It's not the jewelry that attracts me back to this store, although it seems to be a mainstay for them. What brings me back has been art glass and other decorative objects. When we were in Ashland in October of 2017 I was taken by a display of blown glass octopuses. I have loved octopuses since reading "The Soul of an Octopus" a couple of years ago. There was one dichroic glass octopus that called to me in particular. However, as I wandered through the store looking, I was resolutely ignored by the staff. Annoyed, I left. Late last July we were back in Ashland and again I went into Art FX. The octopuses had been moved to the second room, a few steps down and there were fewer of them, but the one I loved was there. A young saleswoman greeted me. It seemed to me that the fact that the octopus was there waiting for me signified that I was meant to buy it and I did. We had adopted Amber, our new cat, a few weeks before and were supposed to keep her in the house for two months. I didn't want to risk putting the octopus on display right away. Once Amber was able to come and go as she wished and was less curious/rambunctious than she had been when confined to the house, I observed that other artworks were safe around her, but I didn't unwrap the octopus until just a few days ago. I moved it from place to place until I found where it looked best. I just looked at Art FX's website to see who the artist was and saw there were no octopuses shown. I'm so glad I bought it when I did. It probably wouldn't have been waiting for me this summer. And for those, like me, who thought the correct plural of octopus was octopi, it's not. I learned that on the first page of "The Soul of an Octopus". Octopi would be attaching a Latinate suffix to a word that's of Greek origin. Octopuses is correct, although it sounds wrong to our ears. read more

Excellent customer service. Fantastic people. Not only do they make and repair amazing jewelry, they are true problem solvers. My prescription sunglasses broke at the nose piece and left the screw stuck in the narrow shaft. The optical dept. at my Optometrist's office didn't have the tools to fix them. I took a chance and went to Art FX because they have excellent reviews. Dane was so helpful, thinking out of the box on how to deal with my problem. He was able to fix the nose piece and got the glue off the lense that I had got on them trying to fix them myself. I can't thank Dane enough. BEST JEWELRY SHOP IN SOUTHERN OREGON!!! I first came to Art FX in 2016 when my wife (then fiancee) were visiting Ashland. We didn't intend on buying anything but just wanted to browse. We saw a beautiful ring in the display and asked Jeremy about the style of the ring. Jeremy was very knowledgeable and next thing you know we are brainstorming a customized free form rose-cut sapphire and diamond ring with him. We really just wanted to know how much such a ring would cost and didn't plan on buying it then and there. Jeremy was nice enough to give us his card with the specifications of the ring we talked about and his price quote of about $950. Fast forward to 2018. I still had the card from Jeremy and had saved up some money to buy the ring for my wife. I called Art FX and lucky enough I was speaking to Jeremy. I told him about how I came in years prior and wanted to buy the ring he had helped me "build". Not only did Jeremy remember our interaction but he honored the price quote he originally gave me as best as he could. Jeremy and the team became 100% dedicated to getting my wife her ring EXACTLY the way she wanted. First they needed sapphires. Jeremy had special ordered some beautiful sapphires from New York in a rose-cut. Jeremy gave me my pick of the stones and sent me multiple pictures so we could make the best choice. They had the ring built in about two weeks and sent me a photo when it was finished. Everything was exactly the way we had originally discussed. They mailed me the ring and my wife had an issue with it...the sapphires were too pale of a blue. This is where Art FX really proved they are the best. I sent them and email and told them that my wife had really wanted a darker blue sapphire and asked them how much it would cost to replace the stone. They told me to just mail them back the ring and they would make a new one free of charge. Jeremy told me that he would be going to a trade show soon and would search for some deeper blue stones and let me know when he found them. Once again, he sent me pictures of the stones once he had them and we got to choose the one that was just right. A few weeks later the new and improved ring came in the mail and my wife absolutely loved it. These guys are top-notch jewelers and showed excellent customer service.
