I cannot recommend Crown City Tire in Pasadena enough! They have officially earned a life-long customer after my recent service appointments. They accommodated my BMW i3 last minute for an oil change. In less than two hours, they called me back with a comprehensive, digital inspection report of my car--complete with pictures. They flagged some damage to a back tire and recommended swapping out just the rear tires. They were able to order and stock the specific tires that very same day! The entire operation is unbelievably seamless. No matter who I spoke to over the phone, they were knowledgeable, friendly, and completely on top all things relating to my car. They even offered a shuttle service for both drop-off and pick-up while my car was being worked on, making the whole process incredibly convenient. SCAM SHOP! Took my car in for a flat tire and told me it was not repairable and I needed a new tire (I knew it was fine). I told them no and asked to just put my spare on as a courtesy. Guy at the front desk charged me $40. Absolute joke. I took my car to my normal shop and they patched my tire no problem for only $30. Do not come here. They will try to rip you off. read more

Amazing local tire shop/mechanic! I had been needing new tires for a while, but since I'm new out here I was hesitant to trust just anybody with my car. I found Crown City while scrolling through mechanics on Yelp and was really impressed with their reviews. I got off work early on a Friday and called around 1pm to see if they could take me, though they were busy, they asked if I could drop my car off and I agreed. I can't remember what the guys name on the phone was but he was super nice when I called, I want to say his name was Robert but I feel like I'm so wrong lol. When I arrived though, Leo was the one who helped me out and he was awesome, such a nice and cool guy, he explained everything thoroughly and was so personable when we weren't talking about my car. I was already sold on this place with the amazing service and then they pulled up one of their company cars to shuttle me home while my car was at the shop... this place was outstanding for sure!! They helped me find two rear tires that fit all my needs and were within my budget. All in time for the crazy storm we are supposed to get! I found this place on Yelp after realizing that I needed new tires. I used to go to Mountain View over in Eagle Rock, which was great but not worth the not so far trip. I was so happy with the service here at Crown City, they were all so helpful and kind, and not to mention incredibly knowledgeable. I had my tires replaced, which was a reasonable price, and went home. That night I was leaving for a trip, only to run over a huge nail on the freeway with my new tire, talk about luck. We took it in the next morning and immediately patched it up and sent us on our way. They were so quick and apologetic over something that was completely out of their control. Update: Received a quick response from the owner, Thomas, via Yelp after I posted. He made it a point to take care of this incident personally. I received my refund and he offered complimentary, future services for the inconveniences. A great example of a small business doing what they can to make things right. Original Post: Called in to get a last minute tire repair. A couple patches needed. They were able to accommodate me without a prior reservation. Front desk / receptionists are friendly. Process is easy and straightforward. Those are the only reasons I am giving this place 2 stars instead of 1. I watched the technician remove the single tire that was punctured. He took it to the back to repair it. The entire repair took about 45 mins, which is pretty standard. When I got the keys back, the tire was fully inflated. I drove about 50 mins from South Pasadena to Garden Grove (95% freeway) and when I arrived at my destination, the low tire pressure light came back on. I checked the tire and noticed that a hole was plugged but I couldn't confirm if it was patched from the inside. However, the issue was that there was a second hole right next to the plug that was not repaired. I got a water bottle mixed with soap and sprayed it on the surface. I took photos of my odometer and of the bubbles forming due to the escaping air and emailed info@crowncitytire.com which they provided on their website. I requested a refund since I had to take it to another location for another repair. Two weeks went by and I didn't get a single response. I called the business and was told that someone would contact me in the next day or two. I asked to make sure the email was correct and the receptionist confirmed. It has been about 2 more weeks and I have not gotten a call or response to my email. So now I'm leaving this 2 star review. read more

I used to love bringing my car here, but after the last service I'm going elsewhere. Strongly recommend other women who come here do the same. When I found this place, there were two women working the front desk and they were both great. They called with prompt updates, were always very careful in explaining everything, and most importantly they actually spoke to me instead of ignoring me in favor of my husband. Now there are two guys working the front desk who have decided that MY Camaro that I paid for actually just belongs to my husband. They don't even say hello to me when I walk into the reception area, much less anything else. The last time we went to pick my car up after spending $3000 on service, I walked to the desk and my husband deliberately sat down and stared at his phone so Steven and Leo might actually address me and still they just wanted to talk to him. They have a new computer system and four times now they've blamed that as the reason they believe it's my husband's car. Each time the error has supposedly been corrected and not to be repeated. Today when they reached out to my phone number they again called me by my husband's name. It's micro aggression at its finest. Beyond the disrespectful nature of the front desk service, the also gave my car back to me without replacing the tail lights that were listed as needing attention when I dropped it off, and the tire pressure in one of my rear tires was five pounds under the other three which after an alignment seems nuts. It's little stuff that I can fix myself, but it's just crappy on top of an already sub par experience. read more

Had a great experience with Crown City Tire. My tire was flat and I found the metal shard that had punctured it. I had my car towed to the place and asked if they could repair the tire rather than replace it. This car was a lease and the lease was just about up -- two weeks from now! I did not want to pay for a whole new tire just to return the tire with the car. They looked at the puncture and removed the shard, and said they could try to repair, but no guarantees. I left the car there for them to work it. Later that afternoon I got the call: yes, it could be repaired! I was so grateful. I saved a ton of money on a new tire. They displayed honesty and skill. I took a chance with most of the positive reviews but as in the real world, everyone's individual experience is different. Before going, I made sure to call to see if I could drop my car off but also wanted to ask if they could also take a look at my rear lights, since they needed to be replaced - I know this is a tire repair but living in a time-is-money kind of situation, I tried to kill two birds with one stone. If they had told me it was not possible, no problem. However, the young lady on the phone assured me they could take a look at it and to bring my car in. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the employees. Routinely completed all the paperwork and was informed they needed an hour, before the technician could look at my car. I was fine with this since I anticipated a long wait time. While waiting, another employee asked me about my rear light and which one needed fixing. I let her know which one it was. After receiving another update from an employee, different from the first, I handed her my twilight covers and bulbs and she just gave me a blank stare. Before even speaking, she was annoyed. I recapped what I had talked about on the phone along with her coworker and she stated, "Oh. I will try my best to fit this in. That's the best I can do." I said I understood and didn't want to start an argument. Again, this is a tire repair place but they did inform me they would be able to look at it and repair it if there was time. I returned two hours later after being informed the tire could not be fixed. To my detriment, I was quoted two tires for $500 since this was the recommendation for balance (See other reviews). I said I wanted to get a second opinion. They quickly discounted the tires by a few dollars. I still wanted a second opinion. Before leaving, I asked for my rear light covers and they were in the same exact same spot I left them, with the employee. It seems that she completely forgot about them and to top it all off, when I asked her for them, she gave me attitude! Ultimately, I got a second opinion and I was glad I did my research. I took my Tesla in for an alignment. I believe David was the young man that helped me. He was very sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful. I think it only took about 45 minutes total time to do the repair. I also asked if they replaced the cabin filters, and was told they do that for a very reasonable price. I will be going back for that. the shop is really clean and all the guests arriving looked like repeat customers. I am planning on going back for issues that don't require a Tesla shop. This morning on my way to work (around 6:30am) my tire light came on in my Audi Q5. I pulled over and saw a screw sticking out of my right front tire. My colleagues told me that all of our company work vehicles (and many of their personal vehicles) get service done at Crown City Tire Auto Care and I that I should check them out as they provide excellent service. I went to Crown City at 8am and I was greeted by both Robert and Leo. They both were so incredibly kind and knowledgable. I told them I had to go to work and if it was okay to leave my car there. I worked down the street, so they offered to drop me off at work. When my car was finished, they sent me a text. When I arrived back to Crown City, I again was greeted by both Robert and Leo. We shared some laughs and then I was on my way back to work with a repaired tire. I had such a great experience there and I left with a smile on my face. Wow, what happened to this place? Six years ago I gave them a 5 star review and kept bringing my car here for general service, oil changes, minor repairs, and only ever had great things to say about them. But the last time I came here was the LAST time I will ever bring my car to Crown City Tires. I came in for an oil change and they gave me a call partway through the day to let me know that I should probably get a new battery and replace the air filters. The price they quoted me for the battery was around $200. I agreed to all that as I knew the air filters and battery were pretty old. They told me my car would be ready to go by the end of the day and that I could pick it up before they close at 5:30. When I showed up around 5:15, they told me that the $200 battery was actually not the correct one and that I would need a $400 battery. $400???! I have a very basic car that's over 10 years old. I've never paid that much for a battery in my life. I told them I wouldn't be spending that much and to put my old battery back. They kept pressuring me to get the $400 battery because that's just what it would cost because of the model of my car. I kept saying no but they kept pushing. They even had the mechanic bring in my old battery to point out the corrosion. It felt very condescending. I already knew it had some corrosion - I still didn't want to spend $400 on the battery. A few days later I took my car to AutoZone and got a perfectly fine battery for $200 and they installed it in minutes. The people at AutoZone told me that this mechanic was trying to upsell me and take advantage of me as there is no way I needed a $400 battery. In addition to that, AutoZone told me that I was way overcharged for the air filters and it was about double what they charge. And if all that wasn't enough, when I dropped off my car at Crown City Tire, the man at the front desk made a really weird, off-putting, inappropriate comment/joke(???) about children. It made me really uncomfortable and is not something that should be said in a professional situation. There used to be women working at the front desk -either they were all off that day or they don't work there anymore - but for multiple reasons, as a woman walking into an auto shop, this visit made me feel very uncomfortable and disrespected. Oh and all the mechanics at AutoZone are men too, but they made me feel very welcome and were very genuine and honest. I drove to my job just fine from Burbank , I left to get lunch and discovered my tire completely flat. Roadside came and put air in the tire and said there was a small puncture that could be patched so I drove to Crown City, my nearest tire shop, 0.4 mile away After waiting 45 minutes after drop-off, (please note at time of drop-off, the tire still had air, was not flat) I received a call that the tire was "driven too long on flat and too damaged to be patched" according to crown I needed a new tire, quoted $230 for a Honda Civic or they couple put the spare on. Considering I've had many patches done in my lifetime and this car and tires are 4 months old, and was never driven on flat, I chose just to ride on a spare and go elsewhere. Upon pickup, they wanted to charge $42 for "installing the spare", I wasn't quoted this when they called otherwise I would've just installed myself! After a little frustration, the kind front desk girl did not charge me, hence 2 stars instead of one. Ultimately, I assume since they're the only tire shop in the area, they want to upsell and overcharge, so if u can, just go elsewhere, where I was able to get a patch in 20 minutes for only $20 over the $40 they wanted to charge read more

The potholes got my left front tire. It started out as a slow leak. The parking lot attendant at my office building told me about this place. I've lived and worked in Pasadena for about 25 years and never heard of this place Its on a side street and a little hidden across the street from a private school and next-door to a nursery. I took my car in, and after a brief inspection they saw that there was a bubble on the side wall and that the tire was irreparable. I have run flat tires on my Mercedes and so they had to order the tire. They ordered it and the next day they called me in the morning to say they had received it. I went in and in 30 minutes they had my tire replaced. The customer service from everyone from the tire repair guy to the front office was stellar. They really know how to treat a customer they're very professional and courteous. This is going be my go to place for from now on. read more

I needed to purchase 2 new tires immediately as I had a very important meeting the following day put of town. I called Crown City and spoke with Florence. She was extremely helpful and professional. She quoted me a affordable price for the 2 tires. Even going the extra mile to make sure that they could be put on the same day (even when it's 2pm). I brought my car to them. I needed a service and new brakes on my car and was looking for a new mechanic to work with. I decided to go with crown city. Making an appointment was a breeze and I had the pleasure of working with Robert. I was absolutely blown away by this shop and Robert. Dropped off my car in the morning, and before lunch, I had the most comprehensive and detailed inspection report I've ever seen. These guys inspected every wear and tear item and sent me photos. They were super honest about what needed work and Robert talked to me through each inspection item. Almost everything was still in good condition and the only items that I was recommended to change was my brakes (which I came in expecting). No upsells, no extra fees. After the inspection, I okayed the work and the car was ready to be picked up before end of day. Work was very clean, shop was very clean, staff I interacted with were great.
