Twin Lake Towers

Twin Lake Towers

Have been a resident since 2018. I recently welcomed my son to the world. That being said it is…read moretime to move on and find a bigger place. I inquired about early lease termination for this reason and of course got the corporate jargon answer. So let's get into the details of what it means to live at Twin Lakes. The bad: In our particular unit there is a often times the smell of cigarettes and marijuana coming from our bathroom. It is probably coming from the vents. There will be young adults smoking marijuana by the lake which you must walk through on dog walks and to get to your car. While they say that this is disallowed they will simply say that can't control smoking outside even though in the same breath they claim that they will charge for such problems. It is an old building and mice have made its home here as well. I have had one in my apartment, sent pictures to the office of them in the lobby and there are carcasses of dead mice by the door. During peak times it is impossible to shower as hot water runs out quick, and a more annoying issue is the water pressure. There is a 50/50 chance that the water will come out of the spout after you come home from work to make dinner or take a shower. Elevators have regular issues, I have been stuck on multiple occasions and often times they are out of service. The doors sometimes do not open so you have to manually do it. Laundry machines are $2.25 per wash and $2.25 per dry. You will spend very quickly $200 per month just on these fees. You must add extra time to the dryer for an additional $.75 as the regular time mode will leave your clothes wet still. You will often times be charged and the machine will not take so you must pay again. Sometimes one load of laundry will cost you $8.00. Over the years the fire alarms of gone off quite frequently, night/day winter/summer doesn't matter. To me this wasn't a big deal but if you have a baby as I shared, this is not only unpleasant but a danger to developing kids. You will be told to sign up for some package locker and pay some $80/year but no delivery courier puts it there. Instead they are left on the floor in the lobby. The good : The location and the maintenance staff. They do what they can with what they have. If you are a single person and don't intend to spend much time at home then this place may work for you, however if you consider the price it is certainly worth going anywhere else

They…read morerenovate to a degree, but the overall buildings are having issues with malfunctioning elevators, noisy furnaces in units, ill-fitting blinds, scratched-up floors, nonworking washers and dryers, etcetera. There are loud residents as well as smokers. Packages are not secured in Luxer System, so a lot is stolen. Many times things don't make it into the actual area in the building. They are left in the foyer. Parking can be an issue on weekends. If the prime parking passes are available, pay the extra to insure your space. There are problems with ants, mice, etcetera. They are increasing rent, and I noticed many moved out this spring/summer due to this reason. Residents talked. Be sure to shop around the area before signing a lease. There are other options which are newer or better renovated. They did not send reasons as to why I didn't receive a full deposit. I had fixed nail holes, cleaned decently, and to be honest, it was left better than what I walked in to in 2022. The ladies in the office are amazing as is the maintenance crew. The apartments are decently sized with storage. It is located in a good area.

I love how there is so much open yard space and trees by every apartment. There is even a park nextdoor with a walking path, fishing pond with fountain, and playground. Pets are allowed so you will often see neighbors walking their dogs. They have lots of different types of apartments but I lived first in a one bedroom and then switched to a two bedroom- both had gas stoves and remodeled/great quality kitchen. The shelves and everything were sturdy and things rarely broke. If something did break or not work I could call maintenance and they were so nice and usually there by the next day. The only problems I ever had were a few times in the spring I got ants in the kitchen and you have to wait til wednesday when their exterminator can come but if you ask in the mean time they will drop off traps. Also it's coin laundry in each building ($1.25 load), and sometimes those machines broke but if they did you call the number on the machine- they do take a few days to come but if you ask they will refund the money you wasted on that load and you can ask tgm for a temp key for the day for other buildings to use their laundry (you just give them an id while you have the key). Tgm uses comcast or at&t I believe and allow dishes but it depends on if they can put it in certain locations by your specific apartment. The walls are white or this light brown color that I'm not a fan of (you can paint but must paint it back before move out) and there is a light brown carpet. The carpet is like any apartment complex, kind of cheap- but every year only if you ask, you can request a free carpet cleaning when you sign your new lease. They have a 24hr gym that is spacious and not often too busy. There is a trainer Tim that works there that is amazing! They have a two tennis courts that are kept somewhat in good condition. There are gated areas to let dogs run free around the complex and tons of free poop pickup bag stands. They have two pools- one is right by the gym but it is very very very tiny. The other larger one is by the clubhouse and is a decent size and only a few times in the summer will you have trouble getting a lawnchair spot. The clubhouse has key fob entrance (just like gym and pool) and you can bring however many guests you want. The clubhouse and gym have free wifi. The clubhouse sometimes has your packages to sign out or the driver may just leave them in your mailroom by your apt, but I've never had anything stolen. The clubhouse has nice mac computers but you can only access them at certain times and I often had problems with them- I couldn't login, I couldn't print (no ink or paper), a mouse was missing, etc. if you ask sometimes they can fix the problem. The staff are hit or miss- some are super friendly and helpful, others are flat out mean/rude and act annoyed if you ask any question. You just learn who to go to for assistance. When we resigned our lease or moved out we never had any issues. We even got some of our deposit back. Parking is free for you and guests and there are always spots available. You can grill if you keep the grill a good distance from your patio. Your bills are nicor gas, aum, commed, your internet/cable, and rent only. The train station is about two miles away in clarendon hills which is a cute little town with nice restaurants and things to walk to in the summer. There is a jewel within walking distance as well just a few blocks away. Tgm is great about plowing and salting in the winter. There are large outside dumpsters for trash close to every apartment. I honestly loved living here. We only moved because of a nearby plant that the news shared was putting out extra pollutants and chemicals in the air, but I heard it recently closed. I would definitely recommend Tgm to friends and family.

The high prices are because of the area and supposed amenities. For the location near grocery stores, the hwy, and the train on top of the amenities it makes sense, but to be honest it not worth it for the money anymore. Amenities are not maintained well and/or have very restrictive hours. The apartments are not well insulated so your utilities are typically really high no matter the season. The increasing amount of prohibited items on patios is getting out of hand. No rugs (even outdoor ones I guess), lights, bikes, storage items, drapes, or grills are allowed on your patio. You are however allowed to grill if you are 100ft away from the building. For 2,700 a month the inability to decorate your patio or store your bike out there(because the storage included with most patios is no where near big enough) is very disappointing. They put in communal grills to make up for the change of no longer allowing grills on patios, but theyre only close to the leasing office, so you'll have to walk a ways to get to one. They try to offset many downsides with outdoor movies and free donut day every once in a while. In regards to amenities: Gym is 24/7 and equipment is fine, but I really don't thinking its cleaned very well. Every time I go there is hair and dust all over the floor, which is disgusting because they have an area with yoga mats where you are very close to the ground doing your work out. The bathroom in the gym is connected to the pool and its not well maintained either, everything in there is falling apart. Pool next to the gym should be heated when weather drops below a certain temp, however it's not. The main pool was "down for maintenance" the first day it was advertised to be open for the season. They gave no notice other than a small sign taped on the gate. It was down for a while, which is interesting since they had plenty of time prior to it opening for the season for things to get fixed, as the weather had been good for a bit over a month. Sand volleyball area is not maintained at all. There is always goose poop, garbage, or other stuff in there that makes it unusable. There is a dog park that is again not maintained. There are tons patches where there is no grass just dirt, so when its slightly damp out your dog will be a muddy mess. There is supposed to be two tennis courts but one is always locked. Feels like the movie theater is just for show. You really can only use it on the weekends because it's only open during business hours and trying to get a hold of people in the leasing office to make an appointment is next to impossible, I suppose if you email them or go in person you might have better luck.

I live in a one bedroom with a patio. It's a good size for 1-2 people. You can have cats and dogs. They have a small gym, pool, basketball/tennis courts on the far left, and a sand volleyball court. They have public laundry rooms but if you pay more you can have a washer and dryer in your apartment. It's very useful if you like to do laundry late at night. Some of the apartments will have walk-in closets. If you live upstairs you'll have a nice balcony. Maintenance is very good here, they respond quickly. The apartment staff is very pleasant and helpful. They provide cat sitting in case you're out of town. They can only change the food and water, they can't empty the cat litter. Your neighbors in your building are very kind. They'll bring in your packages and set it by the mail area. That's if it's not too heavy or bulky. Cons: Spacious parking although you'll find that people don't have parking skills. Your "neighbors" also drive like idiots here. They either drive super slow or they pull out in front of you. Be wary that these neighbors also like to walk in front of cars vs using the sidewalks. Like anywhere else, you got morons living close to you. It's relatively safe but you do see a bunch of random weirdos that drive around the parking lots and not really stopping. Overall about a 3.5 due to the incompetent drivers, idiots, and weirdos.

Turned Off Heat Too Early -- Uncaring and Unresponsive Management…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. The property management here is absolutely the worst I've ever dealt with. They don't answer phone calls or respond to emails--yet if you walk into the office, you'll often find them sitting at their desks chatting with each other instead of doing their jobs. It's frustrating and unprofessional. They have no problem sending out email after email with restrictions and demands, but when it comes to communicating with residents or addressing real concerns, they go completely silent. To make matters worse, on April 28th, they turned off the heat while the outside temperature is currently 47 degrees. When I tried to contact Marquette Companies (located in Naperville) during business hours, no one answered. Just another voicemail. This entire organization lacks basic customer service, professionalism, and accountability. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place at all costs.

Then when you go on your tour they will show you a beautiful model unit and the unit you actually move into looks nothing like that half of your appliances are used when I moved in our dishwasher didn't even work and the air conditioner had to be replaced. During my thirteen years living there, I found that the strong points of Ascot Glen were the maintenance, the location, and the fact that none of the apartment complexes nearby measured up (e.g., the ones in Westmont -- ugh). Yeah, there was some petty crime, and some of the wrong types of people occasionally showing up, but I never felt unsafe living there. The buildings are going on thirty years old, and as a previous reviewer indicated, the condition of your appliances might be subpar. Mine sure were, and the dryer in the building NEVER worked properly despite having been replaced twice... blocked ducts? All in all, I managed to make a good home at Ascot Glen for thirteen years before a job change forced me to relocate out of state. If you're looking for an apartment in the Willowbrook-Westmont area, Ascot Glen is about as good as it gets. However, if I had to do it again, I wouldn't have been so complacent as to spend as long living in the place as I did. FWIW... I hope this helps!
