First of all after saying they accepted Medicare in their advertisement they refused to do it when I got my glasses. I paid full price. After specifically saying, I did not want tinted lenses, they gave me tinted lenses. They said they gave me new lenses. My ophthalmologist looked at my glasses and said no they didn't give you new lenses. They just cleaned the film off which is why my vision has been blurry for the last two years. Plus, I was told that they gave me the wrong prescription. This is an awful awful place. Do not use this place. The worst experience I've had in 70 years of wearing glasses. I needed a new prescription for my contacts, and after calling my usual optometrist only to find out that the next available appointment was in March, I turned to Yelp for alternatives. I was fortunate to secure a Saturday appointment for the very next day, which was incredibly convenient. The professionalism exhibited by both Zeta and Dr. Beam was exceptional, making me feel comfortable and well taken care of during my visit. The eye exam was pretty standard but what stood out was the retinal imaging technology they used, which I found to be a much-needed upgrade from the traditional eye dilation method. I was also pleasantly surprised to receive a pair of free sunglasses with my one-year contact lens order. I highly recommend their services to anyone seeking eye care. The appointment wasn't smooth at all, and technician was full of attitude. Left with no care and lots of disappointment.

I was not informed that a contact exam was extra and not covered by insurance. When I called them out on this I was told, " We thought you knew." How was I supposed to know?? Just because I wore contacts 10 years ago?!?!?! I was expecting to pay about $350 for my glass lenses not an extra $200 for contacts. And then! And then, the contact "sample" I thought it was a trial sample, they made me take them out and throw them away because I refused to pay for something I didn't know I was being charged for. What an asshole move. And when you get your glasses they charge for cleaning spray. Another asshole move. Who ever manages that operation is terrible. I will only return to get my lenses. Me & my husband made an appt online for today (04/11/26), I call Wednesday (04/08/26) to verify that my insurance is good with them seeing that their website says "WE TAKE ALL INSURANCES". The woman who answered pulled up my acct, verified my info & said she will look into it. Advised if she did not call back, I would be ok. My husband gets a call 20 MINUTES before our appt to see if we have insurance which is CRAZY & highly unprofessional. Then get told that they DO NOT take my insurance so apparently their website is a lie and so are the employees. Such an unprofessional establishment. If you like being treated horribly and talked down to, visit Catherine at the Magazine location. Read the reviews, at least 4 reference this woman's poor behavior. She was so nasty to me today I was speechless that anyone allows their employees to speak to customers that way. She needs to be fired. I scheduled my annual for 1.2.25 a month before. After the incident on Bourbon Street New Year's Day, I called the morning of 1.2.25 and rescheduled. I wanted to be home and not out that day. I spoke to them in person. I showed up today, and they rebooked me at the wrong location. I explained the situation and I that I reschedule verbally with their office. She refused to help me and called me a liar. She would not fit me in, was extremely rude and unprofessional. Even when I gave up and I was walking out the door, she had to get the last word in which was: "And you didn't call here". Well, yes I did. I was so upset I was shaking. I went through my call log on my cell in the parking lot. I went back in and I showed her my outgoing calls on that day, their number and how long I spoke with them. I insisted they fit me in as it is their mistake they rescheduled me for the wrong location. She was very nasty and said she would not help me at all. I asked what she could do for me and she replied "Nothing". This was in front of two staff members and other customers. I called the location where I was scheduled improperly to. They said they have a 10 minute grace period. Due to traffic, it would take me 20 to get there. I explained the situation. They didn't care. At this point two locations have failed me. I will never return. With all the bad reviews here, I'm surprised anyone would want to put up with this. They need to fire Catherine. read more

Quite truly one of the worst experiences having an eye prescription updated. Did not receive a confirmation of appointment and showed up 10 minutes before scheduled time, having done all pre-appointment paperwork online. Waited 20 minutes until AFTER the appointment time (so now 30 minutes waiting) before the exam to be addressed. No explanation for why things were running so far behind. After the exam, I explained this all to the eye doc who was receptive, which is appreciated. As I was attempting to leave, I handed my HSA card to the associate and said 'please just run this so i can go' which he took. Several minutes later he had not returned and I attempted to see where my card had gone and was standing in the lobby waiting to receive my card back. At this time, an associate slammed a sliding door in my face, presumably aggravated that I had complained to the eye doctor about how poorly the clinic was run ahead of my appointment. Several minutes after that, the same associate that emphatically slammed the pocket door shoved my card and printouts into my hand and told me I did not need to sign the form acknowledging receipt prescriptions and to leave. I told the associate to have the day she deserved as I took the printouts, which I assume shocked her as she could only respond with 'no you have the day you deserve, weirdo.' so. if you're looking for an eye exam to take 45 minutes longer than it should and for staff to slam doors in your face and insult you, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! read more

After having 2 or 3 visits at My Eye Dr's St Charles location, which were totally fine, I decided to try the Magazine location. The day before my appointment, I received a text telling me to CALL the office in order to confirm my appointment. I could have easily responded to the text with another text, but I wasn't able to call at that moment, and it slipped my mind. When I arrived for my appointment on time, I was told by the receptionist that because I hadn't called to confirm, they would have given my appointment away if someone else had wanted it. Okay...I've never encountered that before. The exam was fine. The optometrist recommended that I try a brand of daily contact lenses because my eyes had been somewhat dry. Moments after putting them in, I was asked by the associate if I wanted to order them. I said that I wasn't ready to order; I wanted to wear them a few days first. She said that I would need to pay for retinal imaging which was not covered by my insurance, and I was fine with that. When she came back with my card, I had been charged the $400+ for the daily lenses. I expressed that I said I didn't want to buy them yet, and she said that they would refund the card if I changed my mind. A few days later, I was finding the new lenses really uncomfortable. I wanted to order my previous brand, and like many others, encountered a rude manager. I wanted to refund the entire previous contact purchase and put the new charge on a different card for transparency (frankly, I didn't trust that I'd be refunded the correct amount). They wouldn't let me. I got so frustrated that I didn't want to give them my business. They wouldn't refund me, saying that they had already used my insurance benefits. I consider them crooks and would never return. NOTE: this encounter happened a year ago and I am still salty about it. read more

This is one of the best eye doc experiences I have ever had. Really easy to communicate with and went over and beyond to help.

My husband needed an eye exam because his prescription glasses weren't strong enough anymore. He's only had eye exams in France and I've never had one because because I don't have any vision problems so far, so I really had no clue what to expect. We walked in 10 minutes before our appointment time, filled out just 2 pages of paperwork, which is pretty good for any type of doctor's office, and we're taken immediately to start the exam with no wait. The staff was very understanding and let me accompany my husband the whole time in case there were any problems understanding each others' accents. The exam was such a streamlined process and all the staff was incredibly friendly, efficient, and professional. Once we were waiting for the actual optometrist at the end you might think it would be a long wait, but no. We only waited about 5 minutes for her. And then only another 10 minutes at the end when we were checking out and ordering glasses. They have a huge selection of glasses and brands (see pics). They also have a machine that can take pictures of your eyes for the optometrist to examine instead of the traditional way that requires pupil dilation with drops. Other bonuses include the staff being very thorough with cleanliness and covid safety protocols as we'l as them have a private parking lot on magazine so you don't have to search for a spot. I was incredibly impressed with Dr. Beam and the entire staff. So happy we chose to get established here. Price for exam with traditional dilation with no insurance was $99. For the machine that takes the pictures where you don't have to have dilation with no insurance it was $139. read more

Yesterday I would've given this place a 5 stars, but today's experiences, I'm giving them 2 stars. Long story short: I've purchased two boxes of 90 days contact lens. I started having unfocused and blurry vision and it was getting worst. I got scared and called the office and they scheduled me an appointment to get my eyes/contacts rechecked. During the recheck, she gave me another brand (which I end up liking because how moist it is). I asked Dr Beam if I end up liking it, what can I do with the already opened contacts I have? She said it's no big deal, just bring it in and they'll switch them out. Two days later, I called the office and front desk picked up and I told her I like the new brand and can we order it? I also mentioned to her the doctor said that I can exchange the old contacts for the new ones. She said to bring the old contacts in and we can talk to the manager. Briefly talked to the manager and she told me a hard NO that I can't exchange them. I asked her why did the Dr said it was ok to exchange it? She said we do not take back opened products. I was going to wait to talk to Dr Beam to get clarification, but I saw she was busy with patients, so I left. The manager was very dismissive and didn't even clarify or apologize for the misunderstanding her team caused (THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE REASON WHY I AM NOT COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE). And you know, sometimes things will happen and not go the right way, but it's how you approach the situation. if she would've been nice and not dismissive, then of course I will accept and respect the no return/exchanges on opened products and move on. The first contacts she had me try didn't work, so the office manager overnighted another pair for me to try. Not many practices would do that. This is the worst eye doctor I've ever been too. Bad vibes and underwhelming service all around. After I told the technician/nurse that I was on birth control (not sure why they needed to know this), she made a rude comment about how it was selfish not to have children. I let it slide because I hoped the comment just came out wrong, but the rest of my visit was just awkward and unpleasant. Getting my contact prescription filled was also a nightmare. I had to come back multiple times because it wasn't ready despite being told it was and one time the office was closed because the staff was taking a very long lunch. Lunch should be posted on Yelp/Google if you are going to close the office but still say you are open across platforms. I'd even checked before I left my house to confirm they were open. When I'd asked if they could just mail the contacts to me so I could stop having to make the unnecessary trip, they said no, because I guess that is too complicated for a business in 2024. I wasted so much time just trying to get the contacts I had already paid for. If there had perhaps been an apology for wasting my time and communicating so poorly, I might not be writing this, but I never received anything but a rude and dismissive attitude. Exceeded my expectations! I've been looking for an eye doctor uptown and this location had quick availability, and was by far the best eye doctor experience I've ever had. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was seen immediately, and the doctor explained every step of what she was doing, why, what my results meant, and her recommendations for new contact brands. Dr. Beam, her techs, and the front desk reception have always been wonderful and very helpful. However, the office coordinator (?) is one of the rudest, wildly inappropriate employees I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with in any medical office. Every visit, I've been made to feel like an inconvenience to her specifically, perhaps I don't fit her idea of their "aesthetic"? I will never return after this last interaction where she loudly berated me in front of the entire office. Somewhat glad to know it's not just me as I overheard her on the phone speaking to another patient like they were complete morons. Perhaps time for a new profession if the tiniest bit of kindness can't be spared in a medical setting. read more

MyEyeDr is a scam.. They portray themselves as convenient and easy but after a few appointments you will see that they do added exams and overcharge an insane amount for these unnecessary exams, glasses and/or contacts. I will be going to my Opthamologist from here on. read more

Couldn't be happier with my experience. After a fall and breaking of my frames and scuffing the lenses I was worried that it would take an extended period to get an exam and new glasses but was able to get an appointment the very next day and my new glasses were in in one week. Sure they were moderately pricey, but quality eyewear with specialty lenses always will be and considering my situation I was satisfied on that front; I've paid more and had poorer service with other places. The eye doctor was great, though the company seemed to not be very good at managing. I was there for almost an hour and a half before I saw the overworked doctor. The service, outside of my doctor, was horrible. After my exam I decided to leave, but was told I could just come back or call to order the contacts. I reached out a few months later to get my contacts ordered. The lady on the phone told me multiple times my insurance wouldn't cover my lenses, because I didn't purchase them they same day and to call my insurance company. I called my insurance company multiple times and my insurance company told me multiple times that I was covered and all they needed to was call them, as the system won't show I was covered. I called the receptionist back and let her know the situation. I told her to call. The receptionist told me I was wrong and that she didn't believe me that I had called my insurance, because the computer system showed ineligible. I asked her if she called as I instructed, and she said she didn't have to because it's on the computer system. I got angry and did raise my voice, and curse, out of frustration because I was being told I wasn't listening to them or doing what they asked (I called my insurance company three times as opposed to them not calling once) In hindsight, instead of arguing I should have just purchased them and then got reimbursed by my insurance... However, a few months go by and I call another location in New Orleans. They were nice enough to call my insurance, as I had let them know what previously happened. Turns out I was covered. I had asked to purchase contacts and wanted a year supply. Turns out they only ordered a 6 months supply and didn't tell me until I noticed my order seemed light. The office manager came and told me that it was a years supply and that I had monthly contacts. Prior to that, the receptionist told me they were bi-weekly. They kept asking me what I had ordered, and I said I didn't know and I didn't request a receipt or paperwork because I trusted them to do their due diligence. After the office manager decided to look into it more, she corrected herself and let me know that I had only a 6 month supply of bi-weekly lenses, that I had no more insurance and that I would have to pay out of pocket but that I could get reimbursements, like coupons or something (if I really wanted to buy them). The way she said it made me feel like maybe they thought I couldn't afford the lenses without insurance. I was uncomfortable as it was because they were not pleased about the fact that I was inquiring into my order. The office manager seemed pretty cold about it. It's not like my job is in contact lenses and I know how it all works or what they ordered for me. I ended up calling them to just ask for my prescription to be emailed as I was unhappy with the customer service. The receptionist was friendly and cordial on the phone and agreed to send it over, so I was pumped to not have to deal with them again. Instead of emailing me and leaving it is as, the office manager Catherine made it a personal mission to take time out of her day to call me just to tell me I'm fired as a patient due to my language and attitude then hung up. I may not be the best patience because of my intolerance to bad attitudes or unprofessionalism, but they could try and better at their jobs. Also, Catherine you win because you called me for no more than to fire me and hang up. You seem like the type to keep score, so good game to you? read more

I booked an appointment and when I arrived they couldn't locate it. I had already checked availability and couldn't rebook with them within the timeframe I needed. I scheduled with a a new doctor and when I returned inside I asked for my medical records to be sent to me and for my last prescription. After lecturing me that I wasn't even due for a new prescription (OH do they normally have the doctor run the front desk? I noticed my eyes were having issues with my current prescription. Why is the receptionist lecturing me about my eyes which she clearly has no context for?) And then also scolding me that I booked the wrong kind of appointment in the first place. I'm standing in front of this woman with tears in my eyes while she was profoundly rude and uncompassionate. I'll be switching permanently from them. read more

I am a new patient an I had a horrible experience 1st of all everything seemed ok except they do not have a good selection of glasses I purchased contacks an glasses any ways because at night its just easier to grab them anyways my contacts came in fast but my glasses are still not here 5 weeks later when they told me it would be only 2 weeks. Also my contacts are wrong an they had to order diffrent ones I had to get the dr to check my eyes agin an talk him in to ordering the correct line for my right eye! I'm telling him I can not see clear out my right eye an its blurry an giving me head achs now mind you I wore them for over a week like this cause I was told to do so cause my eyes would get used to them but it only made matters worse!! An caused even more head achs an frustrations! AN still I do not have my glasses that I payed extra with the lines that have transitions any ways I should have just waited an went to a better eye dr in the 1st place but I just needed my eyes checked asap an could not wait 2 days for a better dr what I should have done in the 1st place this place is not in any way a good experience!!!! read more
