I was in a dire predicament this past Saturday.....low oil pressure warning light was alarmng, and I was 400 miles from home. Thisi wonderful shop was able to inspect my vehicle on short notice and on a very hectic and busy Saturday. They did a very thorough inspection that revealed that the problem was not serious. They also went "above and beyond" to point out some other items that needed attention on my vehicle. Some shops might have taken advantage of the fact that i was hundreds of miles from home and sold me things i did not need but this honest shop did not do so. I am grateful for this.. The man (i am very bad with names, sorry) seemed genuinely concerned about my vehicle making the 400 mile trek back home, and was very kind. I give this shop my highest possible recommendation. I came here an hour before closing, desperate to fix my AC that broke down during the hottest week of the year. We went to this place to get the car door fixed. Staff here were very welcoming, friendly and very polite. They were very honest with the issues we had on the car. They got our car fixed at a very reasonable and affordable price. They also work with rental car companies to help us get a great one while the car was being fixed. I had to get back to work at a certain time and when he said he can get it done within that time frame, he got it done exactly that. Dealership charged me $900 for oil change and back brakes before. Jim fixed my 2006 Toyota Prius brakes that another independent Pasadena mechanic twice AND the Toyota of Pasadena dealer said were fine -- but they were not! He said they were both apparently too lazy to look at the rear where the brake shoes were almost gone!!! Now my car brakes work correctly again and driving feels good again! He diagnosed and fixed my intermittent air conditioning problem for me on the day we hit 114 degrees :( - and now I'm driving cool! Called Arroyo on a Friday afternoon to get an immediate oil change since I topped off my oil with the wrong type. They were able to see me, listened carefully to my concerns and put the car on the lift. Jim pointed out a few other issues, including a front bumper panel that had popped out. He fixed the panel, checked out several other issues, and said I didn't need an oil change, all at no charge! Very thoughtful & trustworthy! ONE TIP - it's hard to find. I went to my dealership about a month prior and knew I was coming up on a break pad change soon. I spent the last few weeks looking for a good shop that could get this done at a fair price. I was really happy to find Arroyo Auto Center, because it's conveniently located and when I called and spoke with Jim, the customer service was excellent. It is unfortunate but my tire was completely flat again the very next morning after this service. While the service here was attentive and quick, I cannot help but think that having a completely deflated tire again the very next morning was a sign of carelessness. I was told there was no need for a replacement tire and that my car was good to go after the repair but now I'm not sure this is the case. I have had to deal with the same problem before in the past and this has never been the outcome. I am sad to say I have to rate down Arroyo Auto Center for that reason. At the very least, the tire lasted enough to drive back my long commute toward home later during the day. My car is now stranded at my home though awaiting repair of the bad tire. read more

Jim is very straight to the point. He SHOWS you exactly what is wrong with your car and makes suggestions without making you feel like you're gonna die if you don't purchase from them, like most mechanics. He makes it known that he's about honesty and the people, not the money. I've been to several different auto shops and they've always tried to sell me something I don't need. Fair prices: $20 for an oil change, and you really can't beat his other prices. Jim is the most honest, humble, family-oriented mechanic I've come across. He makes you feel like family, not customers. Every repair and oil change he's done on my car has kept up to par and remained fixed (a problem I used to encounter before coming to him).
