Family Friends Veterinary Hospital

(84 reviews)

Review for Family Friends Veterinary Hospital…read more Over the years, we've taken a lifetime series of hounds and bulldogs to Family Friends. I've always wondered why they chose the name Family Friends. At first, I assumed it was because pets are members of the family, and the name had a nice ring to it. Over the past few days, I understand it differently. Family Friends are truly friends to our family. It's a large practice with a remarkable staff--every one of them kind, caring, knowledgeable, and professional. Many practices achieve "friendly." Family Friends has created something more: a place where each staff member steps forward like a true friend, without hesitation, and goes the extra mile. That sets them apart. This past week, as we worked to connect with specialty veterinary services for our dog, Family Friends exchanged supportive emails, answered questions, and listened patiently as we tried to talk through tears. They took time with every visit, showed genuine care, and did everything they could to help us move forward. Their kindness has made a very difficult time feel less overwhelming. Friends are awesome; friends who also know what they are doing--each and every one of them--are deeply appreciated. We do not yet know the outcome for our dog. What we do know is that, whatever lies ahead, we have been supported by wonderful people, and their care has meant a great deal to our small family of two people and two dogs. Family Friends has lived up to its name in ways we never expected. - Carol G.

They take the time to explain things clearly, offer practical advice for care at home, and never push unnecessary services. Their urgent care hours have also been an incredible help to our family. Some visits have been especially difficult due to heartbreaking diagnoses, and their kindness and support during those moments have meant so much to us.

Feeling disappointed. We've brought our animals here for years and have always come to our…read moreappointments. Today I called to set up an appointment for my daughter's guinea pigs and was told they have a new policy. They are now charging ahead of time a fee of $91 per guinea pig just to make the appointment, as a down payment before they're even seen. The woman on the phone said it was because some customers don't show up for their appointments. So, East Veterinary Clinic has decided that everyone else will now apparently be punished for those that don't show up. I told her that was too bad because we would need to wait until next week for pay day then, to schedule an appointment since we can't schedule unless we pay $182 now. My chiropractor does this too but they simply take your credit card info and hold unto it unless you don't show up to your appointment and are then charged a fee. Only the person who fails to show up is charged, not everyone else. Yes, they apply that $182 towards your appointment once there, but for college students like my daughters, that's a lot of money. They live paycheck to paycheck. They were going to get paid on the Thursday before the appointment on Friday, and it wouldn't have been a problem. I understand the Clinics frustrations with no-shows, but I think they need to find a better solution for this. My daughter called a few other veterinarian places and they do not have this policy. So, just be aware that now to make an appointment at East Veterinary Clinic in Holland, you will need to pay for your visit ahead of time. If you are unable to do that, there are other clinics in the area that told us they do not do this.

I know doctor can't give sick cat with fever rabies vaccine. My other doctor from Indiana was correct, She exam my different cat, Jilly and found out that she had fever, She can't give her rabies vaccine until she get better and have no fever. Google show that sick cat with fever can't have rabies vaccine. They went ahead and give Chessie rabies vaccine. They didn't care about her allergy and fever. I took her to other vets for allergy vaccine many times since 2017 and don't require rabies vaccine. They care about staff and don't care if sick cats and dogs die from rabies vaccine. They just want to make money. They sucks.

And they know how to handle each situation and make me feel comfortable and calm. The vet techs are absolutely amazing and know just how to properly handle my babies. I recently took my 4 year old Pitty Luna to have her ears checked out, DURING all this Covid-19 quarantine stuff. They handled themselves VERY well. The set up was smart and efficient. They took care of my baby even though I couldn't go back with her, which made her super scared and anxious. I was expecting a big... HUGE bill, her ears I already suspected were infected, she was in pain. I can't believe I paid under $200 for ear cleaning, 2 months of nexguard, sick visit and ear meds!? SO happy!! She came out with CLEAN ears, on meds and the doctor and tech throughly explained everything and answered ALL of my overwhelming questions lol I wholeheartedly recommend this vet clinic! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my fur babies

Dr. Martin assessed my dog to see if she could do entropion surgery and said she could do it…read morealthough it would be challenging. She said it may need some "tweaking" afterwards if enough wasn't removed but she would rather do that than take off too much skin. The cost was about $2000. After my dog healed from the surgery, it was like nothing had been done and he still suffers from the same problems with his eyes. When I called her to ask that she perform a revision, she refused to help me in any way, was extremely rude, said I was untrustworthy, and refused to refund my money. I've never encountered anything like this. I'm just out of $2000 and will now have to come up with more money to take him elsewhere. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone!!! She is the one that is untrustworthy, extremely unprofessional and is obviously out to take people's money.
