This was a military move and was certainly the worse move we've ever experienced. We've had PCS nightmares before, but none compare to the issues we had to this move. It took them over a month to move our things from the west coast to the midwest. They failed to fill the pick up order and didn't inform us so they were late picking up our belongings after they were already packed by the local company. 3 weeks later, our things still had not left the storage facility. We finally got our things, which took a LOT of threatening to involve military investigators to accomplish, and many things arrived broken, were missing, or were blatantly stolen (like tools, for example) for which Arpin refused to take responsibility and suggested we "file a police report." All of this, alone, was enough for a 1 star review...but the biggest issue we really had with this company was communication. The military move coordinator through Arpin is named Wookie, and she is incredibly impossible to talk to. She's never in the office if you call and her voicemail is always full so you aren't able to leave a message. The only way to get in touch with her was email, which 99% of the time resulted in a return email that simply said "I'll call you this morning" and never ever resulted in a return phone call. One brief time we did speak, she had our account confused with someone else's and said "I have a lot of moves for people with the same last name that are all having problems"....here's your sign. Apparently no one else at Arpin can possibly assist in a military move besides Wookie, because calling anyone else and asking to speak to someone besides her did nothing for us. There was even contact made with the COO of Arpin, which was simply a brief non-proofread email that said "sorry for our failure" and resulted in absolutely nothing being done to get us our belongings. We accepted $500 less than what they owed us in damages and losses, simply so we could wipe our hands of this company. I don't write reviews but I am going to make an exception in this case. Just moved from RI to FL. Did a lot of research on movers before hand. Almost all of them had horrible reviews (including Arpin). Finally, with much trepidation, chose Arpin for two reasons: 1) got some feedback from friends that had used them. 2) they were a local company (yes I know that they are international). Anyway, I can't say enough good things about my moving experience from beginning to end. Everyone was completely professional starting with Tom, the estimator, to Darryl, the driver. Also, kudos to the office people, Gayle and Gabrielle. Can't not mention the nice woman in the warehouse who helped me load used boxes into my car (in the rain). I agree that this company deserves zero stars. In addition to being inefficient, they are totally unethical and borderline illegal in their practices. Not to mention rude to the ultimate. They feel they are immune from any compensation due to customer service issues, with the exception of overnight stays at motel rooms and meals when they are late. And the Kris K. person who answers the complaints sounds proud of the fact that they offer no other compensation for their awful performance. I'm not usually a complainer, but these guys are criminal. You think you've signed a contract with a professional moving company, but they list just about every trucking operation as an "affiliate." So even though I signed up 3 months early, they had no truck or drivers available on my move day. So they called a guy with a truck (no name) and he showed up many hours late . He had been in an accident and could hardly move; his helper was a kid spending the weekend. The packing was shabby and totally unprofessional. If I complained about the way they were handling something, I was told to "call ARPIN; I didn't want this job anyway." And when I did call Arpin, I was cursed at and hung up on by an agent who (I was told later) no one in the company liked working with and refused to communicate with on my behalf. If you want names, I'd be happy to supply them. This "agent" said if I couldn't drive across country in 2 days, they would toss my stuff somewhere. I have a heart condition and moving is stressful enough. Well, they didn't get there in 2 days or in the 10 day contract time. Turns out, the contract dates are for their benefit alone; if they're late - too bad. Which again, I was told in exactly that language. Hard to believe, it got worse from there. My items were not separated from other clients in the moving truck, so they had to empty half the truck in my front yard to separate the items. I complained, but because I slept on the floor in my house waiting for the furniture - rather than staying at a motel - co compensation was offered. Again, I was told that bad service, no matter how bad, does not warrant discounts or partial refunds from them. I tried withholding part of the fee paid by credit card, but the credit card company said that as long as I eventually received my furniture that they could not justify the discount I asked for. I've moved several times in the last 15 years and have never had a problem before dealing with these criminals; they are the absolute worst, and almost sound proud of it. BE WARNED! read more

Our household items were packed in CA on June 9 and we were told items would arrive no later then June 22. It is now July 2 and no answers. They still can not provide an ETA either!!!!! Our items are sitting in storage in CA! I don't even understand how this can happen, I was told they don't have a driver and they honestly cannot tell me when they will find one. This company should not be in business. No communication to let us know they weren't meeting any of the time lines. We have been living without items for 3.5 weeks. We were told today they could provide us with some items to purchase for our home to at least hold us over for now... Never got an email or phone call back after sending in the claim. We chose Arpin Van Lines because of our positive experience with them in the past. This move to TX from CA was an entirely different story. The workers in CA were on time and did a great job. They told us that our things would be going on the truck leaving that day or no later than the next morning. This is where the nightmare starts. We received a call that night saying it wouldn't fit on the large van so it it ending up sitting in CA for five days.. Meanwhile we were trying to handle all of this while we were out-of-state on vacation. My husband called their Headquarters in Rhode Island at least twice a day to ask what the hangup was getting it out of CA.. We were told to call the local movers who subcontract to Arpin. We called them and they told us to call Headquarters. Headquarters said we take it up with the local movers. They put the burden on us to get this straightened out. Isn't it the company's job to tell us what was going on? We paid them, not the other way around. All we got was the runaround. Our belongings sat in CA five days and still know answer. We were told nothing. We kept calling our representative and either she was on the phone, at lunch or went home with no return call. We were beyond frustrated. Were they in CA on route to TX? We only had three pieces of furniture and a bunch of boxes because the new owners of our condo bought everything else. Why did it take four or five days to get on a truck? These three pieces of furniture were special to us which is why we didn't sell them. We became very concerned at this point. After about the tenth call we found out our things were finally on a truck ready to go. You shouldn't have to call the moving company you chose to handle your things and paid good money to as often as we did with no resolution. The whole experience was absolutely unnerving. Moving is stressful enough without getting completely frustrated with your moving company. We understood that there was a two-week window for delivery and they just about made it. Not knowing what was going on and trying to get through to someone was next to impossible. Meanwhile we sat on beach chairs and ate off paper plates for two weeks. We told them we would be out of state and they couldn't deliver on the day they scheduled. They were willing to store it to the tune of $800 but they waved the fee. At that point they dared not say anymore. Our white slipcovered sectional from Pottery Barn was completely covered in dirt and black skid marks. Luckily the slipcovers could be washed but it took two days to try and get the stains out. If this were an upholstered sofa it would have been ruined. We were actually in shock when they brought it in. What did they do? Fling it on the truck without wrapping or covering it? A few things were lost which we somewhat understand can happen, but now we have to file a claim to find out where they are. Isn't it their job to find them? They lost them. Still no news a week later. Bottom line, I highly suggest you research other moving companies when you need one. Years ago Arpin was so professional and reliable. I have no idea what happened because it looks like we weren't the only ones frustrated according to other other Yelp reviews. Now we have to file a claim to try and get the lost items. If I could give zero stars I would - RUN AWAY from this company as fast as you can dial an honest moving company. I hired Coakley Brothers out of Milwaukee, WI and did not realize that they would hire Arpin and then wash their hands of everything having to do with the move. So Coakley Brothers are on my zero star list as well. Once Arpin's driver arrives the day before our move he says his truck will not fit down our street and we would have to pay an additional $3,000 to bring in a smaller truck to reload onto his truck. First of all, the Coakley employee that gave the estimate NEVER asked about our street! We had professional movers move us INTO our house with a semi - but this driver wanted more money. What choice does a consumer have the day before closing??? THEY HAVE YOU STUCK AND THEY KNOW IT. So we paid. Our items arrive and as we unpack we find multiple items damaged - including our new 55" TV. Arpin denies to take responsible for the TV and has refused responsibility at all!!!! Caokley Brothers has denied responsiblity - they just keep pointing fingers at each other until the consumer gets fed up and quits fighting. I can go to arbitration for an additional $300 - does that seem fair to anyone???They paid someone to come out and tell me they would "fix" my dresser that they smashed and paid me pennies. Same thing with my two leather recliners. They are TERRIBLE - RUN AWAY. I wish I had read these reviews - they are true. read more

I have been a military spouse for 20 years, have moved countless times all over the world and this is by far the WORST moving company with which my family and I have ever dealt. The packing team in Texas stole things. We caught them looking through our prescription medications, and private documents ( they quickly stopped as soon as I came into the room). One of the packers actually asked if he could come dig up the children's swing set in our backyard and take it after we left. The packers didn't have enough help, so they went and got some of their local friends to help out, which I feel is a huge liability. The driver had a huge temper tantrum and used all kinds of obscenities within hearing of my children and neighbors. They left drink bottles and cigarette butts throughout the garage, yard, and house. The driver planned the drop off with us to coordinate with the closing of our home in Fl. We had planned to close on a Wednesday and the driver said he'd be dropping off the shipment the following Friday. He arrived with our shipment on Monday instead and said that since we weren't ready he'd put everything into storage and that the next time he could deliver would be two weeks from the original drop off date. We pointed out that none of our items was packed for storage and that we would suffer damage if they put in storage. They didn't care. We instead pushed our closing date up and checked out of hotel early which cost us 280.00. We had to get up at 4am to make the trip to Jacksonville. In order to get to the title company in time to close we didn't even stop to eat. We told the moving company that our new closing appointment was at 11am. They showed up at the house at 10am. I called the customer service representative who was annoyed that they couldn't start moving things in. I pointed out that we've already moved things around to accommodate their schedule and that they'd just have to wait. She replied," Well, now I have a driver who's just sitting there." We went to the closing and were finished by noon. We stopped at a fast food restaurant on the way back to house because by now we were all starving and ate a quick lunch in the car so we could hurry and not keep our very important driver waiting. We got to the house at 12:30 and the driver and crew had left and said they wouldn't be back until the next day. All that to work around their schedule and then they couldn't even wait. They were supposed to reweigh the shipment, which we had requested because our professional gear was counted with our household items and it wasn't supposed to be. They refused. The next day they arrived early and unloaded everything. They were paid to unpack our shipment which they refused to do. They were supposed to reassemble the items that they took apart and they did this very haphazardly, if at all. They reassembled my STEINWAY piano incorrectly and they had to know it ( it was obvious) and they did not acknowledge it. They scratched the top of an RJ Horner anitque dresser while attaching the mirror and tried to cover it up. I have called numerous times to get help with a third party crew who was supposed to come assemble a home gym and they don't show up. The customer service is rude and unhelpful and the entire company acts as though they don't care about holding up their end of the contract as long as they've already got your money. I am still trying to deal with them for third party issues and have filed a claim for damages and the flat screen TV that was stolen. Bottom Line: Do Not Use This Company read more

TERRIBLE!! I will never use this company again and I will make sure to warn every military family I know to avoid this company at all costs. My husband and I just completed our first military move and we were assigned Arpin Van Lines to complete our move. The man who was contracted out through Arpin was the rudest, most condescending man I have ever met. I wouldn't trust this guy to ship my trash can. He came to the origin pick-up unprepared and completely unable to find the place. My mom was the point of contact at the pick-up site and the mover was very unprofessional and rude to her. There were two men moving that day and one of them had apparently worked the night before and he was completely useless. My mom ended up having to pack boxes and help them do their job. When our delivery was scheduled, the mover called that morning (unprepared again) and argued with my husband about whether or not our street address was a "road" or "drive." When we explained to him that as far as we knew it was "road," he still argued that he couldn't find it. My husband then suggested that he could try "drive" in his GPS and see if that will work. Instead of trying that he continued to argue with my husband. He finally found our house and then in a condescending rude tone he proceed to tell us that he checked our street sign and that it is "drive" and that we were wrong. I drove by the street sign later that day to check it out for myself and it is...... ROAD! Put two and two together and this guy is just your regular class-act LIAR. To top it off, he had NO respect for the military. He told my husband and I that he is used to moving "higher-ranked" officials and that he barely makes any money moving lower-ranked officers like my husband. Thankfully, I have found only one item so far that is broken. But the way he handled this seemed more like a used car salesman making a deal rather than a businessman making something right. My family moved from FL to MA, and not only were they late to deliver our belongings but most of our bulky furniture was damaged in the move (some pieces not even 6 months old). Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. Delivery was days late and when I saw how their repacking into cardboard crates was done for my relocation, I was absolutely furious. I worked in the industry for six years, high school thru college summers, so I packed my own plastic tubs carefully. Arpin repacked a dozen of my plastic tubs in cardboard containers ON THEIR SIDE, then threw in furniture, etc. Everything was packed sideways and so loosely it was a MESS on arrival. Never offered addional insurance, forced to sign papers before my household was even brought into my new home...and barely a compensation for lost or stolen goods!!! This has been a very horrible experience from the beginning. I was never contacted by the company to confirm my pickup date, which led to us contacting them the day before they were supposed to show up. Had we not, we never would have known that it was them moving us. Not to mention that they had no driver available. As numerous phone calls continued, a resolution was never met. They were supposed to pick up our household goods today, 24 June 2015 and we still do not have a confirmed pick up. I have been told numerous times that they will look into the issue and give me a call back. Nothing. we used Arpin for our move from San Diego . yet to go to ohio. we will be in limbo a couple of months . the team Honz who loaded our many things onto the truck were the best. courteous and extremely helpful . i cant say enough good things about our coordinator Dave saavedra . sales manager. he eased my fears and made me feel so much better during this extremely stressful time. I signed a contract and had all my belongings picked up from Tampa, FL on 6/17/13 for delivery to Chantilly, VA by 7/5 absolute latest (this is all in writing). I called Arpin on 7/3 to see if they were on schedule - I was told my things had been bumped from the truck due to weight requirements. My dad called, asked to speak to a manager, and was told there was no manager and was given a different story that the truck from Tampa had broken down. I was then told my things would be delivered on 7/9 and Danielle said the driver would call me - I waited at my house ALL DAY and finally called at 3pm to inquire about delivery and was told that the truck hadn't even left Tampa! And no one called or emailed! I was then, again told on 7/10 that the truck was "leaving the warehouse" and that Danielle in Clearwater, FL was "watching it leave". It's now 7/13 and I'm being told they can't guarantee anything and "maybe your things will be delivered by 7/18." I have called the corporate offices who said they would call the office in Tampa and nothing has happened! This lack of communication and customer service is absolutely unacceptable! This is the worst experience I have ever had with a company - you have zero respect for your customers, their belongings or their schedules. I've contacted the BBB and written posts anywhere I can about your deplorable service - because no one should have to go through this. read more

Horrible experience!!! The local salesman was nice and promised delivery after June 1st when I arrived. (moved from PA to FL) The company called to inform me they had to deliver early because of extra room on a truck. I sold half of my belongings to get under 5000 pounds where the local salesman told me there would be a "deep discount". The driver called and said my weight was as estimated which I find impossible after selling so much from the estimated list. They fought me on the reweigh but finally did it and called that it was exactly 500 pounds less. No deep discount was given at all. To top off the horrible experience, when I finally arrive in Florida, I can't open the storage unit door. I get help only to find all of my belongings are packed from the middle to the front leaving the back of the unit empty. I now have to pay a REAL mover to take everything out and start packing from back to front. Unprofessional and horrible customer service. Avoid this company ! read more

It seems to be a continual negative trend regarding customer service for Arpin. I am active duty military and did not have a choice for choosing the mover for my move from MO to MD. I received the moving paperwork from Arpin and contacted them as standard protocol. I was told on 17 May 2013 they would not be the mover that it was another carrier that would handle my move.The Arpin customer service rep gave me the contact information and I called the other carrier only to be told that Arpin was the correct carrier, and I was misinformed by Arpin. The non-assigned carrier was very helpful and stated they would call Arpin and take care of the mix up so I would not have to deal with it. I had an agreement with Arpin to pack the household goods 28-29 May 2013 and load on 30 May 2013. On 28 May 2013 the packers did not arrive and I called the same customer service rep only to be informed that they were not the carrier,again! Afetr multiple conversations, the Chief Operations Officer assured me that he would take care of it. Once again I was given false promises. I had to leave MO no later than 31 May 2013, and was delayed by 12 hours for departure. The chief operations officer assured me that I would get my household goods on the 7 Jun 2013 as previously scheduled. This did not happen! It is 12 Jun 2013 and still no household goods. I have left mutiple messages for the Chief Operations Officer and customer service rep without a return phone call. To this point I have no confirmed date of arrival, only an anticipatory date of 14 or 15 Jun 2013. I have never received such poor customer service or dealt with such incompetence with a moving carrier in over 8 moves and 19 years of military service. The most disheartening aspect is the fact that the Chief Operations Officer is retired military and should know first hand the stress and hardship this can place on your loved ones while trying to continue to stay mission focused. The absolute worst experience EVER!!!!! My husband is military and we were assigned this moving company. They were supposed to pick my belongings up from AZ on 6/4 and ended up not showing up. Luckily the men who packed up my home were available to pick up my belongings and store them until a truck became available. We moved to TX and notified Nicole of our address and she informed us that our belongings were on their way and wanted to know when we wanted them delivered. We said ASAP. Our things were not due to be here until 6/24 so on the 20th we tried making contact with Nicole again. We continued for about a week with no reply back. Finally on the 27th we find out that our belongings are still sitting in a storage unit in AZ. They were never even picked up. Not one person notified me that my things were not even on their way. At this point Im absolutely furious and again try to get in contact with anybody with a brain at this company. I finally am able to make contact with a gentleman and he assures me that my things will be here very soon. My belongings arrived at 06:42 7/12 The driver made a comment that "Since my things were SOOO IMPORTANT he had to unload his truck to accomodate my things" All in all this is by far the absolute worse expereince I have ever had. Military moves are hard enough without people like this, who dont care about you or your belongings. I know that in AZ the military transportation refuses to work with this company again. WORST HORRIBLE DON"T CARE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE THIEVES U WON'T GET YOUR STUFF ON TIME****DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!! They do not give a rats a#$% about u or your stuff. I wish I could give them NO STARS! Their truck had a huge hole in it for a 3 day drive, and all of my things got wet and ruined. Lots of things were missing or "lifted". Mirrors were broken, clothes just thrown in boxes, etc. My mattresses were stored standing up, so they had huge lumps in them. Bins had 3" of water in them. Heavy boxes were put on top of my office furniture, and it bowed. They put tape directly on my leather couch, and ripped all the leather off it, then tried to act like nothing was wrong. They scratched my brand new wood floors! Watch out for those inventory lists! They don't even list your stuff on them, then claim they delivered everything. They accused us of lying, when I asked them to please ck the warehouse for my missing stuff. Said it wasn't on the inventory. They are full of crap! They will deliver your stuff to u when they feel like it, NOT when U NEED it! Do yourself a favor, and use someone else. read more

Everything started out okay, but soon went downhill the day the actual truck driver arrived. He was late, grumpy and was not happy with Arpin or Savon the sales represenative. There is obviosuly a lack of communication between Arpin, the Driver and the Sales represenatives they use. The driver refused to pack a few large items incouding the big screen TV. I had to go back and forth with Savon and in the end the packing guys saw my frustration and did it depsite the driver. At the end of the packing, the driver proceeds to extort me because he is not happy with the price Savon quoted. He makes e sign a bill of lading that includes additional charges based on weight and number of items even though I show him the fixed quote from savon. The driver continues to tell me he does not want to go to Colorado now and wants to pick up other loads. In the end, we had to wait 10 full days becuase they decided to drop off other loads. My wife, Myself and our kids were in a empty house for days and days. The grumpy driver finally arrived and began his normal bad attitude and telling me I should have shoveled some snow on the driveway. I had spent days confirming with Arpin and savon that I would not be charged extra than what was agreed and signed to. I was in limbo the entire time. In the end this organization relies on its non arpin sales reps and independant drivers who are not on the same page at all. read more

NO STAR FROM FOR THEM. had to give them one star for it to post.This is the worst van line that I have ever used. If they wouldn't have waited so long to come check what I was moving, I would have changed after talking with them in person, but it was to late by then to try and locate another van line. They knew what they had to do, and showed up with a small truck. They said it was big enough. After they stuffed everything in, I can see why they thought it was big enough. They said that for damaged items, they only do the 60cents per pound method. As I said above it was to late to change so I was stuck with this. As it turned out between storage and shipping and the way they packed things, I ended up missing a 20ft ladder, 155 piece wrench set, 1 curio cabinet, 1 plastic bag, and 2 box's which had some collectables in them. They broke one glass side of one curio cabinet, two sides of another curio (they took the glass out because they said they didn't trust leaving the glass in) which i can not replace the glass because it was the curved type glass, mangled/destroyed one christmas display that can not be replaced. For all this, because they said I didn't note it on the form the driver had be sign I was only getting a check for $120.00. The driver knew I was missing items and had broken items. He said he would notify an adjuster to look at my items. After a couple of phone calls to him he finally said to fill out a claim because their was no adjuster in my area. The day of delivery, even drove the driver around trying to find a place where he could cash a big check. When we got back, the truck was unloaded and they were in a hurry to depart. I told the claims office this and even said I had items that didn't belong to me. They said they would put a tracer on my items. I waited several weeks and they said they were unable to find any items and to file my claim. They said they would have someone pick up the items that did not belong to me. They had to be in box's or they would not pick them up and that I could either keep them on throw them away. No wonder so much stuff comes up missing. They deliver more than one family's furniture on the truck at the same time. When I told them I was going to write a review and they said that they would reopen my case. They send me a check for another $315.00 and said they didn't have to but they did. This still does not cover all my lost/damaged items. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. read more
