We live in Suffolk county and my wife has a go to guy when she needs her haircut. After she washes her hair and styles it herself I always hear, he did this wrong, that wrong, yada yada yada. Well, the guy was off this week and my wife is in panic mode. Who will cut my hair, where will I go? Enough of this Long Island BS. I'll take it from here. I called ARROJO Williamsburg and made my wife appointment. We're going on vacation and I want her to have a great haircut before we go away. Walking inside, its a beautiful salon. Very large and spacious, its a very welcoming and professional environment. My wife was given a robe and was shown a seat. A bunch of folks came over and explained the process. Before she was brought to have her hair washed, her senior stylist walked over and introduced herself. My wife explained her curly hair and its hard to cut. A true professional, she said not to worry, she has experience with all hair types. My wife is back from getting her hair washed, the stylist starts the cut. She's telling us her role in ARROJO Williamsburg and she's the senior trainer for the company. The vibe I got from this woman was very calming and extremely professional. She looks like Katie Lee but deep down she's Rambo. When you want a professional "anything" you want the best person for the job. The ladies started talking ladies stuff, I let them have their space and walked away. After all said and done, my wife was happy and glowing. We made another appointment in August. She was very impressed with the shop, the service and of course the end result. ARROJO Williamsburg is highly recommended. read more

The pictures say it all, I went to a top colorist Chantel at the Brooklyn location. The hair painting felt sloppy, I can't believe I paid $200 for this, it's embarrassing. This is the second location I've visited of Arrojo Studio. I've frequented the Soho location a few times, yet this locale is very different. I had a mid-day haircut appointment, model for an apprentice, first time meeting her, Arlene. I arrived early therefore i was chatting it up with the front desk/hostess of this location. Upon my initial arrival, I saw how prestine and mellow the space is in comparison to the livelier location in Soho. To align with the more mellow chill vibes in this location, was accompanied by my stylist, Arlene. She had a very serene presence and was easy to interact with and provide the style i wanted to attain. She was able to come through with the haircut style I wanted and great at blow drying my hair, which almost put me to sleep, barely felt her. Not like other stylists that seem to want to rip your hair out of the roots! lol I'd definitely want to have her cut my hair and visit this location due to it's chill vibe enviroment and big plus that Domino park is a block away. Look forward to paying them a visit again. read more

Lucy is a magician, I swear it. Every color visit with her has ended up picture perfect, and grown out beautifully with zero awkward stages until I return to the salon -- even when I wait a month or so longer than I should to come back. (I'm a busy gal!) The first time I came in, I was growing out a really bad dye job from a different salon that was supposed to be rose gold but was actually much closer to fuchsia. Ugh. It looked especially wacky as my ginger roots grew in, and I wanted to figure out a plan to transition back to my natural color. To top it all off, my hair was the consistency of straw so I knew it was gonna take a gentle touch to not harm it even further. Lucy immediately made me feel comfortable and talked me through my options. She told me that it would likely take a couple visits to get all the pink out (its a frustratingly resilient color) but that we could make it look cute and natural every step of the way -- and she was so right! Every visit has looked great, and I haven't even felt like I'm "transitioning", more like trying out different colors/looks every few months. I'm now at a point where the pink is totally out, and even though my hair has been through a bunch of additional processing, it feels SO much healthier than before. I've been going to Arrojo for high lights for 9 months now. My highlight specialist is Emily. I wanted to write this review and give her a shoutout for the amazing job she did right before the Christmas Holidays. She listened to what I wanted and added her touch. Took about 4 hours to do it perfectly! The price was also very reasonable compare to some other salons in this area. The salon for those that are Covid concerned is HUGE with no problems regarding social distancing. Will be going back soon. read more

So disappointed with my haircut. I showed the (junior) stylist a picture of what I wanted but the cut came out very different and so short that I can't even really go anywhere else it get it fixed. It's a let down to pay $85 for a haircut and have it turn out looking so silly. Can't wait for it to grow out! I've been coming to Charlie (color) and Jess (stylist) ever since I moved to Williamsburg. It was just when they had opened this new location, and I got lucky enough to be put with them on my first appointment. I get SO many compliments about my hair cut + color, I seriously wouldn't trust anyone else. If you bring a friend with you that's new, you'll BOTH get 50% off of your services. It has to be during the week before 4pm, so if you can play hookie- DO THIS. So worth it. read more

I cannot say enough about the beautiful ladies that work here, especially Jess! My hair would be nothing without her. She always has the perfect vision for you. I have been going to her since she was at the original location, and followed her all the way to Williamsburg. Originally, she cut 9 inches off of my hair and totally transformed it and now I can never go to anyone else. Also, Francesca and Lucy are both really sweet and give amazing color. My only con for Arrojo is that they are always trying to sell you product or another service: if you come for a cut, they will try to get you to do color and vise versa. I know this is how other people get clients, but it's a little off-putting. read more

Made my first visit today. Arrojo Williamsburg has the same professional-yet-friendly vibe as Arrojo Soho. Great! It was a quiet time of a mid-week day, also great for a first visit. Clare washed, cut and styled my hair beautifully. I had a disastrously misshapen and uneven haircut I'd been living with for many weeks to grow it out enough to work with (from elsewhere) and was REALLY looking forward to this cut. Very delighted with her ideas and the skill with which she executed them. Go! Bonus: many interesting looking places in the area to get something to eat, or just go late in the day and get crazy at Peter Luger, which is a short walk away. read more

I don't like writing bad reviews but I feel that I have to this time. I'm going to preface with the fact that I was a house model for one of the colorists meaning I did not pay full price for the color I got. Short version: I was very clear about what I wanted and what I didn't want. I repeated myself a lot. I was also very polite and gave a 33% tip. I saw problems with the hair a few days later (lots of pieces not colored that should've been), tried to contact the colorist to fix it, called the salon when she never got back to me and was basically ignored. Soon after that, the color she HAD done completely faded. I had only washed my hair 5 times and I paid for a high pigmented long lasting color. Waste of money and time. Long version: I specifically asked for blue black hair with blue and purple highlights. I was very clear that I wanted all my brown/orange pieces completely covered. When I left the salon, the hair looked good and the color looked like what I had asked for. However, once I got home and under bright light I noticed that half of my hair was still brown. I texted the stylist a few days later politely asking if she would fix it and never heard back. When I called the salon, the receptionist told me that because I was a house model, I had to contact the colorist directly. She had also informed me that my colorist was on vacation. Ok. No problem. I'll wait. But I never heard back. To make things worse, a few days later--after I had washed my hair a total of 5 times since the color application--the color that she had done was almost completely faded. I had paid for a long lasting ultra vibrant color and I was either deceived or my colorist didn't know what she was doing. My hair looked almost the same as when I came in except my roots were black. I ended up buying hair dye at Ricky's and doing it myself and although my entire bathroom is blue, my hair finally looks how I want. I don't think it's wise to ignore a potential client when you're trying to drum up business. I am never going back this salon or this colorist. Oh and the reason for 2 stars? The salon itself is beautiful and the staff was friendly. It was a relaxing environment. Too bad the service didn't match. read more

If you want good hair days, everyday, go see Celiann in the Williamsburg location! Celiann has been cutting my hair for about 3 years and she ALWAYS exceeds my expectations, and gives her honest opinion of what will look best on you. I change my hair often and every style I've thrown at her, she always customizes the cut to best fit me. She has an eye for haircuts, and I get constant compliments on my cut even months after I've gotten it done. Oh, and her shampoos and blowouts are the best. If I could find time to get blowouts done by her every week, I would. I can't say enough good things about her, go book with her ASAP! read more

Hands down, I received the best haircut & blowout from Arlene at Arrojo Williamsburg. First off, Arlene stepped in when the stylist I scheduled with cancelled morning of because she was sick. Despite this impromptu & last-minute change, I immediately noted that Arlene is gracious & good-natured. She asked me what I wanted & listened quite attentively. She proceeded to give me a vigorous & delightful shampoo + conditioner, while explaining a few things to me. She then dived in expertly into a flawless haircut that fit & exceeded my expectations, followed by a blowout that was incredibly efficient & fit the bill on what I wanted to a T. Overall -- what made this an extraordinary experience was a combo of Arlene's skill (downright impressive!) and understated manner (it slowly dawned on me I was being worked on by a master). Seriously, my hair turned out whimsical chic & elegant in shape & execution, with tons of body, movement & texture. Moreover, Arlene revealed herself to be supremely client-attentive, calm under pressure & expert at the craft & trade of haircutting & hairstyling. I've gotten my hair done here for about a year now and I absolutely love it! Ask for Jessica, she's done most of my cuts since I started coming here and I honestly don't feel comfortable with anyone else touching my hair. You know how in movies people have great relationships with their hairstylists, she makes you feel that comfortable! I love the products here too. I only have amazing things to say about this place. Jessica has been doing my hair for a few years and I feel like a new woman. I look younger now than I did ten years ago and it is all because of my hair. I have curly short hair and Jessica is an expert. I always leave happy. This establishment is crystal clean, everyone is always so friendly and I always have a relaxing time because of the cool modern vibe. My daughter Madison gets her hair cut by Robyn and refuses to go to anyone else. She always looks fabulous. We go at the same time and always have so much fun. "No layers," I said. "Just don't give me the Jennifer Anniston," I said. "No problem," she said. The stylist reassured me that no such thing would happen, she would just add texture to my long bob that I'd worked to grow out from a short bob over the past nine months. Well, snip, snip, and thirty minutes later, I have exactly what I didn't ask for -- aggressive layers that are going to take me another nine months to grow out to where I was before this chop. But hey, we all make mistakes. Maybe I was not clear in my request. Maybe she heard something in my request that I didn't intend. Maybe I was just being self-critical or overly dramatic, and maybe the cut was okay after all. I decided to just deal with it, because after all, it's just hair and it'll grow back. My husband and friends reassured me it looks great, so I made peace with it. But then earlier this week, I saw a colleague who I hadn't seen in months, and who had commented prior to this cut about how much she loved my hair. What did she say this time? "Oh! You changed your hair. So pretty! It looks like Jennifer Anniston's in Friends!" I hate to give it anything less than three stars because the stylists were also amazingly nice, and Arrojo does great color and highlights. But here's my tip, Brooklyners: buy the amazing cream whip styling creme here (it is the BEST), then call Martha Ellen at Headchop on Berry & 8th to cut your hair. She listens and she gives the BEST dry cuts in NYC. You'll see what she's doing so you'll never end up with a Jennifer Anniston. read more

I came to the Arrojo Williamsburg after years of looking for a true stylists and colorists - I can now say finally feel complete! Lucy (for color) and Jess (for cut) showed me the light for what a hair cut experience should be! When I arrived I was greeted by several members of the team as they made sure I was comfortable. I was meeting with Lucy for color first, but Jess took time to meet with me to see my current "style" and discuss a few options. After meeting with Jess, then Lucy took the time to consult with me as it was my first time getting color. They both did an INCREDIBLE job. I felt like she listened to what I said and followed through with a cut that I liked (which for me is rare because I tend to be very critical). I had the most horrific hairdressing experience of my life here. I read the great reviews and since this salon is just around the corner from my apartment , I gave it a go. I went in for a balayage and trim. Explained to the colorist that I had some bleach underneath my brown dye. She then proceeded to lighten my hair. The whole bottom half of my long bob was burned and quite literally fell off in clumps as she washed it. She tried to say 'it was normal'. The manager kept me waiting for 20 minutes to speak to him as my hair kept pulling out in clumps. Moral of the story. Had to get my hair chopped off in a pixie cut. A different lady Isabel cut my hair and in fairness to her she did a good job of rescuing the absolute disaster. I am in two minds as whether to sue for negligence. It was an incredibly distressing weekend experience and I hope the colorist who did my hair gets sacked. read more

I don't like to write bad reviews, but sometimes you just have to lay it down. Also, for the record, everyone was lovely, but I am now stuck with this hair. I went in to get a my previous bad color job saved. It still doesn't look how I wanted, but it's an improvement. It took 4 hours. I was feeling ok about it. I did need a hair cut, so I said, yeah lets do it. Now I have the worst hair cut I have ever gotten in NYC. I am devastated. I look like a shaggy dog, with horrible layers, and nothing can be done, because now it is too short to do anything other than a pixie cut. I am crushed. My hair looks a mess!!!!!! read more

I went to get my hair trimmed and layered today. I was so scared because everyone I had gone to prior had messed my hair up SO badly...So badly that I had not gone to a salon in 3 years. My ends were dry,split and matting together. My curls were even starting to look very dull so i decided to take a chance...and let me tell you it was money well spent. Jennifer was my stylist today and she did an amazing job I explained to her how I wanted more volume and not to take too much off the ends because I did not want to loose my length...now...for my ladies with curly hair you all know the struggle of going to get your hair trimmed and 2 inches end up looking like 6-7 depending on how much your curls shrink...so needless to say inside I was terrified. Jen trimmed all my dead ends, layered my hair, gave it beautiful body and still left my length. She also took the time and explained the products she wanted to use in my hair, why she wanted to use them and asked before applying. She didn't rush and really took her time doing my hair and the outcome proves that. So ladies if you have curly hair I HIGHLY recommend trusting your curls with Jen she will take care of you. read more

Amazing, I won't trust anyone else with my color. Lucy is the best! I've never gotten a cut here but I imagine they're great too (separate stylists. My colorist doesn't cut hair). They also have arroyo products that I really like and smell great. Everyone is super friendly. The biggest draw back is that it's a far walk from the L train--about 15, 20 minutes.
