Come in with your own wine, leave with your own drunken painting! My friends and I recently kicked off a bachelorette party with a trip to Art with a Splash. We were joined by 2 other groups of ladies celebrating bachelorettes for an afternoon session of wine and painting the NH seacoast. Jim was a great teacher who put an emphasis on there being no right or wrong way to paint your scene, so long as you're enjoying it - it was nice to feel like we could make our art without a lot of pressure to get it perfect. For people who did want to aim for something higher, he came around and gave specific advice and/or touched up paintings himself (only when asked). It was really fun to see how different people's paintings turned out. The only downside: no food provided (but we knew this upfront) and the room was a little cramped so it was hard to talk to some of my friends, even during the break. Still, I am now a fan of this kind of painting and would definitely return to this kind of class. Just make sure you make your reservation in advance - these things fill up quickly! read more

Partner and I made a reservation for a Sat. She took our name, cc # and we set the time. When we got there, she (the same woman my partner had spoken with that morning) said she didn't have us on her list and the time slot was full. My partner mentioned that they'd just spoken hours before. She replied, 'Well you weren't charged. Just come back later and try the next one.' Never once used the word 'sorry'. She barely looked up, didn't apologize and seemed to think that assuring us we hadn't been charged, and inviting us to the following event, 4 HOURS LATER, should entice us. We'd planned our day around this afternoon time slot. She showed a complete lack of remorse for the mistake and inconvenience. Never even a simple, 'Sorry about that.' Nothing. Never mind a lack of etiquette, she was flat out condescending. She can stick it. We'll never go back. read more

Pro: The instructors are great. They give you detailed steps so your paintings will come out looking good. It's a BYOB place, so you don't have to pay $$ for their alcohol. When my best friend's birthday started creeping up, I knew I wanted to do something fun and unique. We are both wicked big wine-o's so when I came across this place, I knew it would be perfect. I picked the Nashua location since it's local to me, and I chose a date where the instructor was painting Van Gogh's "Starry Night", since that is our favorite painting. Going into it, I thought mine would turn out to be a complete disaster. The last time I picked up a paintbrush was to show my then-2 year old how to make a stick figure with watercolors. They were the first of their kind in NH and have proven to stay the best of their kind! The perfect class size, fun and helpful instructors, and fun music while you paint. The best is you BYOB and snacks so you get what you want to eat and drink, and you can have drinks without breaking the bank! Both locations in Nashua and Portsmouth are great. My mother and I went to Art with a Splash this past week and had an incredible time. We have been to several other paint night locations and this one is by far the best. Our instructor, Jim, was very knowledgable, which was clear not only from his instructions during class but from inspection of his art hanging around the venue. Jim was also very patient with us, was willing to answer any questions we had and offered suggestions about our paintings when asked. Last but not least, he gave everyone in the class confidence that our paintings would turn out well and I was amazed at how true that was. I would have NEVER tried to paint a picture as detailed as the one we were instructed to paint. My nervousness was forgotten after the first glass of wine. It was really nice to see how everyone's painting turned out because we all added our own personal touches ( which was encouraged). This is a lovely was to spend quality time with friends, laugh, drink and take home you very own masterpiece! I will look forward to the next time, I am coming back! read more

My wife finally got around to using 1 of her gift certificates I gave her. She signed up and brought one of our grandsons with her to a kid friendly paint night. The class was going to be on 8/16/17. A good week before the class she contacted the office thru email to confirm that she and our grandson was all set and signed up, at that time they were. Fast forward to the class, after picking up our grandson in Biddeford and driving to Portsmouth, finding parking, gathering up drinks (juice) and snacks they make it to the class only to find the door locked, no one inside. A frantic call to the phone number for the class she's told, "we had to cancel, no instructor." Apology given at time was meaningless. Are you freaking kidding me, no notice at all to tell her of the cancelation even though they had her email address for class sign up and conformation. Sorry I even bothered with the gift certificates and any thoughts that these people really care about repeat customers has gone out of the window. read more
