AUTHENTIC Ecuadorian restaurant ! Finally stopped in. It's hidden in a tiny strip mall on S. Tryon near Arsley. The first time we were there it was Friday, so we opted for the Fish. Hubby got the fried fish and liked it. I got their fish and shrimp peanut soup. Omg it was divine !!! That soup had amazing flavor !!! There was plenty of tuna and a few shrimp. The tuna seemed to sink to the bottom and was a bit dry. Next time I think I would get just shrimp, but the broth was delicious and unusual. We got one savory and one sweet cheese empanada. I highly recommend the savory one with it's melted goodness. I got the flan for dessert. It was good. But my favorite was the morocho that I took home to enjoy. It is a hot liquid beverage that reminds me of rice pudding. It was so yummy !!! We loved this place so much we came back again the next week on a Saturday. This time we tried the beef empanada. Hubby got the pork chops and I got the carne asada. Both came with rice, lentils, and small salad. The lentils were a little watery, but had decent flavor. I put them over the rice and that helped. They have a small jar of homemade salsa that was so good, I slathered it all over every bite of my carne asada. My plate came with tostones that were good and hubby's plate came with maduros. For dessert, I got the morocho to consume at the restaurant. Our waitresses were very nice both nights and spoke English. The owner checks on tables during the meal, which is admirable. My husband and I were the only non-latino people there, which is always a good sign the food is delicious. The first time we were there, the place was decorated for Valentine's Day. This was a recommendation from a friend originally from Ecuador for authentic food and boy was she right! The wait staff was patient and explained the options and how they were served! And the food arrived super fast fresh and hot and most of all delicious!!!! The empanada was cheesy and I don't recall the name of it but in the table is a type of chutney slightly sweet spicey and full of flavor! Hubby has what was a fish stew and gobbled it up! Yes omg yesssss!!! Went in yesterday with my husband and just found this restaurant on a whim while we were in Charlotte. The food is delicious down to the broth and all the amazing flavors. I'm Puerto Rican and love to cook. Never have I ever had Ecuadorian food, and I am in love with this restaurant. The waitresses were as sweet as can be and answered every question I had. But when the food came out, omg I was in love with all the flavors dancing around in my mouth. I asked how long the restaurant had been open, and I was told a little over 3 weeks. Mind you, they were packed. They are truly a restaurant that we needed to visit. The food tastes homemade with that love. No lie, I was so happy that the flavors tasted very similar to when I cook. I was so happy about that. I had the Morocho (Morocho is a thick, sweet drink or spiced corn pudding made with morocho cracked corn) to start. I had never had it before and found it to be very good. My dinner was a churasco bistec style with white rice, fries, eggs, and salad. I also asked for a side of maduros. I usually leave at least half, and I can honestly say I ate more than 80% of my food. My husband enjoyed his chuletas with white rice, beans, salad, and sweet plantains (maduros) We have no regrets and definitely want to return. If you haven't already, go and try this restaurant. Glad to find a delish Ecuadorian Cuisine. Few Ecuadorian restaurants around the country. Non are tasty like back home. I ordered the hen soup (Perfect) and Filete Fish (Corvina) with rice, Lentils and tostones. It was fresh and Great! I don't mind waiting when it's fresh food being served and not food getting overly reheated. I'll be back to try more. read more

Went there today with my wife while visiting Charlotte. It was packed at 2 pm on a Friday which is a good sign. We're from Ecuador but live in Virginia where there are no Ecuadorian restaurants at all, so we searched for an Ecuadorian restaurant on Yelp and found this one. I'm glad to say it did not disappoint. I ordered arroz con menestra y carne, and it really reminded me of home. The meat was tasty and tender. The menestra was great too and the rice was on point. The empanadas de verde were amazing and so was the jugo de naranjilla. My wife had the encebollado and she enjoyed it as well. Service was efficient and friendly. All the dishes were very reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Excellent Latin food! Ecuadorians cook with a lot of love and it shows in the great taste of their food! It was such a wonderful surprise to see they serve Corvina! It's usually just tilapia and trout, the only fish you'll find in Charlotte. Their carne asada was excellent too! And my favorite was the lentejas! I was recently clued in that an Ecuadorian restaurant existed and that it was near me. Finally checked it out and jackpot! This place is a hidden mom and pop gem making some great and delicious Ecuadorian food. I've been several times now and they have not missed yet on anything I've tried. From the empanadas, the bolon de verde, the churrasco, the chaufa, all were a smash. The place is no frills and will look like a hole in the wall, but aren't those places always the best? Services is always good but be prepared for it to be packed on a Sunday. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Being Ecuadorian myself, I wanted to try this spot. The food did not disappoint. The service was great and the only reason it did not get a five star was I ordered a Churrasco. That is supposed to be skirt steak. I didn't get skirt steak. It was really good but not what I was expecting. I hope in the future they expand their menu to include a few other Ecuadorian specialties like a Caldo de Bola. read more
