I went in for a trial with Rachanee and had mixed feelings. She did a great job with my make-up. I loved it. It looked natural and the spray foundation held all day. However, for the hair, I felt like she didn't listen to what I wanted. I came in with a picture and asked for loose and curly. She ended up doing a completely straight, cookie-cutter type hairstyle. I like it alright, but it was NOT what I had asked for. I was still planning on booking her and emailed later for another hair appointment to make sure I got the look I wanted. When I asked for the second trial, her husband Tod emailed me back (as the manager) and told me she had booked another wedding on the same day as mine (pretty far from my wedding) and believed she might be able to fit me in still if I would settle for an assistant stylist for my hair while she did my makeup and if none of my bridesmaids would require any services. I had already paid her $75 for the first trial! Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed and I honestly felt that she wasn't very straightforward with me. I'll pass. read more

Rachanee did an excellent job on my trial. Although I was literally an hour late and couldn't contact her because I got lost and forgot my cell phone/don't have GPS she was very nice about it. She took almost two hours to complete my trial, she took lots of time to discuss the look I wanted and was very thorough. The studio is in her home and It was *slightly* stressful that her babysitter's kids kept banging on the window but I am not going to take off a star for that because that is how *amazing* the makeup and hair was and how sweet and professional she was. I am extremely picky about my appearance and not easily pleased so for me to be happy with this was pretty good. She did airbrush and it came with single lash application. She took the time to blow-dry my bangs nice and straight which was a special touch that many artist neglect to do She also took lots of before and after pictures of me with both her camera and mine and sent them to me pretty prompty. Her prices are on par with other artists in the area. I am still deciding on finances because of my location but would not hesitate to highly recommend her for your makeup and hair needs. Some suggestions for future brides: - bring pictures of a few looks you are going for. Research this well. I ultimately went for a completely different hair look than I originally thought I wanted. - Make sure you ask your artists what makeup they use beforehand. My first one had the nerve to use Mary Kay on me (ugh). Rachanee used mac, among others. - Definitely do airbrush even if you have nice skin. Mine is in relatively decent shape. I did a trial with and without airbrush, and it makes a huge difference. -Also bring your own lipstick as you may prefer that to the colors suggested. It's worth paying to get more than one trial if you are picky like I am. Considering the costs of a wedding it is really a drop in the bucket. Rachanee was my third artist and not until I came to her did I find the exact look I was happy with. - Request single lash application. It looks way more natural. If you are using the trial as your engagement pictures make sure they use an adequate amount of glue or the lashes will start to come off. Don't let the artist try to get away with no using lashes during the trial. You need to see how they look! - Take lots of photos in different lighting if possible and wait to wash the trial makeup off for awhile to see how it holds up. Thanks again! read more

My wedding coordinator recommended Rachanee to me when I was looking for a hair/make up artist. I went in for my trial and shared with her my vision of what I wanted to look like for my wedding day. Rachanee totally understood my ideas and spent a good deal of time on my hair/makeup during the trial. On the day of my wedding, she brought an assistant to help with my BM's hair and make up. They both worked very hard and got everyone done in a timely manner. Throughout the day, everyone complimented me on how elegant I looked. Also, my hair was in place for the whole day. It was a little nerve wracking, but it turned out so well! Rachanee met with me in my hotel room just 2 days before the wedding for my trial run (only time that worked for me!). I gave her pretty vague instructions--pretty, natural-medium makeup that covers/lasts all day and a soft up-do hairstyle. She showed me some pictures from her books/magazines to find things I liked and then ran with it! It turned out so great! On the day of the wedding she met in my hotel room and got me and my maid of honor ready in plenty of time...she really did a fantastic job on both of us. I chose Rachanee and Art Occasions to do makeup and hair for my May 2012 wedding. I found her via Art Occasion's Yelp reviews. I was looking for a low-key makeup artist who could work well with the bride (me), my 2 bridesmaids and my mom. I wanted to find someone professional, prompt and calming. Rachanee was certainly those three things. Let me be honest, Rachanee's prices were too high. I think the industry is just too pricey for what you are getting. However, I am still happy I outsourced my hair and makeup to Rachanee. Rachanee is very capable in terms of applying makeup and styling hair. But when it came to the makeup design process, I didn't feel like she had an eye for what colors and styles looked best for my mom and I. I was hoping to outsource the design process to her, but ended up having to very clearly explain exactly what I wanted. Once I did this, she was able to create the look. So, if you book with Rachanee, make sure you know what styling you prefer and definitely book a trial run. She does do a great job with the makeup application process. My sister was very happy with the hair style Rachanee crafted for her. She asked for a braided design she had seen on Pinterest, and Rachanee was able to do it for her at a moment's notice. It was beautiful. Rachanee was certainly a calming presence on my wedding day. I met Rachanee through my sister in law, who had Rachanee do her wedding a few years back. When i had my trial for hair and makeup, she took a long time to make sure it was the look I wanted. I'm a picky person, especially when it comes to my hair, but she did a WONDERFUL job. I wanted a natural look for my wedding and it was ever so slightly heavy-handed, but it still looked great. On the day of my wedding, Rachanee and her assistant showed up on time and was extremely flexible especially when my bridesmaids all ran late. She was so sweet and professional. She also seemed genuinely happy for me on my wedding day. Rachanee is an excellent hair and make-up artist. She was professional, but also, flexible and personable. I will definitely hire her again for my next special occasion and highly recommend her service to everyone. I had 7 hour pre-wedding photo shoot. She did my initial hair and makeup in the morning and changed my hair styles about 5 times during the photo shoot. As every bride experienced before, I couldn't choose between long hair styles and updo hair styles, so I decided to have both. I researched a lot of hair/makeup artists in the bay area. I contacted pretty much all artists from theknot.com and yelp.com. I was looking for someone who could do the natural makeup and variety of hair styles. Moreover, even tho it was 7 hours, considering driving 6 different places in SF, changing clothes, walking and taking pictures, the time was very tight. Therefore, I needed someone who know the styles and practice them beforehand, so it can be done as fast as possible. After getting quotes and reviewing each artists' portfolios, I finally chose Rachanee. I emailed her a bunch of photos of the hair and makeup styles I like. During our trial, she had them printed out already and I could see she was prepared. she pretty much knew what I liked and did a good job. We timed how long it took to do one hair style to do the next. She took each pictures, so she could practice later. Of course, there were times that I didn't like the style. I told her my concerns, and she listened to me and changed it until I was satisfied. She was a very hard worker. Lastly, as I mentioned previously, I got a lot of quotes from different artists, and her rate was one of the most reasonable price considering their experiences. I had been looking for a hair/makeup artist for my wedding and had a trial run with a gal with less than desired results, to put it mildly. She barely spoke english and did not understand what I wanted for my makeup look. I needed to find someone else who knew what they were doing! So, I searched on the Web and luckily, I found Rachanee! After my first experience with that other gal, I was very careful because I didn't want a repeat, so I asked questions and even brought pictures of what I wanted. I shouldn't have worried - Rachanee turned out to be wonderful! She is a very pleasant person and knowledgeable about different makeup looks. We experimented with different styles and she has a very good eye for what makes you look your best. Rachanee was patient and friendly, like having your best friend there who wanted you to look your best on your special day. Rachanee also did my hair in a beautiful upsweep style so I could wear my headpiece - a birdcage veil headband set with silk flowers and feathers. My hair is straight and different lengths and I was afraid that it would not stay up and sleek for the long day with the headband on it, but it didn't budge and looked fantastic. I received lots of compliments at the wedding, and now finally getting to look at the wedding pictures, I was very happy. Being an older bride (49), you wouldn't think that looking at the pictures, it was more like mid-30s! Yeah, I'm bragging, but it's a great compliment to Rachanee, thanks, girl! As a matter of fact, my photographer liked it so much, she's using my bridal portrait in her own ads! Rachanee communicated very well by email and phone to double check things like place and times before the big day. She was even a bit early that day and was fully prepared with all her equipment and ready to go! Rachanee did a great job on my hair and makeup for my 9/24/11 wedding. I had my trial with her 2 months before the wedding and was extremely pleased with the result. I brought a ton of pictures to show her what I had in mind for both hair and makeup. I wasn't sure that my desired hairstyle would even work with the texture and length of my hair but Rachanee told me she could do it. She spent almost 3 hours with me at the trial, making sure everything was perfect. It was one of the most relaxing times of the whole 8 months of wedding planning! Rachanee did a great make-up job for me in my wedding. It is so so so beautiful and natural. She is very professional and patient, it took almost 3 hours for the first trial and since I had to go to city hall in time we did not have a chance to communicate deeper but later on we emailed and I told her what else I need to high light and so on. We used Art Occasions for our wedding in January 2014. Rachanee did our hair and Linda did our makeup (two brides). We first met with them for a trial a week before the wedding, and we were nervous after having gone through a trial that was very disappointing. We were on a tight budget and couldn't afford the vendors who had been recommended to us. The first trial was with the most "budget" of our options, and it's often true that you get what you pay for. Well, Art Occasions was only slightly more expensive than the first place we tried, but the quality was so much better. Rachanee and Linda were great! They were professional, friendly, flexible and efficient, and they listened to our requests. They worked with us to get our looks just right. We both appreciated that they focused on hair and makeup rather than socializing with us. On our wedding day, they had to arrive very early as there were bridesmaids and mothers to work on as well. They were able to accommodate an extra hair and makeup and still finish everyone's services almost exactly on time. I can't even count how many compliments we got on the hair and makeup. They are professionals at what they do. Rachanee really understands how to translate a picture into reality on hair, and Linda is a true makeup artist. I am an EXTREMELY picky person and went through three trial runs with other people before I found Rachanee. I even debated doing my own makeup because I was so unhappy with the people that I had found. Rachanee immediately impressed me. She was so good with BOTH hair and makeup, where all of the other people I had met were only good at one or the other. I showed her a picture of the hair style that I wanted and she created it immediately and it was exactly the same as the picture I was very impressed! She also did my makeup perfectly and it looked great allllllll night! Everyone at my wedding thought my hair and makeup looked beautiful and thanks to Rachanee, I got the look that I wanted. She arrived on time at 8am to do 5 people's hair and makeup and was also done promptly.
