How am I only now discovering this place after living here for 7 years???? I don't know how many times I've driven past this place and never saw it. I'm so sad. I could have been stuffing my face full of this delicious food! We went for dinner. The place was empty but our server was friendly and awesome. It's like he was glad we were there. We ordered a half dozen dolmas, the gyro plate, and the chicken shawarma and hummus plate. Is it possible to eat these 3 things over and over again for the rest of my life? Everything was delicious and the portions were huge. The "bad" thing was the pita bread didn't taste very fresh to me but it's okay because I shoveled the shawarma and hummus into my mouth with my hands. DInner wasn't hard on the wallet either! Pizza and falafel in one place! Win for my taste buds, not so good for my waistline. The pizza and Mediterranean menu are both equally good. It's not like they just threw a cheese pizza on the menu for picky eaters, their pizza is legit. You can even get a 30" pie which is the biggest I've seen around Austin. A friend told me she had to put the 30" in her trunk to get it home, so bring a big vehicle if you are taking one of those to go. I recommend dining in though because Arpeggio has a great atmosphere. Our server was very pleasant and attentive to drink and pita refills. They have standard seating or you can sit on carpets and pillows and pretend you're a Phoenician goddess, up to you! I can finally check Arpeggio Grill of of my "visit someday" list, but now I've added it to my "visit often" list. I remember eating at Schlotzsky's Deli in this exact same non descript strip mall location near Highland Mall (RIP) years ago, so my expectations were low. They've actually done a great job with making the interior look pretty nice. As we walked in, I couldn't help but notice that there were a lot of middle eastern customers - good sign. They have regular table seating as well as seating on pillows on the floor with very low tables. During lunch, they have a buffet style meal for $7.99. At dinner, they have table service. They seem to have everything I could ever want on the menu and even better, they have it all on a single plate called the mesa platter. We ordered one of these and a beer shawerma plate to share. Unfortunately, no beer - just soda and water. The mesa platter was great - everything on it was absolutely fabulous. Some of the best hummus, falafel and tabouleh (very fresh) I've ever had. Unfortunately, we were there very late and my beer shawerma was a bit on the tough and dry side, although the flavor was very good. I'm guessing it had been sitting a while. Regardless, I'm very excited to have this place so close to my house - I will definitely be visiting again, especially for lunch. I came here for dinner with my friends after starting my new job, so it was a big day for me. It only got better when I discovered this place, which we only saw when driving by - what a pleasant surprise! I was SUPER hungry, so I ordered a bunch of food - Mashawi Platter, dolma, and cream baklava. It was all AMAZING. I was so full, but oh so happy. In addition to the great food, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was excellent. Some very friendly people absolutely helped put this place at the 5 star level. I think this place was just ok. The atmosphere was nice and they have seating on the floor with cushions. The food was not up to my standards and the gyro meat was good but sort of salty. I did not care for the watery lentil soup. The Greek salad did not taste fresh and I had difficulty finding feta chunks and could only dig up three kalmata olives. The staff was friendly and explained everything clearly. They do have a lunch option where you can select meat and sides from tray or you can order off the menu. Why only three stars... because the food all came out at the same time otherwise they probably would have gotten another star, and I'm feeling generous. read more

Popped in for lunch today. Everything was incredible and well priced. I thoroughly enjoyed the gyro lunch special with lentil rice, chickpea salad, and tabbouleh. The garlic bread was nice as well. My partner in lunching had the chicken shawarma, dolmas, roasted veg, and falafel. The dolmas. You guys. Yum. Even the lentil rice, which is usually a dollup of disappointment at any other establishment, was flavorful and harmonized well with all the other random things we ate en masse. We are staying in Dell Children's while my son is receiving chemo, Greek sounded pretty good for dinner. Ordering food from here wasn't such a good idea. The pita bread that comes with hummus was so thin and tough. We felt like we were eating beef jerky. I didn't mind it being thin, but it was unpleasant to chew... I ordered a gyro salad with no onions and no bell peppers. Of course when I open my salad there were loads of bell peppers in it. I expected to see quite a few other topping along with my salad. I got two slices of tomatoes and 3.5 pieces of feta cheese. On top on that, the gyro meat was so dry. The salad dressing and tzatziki sauce tasted store-bought. The only good thing about this meal was the flavor of the meat and the hummus. That's it. I'm sad I wasted my money on this place. read more

Had a great meal here that was very reasonably priced. The service is excellent. They have a sweet little set up with floor pillows too if you prefer to eat on the ground. One of the most unusual things I noticed about this place is that in addition to serving up great mediterranean food, it's also a legit wing place. I came here for lunch with some co-workers. I thought the food was decent. My co-worker informed me they were often out of the beef shwarma, so we all ordered it. It came with salad, pita bread, grilled beef slices, and 3 sides. The salad was just ok. The beef slices were really good. For the sides, I chose babaghanus, falafel, and dolma. The babaghanus was under-salted and bland. I have had much better ones in other places. The falafel and dolma were decent. For a lunch place, it's ok. Love this place! I'm always torn when I come here, do I want really amazing Mediterranean food or really awesome pizza! It really just depends on what I'm craving, but sometimes that is a really tough question. I've had the lamb multiple times and it is always super tasty! The baba ganoush is really good with their pita bread. My mom loves the Greek salad which is huge and my boyfriend likes the Gyros. The Greek pizza is a favorite of mine too. We've ordered delivery a couple of times. It is always on time and the wait never seems too long. We ordered their "giant" sized pizza recently out of curiosity, and OMG! It barely fit through our doorway! We ate pizza for a week, but it would be a great option for parties. The slices are so large, you only need one or two per person, and 16 slices come on a "giant". I'm always a bit confused when I come here because it is never super busy. It might be because we mainly come for Sunday lunch, but they are never super packed. This place is so good and I tell people about it all the time. I'm guessing Sunday is just a slow day. But I highly recommend this place. Admittedly, Papa Johns has been our go-to for pizza, but I think we're all PJ'd out! Stopped by this local gem a few weeks back looking for something to break the monotony. At first glance I felt very underwhelmed and even a little confused. A Greek restaurant with an Italian name that serves burgers........hmmmmm. I was tempted to turn around, but my hunger pangs dragged me in and boy am I glad! While I wasn't there for the Greek Buffett, which looked amazing, I could see those dining in with plates filled to capacity. Always a good sign! We ordered the Arpeggio pizza to-go along with wings and a cheesecake. While priced a couple of dollars more that PJ's, I can definitely see Arpeggio being our go to. Everything we ordered was fresh with great flavors. Plus, any place that serves cheesecake has my vote, lol! On my next visit I plan to dine in. You should too! read more

Came here to eat on a Monday night. The place is really good. We had an XL pizza half meat lovers half veggies. The food tasted fresh and tye service was great. The guy mentioned he had been working there for 7 years and he obviously knew what he was talking about. Another visit in the near future is a definite possibility. I only wish they had a south Austin location so I would not have to drive 14 miles through Austin traffic. It is worth the drive though. read more

This restaurant was, and has always been, a go-to spot for great Greek and Mediterranean cuisine! We had the chicken salad and falafel, which was perfectly cooked. You can really tell all of their food is homemade and made very well. This was my first time back since the pandemic started, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming, but still mindful of the boundaries which covid-19 limits restaurants to as far as dine-in goes. They have both outdoor and indoor seating, which can be reserved in advance, or taken upon walking in. All-in-all a great spot! read more

Definitely going to go back. I didn't have to wait long for my food, but thats maybe because i went at the right time, because the place was empty at 3pm or so on a saturday:D. I ordered the Gyro Plate and by the time i reached my last bites i was stuffed. Meat was very good. Salad was good. My only complaint was the bread. I would have loved a whole slice of pita bread as opposed to several cut up triangles, which would have amounted to at least 2 or 3 slices anyways. But i dealt with it like a champ. I definitely recommend it, and if possible go with friends and each order something different. That way ya'll can share off each others plates. Well, unless you truly know what you want and only want THAT dish. I am semi new to Greek/Mediterranean food. SO, i like trying it all. read more

I am a first time patron and I have to say what I saw at the counter impressed me. The soup/salad lunch special is affordable with nice portions. The Greek salad was fresh and crisp (so important) I especially love the hummus! Yummy! The tzatziki sauce, babaganoush and salad dressing all were absolutely delicious. Not knowing portion size, I also ordered a small cheese pizza, but after one slice saved the rest for dinner. Very good crust. Hand tossed, slightly sweet with a good chew. Good portion of cheese. Pretty much perfect IMO. I just loved the hummus more! That pizza will taste great cold or reheated I'm sure of it! This place is truly a hidden gem!! I am so happy we stumbled upon one of the best gyro and pizza joints I have had since overseas. The decorations and ambiance is right on, they also have a traditional Mediterranean floor cushion seating available but no kids in that area. Of course standard table seating is available, which can accommodate larger groups. The service was incredible, so polite just overall the best restaurant I have visited. I can't believe the restaurant's been open since 2005 and I went to UT for a few years after and had never heard of this place. The ambiance is fantastic, the servers knowledgeable and friendly, and the restaurant is spacious. It is also set up uniquely in that they have areas on the outside where patrons can sit on the floor to experience the traditional seating. A group of friends and I came for Sunday lunch and sat on the floor and we enjoyed the casual, laid back and comfortable seating. The hummus is just ok, it wasn't anything spectacular and memorable. The baba ghanouj was very tasty so I recommend ordering that. The chicken kabob had a considerable sized portion perfect for my tummy and the meat was flavorful and tender. I liked that they offered by default dressing on the side since most restaurants always have the salad with dressing pre-made. I tried a bite of my sister's GYRO and it was delicious. My hubby ordered the garlic chicken pizza and enjoyed every bite. I wasn't a fan of the crust but the flavors of the cheese, garlic and chicken combined together was good. The food was really good but lacked freshness in some aspects: I.e. The bread was stale and the rice was soggy and felt old. The grilled meats were very delicious but needed a bit more seasoning. If you asked for an extra sauce such as hot sauce or garlic it's .75 cents more which I felt was a bit impractical. The location itself was nice weird setup but it worked with the space they provided. It felt authentic. The owner/manager is what made this place go from 4 star to 2 star. During my visit, he was being very rude to a party that was celebrating a Christmas gift exchange. He was loud and yelled so loud at them for some reason at a point I got scared I was in some sort of mob scene. I think the group just wanted to put their very large pizza order on a different table since there was no room to eat. The waiter was compliant but the owner came out of no where and started shouting "no that's my table!They are for other customers". Mind you this makes sense but the table was never used by other customers for the entire night lol. Further more, someone in the Christmas party complained about then not having room to eat... at which point the manager yelled "what did you say!!?, come day that to my face!" It was very awkward for us. Overall, I had a good feeling walking in seeing so many diverse cultures and traditions together in this Muslim place of gathering, but then was hurt to see the manger disrespect party that was just trying to celebrate Christmas. I'm from Houston and whenever I'm in Austin, I love going to Arpeggio's for some good Lebanese/Mediterranean grub. Once I went I had the Gyro Sandwich and it was phenomenal. The other day I was back and I came for lunch and they had an amazing lunch special which consisted of Beef or Chicken Shawarma or Gyro plus you get a salad, 3 sides, and a drink for just $10. The food was amazing. We had the Arpeggio Italian pizza, garlic chicken pizza, and mixed kabob plate. The kabob plate was awesome. The meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. The Italian Pizza was great as well. The waiter said it was one of the fans from the menu and I can see why. The garlic chicken pizza, hoever, stole the show! It was perfectly balanced with flavor and spice. Make sure you get the green spicy sauce and try it with the pizza! Last but not least, the customer service was extraordinary! The waiters that helped us guided us through the menu while talking to us. It's a family run business that's been around for 10 years and you can see the confidence they have. I was running a little late to join my friends for dinner because of an injury and he had the nerve to suggest I hurry up to eat my dinner because my friends looked like they're done and there were people waiting. I was a regular of this place while living in Austin and I will tell you that this is some awesome stuff. My standard was the Chicken Shawerma and I can tell you that over the years it hasn't changed much; it remains perfectly seasoned and you receive the same amount... no skimping here! Flavorful rice, warm pita bread, tasty hummus. The falafel aren't my favorite I've had from my travels, but they're not bad either. Some of the better that I've had in Austin for sure. The salad has changed over the years and they skimp a bit more on the feta these days but it's still quite tasty. Service when dining in can be hit or miss. Most times I've gone I have received my dinner quickly. There has been a time or two when things are a bit slow, however, the staff have always been kind and helpful. The two girls who used to work at the counter were adorable and super friendly. The restaurant itself has always been clean when I've gone and the changed decor over the years makes Arpeggio Grill a nice place to settle in for good food. And you can't beat the price! I don't understand the high rating this place has on Yelp (nor the Yelp sticker on the door). The menu is good, the food is well served, plentiful and tasty. And the prices are good. My friend had the pizza and it looked fantastic. My beef schawarma was ok. But the place itself is awful. It doesn't look well kept. Everything looks old. It doesn't look very clean (though the open kitchen does look clean). There is not even single poster on the well, zero decor whatsoever. No music, and it was very empty when we went for lunch on a Saturday. What bothered me the most is that they had some old junk lying around: broken furniture and such. A really bad impression. One more bad thing: The soda fountain had no gas. The tea was so watered down it had no taste. A shame that the food is ok, the staff is friendly but everything around it is a little depressing.
