cooked dishes or simple inedible dishes. For example the veal dish that we ordered could not be cut not to mention - chewed. Our recommendations, do not go to Aroma on a Saturday night. We ate there last night, and the experience was very disappointing, we had mussels for appetizers, we were served about 20 and six were not even open a little bit, when we asked about this to server she just pointed to the plate and said well they al don't always open just use a knife. Not great on parking in the area. They practice social distancing, just glad it wasn't crowded. Everytime the door was opened, it brought in a breeze, so try not to sit anywhere near the door. The plate on our table was dirty, so they need to do a better job at washing their dishes. I won't post the picture, don't want negative hits on the picture. The staff is friendly, and attentive. Aroma Di Mare Ventnor,NJ After it is usually my pleasure to be giving very positive reviews, my friends and I felt disappointed last night. I'm not looking to put someone out of business or something and I'm sure many people will still go here to eat. But last night we had a bad experience and I'd say if they tell you anything just be sure to 100% validate it and check any extra charges, and if you are sharing, ask them to please bring out sharing plates before you get started so your meal won't get cold. But here is last night. We had a 7:15 dinner reservation for 4. I get there first before 7:15. A decent amount of open tables. AT 7:30 we're not seated, we question it. By 7:45 it seems other parties were seated. We had been told "One ahead of us", a couple of times. Hmmmmm. there were others being seated, not us. ( known friends? They did not deny it when I questioned that.) They were going to split a bigger open table to a 2 and a 4.... Never mind----Suddenly that's full. We see the manager she will see what she can do...nothing. Finally, my friend asks what she can do for us. She says maybe drinks or appetizers he tells her probably only two of us will drink so she says OK and appetizers so we wait and finally are seated about an hour after our reservation . We order three alcoholic drinks. We each order an appetizer and we split the gigantic dinners. We were told by the waitstaff that they were too big for one person. Our waitress was very sweet. We enjoyed the food and everyone's aggravation eased. The bill comes; one drink, and one app was taken off the bill. We ask for the manager to see what this mistake was. Now she claimed she said one appetizer; she didn't say that to any of us and it was not said when we sat to have dinner. And we had pretty much at least triple checked with her. (We wanted a nice evening and even spoke to them during the dinner and said that the food was delicious). Finally, as they were not budging on the bill, they claimed they were talking to the owner. I asked could I please quietly speak to the owner one on one. They did not get the owner. They asked if we plan to cut out on the check. Of course not! It was more about we were fooled into staying. There were various things that they could have said including we are very sorry that there must have been a miscommunication on both sides, but let's compromise. Finally, they had just taken off one appetizer and two drinks. and minus 15% to the bill. I did not want to get more involved in this. I don't like confrontations and figured that's enough at this point. We paid planning not to return. It wasn't just about what they did or didn't do. It was also how they spoke and handled the situation. We were feeling better during dinner, and they got us upset again. I don't think they are really quite prepared to deal with the public or crowds in a nice way. We have no intention of returning. We, of course, still gave the full amount of tip to our lovely Server. By the way, no longer a BYOB. So I hate leaving things unsettled, and I called this morning to speak to the owner. The responses still didn't make a ton of sense as they didn't match what we were told by the staff. He offered a 10% off next time, but I don't know that we would take it. The other thing I forgot to mention is the one meal was enough for four people so each couple split a meal, and actually still ended up with leftovers. The charge for that was about $16 or more additional per meal. But they gave us nothing for sharing. They just brought the big dishes of food over, no dining plates or anything. I guess we were supposed to share it from the same plate? When we first asked for extra plates, they gave us small ones like bread plates and then we requested larger ones. They were going to charging for sharing and not even give you anything to share with? sort of strange!!!! If there is any notice on the menu or anywhere else about a sharing charge, I most certainly did not see it, and I don't know what we were getting for the sharing charge, (as usually you get the extra plates or they cut it in the kitchen or the one extra plate has more of the side dish. $16 for nothing additional was quite ridiculous and added $32 to the bill.) All in all, we felt kind of disrespected and taken advantage of. There are many restaurants in the area to eat, so this won't be a loss to us, but we do usually like to give the local restaurants business. My husband and I had a DELICIOUS dinner at Aroma last Saturday night. They now have a "Sunset" menu price fixed at $40.00 per person. It consists of a choice of appetizer or salad, choice of an entree and a choice of dessert. The choices were varied. The food was so good. We were anticipating small portions. Boy, were we wrong!!!! The portions were quite large. We actually took food home. The service was attentive. The ambiance is lovely: white linen tablecloths and napkins. I can't say enough good things about Aroma. Have been here twice and will continue to go back although not my first choice in the area for Italian. The Chicken Parm was delicious as was the Chicken Aroma. Nice lump crabmeat on top. In fact, next time I go back, I'll get that again unless there is a special that changes my mind. Both times I went (once on a Friday and once on a Saturday, between 7pm-8pm) service was super slow but you have to expect that oftentimes during the summer with the crowds. Just plan to be there a while. Last thing- DESSERT. They had a pistachio/strawberry (or cherry?) mixed gelato which was FABULOUS. I'm going to assuming all their gelatos are delicious. read more

I had the risotto, which was heavy and dark. I think perhaps they used Marsala wine in it instead of white? Someone else in my party had chicken Marsala, which he said was average. The Caesar was loaded with shaved cheese, though it lacked flavor and the dressing clashed with the sesame croutons. The menu was kind of limited, so I would say not great to bring kids who might be finicky. They've got one kind of bread, and that's sesame.
