I just had the best experience at Arsenal and want everyone to know it. First of all, I've had this spot saved as a bookmark on my yelp account for months... Not really sure what took so long. GO to the Arsenal Taproom!! For so many reasons. You'll love this place if you like beer, cider, meade, wine, cocktails, grilled cheese, bao buns, tater tots, pretzel bites..... OR all of the above. Horrible customer service! Tried calling in an order for 30 minutes and never got an answer. Then my husband got to the restaurant since we couldn't place our order in advance. Food is great, beer is great, and the location is great. However, the way they handle public relations is ridiculously stupid. Their phone is completely unmonitored, and they refer you to their social media accounts if you want to get in touch. The issue with that is, there is no way to message them via social media AND they have the unmonitored phone line advertised... which essentially just has you running in circles. You literally cannot call in an order to-go, which sucks big time, because I like the food, but I don't always feel like sitting down for a long meal. I like this place. Good beer selection and knowledgeable staff. Only hit for star is the fact they raise rates by 25-40% the week leading up to and through the Masters. So happy that Yelp helped us find this neighborhood gem!! We stopped on a long drive for lunch and had two of the best hot sandwiches we've ever had. Arsenal hand cuts all of their meats. Their pulled pork gets a rub, a sous vide, a slow smoke. We chose the 'build your own' and each had diff bread, meats, cheeses, goodies. We literally were humming! You know when you eat something that's amazing, and you are already plotting how to get back?? Arsenal is that place. My husband of 31 years ended our meal with this: 'man I'm so bummed that my sandwich experience is over'. Sandwich Experience. A phrase the man has never used in his life. But it summed it up. Lastly we met the manager Frank and he was so passionate about the establishment and super friendly. They've increased their outdoor seating by 30% during Covid. And their Biergarten area out back has heaters. He asked and remembered our names. And I have no doubt he'd remember us next time. We Highly Recommend Arsenal. Oh and their bourbon list?? This place is such a hidden gem in Augusta. The décor and ambiance is one of a kind. This place is laid back yet upscale. I was very shocked to see one of my favorite bartenders behind the bar. There were a lot of beer on tap that I never heard of so Frankie asked me what do I usually drink and he matched me up with a great one. I also ordered some type of burger and it was delicious. We were out celebrating a friend's birthday and the staff was awesome, we offered them cake and they accepted. One of the severs named Tom really kept our crew entertained. This is probably my favorite place to come enjoy food, beer, and good company in Augusta. We often come here in large groups and enjoy a dinner on the back patio. It is incredibly beautiful! There are string bulbs, greenery everywhere you look, and there are even tall kerosene heaters for the cooler weather. This is really the only place I can enjoy good, craft, and even local, beer. They always have rotating drafts and I get something new and limited every time. The loaded tots are great! I really enjoy adding pimento cheese and tomato to any sandwich- pro tip! I never thought a restaurant, who's main menu item was grilled cheese, could be so good. My expectations were low and my experience amazing. All 4 of us ordered different items and each and every one was crazy good!!!! Their beer menu is unique and varied, with something for everyone. The outdoor heaters gave us the opportunity to enjoy an alfresco dining experience that otherwise wouldn't have been possible. If we'd known, we could have brought our pups to enjoy an evening out. The indoor decor and atmosphere was warm and friendly and the bartender, Frankie, made everyone feel like a friend. We went on a whim, glad we did. It's small but in a historic part of Augusta. The decoration was awesome, and has an outdoor seating area. The menu is small, but well thought out. We tried two of the dishes and they were both awesome, though too much focus on tater tots is not necessarily a good thing. Not many beverages on tap, but the selection of whisky, Bourbon and Scotch is extensive for a small place like this. And well thought out. They also have mead which is unusual (in a good way) and a "tell" that they've thought through their offerings. Granted -- we're biased since they had mead from a meadery that we had visited in Arizona previously. Great place for an after-work adult beverage if you are in the area, and I was thrilled with the food. It's pub fare level food, but well thought out and tasty. I shouldn't "plug" a competing establishment, but The Arsenal and The Indian Queen have a very similar vibe but with their own take of things. If you've been to the Indian Queen and liked it, you'll probably like The Arsenal as well. To be clear though, the food is not really the reason to visit but this is probably the best pub-level food I've had in a long time and probably the best in Augusta though if elevated tater tots and elevated grilled cheese is not your thing then factor that in. read more

This place prides itself on grilled cheese. The sandwiches range from 4 to 11 bucks. The sides are basically regular and sweet potato tater tots. I can't speak for the taste yet as I just had beer on my visit. The beer prices are pretty good especially when compared to their competitors. 1 to 2 bucks cheaper for a 14 oz pour vs 10 to 12 oz pour at the other places. Hurray! They use printed menus! They have 2 menus. One is what they have on tap with the other letting you know what is coming up so you can plan a future visit. The inside is good looking, clean and warm with a pretty decent sized outside beer garden. Also the place is setup for people to share tables and benches, so be ready to be friendly The bartender is very nice and engaging and he made sure to know his guests by name. That being said, there are some items that need work. Where I sat at the bar, a server kept reaching across me even after she spilt something on the menu I was looking at. Purse hooks are needed under the bar. The place reflects noise, making it loud. Forr the price of the food, throw on a handful of potato chips to make it a complete meal. This is probably the most unusual place i have been to in a long time, and I travel the world! First off the place is a small space and when you walk in seating is sparse. A communal table in the center and shelf type seating along the window wall. Straight in past that is a small den area for seating as well and this is where we sat. We sat on the couches and once past the couch edge you fall into a hole, so uncomfortable. Menu is small grilled cheese sandwiches, tots, soup , salad and a few appetizers. We tried the plain tots: they were ok had a nice crisp to them. Then we ordered the Deliverance grilled cheese: pulled pork, Mac-n-cheese and pickles. It was ok nothing special as far as taste or anything, pork was good. And I ordered the tomato soup. OMG it was some of THE WORST soup i have ever had. It tasted like spaghetti sauce with a bottle of ketchup mixed in. It looked more like ketchup then tomato soup very dark red. And it was SOOOO sweet! I don't know, it baffled me as to why any good cook would think it was good tomato soup. BUT, that isn't even the oddest thing about the place. Once you place an order they "TAKE YOUR CREDIT CARD" to hold while you are eating. We were just floored. I'm keeping an eye on my card for the next few weeks. If they can't trust me to stay and pay for the food i ordered then i can't trust that my card wasn't tampered with. Would not recommend this place!! read more

If you want gourmet grill cheese and beer selection-- this is your place! One of Augusta's great hang outs! I'd give 5 stars for the outside patio area which provides a great atmosphere on a warm summer night. Also 5 stars for the beer choices (they also have cocktails, prosecco, or wine if you'd prefer, just a smaller selection). Great appetizers include the loaded tots, topped with chili and jalapeños drizzled with your choice of ranch or sour cream-- or the avocado bites which come with a tangy aioli. Went here for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday. Because it was a small group we sat at the bar and Frankie, the bartender, was very nice. He let us sample a few beers and explained the restaurant's concept. The restaurant is small and filled up quickly but everyone (staff and patrons) are so nice you don't even notice.
