This review is for the grill only. One rainy Sunday night we decided to come for dinner, and had the place mostly to ourselves. You couldn't see much of the greens, but service was fantastic and food excellent. My husband had a cup of chili and the NH Hot Chicken sandwich. The sweet potato fries were enormous and cooked perfectly crisp, maybe the best we've ever had. I had the shrimp scampi: the portion size was huge, with a delicious garlic butter sauce. The fairways were in perfect condition. The issue was I didn't play from them as much as I hoped. The sand traps are unforgiving as most lips are challenging to get out of with pin placements close to them. It would be awesome to make the bunkers more friendly, as they do in Hawaii. There were also challenges with trenches of bushes running across the fairway and being new to the course and selecting the wrong club cost me some shots. The wife got upset as it cost her a lot more shots than me. They were airing the greens so it was nice to get a discount. I liked the course and I think most golfers would. The back 9 was more beautiful and open than the front 9. But the course was in very good shape and we will play often on our visits. The fairways were as good as our Hawaii courses but the roughs are tougher for sure. Many oaks vs minimal coconut trees so club selection is key when playing this course. As of august 27,2025 it was a very well maintained course. Hats off to the crew. We will be back! The staff is friendly and the burgers are great at the clubhouse. Plus they have a nice bar and big screen TVs to watch golf! What a great place and view to have a drink off the lanai. read more

Restaurant only!!! Went and got BBQ yesterday. I admit I'm a BBQ guy. Ordered Brisket that was obviously a leftover from the day before and reheated. Bone dry and old. Not earlier in the day old - yesterday old. Leaving I felt the BBQ outside - ice cold so it obviously hadn't been on that day. Awesome- I paid $25 for leftovers. The old chef from a couple years ago was really good- the guy the last couple years is mailing it in. When your biggest culinary contribution is chicken wrap sandwiches and rice bowls you are a line cook not a chef. BTW - 2 hot dogs aren't bangers - they are just 2 hot dogs (changing the name from dueling dogs to back nine bangers is not culinary innovation- it's rebranding a tired menu item). If you are playing golf there just pack your food in - it's a better choice. The turn dogs and burgers from the bar are a better option than the overpriced grill. read more

Restaurant Review. We had a table of 10 Friday Night for the Matt Gelinas acoustic show. Although it was absolutely packed with customers, our server Jack was absolutely spot on. He had multiple tables but was there constantly to fill drinks. Mo was great too as she helped him and the other servers all night. About 5 of us got food and the kitchen did not disappoint. I got a BBQ plate. The Beans and Potato salad sides were A plus. Burger was huge and well presented. Everyone loved their food. Watching the food runners all night created food envy with me and my gf so much that we returned for lunch the next day. Steak & Cheese and Chicken Sandy with potato salad again. Outstanding again. Friendly staff, excellent views, and a great new menu from chef Chad! The new BBQ menu is great, and it's so enticing to be greeted by the smoker on your way into the restaurant. The pulled pork and the ribs are great, but there are lots of other options. Hard to choose a side... The baked beans are definitely homemade and very good. The corn muffins are special because they cut them in half and grill them and serve them with maple butter. FYI, I liked the pasta salad, but it's not your typical pasta salad. It's a little spicy, so if you don't like that, the classic potato salad might be a better choice. If BBQ isn't your thing, they have a bunch of other fresh & delicious options, with the vegetarian and gluten free options clearly marked. My new favorite is the Kale salad with focaccia bread crumbs. You can add so many different proteins to it to make a full and satisfying meal - the grilled lemon thyme chicken or the grilled salmon are my favorites - both perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy! They have new specials each weekend. I'll definitely be coming back again and again to try more things, and to enjoy the relaxing setting. read more

I had never been here, nor was it ever on my radar as far as a "must try" restaurant. A friend of ours had a gift card that she wanted to use and invited us to join her for dinner. First off, we were strongly urged to make a reservation because apparently Tuesday's are extremely busy....the parking lot was packed when we got there, but upon walking into the restaurant, it was completely empty. We were cheerfully greeted by a young girl (I didn't catch her name) and she ended up being our server for the evening. Throughout the entire time we were there, it never got busy, there was 0 reason for the forced reservation time. Service was quick, drinks came out fast and were great. The beer was cold. The liquor strong. Great start to the dinner. We ordered a few different appetizers, onion straws and steak & cheese egg rolls. The onion straws were ok, nothing to write home about. The egg rolls were not that good, they were bland and there was hardly any cheese. For dinner, I ordered the bourbon steak tips with garlic mash and the vegetable of the day which ended up being green beans even though the server told us when we asked during ordering "uh, I think it's asparagus or maybe it's broccolini" My steak was cooked a perfect medium, but they were very small tips, the bourbon marinade was beyond sweet, the garlic mashed potatoes were really good, the green beans were bland and tasted old. Our friend got the braised short ribs with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes and green beans. When hers came out we were surprised that the "short ribs" ended up being just ONE rib, the mashed potatoes looked like a soupy mess of slop (she said they tasted terrible) and the green beans were the same as what I received. My wife ordered the fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes and chicken gravy. She really enjoyed it, she also enjoyed that the chicken was boneless as most fried chicken is on the bone still. All in all, it was a great girls night, with "just ok" food. The prices are pretty high for subpar, mediocre food, it's too bad because I loved the atmosphere, sitting outside watching the golfers during dinner was fun. read more

Beware. I signed a contract with Leslie at The Oaks in December 2022 & put down a $3,100 deposit. When I recently called Leslie about my upcoming June 2024 event, she was very rude & said, your contract has been canceled & literally hung up on me. To date I still don't know why & to date, they still have my $3,100. I tried to speak to GM, Ben, but no call back. I am waiting to hear from owner, Peter Harrity, before I file a claim in court for breach of contract. read more

Most reviews here describe a positive wedding experience with The Oaks. We'd likely have had the same were it not for the COVID19 pandemic. But it brought to light that at the end of the day, they are just another business trying to make and keep your money. Our wedding was for mid-May 2020. Half the estimated total was paid in deposits and all was on track until about mid-March when COVID-19 got serious in NH. The wedding coordinator emailed us suggesting that we reschedule early and offered to provide some available dates. We asked for the dates, but also wanted her to clarify if postponing was now required or if we could keep our date so long as the headcount was under what the gathering size limit would be. We also let her know we were working on various guest lists with counts at under 50, 25, 10, etc. Her email back had the dates, but she also said they could not have any events of more than 50 people until early May. Our rescheduling question got ignored along with the fact we had just said we can shrink our guest list as needed. With the given dates, a reschedule couldn't work so we let her know that and re-asked about group size. She then said if our gathering met all the safety mandates on our date, we could still have it. We let her know that we'd keep the date and also explained the main reason we couldn't reschedule was that there was a terminally-ill grandparent and that their passing would affect other family being emotionally/physically present for the wedding. We repeated that we'd reach out to guests and shrink the list as needed, but asked about a partial or full refund of our deposits in the worst-case scenario that they could no longer host us regardless of headcount. This time her response ignored the refund question. So we re-asked and got back another useless email mentioning rescheduling at no extra charge (which we already said we couldn't do) and stating that all April and May weddings may be affected. Nothing on a refund... We kindly reminded her about our situation and re-asked about a refund, but her last email ended up being the last we'd hear from her. The manager emailed us in late March around when the stay-at-home order was issued. He told us he was aware of our situation and that we were now the only event still on for May, but that he'd explore options for our day and just needed time. And then 30 days later and 3 weeks from our date, we still hadn't heard back. We emailed him for an update and his one-sentence response said that they're awaiting the governor's stay-at-home order update. That Friday, the stay-at-home order got extended to May 31st and then on Monday he told us that they could no longer keep our date and told us to reschedule--while STILL ignoring the refund inquiry. We wrote back quoting the refund part of the contract and how it clearly applied to our situation. He wrote back just saying we'd only be credited towards a rescheduled event. We were happily able to put together a small wedding ceremony elsewhere with our parents, siblings, and a couple of groomsmen there. It was decorated nicely and we still used our DJ and photographer. We have video of it to look back on and several nice post-wedding photos at a park overlooking the water. If you got this far in the review, know that The Oaks will likely do a good job for your event if it's not canceled. But sadly, the pandemic exposed that they're a business first and the emotions of your event will always come second to lining their pockets. read more

This rating is for the cafe only. The golf course itself is outstanding and I highly recommend playing 18 here. The cafe has a fairly normal country club menu. The view from the deck is gorgeous overlooking the 10th hole. Very relaxing setting. The food itself was very average, the time to get our sandwiches was slow, and the service inconsistent. Our server was super friendly and funny. There were long periods between her visits to the table. They were busy and may not have had enough coverage. Our group ordered a club sandwich, grilled cheese, and a Reuben. Simple stuff, but it took a long time to get them. Not a great food destination, but a very good golf venue. This review is strictly for the restaurant - I have never participated in an event here for golfed. I think this may be a case of right place, wrong order for me. I've dined here twice, both times with pretty decent service, however I was not at all impressed with the food. It wasn't bad by any means but had I not been invited by others, I wouldn't have chosen their restaurant. However, both times members of my party seemed pretty happy with their food so maybe I made the wrong menu choices. Service has been solid; both times I've dined here it was with larger parties and the service was prompt, friendly, and this last visit the waitress was kind enough to notice my grumpy toddler and offer him a coloring book. read more

My experiences with The Oaks have always been VERY positive. For starters I have eaten in the little tavern to the right, the food in there was fantastic! Just a quick lunch, nothing fancy, sandwiches and chili but absolutely no complaints there. I held my wedding in the giant event room about 2 years ago and they went above and beyond all of my expectations. The wedding coordinator (Leslie) is just amazing, the amenities that The Oaks offer are fantastic, and the food was delightful. My only wish is that we had a longer amount of time, because everyone was having so much fun! This year we plan on going in for a Sunday brunch for our anniversary. We were booked for a wedding in August of 2020. As the wedding date approached, it became clear to us that it was not safe to have guests travel from across the country for the event. The venue refused to cancel and only offered to reschedule to 2021. They were willing to host a scaled down event but we were not comfortable with that in the midst of a global pandemic. We lost thousands of dollars and they would not provide any recourse other than offering a date in 2021. We ended up having a small backyard ceremony with our parents. We have moved on with our lives including welcoming a new child at the end of the year, so hosting an expensive wedding at this point is not an option. It is unfortunate that The Oaks showed no flexibility regarding the deposit despite the circumstances, including travel restrictions that were in place at the time. Use caution if you decide to book an event at this venue. read more

Here are my latest observations. The service has gotten worse. The food is still pretty good. I've been there three times in the last month. Each time, the dining room was understaffed. Yesterday (4/28/12). We went in for lunch at 12:15 on Saturday. There were only two groups in the dining room. We decided to sit at the bar because the bartender would have a hard time ignoring us and we figured we would get quick service. There was one person sitting at the bar so we took two empty seats. The bartender immediately told us that some guys on the porch outside had those seats and were coming back in. There were four guys on the porch. Even though there were 8 seats at the bar, the bartender indicated that the whole thing was taken. We moved to a booth and waited for service. Five minutes later, we still hadn't even seen any wait staff and the bartender who was standing around doing nothing didn't even offer a beer. We left and went to the 99. We got great service there. And... the guys outside never came back in. I will continue to go to the Oaks because of the fabulous outdoor seating and the fact that I play golf there. I'll go to the bar and get a beer, but I guess I won't be ordering food. Hey! Manager! Wake up. Your service is awful! It is costing you much business. read more

I have been many times for dinner, brunch events so I thought this would be a nice, reasonable place to take people. The Oaks used to be one of my favorite places to go. But last year they hired a "pro" named Gibby and this guy is one of the most annoying people on earth. We can't get through a round or eat a meal without this guy interrupting and being a general nuisance. He always wants to hang out with you, play a couple holes, or have a drink with you when you really just want to be left alone. It's getting to the point where I don't want to go to the Oaks anymore because I don't want to see this guy. We are always nice to him because I feel bad about being rude. But my patience has worn out. If Gibby stays at the Oaks then I need to find somewhere else to golf. I hope the management at the Oaks gets rid of this guy because otherwise it is a fantastic course and restaurant. But Gibby ruins the whole experience. read more

Disappointed with the online system and its disconnect with the pro shop. I booked 3 tee times with carts online. I was the last to show up and check in. They had the tee time correct but charged us $9 more than the cost online. That's an extra $27 for the three of us. Fairways were in good shape. Tee boxes and especially the greens not so much. Appears they were recently topped dressed. No advisory given prior to booking or arrival. Pro shop is below par. Restaurant was OK. read more

My husband and I have visited The Oaks a few times and found it to be just ok. We decided to try it again the other night for dinner and it was so bad we felt like we were in an episode of Seinfeld. They said the wait was 5 mins, they just needed to clear the table. 20 mins later we are finally seated (almost walked, wish we had). Our table was right next to the bar, and our waitress was so busy talking to the bartender that is was a good 10 mins before we were noticed. From the time we were seated to the time we got our food it was at least an hour (and we ordered right away). It was bland and cold. It had obviously been done for a while and just sat somewhere out back. We asked for our check and boxes (at least our dogs could eat well tonight), and that's when it got really bad. Our terrible waitress was so busy flirting with people, chatting with the bartender ect that it took another 30 mins to get the bill. We tried flagging her down and she would turn her back to us. It was blatantly obvious she was trying to ignore us. I looked around and all her other tables were doing the same. Finally I got up and walked over to her and a group of waitresses that were talking (I could hear them talking about their weekend plans as I approached) and said I would like my check NOW. My waitress looked angry and practically threw it at me (it was in her hands the whole time!!!!!) and then turned her back at me. I have never not left a tip in my whole life, as a matter of fact I typically tip 20-30 percent. But hey, there's a first for everything. I will never go back here again. BEWARE read more

my mother and I ate here on Friday, and it was a beautiful day out on the deck! you would never know something as pleasant as this establishment is tucked away on rt. 108 in Somersworth, definitely a good place to eat, chill and get away from the Tri-City scene The food was delicious - i had the lobster roll and homemade chips - the chips were still warm, so i know they were fresh and we had Sam Summer ale, first one of the season the service was great and the dining room/deck were clean so were the restrooms, which speaks volumes to me i would normally give a place like this 4 stars, but i could not think of a reason to discount by one star so they earned 5 stars from me! Great view from the deck. Nice service but the food took a long time to come for a simple lunch. Food was average. I had the special of the day, a lobster roll with hand cut chips. The bun was soggy and the chips were burnt. My friend had a reuben and fries that looked pretty good. Another friend had a salad with salmon, mostly lettuce with little of the advertised toppings. I had considered hosting an event with them after those experiences, but honestly I saw the price list and I thought it was far more pricy than I saw value in. No eggs, unless you stood in line to order some. Sausages looked like they were not cooked. Hash was dry and tasteless. Family decided to do breakfast this morning, and the Oaks was on the top of the list. First time we had the breakfast buffet was amazing, left nothing to desire but today we left angry. Food, great. Atmosphere, wonderful. Service, fine until a 12 top came in. The 12 top came in ordered drinks and we were left in the dust, They were offered more water, coffee and drinks while our cups stayed empty. After finishing our meal, we waited, and waited. Our waitress went to the 12 top again to check in with them and at the 20 minute mark we left. Hubby handed what we calculated to cover the bill to the dinning room manager and that was that. Both of us work in hospitality and understand that drinks mean tips. This however should not be at the cost of other tables. read more

Have had some decent burgers there but tonight got fish and chips...cole slaw had no taste, chips were supposed to be hand cut, clearly were not, (although one of the better frozen ones ive had) and the fish was edible-ish..i ate some, really needed as much lemon or vinegar as i could put on, but it smelled SOOO BAD, i had to throw to go box away as soon as i could find trash, didnt want that smell in my house!!! I have heard all good reviews about the Brunch at the oaks. So I decided to take my partner there this morning. The hostess asked where we would like to sit. We choose outside. We were seated. We sat there for ten minutes with the waitress going by st least Three different times. There was no attempt for a glass of water or coffee. As we walked out the hostess told us to have a nice day. I took a group of 12 Golfers to play " THE OAKS " and we found the Golf Course very challenging but fair from both the White and Blue Tees ... Each hole layout was very different requiring a multitude shots off of varing lies ... We would reccommend puchasing the Yardage Book if you have not played the golf course before. Shaun Bishop and his Pro Shop Staff were very accomadating and accomplished... The Range Facility and Putting Greens were in good condition as was the Golf Coarse itself. It would be nice if more people replaced and filled their divots, raked the traps and fixed your Ball mark and one additional ball mark .. Respect the Course and the Players behind you ... The Bar, TV, Food and Service were great ..the Pats Game was NOT as they lost to Miami ..Sad but true ... In any event, if you have the opotunity to play or eat at THE OAKS you have our blessing ... We had a great time and will add THE OAKS as an Annual Event it was just that Good !!!! read more

I am a parent of one of the children that attended eppings prom held at the oaks. Rumor has it, that this venue was in part responsible for shutting down our prom over 2 girls being caught with alcohol. If this is the case...i don't suspect anyone else will ever dare, nor should they to hold An event such as this at their facility!!! Shutting down a 40,000.00 (plus) prom party over an isolated incident such as this. Alcohol has been found at MANY proms and they've never been shut down. Many parents want answers as to their involvement in the shutting down of the prom but they are not returning phone calls. If it was our administration that shut it down and not them they should not be taking the heat for a bad decision our administration made. Why this establishment would jeopardize going down with the principal is beyond me. Hopefully this will be fully investigated and the truth will come out. Thanks for returning our calls... Mother's Day brunch 2016- This was our second time trying the brunch at the Oaks. First time was Easter of 2015 and it was ok, maybe 3 *, but this time will be our LAST. Made reservations a couple of weeks in advance (4 adults, 2 kids) and were told it was already booked up but we could get in because of a cancellation. When we arrived our table was immediately ready but so were half the other tables because they were empty for our 12 noon reservation. We were greeted by our waitress, Jordan, who was nice, took our drink orders (orange juice and one lemonade, no alcohol). Our drinks were delivered pretty timely. Now, it goes down hill. A lot of the pans of food on the buffet were 3/4 empty if not empty entirely. (Brunch buffet is supposed to go until 4pm). Most of the food we tried was either inedible or just not good. Eggs Benedict when it finally was available contained hard boiled eggs and toast so chewy you couldn't eat it, home made hash had a horrible taste to it, au grautin potatoes were flavorless and crunchy, roasted potatoes were so over cooked and dry you couldn't eat them. We never got one water refill or offer the ENTIRE meal. No one came to clear plates, we actually had to find an empty dirty table to put them of or they just sat on our table. We were offered a refill once on our juice but she only brought 3 of the 4 requested 20 mins later, (said they had run out of glasses). Had to ask the manager when she stopped by the table for the bill and had to flag her down 20 mins later to see if someone could cash us out. We also were not happy to realize that at $28.95 pp, an orange juice wasn't included?! So our bill was $198 because the juices were all extra as well and we couldn't even get a refill. We won't be back again. Really stinks because it's pretty close and had been ok in the past. read more
