I went to Dr.Arroyo as a first time visit to a chiropractor. I'm 28 and I'm great health, but was burdened by lingering minor back pain from an unknown cause. I'd never been to a chiropractor so didn't exactly know where to start when looking. I came across this yelp page and only found it fair to contribute here after my visit. Dr.Arroyo was great and I appreciated the educational aspect of the visit alongside the actual lower back correction. I'm someone who wants to know the "why" behind the treatment and any visit to a care specialist in general. He did a great job of deducting cause of pain and pinpointing exactly how to help. After the correction (like a concentrated lower back crack which felt amazing) I felt immediate relief. I'd say almost 75% of the pain was immediately lifted. It took about two weeks after the visit to get back to normal. I was just happy to go to the gym again and carry on with my regular routine. I've been working with Dr. Shpritz for more than three years now. I usually go in once a month, but with COVID, it had been a couple months since my last visit. Between days at my home desk filled with back-to-back videoconference calls and the stress of the pandemic, I was starting to experience headaches, fatigue, soreness, and stiffness. There are not enough amazing things I can say about Helaine Shpritz! She is a healer and a chiropractor all in one. I started seeing her a little over a year ago with back pain and hip pain due to carrying around my two young kids. I now visit her almost weekly. He genuinely cares about his patients and puts a lot of time and energy in getting to know their specific problems. I had a herniated disc and chronic pain for over two years (in my late 20's). Dr. Shpritz is absolutely wonderful. One afternoon, after years of not having an adjustment, I was completely uncomfortable and called to inquire if their office took my insurance. She took my info down, and got back to me fairly quickly. Sensing the urgency in my voice, she told me to come in that afternoon. My first visit to see her changed my life. Dr. Shpritz knows her stuff. When I come in, she asks me how the body is feeling, and she gets right to it. She explains what's she's doing, she puts you at ease. She even gave me a few stretching exercises to do at home, to help keep me loose in between visits. I'm on my feet long hours, the job takes its toll on me. I see Dr. Shpritz one a week and I feel so much lighter afterwards, every time. Even my coworkers have noticed and comment that I look like I've had a heavy weight taken off my shoulders. Helaine is a skilled healer. I love that Helaine makes adjustments specific to each visit and uses a variety of modalities to reduce pain and improve well-being, including cupping, chiropractic, and essential oils. She also thinks ahead about future treatments and issue areas that she wants to target. I store my stress in my shoulders and neck, and being a freelance photographer does not help this tendency. In the last year, my stress has traveled to my jaw exacerbating my TMJ. Helaine has worked wonders with my TMJ. I have known both Drs here professionally and personally for over a decade now and can't say enough about their practice. Helaine was there for me 4 years ago on the day that my back gave out for the first time. Both Dr. Arroyo and Dr. Shpritz are amazing, and I've gone to both, but mainly, I personally see Dr. Arroyo, and have been seeing him since March of 2009! As a designer/architect, I've told Dr. Arroyo that this is all about the architecture of the body...he continues this theory with body, mind, and spirit dialogue while you are with him during your session, and then discusses how not only is chiropractic care healing, but it is also preventative in nature. From the vibe when you come into the office, to during your session/Q&A, to the goodbye, is calming, restorative, and positive. I have seen Dr. Arroyo numerous times since a fall at bay to breakers...hmmm not sure how that one happened, but he is amazing. My friend got me the appointment with him after seeing that I could barley walk. I have seen Dr. Arroyo 3 times in the past week and a few days and he's fantastic. I'm not going to compare to my other chiropractors, who I also loved, but I will say, he's very patient (ie doesn't interrupt me when I'm telling a story like the other chiropractor who didn't work out and referred me to him). Dr. Arroyo feels around the muscles and bones for some time before making any adjustments. He gets to understand your spine and actually remembers the feel of your spine from one appointment to the next (without cheating with a chart). He seems to know what you need for your health and does it, no more no less. What more could you need? The scheduling could be a bit more difficult for the regular 9-5ers, but not a problem for me in semi-employed land. read more

To the reviewer who goes for work-related back stress and "general clumsiness," rofl, and me too! Ever watch Eddie Izzard's Dressed To Kill? My only knowledge of chiropractic care came from that before going to see Dr. Shpritz. "C'mon, make that sound! Make... that... SOUND!!!" "I don't think my neck goes that way... cr-crick!" Really though, I had hip and lower back pain from a knee injury - compensating for the injury made me walk funny. My physical therapist who was helping my knee move again suggested seeing a chiropractor. And 7 years of 14-hr days at the computer put a reverse curve in my neck with constant tightness I was ready to accept as irreversible damage. Dr. Shpritz suggested twice-weekly adjustments for a month, then less and less frequent visits afterwards. I was on a company health insurance plan, so I figured I'd give it a try. You could explain to me over and over how chiropractic adjustments work, and I don't know if I'll ever understand fully, but what I do know is that after a month the neck stiffness started giving way, and after a few months my neck and back pain went from 100% of the time to 20% of the time - and a fraction of the intensity. I'd say now it's 10% of the time, and that's mostly when I'd slept funny and woke up with a sore neck or hadn't gotten off the laptop for a long stretch. I don't have that cushy insurance plan anymore (use it if you've got it!), but I still go for maintenance. To me, it's actually preferable to a massage. read more

I was skeptical and a little scared but was desperate. Finally a combo of high-heel wearing, poor ergo set-up, and bad lifting form did me my lower back in. I went to a Chiroractor who will remain nameless, and she told me it was all EMOTIONAL...what's that? Really? Believe me I understand I have issues.... but this back pain was PHYSICAL...so was referred by my manager to Dr. Shpritz. She is very kind and gentle. was great pointed out a few physical problems not emotional ( though I know I have those too) and then gave me some stretches to do and I do them regularly and my pain is almost completely gone! I had told Shanti that I was experiencing jaw pain due to my TMJ, Shanti then asked Helanie (Dr. Shpritz) to see if she could help with my pain.
