Not a knowledgeable or capable provider of gate operator repair service. -Requested service for failed electric driveway gate operator including confirmation that they knew how to service and repair the brand I have in place. -The Technician was courteous and attentive but did not inspire confidence when he asked for the manual. Clearly could not determine the cause of the problem. -Unplugged and plugged wire harnesses and did a bunch of electrical continuity checks that showed nothing. Advised that the control board was functioning correctly but that gate movement was not happening probably due to a problem with one of the motors. -Recommended, based on what he saw, that I replace one of the arms that move the gate and provided name of distributor where I would have to go to buy it. When asked if his service would handle installation, the answer was no. -Found that back up batteries needed replacement. The price he quoted for them was four or five times more than what they cost at DIY store or on-line. -Fee for the service call produced no real problem diagnosis; indicated that he knew nothing about control board set up that would permit checking the operation of each side of the gate, and left it to me to go get a part, find a way to get it installed and then see if that took care of the problem. -This company may be excellent at the things it does but gate operator repair is not one of them even though their advertising clearly states: "service and repair of gate operators". read more

Contacted Art Fences after seeing them advertised in a mailer. Upstairs balcony railing was rotten and I wanted to replace it with metal and a different style to update the look. Great communication throughout the process, which only took about a week (once I got HOA approval). Installation went smoothly and they hauled away the old railing. I reminded him he said he was coming by to rewrite the proposal as to what I was contracting him for. He refused and hung up.. We had a large, perimeter fence installed. We paid a deposit for another fence to be installed within our property to lock-in a quoted price on the 2nd project. After shoddy repair work to the 1st fence, we asked for our deposit back for the interior fence. Julio said he would look it up and get back to me. This was on the rare occasion he would take my call. My numerous phone calls, emails and certified letter were all ignored. No refund has been issued. Art fence company is not a reliable company. I say this because they have no word. They kept us on hold for two months after promising our fence would be ready in two weeks. They never call you up to keep you informed, you, the customer will have to keep calling them for info. I think after you give them the half payment they just move on to the next victim, they know most people can't afford to allow that money to go down the drain so they have no chose but to wait. When they finally did come to do the work the fence was put up crooked. I told Julio about the fence he promised he would come out to check on it,but of course he did not keep his word. After bids from 3 gate builders, I chose Julio's bid because he quoted the gate I wanted, how I wanted it constructed and sold me the right product. And, although I didn't realize it at the time of the quote, when he said, "we stand behind our work", I didn't know that if a problem arose, meant that I would have to pay extra to have it corrected. And that is exactly what happened. When the gate post (holding the estimated 500 Lb gate sagged enough to drag on my driveway, Julio told me it would cost me an additional $475 to add a 2nd gate post to help support the weight of the gate. So, after reluctantly agreeing to pay this, Julio, owner of Art Fences, never contacted me again. The bottom line is Art Fences only used 120 Lbs (2 bags) of concrete on a gate post he said would be cemented 3-4 ft deep. I ended up repairing this gate myself by digging a deeper and wider hole around the existing gate post, tilting gate and post back to level and adding another 560 Lbs of concrete around and below the existing 120 Lbs of concrete. It was at that time that I determined that the Art Fences post installers had only cemented the post down to 28"! My advice to anyone using Art Fences would be as follows: Get the warranty in writing and include a statement that all "sagging or leaning of any posts and / or any other general workmanship issues will be repaired free of charge. Also, if you are having a gate installed with 4x4 steel tubing, check the hole depth during installation and request at least 300 Lbs of concrete to secure the support gate. If I could give a negative star I would.. Paid 1100 for a security gate and less than two months the lock will not work. I called to have them come and repair and check and cannot come today and will do me a favor and come tomorrow. This was after he hung up and I called back to talk to his office or wife. She will let me know tomorrow when can come but normally they take two weeks . They had no problem taking a check. This is not service but tells me they are interested in sales and not follow up for customers. They said they have been around 20 years --well good luck there are many fence places so if this is your idea of building customer service and your reputation I will be glad to tell anyone I know about their attitude. Still waiting for call back. Said they would call today to let me know time and when I call no answer. I have moved to complaint to BBB. Do not hire these people as they will take money and never provide warranty service afterwards. In fairness they did come out for a ten minute fix. Why do I have to get the supreme run around. I think it may have had to do with BBB threat. read more

These guys are crooks, their work is shoddy and they do not deliver the materials or workmanship that they guarantee. I had a horrible experience, they lied about giving me a powder coated wrought iron fence as stated in the contract and instead showed up with spray painted aluminum fence that they installed despite my wife telling them it was not acceptable material (and after getting 50% down). When I came home and saw it I told them I would not pay for the rest and to give me my money back and take the fence back. Instead he attempted legal action, when his lawyer told him he had no case he sent a negative collection account to the credit agencies. read more
