This is a large clean patriotic diner. Service is amazing. They are friendly and very helpful. Food is cooked correctly. I got the chicken fried steak, 2 eggs, potatoes and a huge fluffy biscuit. The best "Morning Kick" and bang for the buck for breakfast in Homosassa! The waitress staff is super greeting with a genuine smile and knowlege of what's on the "special menu". Coffee is delicious, hot and my wife and I share a regular order of HOMEMADE biscuits and gravy plus two eggs scrambled with cheese. No extra charge for splitting the order. Once again waitresses work together to be sure coffee stays hot and any other needs are met with a smile and thanks. Art's Diner use to be The Biscuit Barn, still owned by the Green family but switched from the son to his Dad that has owned and operated several different breakfast/lunch diners - Cockadoodles and Chicken King in Inverness and A.J.'s in Crystal River now called Sara's Diner. Located in Homosassa on S Suncoast Blvd in the corner of strip stores, the wooden breezeway to the diner's door makes it easily noticeable from the road. Inside the little restaurant is clean and decorated in a country style. Their wait staff is always friendly and efficient. They greet everyone with a smile. Art's Diner is known for their satisfying home cooked breakfasts just like all of Art's previous restaurants but he does have a limited brunch/lunch menu and that's what I really wanted to try this time. After perusing the menu I decided on their Chicken fried Chicken with my two sides being greens and coleslaw. Their Chicken was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside with a juicy, tender inside. Served with a country style white gravy it's deliciously satisfying. Their greens with a little salt and pepper and a dash of hot sauce and their coleslaw rounds out the meal nicely. One thing to note was we had to ask for biscuits to go with our meal - something we never had to do before. As usual their biscuits were big, flaky and buttery. A real treat and a nice way to complete the meal. Only small negative I have to say is that I wish that they would expend their lunch menu and maybe add some daily specials. This would definitely put Art's Diner heads and shoulders above their competition! read more

Art's is a standard diner where we stopped for lunch while heading north. Obviously a neighborhood hangout, service was friendly and casual. Many patrons were greeted by name. We were seated immediately and drink orders taken. My companion ordered grilled cheese with turkey and a side of fries. I ordered breakfast. The food arrived after about 15 minutes, hot and very tasty. My eggs were cooked perfectly, hash browns crispy and I got a large slice of ham. The owner stopped by our table to check in, calling us "friends." Prices were reasonable. Overall, worth the refueling stop! read more

You can always tell a go-to place when all the locals eat there, and the staff knows everyone the minute they come through the door. And if it's your first time there, e prepared for all the staff to stop at your table, say hi, answer all your questions about the menu, the history of Art's, and whatever other questions you have. Very cute atmosphere as well. Our waitress was pleasant. She was honest in saying the chili spaghetti was going to take longer as the cook was new and hadn't made it before. We placed a call ahead order. The lady on the phone was polite and pleasant. It was easy to communicate what we liked without her niching me into a menu item. We ordered kids silver dollar pancakes, omelet with hash browns and fruit, croissant with egg and cheese, and 3 eggs over easy with cheese grits and biscuit. Everything was ready 15 mins later, hot and bagged to go. Our bill was around 40 dollars for a family of 5. The restaurant was busy and the staff was friendly. The portions were large. Wow! What a gem to find this place! Erica (owner) and her team provide incredibly hot, fresh and delicious food every time! The service is always on point- enjoyed Peyton waiting on us at our last visit. We were promptly seated and served and our cups were never empty. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were as big as his fists and so soft and buttery. Gravy had just the right amount of sausage and pepper and was the perfect thickness. He did not leave a scrap behind! I ordered the 'Clucker' and hash browns. The 'Clucker' is a boneless chicken breast fried and served on one of the big fresh biscuits with just a little sausage gravy on it. It was fantastic. Perfectly browned and perfectly. The hash browns were also very good! Crispy on the outside and hot through the middle, not greasy at all. This was just a regular portion, but it took up the whole plate! They had a beautiful display case of cinnamon rolls and muffins by the register. The cinnamon rolls were easy 4"-5" square! Enough for a meal! We got a cranberry nut muffin to enjoy later. It was so big that it barely fit into the to go container. We ate it later that day and discovered that both the tart cranberries and nuts went all the way through and were in every bite (not just on the top for good looks). Absolutely delicious! We were told that they make them fresh every day. You could tell ad they were very soft and flavorfull. I said it before- this place is a real gem! The food was good. We were sat immediately which was great for 11am on a Saturday. Unfortunately they didn't have a turkey bacon or turkey sausage option but the omelet was delicious. I've been to this spot several times and while I wasn't blown away, it was ok. However, yesterday finally cemented my resolve to drive further for better food. My home fries were dry, toast hard, eggs undercooked, my mom's biscuit had to be returned for another because she was afraid she'd Chip a tooth on the over baked boulder they served her with the bowl for of concrete looking gravy with more pepper in the gravy than in the shaker. My mother has eaten here for years and has never once complained but yesterday took the prize for worst meal. I didn't realize at this time because I was munching on their over cooked bacon, but there were tiny bits of egg shells in my food which I later got to spit out.. so gross. Tried it twice and that's enough for me. Unfortunately this operation has been impacted by the lack of people wanting to work during COVID19. I understand how difficult it is to find cooks much less good ones, but my food has been horrible. The waitress could have cared less both times. She threw all of my breakfast away my second visit without bothering to ask me if something was wrong. In fact having gotten this same waitress before I knew that I would have to leave my table to go find her which I did. I think the toaster must have been broken because my English muffins were raw and my husband needed more coffee.
