They have a few of the normal pieces you can find in other independent eyewear stores and a whoooole lot of frames you won't find anywhere else. This is one of the best optical shops I have ever been to and I have been wearing glasses for decades! The service is outstanding and the selection is incomparable. They do a great job finding the best frame for your face and tastes! They have a wide variety of really different kinds of things which I loved. The glasses are not inexpensive but they provide top of the line eyeware, service and care so it is worth it. I wear my glasses everyday and they are the most important accessory. I have been a customer for over 10 plus years. the frames have always been beautiful, but Paul does not adjust the frames as he once did. He is more interested in smoking outside??? and complaining that my ears are uneven??? Unfortunately, other opticians do not want to readjust frames from another store. I was always aware of the political leanings of Paul & Starr, but I was offended by the blatant hatred flyers lying around the shop in the last few months. It is definitely their first amendment right, but I do not have to be attacked and insulted as I spend thousands of dollars in their store. I clipped out of Gambit magazine the ad for Art and Eyes and promised myself a trip there to see the beautiful frames featured in the ad. Lo and behold, when I finally got there, crossing my path coming from the store entrance was this beautiful gent, snow white hair, that was paired with a very young face, a great looking Pink (Salmon) Suit, and a Pink Derby, and a great shaped pair of glasses. I said wow! to him, and he returned a great hello, I told him he looked better than Elton John! I went inside the store and I was mesmerized. I thought I was in a wonderland ! It is absolutely beautifully showcased. There are frames for every character, mood, profession, leisure, artisan, child, teenager, occasion and fantasy. I was approached by beautiful Meredith, of whom could be placed in every region of the world and would blend easily in some form or fashion. I stated that I was looking for glasses just like the style I was wearing but more color and more daring uniqueness. Hey, Hey, Hey but not fat Albert! Meredith read me like an IOS Instruction Manual, dat's right., she came back with a dozen pair, fully thought out just from talking to me. Not like most optical places 3 pair that not even T-REX would wear, uh huh. I definitely found the frames I wanted, Meredith had all the patience in the world. Yes, there's pricey, moderate, and there's a section of beautiful frames that are priced on sale. Remember those T-REX glasses are very pricey also. A youngster that has to wear glasses would love this place. Having the option to buy glasses that fits his/her taste, and have the possibility to start a trend, make a friend, and be proud. Nobody bullies you when you're confident at any age! I met Paul (owner, and our Elton John ) and I also met Starr (owner and wife of Paul). Starr is a top Designer of formal wear, beautiful hand made masks especially thick in the area of the mouth, beautiful jewelry, clothing made of fabric to die for, Starr's handbags the most beautiful bags I've ever seen made locally, there's no stamping of designs, every scene or design is sewn by hand on the bag. . How brilliant and gifted is this, and one of a kind. Also Meredith designs her own jewelry, beautiful necklaces to snap on to hold your mask, instead of holding it under your neck. Starr and Meredith has a deep appreciation of people. Paul has a peacefulness about himself. He's ready to accommodate you with anything you need. Starr ans Paul are a match made in heaven . I was able to see them all, including Halle and Amanda (whom I met a week later), interact with male and female, all economic levels of clients/consumers (which is very important to my becoming a client anywhere) and everyone received the best of care. I said to Starr, "you should be on the series "Yellowstone". She reminds me of the leading lady on Yellowstone. Actually each staffer, including owners, have their own distinct personalities, and all of it is good. I'm still in awe about Art and Eyes. Its a wonderland for anyone male, female, children, seniors, elderly,actors, young trenders, bikers, everyone! And you don't have to wait forever for your glasses to come back. You're able to come back for adjustments at no charge. Starr, Paul, staff, are all very cognizant and serious about social distancing. You do have to make an appointment. You don't have to wait, and your desire and style is appreciated and brought to fruition. You have to go in and experience the wonderland of Arts and Eyes to appreciate in spite of the grandeur of this wonderland, its here for "Everyone". So, go and see, you're worth it. Perusing a local magazine I was mesmerized by a pair of glasses that I knew would be PERFECT for a friend of mine && here is where the review starts: Easily overlooked & missed because it's set off a bit from the street, this treasure of a store is EPIC!!! Not to be missed & if you do, your loss. 15-20 classes of seemingly one of a kind frames, this is a veritable wonderland for one in search of a unique pair of frames. The frames seems to hail from Belguim, France, Italy & others over seas places. Why are the Europeans always such trend setters??? Humph!!!! #idk, but #meloves it!!! Paul, the stylishly dressed, store owner or an employee (not sure which he was), was ever so helpful and attentive. I would be remiss in reviewing this facility if I didn't advise that the frames are more pricey then those at your local WalMart or Americas Best, but the individuality & quality is worth a few extra coins. I went to this place very excited to look for a new pair of glasses because of the beautiful, eclectic, and gorgeous selection of eyewear they had. When I walked in I was indeed blown away by their variety of frames and they do have beautiful and unique styles unlike anywhere else however..... I was shocked by their lack of customer service for being an uptown and seemingly classy local business in New Oleans. The whole staff was "very busy" helping this seemingly well-to-do lady with very expensive handbags etc....and it was obvious she was treated as more important than anyone else in the store. I was the only other customer in the store at that time. That is totally fine, but at least acknowledge or say "hello" or "I'll be with you in a few". Having worked in retail for years it is hard to imagine that the entire staff needs to assist one customer at once. I was looked at up and down by the staff without a hello or a friendly smile while I waited for over 15 minutes to be helped. I was completely ignored like I was not worth their time or I looked like I wouldn't be able to afford their glasses. FINE I can take that hint! I really wanted to support this business as a local and this was a huge disappointment considering I probably would have shelled out my hard earned money for their gorgeous frames. Whatever. I ended up being treated with way more respect and spent way less at Warby Parker up the street. Sometimes a little customer service goes a long way...this place was snotty to say the least. read more

This review is long overdue. We traveled to New Orleans for vacation in 2015 and never would have thought that I'd be shopping for new glasses. As fate would have it, we ducked into the store for some AC during a hot summer day. Starr helped us check out some of the edgy frames in the shop. We ended up buying 2 pairs of glasses and one pair of sunglasses. They even took care of calling my optometrist for my prescription. Service above and beyond expectations! I have three pairs of glasses from this shop, all great. The latest pair broke within about 6 months, after only light use. Amanda confirmed with the designer that they recognized a problem with those frames. I have others from the same company that have done good service for several years, so this is a fluke. I went into this beautiful store today. I had given up hope of finding a pair of glasses, and this was my last stop. The selection was so vast and so beautifully displayed, I wasn't sure where to start. It was like being an eight year old in Willy Wonka's factory. Normally, the glasses store is the place where you miserably try on seemingly endless pairs of unflattering glasses until you can find one pair that you can live with or hopefully actually like. However, the proprietor of this store saved me from suffering this fate. He knew what would look good on me, and he helped me find it. He was also extremely patient, while I picked frames. We probably went through forty pairs trying to get "the one". Not only did I find "the one", I found a second equally fabulous pair. After spending two hours in the shop, I discovered they weren't even open. This kind of customer service goes beyond exceptional! It's just one of the reasons I love shopping on Magazine Street - real owners who are willing to spend the time to help you find what you want. The prices were comparable to other stores that sell nice glasses, but the customer care and great selection far exceed other stores. And, you get a discount if you buy two pairs. Located on a great stretch of shops and restaurants on Magazine Street, Art & Eyes was a great (and beautiful) little boutique with hip, creative lenses and people. We all had a great time here trying on lenses and chatting up the staff while they and we gave advice to our friend. The staff was very knowledgable and offered constructive advice on which lenses worked best for each of us. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! I had the WORST experience with this place. The salespeople were really pushy, they kept pulling $600 frames of the shelf when I repeatedly told them that was out of my budget. I decided on a pair that was within my budget. The total came to three times the price of the frames. WHAT?!? WHY?!? They included a $150 glaze that I didn't want. Can I get it without the glaze? The salesgirl told me I couldn't, which is a lie!! I asked for them to be expedited, because I needed them for an important job interview. When I called the day before to make sure they were almost ready, they hadn't even started working on them. I asked them to be expedited, or I'd like my $$ back. I was told I could only receive store credit. I asked to speak with the owner, Paul I think, who got on the phone and and was UNBELIEVABLY rude!!! "Fine, will skip you ahead of the whole line, cuz you're so special, is that enough for you?" They carry a great selection and the staff are so easy, cool, chill, etc. After choosing two frames I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the folks there are from my hometown, NYC! Their selection is high-end and the service totally complements it. Super professional and very up-front about recommendations for lenses (spot-on by the way), yet such a warm and genuinely interested and interesting staff.
