This is a very cool lil art studio owned by a wonderful person named CD. We had the opportunity to attend a couple family parties here and we decided to throw a birthday party here for our daughter's 6th Birthday. We inquired directly with CD for our date and time and she guided us thru the booking process. There was a last minute mixup but CD made every effort to offer us a successfull party....and CD definitely delivered. On the day of our party, we arrived early to a wonderful birthday party setup in the outdoor back patio, decorated nook and and an intimate upstairs studio for our party guests. To be honest, the setup she provided was exactly how we prefer. We were able to bring in and display our offerings for our guests and the parents enjoyed themselves hanging outside while the kids roamed around and enjoyed their painting session upstairs in the studio. CD and her team did an amazing job in making sure our party was a success! You can not go wrong when it comes to art and we were right to go with CD's Art Studio! CD is a great artist that has a knack for working with kids. Her studio is like a kids dream of supplies to bring their vision to life including a really fun jewelry drawer for beads! There are always new activities to try and both my kids under 8 feel they did a great job. We've done the summer camp with great recommendation as well as the one off activities. I wish I could give 0 stars. Do not send your kids to this camp. The owner is completely unprofessional and ill-equipped to run a camp for children. She said the teacher was on their way and I don't believe there is a teacher that actually showed up as she wasn't there at pick-up either. The doorknob is broken to the front door (which some reviews have mentioned in 2017). The 'outside play time' includes playing in the alleyway that is adjacent to a parking lot -safety is a huge concern. There are no toys provided for them to play outside - just a couple balls. My son's "art" was a bird box he painted - I don't know how they did this for 4 hours? This "art" was also not in any of the descriptions sent via email or found on Activity Hero. I wasted my money signing him up for 5 days, he only went the first day and didn't return. read more

Attended a birthday party here with my five year old and she had a blast! The teacher is super warm, welcoming and engaging with the children. All art activities were timed well. My daughter especially loved making slime. Plenty of parking, bathroom available and plenty of seats available for parents to hang back while kids do their thing. We were walking by the shop and my little one was curious about it so we were standing outside peaking in and CD the owner came outside to greet us and then welcomed us inside to check out what they offer. She was so kind and even asking if my daughter wanted to make an ornament. We felt so welcomed and will definitely be back. Wow! My daughters had SO much fun at Spring Break Art Camp! Their art projects are just amazing! I love that they used different mediums too. They were so excited to show me everything they created and told me all about the process as well. They already asked me to sign them up for another camp. When I called CD, to find out when we could pick up my older daughter's glass project, she was so helpful and kind. This place is a gem! I'm planning to call back to book a Girl Scout event as well. Owner responded with personal and confidential information I shared with her, but I did not share with Yelp. She did this, trying to refute my review, rather than just moving on, and trying harder in the future. Inappropriate! And a betrayal of my confidential conversation with her: (she said: ) "On the phone when you called you said your son was shy and did not feel comfortable asking questions. So I honestly do not know what we could have done differently." She did not need to divulge any of that. What she left out was the fact I told her privately my son was very embarrassed by the two kids who had befriended him, and then those two, acted out in front of the entire class, bringing unwanted attention to him, as well. The young camp counselors in the class, seemed unable to get them to stop distracting the class. THAT is why he did not want to continue to go. And he felt the art was not challenging compared to what he had experienced in school. I was going to leave that out, in deference to her, but not now. If a parent is going to pay $400-500 a week for their kid to be engaged, I expect them to be able to deal with participants that are interfering with everyone else's experience. Also, she then digs me as a parent trying to imply I might denigrate his art, and she does digs me in public. (she said:) " I do have to say that I am sorry that you felt his artwork was not good. It looked really good! I just hope you did not tell him his art was not good." I said, the art that comes from the school was at a lower level than what I have seen him do for free at his grade school--as did he. No reason for her to inappropriately imply I might be abusing my child mentally, so she can save face with her business. read more

We had the most wonderful experience here for my daughter's first summer art camp. She got to use several different mediums and brought home 1-2 pieces of art per day including painted canvases. She had such a great time and never wanted to leave. On the last day, she dropped her sandwich on the ground by accident, and the owner went and bought her a new sandwich from a nearby deli. I thought that was the sweetest gesture. We will definitely be back! read more

Owner C.D. Hullinger has unethical practices. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS!! STAY AWAY! Poor business practices and does not take accountability. Read the other 1 star reviews. Firstly, I appreciate the arts and support small businesses. I understand how difficult it is to run a small business but there is a respectful way to treat customers. I was invited here to create a glass platter to celebrate my birthday with a friend. When I picked up our rectangular platters after the firing days later, one of the platters (my friend's) was now half the size. The once rectangular platter was now square-shaped. It had somehow broke (we don't know what happened to the other half of the platter) while under the studio's care while it was placed on display at the front window. When I delivered the platter to my friend, she asked me what happened to the platter and I said this is how it turned out. She called the owner C.D. that same day and C.D. refused to take any accountability. She says to us that it's "our responsibility". C.D. refuses to want to learn the truth. Any further civil communication with her about it and she claims it's "harassment." We simply asked for a credit or refund in a kind, non-threatening way, and she cries "feeling uncomfortable", will file a police report on us for harassment, she'll charge us a "consulting" fee of "$25 per 15 min" as she is done discussing this and that it's not her responsibility. Really??? Won't even take the time to listen -- AT ALL. She is a true "Karen". Something is off about her as her tone is very insulting. She kept on saying things like "this discussion is closed", "there is no reason to have anymore discussion about this", "not our responsibility." While I support small businesses that value arts, education and creativity, I do not support unethical businesses like hers. The owner is untrustworthy. You will be better off going elsewhere. Please read other reviews as there is a pattern of her unprofessionalism and untruthfulness -- she uses the "as seen on camera" story as a facade. UPDATE: After CD calling us "liars" and threatening to "sue" us for negative reviews, CD found the other "half" of the platter at her shop and offered to repair the plate. read more

My child did an art camp recently at this studio. This camp site is in a shopping complex so for kids to get their wiggles out, there is not a large play area to run around. Our child is kinder aged. He shared with me at pick up that they were playing baseball during the break and their ball went to the fence which was across the parking lot. He said the main teacher (his description of her being an older woman tells me it could be CD herself) asked them to go get the ball! Him and another young child went alone without any adult with them across the parking lot to search for the ball and while they were looking a large van came by. They got scared it would run over and they hid in a triangle curb area letting van pass before returning to the play area. The teacher did not accompany them. This is gross negligence on part of a summer camp counsellor. In an open parking lot where occasional vehicles come by, how can you send little children to fetch ball by themselves? I like the art he created and he said some of camp counsellors (looked like high school kids) were good but given this type of safety violation means I won't be sending my child back there again and would want to make other parents aware that you need to clarify this when you drop off your precious child under this person's care. read more

I have been doing glass fusion work for many years and have made many memorable pieces with friends and family. I recently found CD Art Studio after the pandemic and was excited to take my sister out for her birthday to make a glass fused platter. we had a wonderful evening and we couldn't wait to see how our platters turned out and that when things went downhill extremely fast. When we went to pick up the platter, CD wasn't there and her assistant couldn't find the 1 of the two plates because it was broken and didn't look anything like what we had done. when we tried to reach CD, she refused to provide a resolution, called us "bitches" and told us that she was calling cops on us!!!! We felt not only frustrated and sad for not having something we had paid for but we're also scared. we felt racially profiled since we are not white. We just had my daughters 8th birthday party at CD's art studio and it was awesome! CD is so personable and great with the kids. The assistants that day were great too. My daughter had 15 of her friends join her for a painting party and they had such a good time. They made having the party there so easy and stress free. The studio is already decorated festively so I didn't have to do any decorations. They provide the table covers, do the clean after the kids eat, and even pass out the food we brought. Painting at CD's used to be fun, but not any more. Parents have to wait in line for 15 minutes to send off their kids; painting programs are not very rigid, not fun any more, boys sitting all day with two breaks, not allowed to play during breaks; teachers/staffs are rude and mean, not very friendly to kids or parents. read more

Hosted my daughter's bday party here and it was a great event! The kids enjoyed and the owner CD was the sweetest. The kids had an hour to paint and eat. I signed my daughter up for two "1/2 day" virtual camps this week and they were supposed to run from 12:30 - 3 pm. On both days, the instructor didn't show up on time and I had to email/call to see if anyone was going to start the Zoom session. On the first day, the instructor was more than 10 minutes late, and on the second day almost 30 minutes. I not only found this lateness disrespectful, but it was also setting a poor example for the kids. My daughter actually made a point of joining 5-10 minutes early. I would normally give one star, but my daughter told me she enjoyed the art projects when the instructor finally did show up. However, I doubt that we'll do any more camps with the studio. I shouldn't have to chase the studio/instructor for 10-15 minutes for sessions to get started. read more

Where do I begin? CD's Kids Art Studio is the best! My husband and I had our daughter's 9th birthday party there and the kids loved it! The parents did too! CD is great with kids and is good at keeping them engaged and focused on their painting. My daughter, Destiny wants to have her birthday there again for next year. Our party was actually in the big studio since we had about 16 kids and 11 adults. Good things about this place: 1. They give you 30 minutes before your party starts to set up for food and decorations. (You don't really need decorations. The art studio already looks fun and whimsical.) 2. Parents can sit back and have a few adult beverages and relax while their kids are painting. 3. Not much clean up, except for the food you brought. 4. Kids loved it! 5. Parents loved it! 6. You can host adult paint parties there too. My husband was talking to CD and said that the studio isn't just for kids, it can be booked for adult paint night as well. We did have a slight issue when we arrived. The studio doesn't have a regular store front sign. So when you book your party, make sure to ask if your party is in the small or big studio. The small studio actually has a sign on the window that says, "CD Hullinger Art Studio." That's how we knew we were in the right area, but it was closed. Turns out our party was in the bigger studio which is towards your left when facing directly at the small studio. read more

Hosted a SW YMCA Adventure Guides (Indian Princesses) event here today w/ an immense amount of flexibility and help from CD CANNOT say enough great things about the experience. We had half a dozen dads and even more daughters doing multiple works (painting) with guided help along the way. The girls had a blast taking cues and suggestions from the dads as well as from CD's exceptional instruction / tips on painting techniques, etc. LOVED it. After 4 months (per 'contract' as owner mentioned), I didn't receive my refund & I had to dispute to my credit card company. So the refund was not technically from the business. I deeply agree that we should all support & encourage small businesses during this difficult times. And I did that by registering for summer camp. My daughter participated in on week of Art Bash's summer program and had a blast. Much like the drop in class, my daughter enjoyed her time there and came away with some very impressive art. The price was a bit high but with the amount of STUFF and projects she came home with.... I think it was justified. My daughter did 2 canvas paintings, 2 multimedia collages, 2 wooden murals with mosaic glass work, and a TON of great drawings and watercolors. She also left with a greater knowledge of art and love for it:) Mission for a fun art experience accomplished. We will definitely sign up again. read more

Late review: Celebrated my daughters 9th birthday here with a few of her friends and they ALL had a great time. CD is great with the kids and easy to plan a party with. They have different packages and art projects to choose from. We were able to bring in our own food and drinks and parents were able to hangout while their kids painted if they wanted. I had my daughters birthday at CDs last year and it was not a good experience. The Art Party fees on the website were vague and unclear so I was only made aware of a $150 charge for the party. I talked with the party coordinator before the party and she did not tell me there was an extra charge of around $200. I felt very blindsided about the charge at the party. I also was confused from the website because I thought it was a charge by person. I do see that she has updated the art party terms since my event. When I voiced my concern about the extra charge I was treated very sterile and rudely, as if all they cared about was collecting the undisclosed fee which I paid over the phone. I knew I only had about 4 kids showing up, so if I knew it was 15 kids flat charge I wouldn't of signed up. Not a big deal I just would of liked to know. The call I got from the owner was so uncomfortable and I felt like she was taken advantage of me. The communication was horrible and not customer friendly. It was a horrible experience for my daughter and I and I will never go back there.  They said I could have the left over canvas and I forgot to take them. Dreading to go back there I finally got the courage to ask for what I paid for and was told "absolutely not!"  I also did a group art party with some of my clients and friends before my daughters party. I received a text from the employee that was supposed to go to the owner CD. I will link it in the photos. But was called the "Rape Group." I know that employers get stressed and there's a lot going on so I let it go. But to not give me the canvas that I paid for and reply rudely like that is unacceptable. It's really not about the canvas but the principal of not being taken advantage and in hopes to be treated with kindness. My daughter had a summer camp and it's not worth the money. Their lunch and recess time is so long compared to the other camp and she brings the same drawings everyday. I expect that she has a chance to use different materials but it's not. Just a drawing with at-home quality and I think I'm not going to keep it. What a fantastic party! My daughter celebrated her 8th birthday here and everyone had the best time. CD was so attentive and positive as she guided the girls through a landscape painting. All I had to do was show up, sit back, and enjoy watching the girls paint. I would highly recommend the studio for birthday parties. My review is for their online camps ONLY. They dont know how to conduct online camps. I wish I had looked at the other reviews. They were supposed to do one new canvas everyday. First 3 days was a landscape with a sunset. Kids were done in half the time. And then did some random drawing class. We have done other online classes and the quality was much better. Also, each day there was a different teacher. So the quality varied a lot. HArdly any teacher started with what they are planning to make. I had my daughter's 5th birthday party at Kids Art Bash yesterday. I wanted to do something different and this was the perfect place. I had 15 kids in my party (ages ranged from 3-13yrs) and everyone LOVED it, including the parents. It was fantastic to see the kids inspired and being creative. They did a beach themed painting project and they had a blast! The staff was patient, caring, and they managed the party wonderfully. I met CD Hullinger days after she opened her location in Cambrian Plaza. I was leaving my favorite chiropractor in the same location. WIthin seconds I liked CD. She is warm, knowledgeable and open minded in her approach. My daughter (11, 5th grade) took her first class "private" class last Friday with CD and she was over the moon excited! She has not stopped talking about the class for the past 3 days and can not wait till her next class. CD really knows how to tap into a childs artistic side, gives them plenty of freedom, gently guides them and builds great artistic curiousity and confidence. I will update after a few more lessons but I have a feeling we have no where to go but up! read more

I was double charged for my daughter's art classes by CD Art studio. They charged me $199.5 twice for her class through different credit cards. While making the payment, it did not go through my credit card. I waited and when I was sure the payment had not gone through, I used my other credit card. They charged me on both my credit cards. I raised the issue with CD, and she said she will look into it. I sent emails and texts with snapshots of my account with details of the charged amount, reference number, date I was double charged on, bank account etc so I can be issued a refund. However, I have not received a single response to my texts, emails, phone calls and voicemail. I have been constantly following up, but CD is ignoring my messages. No one even picks up my phone anymore. It is frustrating and highly unprofessional! I hope you don't go through this experience if your child is enrolled in this art studio. read more

We held my daughter's 7th birthday party here today and we couldn't be happier! From the first phone call to after the party was ever, CD was so warm, kind, helpful, and accommodating. She is truly a pleasure to be around! When we arrived to setup for the party, we were delighted to see that pretty much everything was set up already! All of the tables were covered with tablecloths and there was even a nicely decorated table out front for the kids to eat at. During the party, CD made everything flow perfectly and even brought out some fun games for the kids to play after they finished eating and were waiting for the paintings to dry before adding some finishing touches. Everyone had an amazing time and it is one of the most stress-free parties that we have every held! My daughter wanted to paint a dolphin on canvas on her project, and since dolphins can be difficult for kids to draw, CD graciously predrew an outline of a jumping dolphin on each child's canvas. The kids then had a blast painting and adding personal touches including a few sparkling gems at the end. :) I can't say enough nice things about CD or Art Bash Studios! I highly recommend checking it out! My daughter already wants to come back for a lesson. They adults were even impressed with all of the art that was displayed and my friend and I want to come take a glass mosaics class. My daughter celebrated her 5th birthday with her friends at Art Bash Studios last Saturday. What a great experience both the little ones and the parents had! The owner CD is so warm, genuine and wonderful with children. She and her assistant made it so fun for the children, they are engaged for the full two hours. The parents just sat back socializing and relaxing. The studio warm and beautiful, so you really don't have to worry about decoration. CD is also extremely helpful with setting up snacks and drinks, she even helped me packing up the leftovers so I can enjoy myself. I left the birthday party with a huge grin on my face.
