My 12 yr old daughter attends this studio and loves it. She's been to other structured/lesson-plan studios, but prefers this one because every student can choose their own project (vs everyone painting the same picture, for example) and she'll receive guidance throughout the creative process. In the past couple months, it's been neat to see her improvement in spatial perspective, shading, etc. When a finished project comes home, I enjoy her explanation of motivation and techniques - like other Yelpers have said, too bad I don't have the wall-space needed to display everything! read more

My two girls really enjoy Iryna's class, and look forward to it every week. Before we signed them up, we took some comic drawing lessons that were offered on campus at our elementary school. While it was fun, the works we saw were not much different from my girls could do on their own. Last year we discovered this art studio and from the very first drawing, we are amazed every time we see a new creation. The girls are really improving, and are taking their skills and use them at school too to get accolades from teachers and friends. We like that the class is 1.5 hours, enough time to run errands or take a break :). I really recommend Iryna and her studio, we are lucky to have this studio in our neighborhood. read more

A couple of months ago, I signed up for a Friday paint night event via Meetup, that was sponsored by Art Studio Academy. It was the day before the event and the system would not let me pay in advance but only allowed me to register for the class. It indicated I would pay the artist directly the night of the class. Upon arriving for the class, I was not greeted and received a battery of questions, and the artist appeared to be confused about any sign-ups from the Meetup posting. She asked me if I was there for a class series and when I explained I signed up through Meetup she insisted my name was not on the list but they had a cancellation so I could stay. When I told her I received a confirmation email she had me pull out my phone so she could see it. She was so unpleasant and basically acting distrustful of my presence in being there that I just told her this isn't going to work because of your terrible attitude and I left. She may or may not be a good artist, but her social skills were sorely lacking and off-putting. Today I received a couple of emails, about classes that are coming up. There is no way I would ever consider taking lessons at this place after that experience. I imagine she has turned off other people as well. The owners really need to train their employees better. Or, if this was the actual business owner, she needs to find another profession that does not involve dealing with the public. Painting is supposed to be a fun experience and her demeanor was anything but pleasant. I would like to be removed from your mailing list. My daughter started here about 3 months ago and we are absolutely loving the experience!! She used to goto another art studio but the instructor there was not letting her paint out her own creativity, she was very frustrated so we moved her to Art studio academy and she is just loving it!! The instructors are very helpful, also at end of each artwork the whole class can provide a constructive criticism which helps them to improve on the next project. I do not think I have enough words in my vocabulary to express just how happy I am with the services provided. My daughter absolutely loves attending and looks forward to her time her to work on her art. The only problem I have now is that I do not have enough wall space to present these precious gifts that are bestowed upon me. Online summer 2021 class: My 9-year old daughter was surprised with what she learned and accomplished in just a week - a blue bird perched on a branch. The online instructor had a the step by step instruction and guidance from making circles, triangles until it became a bird. With patience and active listening, she was able to complete a complicated looking bird using pencil watercolors. The practice was confidence boosting. Also, during the class, the students played games to get to know other students. The class completed the blue bird in the morning of the 4th day. The instructor quickly got them started on a landscape painting and finished on the 5th day. It was a worthwhile week! Imagine if she does this weekly, she'll be a pro by the end of the year! read more

Been sending my kids here for about 1 year now. A great place for kids to learn about art. Like to other posts Miss Leanne is really positive and super patient with each child and their abilities. Unfortunately, I will not be returning my 6 year old to this art class. We had a 1 month gift certificate to use and my daughter loves Art. The class for her age group was advertised to do many modes of art...colored pencil, water color, paint, clay, etc. At the end of the month they had made 3 colored pencil drawings which entailed copying the drawing on a large piece of paper and coloring like the model. All of the classes she had not finished the coloring within the 90 min block and would always need to finish it at the next class. Our last class, there was almost no coloring done because she had spent most of the class coloring the previous weeks picture. I am not sure if there was any assistance happening during the class because parents leave during class. The other art piece made was a water color painting after they had sketched from a picture, which was appropriate for her ability and age and was great. I also witnessed the teacher scolding another child at the end of the class for drawing the same picture 2 weeks in a row. I don't think it is up to a 6 year old to remember what she should be learning to do in a guided art class. This teacher did minimal interaction or explanation to any of the parents before or after class. I do not even know the teacher name because she never introduced herself! I am unsure if our experience was different because we were gift certificate customers and the business assumed we would not be returning?? I wish the teacher had thought this could be an opportunity to gain more customers? Also, I was not the only parent who had this same experience from this same art class. I hope other customers have a more positive experience, but we will continue to do our fun art projects at home. read more

My two boys (6 &4 yr) LOVE Miss Leanne. She provides such a wondering and positive learning environment for kids, so they have freedom to explore and express art.
