I came to Jenni 3 years ago, and I have followed her everywhere. Now she runs her own salon, doin the damn thang. She has taken me from long to short to purple to blond and back again. What I love about Jenni is that she will always be straight with you when it comes to what can/can't and should/should not be done with your hair. She would rather see you do what's best for the health and look of your hair than just take your money, like a lot of salons that couldn't care less. Most importantly, it's obvious that this is a passion for her. She truly is one of the best stylist/colorists in NYC. There's always wine (or other tasty spirits) to sip while you wait and get comfy inside or out on the patio...chill vibe, jazz music. It's a Speak Easy salon, what's not to love?! ***for the ladies, I wanted to get my hair colored one particular date and Jenni asked if I was about to go on my period...what a strange question! From the relaxed atmosphere of her speak easy style salon at her domicile to the excellent haircuts and interesting reading material, the entire experience was very enjoyable. I normally get my hair cut home in Philly, but whenever I come to BK, I'll be seeking Jenni out for styling. She's very professional and incredibly talented, and prices are too reasonable. The way they answered phone -HELLO - I the customer said Hi Good morning RESPONSE I GET who is this? So me the customer now thinking I have the wrong number respond is this the Do or Dye salon? Again the RESPONSE I GET Who is this? So I ask again I'm sorry is this the Do or Dye Salon? RESPONSE I get YES WHY ARE YOU ASKING? It is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to find someone who will invest in you as a client - who will take into account your maintenance habits, budget, and personality when working with you. These are all things that Jenni evaluates when you step into her chair. She takes the time to sort out *what is right for you* based on the above rather than just sending you on you way. I've been going to Jenni for 4 years. We've done crazy multi-tone tropical parrot/mermaid colors and also a more subtle ash blondes. We've done weird editorial asymmetrical bowl cuts and regular shaggy layers. After I change things up with Jenni, it seems like everyone starts copying my lewk. Bottom line = trust this witch. There are very few stylists in NYC who can capably execute difficult color requests. Some will wrinkle their noses at the mention of "platinum" and advise that all your hair will fall out, others will gleefully slap on bleach without a query or thought, still others will charge you hundreds of dollars for a subpar color. Still others will give you a great color that goes downhill. Jenni is none of the above. At the enthusiastic recommendation of a well-coiffed friend, I headed over to Brooklyn to see what the fuss was about. What I got was a well-priced, beautifully executed platinum, a wealth of helpful tips, a glass of white wine and honesty where it was necessary. Weeks later, my color and my hair is in wonderful condition. I am now planning my next visit. read more

Jenni is an absolute lifesaver. Not only is she a fantastic, no-bullshit colorist, but she has a razor-sharp sense of style and won't let you walk out looking anything less than stunning. I've gotten more compliments since she started doing my hair than I possibly ever have in my life. Accept no substitutions: I always leave feeling fantastic, and my hair is the healthiest it's ever been (and I've gone platinum from near-black, so that's no small matter).
