TLDR: an Asian coffee lover's paradise I get my hair cut pretty often nearby and have been stopping by to grab a latte here the last few times. I'm an avid coffee drinker and I'm always seeking out new cafes and coffee experiences. I'm often averse to trying Asian coffee places because I usually find there not to be enough focus on the coffee itself and more focus on sugary, strong and obviously artificial flavors. I'm so happy that I walked in because I love this place. Everything has so much thought and consideration - their baristas are educated about coffee, they roast their own beans, they offer single origin beans, they source their pastries from Bien Cuit as well as asian bakeries, and they even support local artists by displaying their artwork. I told someone working that I was afraid to try the pandan latte because usually places don't get it right - but she said that's the reason they made one. Often, I find pandan to be too strong or too faint to even tell it's there, but this is probably the best pandan latte I've ever had. She told me that it's possible to make it without sugar and the syrup was also dairy free so no worries about lactose intolerance! Overall: one of my new favorite cafes! read more

After seeing my friend Elsie W post about a pandan latte from Artbean, you best know I had to try this spot out. The pandan latte did not disappoint! Creamy, smooth & with a bit of savory, this kept me caffeinated for a while. I would've been tempted for round 2 had I stayed in the area. There's not much of a seating area so better to head here for a grab & go! read more

Meandered in here on a Saturday and it was quite busy. I ordered an Ube Latte (hot) and it hit the craving. I liked that the space had some fun art and gifts to buy. The space is a little awkward to stand in - while I was waiting for coffee I didnt want to block someone's view of the art wall so I just kept awkwardly shifting around until I got my coffee. No places to really sit either, just in-and-out, but the drink was good! read more

Always looking for unique coffee drinks, and I happened to be by Artbean. They have a few drinks that are pretty standard for Asian influenced coffee places. The ube flavor in the ube latte wasn't that strong. However, the coffee hits. It's a much needed caffeine boost for slow mornings. I love that they sell things from local artists. My partner wanted to come here as a rec from NomLife. The place is located very conveniently in the alley where Peachy's and the Nom Wah Cafe is. You are greeted w art history posted throughout the space. My partner ordered the Ube latte and thought it was a 5/5 and would come back. Just expect to pay upwards of $10 lol read more

We stumbled across Artbean one afternoon- such a lucky find! Great selection of specialty drinks, and we tried the pandan latte (with oat milk, it was an extra 75 cents, fyi!) I had never tried pandan before and I was surprised to see a vibrant green drink come out! After further taste testing, I found it had a delightful savory sort of flavor (kind of like almond/vanilla?) It felt like I was drinking in a dessert! It was delicious and also really filling. Interior is very art-sy (I mean, it's in the name right?) They sell their own whole bean coffee and I saw that some of them had some pretty cool packaging. They also offer classic cafe drinks (cortado, espresso, etc) too. read more

I ordered the Pandan latte and I gotta say this was probably the best latte I've ever had! It consisted of the perfect fusion of nutty pandan flavor with creamy coconut and milk. It wasn't overly sweet, but substantially flavored. I highly recommend coming here, as this unique and delicious latte would be difficult to find elsewhere. read more

Came here for the Yin-Yeung drink (half coffee half tea) and I think it was a little watery strangely. I think the tea part could be more concentrated or something? Not sure but it wasn't my favorite yin-yeung as they go, although maybe next time I'll try it iced. I think the coffee could have also been a more creamy/touch more sweetness to the drink? Love this place for the community though as you'll find art pieces decorating the wall honoring Chinatown and Chinese culture. Hear a lot of great things about their other drinks. Limited seating inside but there are a lot of tables outside in arguably the prettiest part of Chinatown. Chinatown also needs more cafes so this is a beautiful addition to the neighborhood. Will def be back soon to try everything else, def not a one hit wonder spot! read more

Stopped by for some coffee post-food coma from eating dim sum nearby. Small little coffee shop tucked into the streets of Chinatown. Some of their coffees have an Asian influence (ube, pandan) and they display art from local Asian artists. We ordered the iced pandan latte with almond milk. I was a little terrified by how green the color looked thinking about how much dye they put in there, but it's also kind of fun. It tasted really smooth, a little on the sweet side, but the pandan flavor was a really nice and interesting way to balance out the espresso flavor. read more

The shaken espresso with coconut cream was a real treat if you are looking to change up the usual ice latte drink. If you are not familiar with coconut cream, it has this light sour note to the sweetness and adds a bit of creamy texture. Inside has cool art decor. Latte is a bit pricey but it's New York so that's to be expected. Really loved the outside seating to enjoy my coffee in the sun. read more

I came into Artbean after seeing one of their signs on the street. I love that their menu has both classic coffee options and speciality drinks with Asian flavors. I ended up ordering their Yuen Yeung, a combination of black tea and espresso. Both the tea and coffee flavor was strong and it tasted like an enhanced Hong Kong milk tea. The drink was very enjoyable! The interior of the store is very small but very cute. They sell a number of small merchandise items, coffee beans, and artwork as well. There are two chairs inside but there is also a lot of outdoor seating in the streets if you are willing to deal with the weather. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back for the rest of their signatures! read more

I was in Chinatown for a funeral and desperately needed a coffee beforehand. Artbean was on the way, so I stopped in for a quick iced coffee. They had a special creamer that had condensed milk, which tasted great with my cold brew. Staff were super nice and very accommodating. I can see myself making a stop here the next time I'm in Chinatown. There are so many bubble tea shops in Chinatown and another coffee addition is very welcome! read more

Was so excited for a new coffee place. I love trying new places around. The two baristas were super nice and great! The second star is only for the super friendly baristas or else it would have made the whole experience only a one star.But I was pretty disappointed in the two drinks I got. Shaken espresso with sweet coconut creme and Yuen Yeung. The shaken espresso drink was just sour. I am not sure if the pull for that espresso was not that good. There was no balance for that drink and you cannot taste the coconut creme. We threw that drink out after the first two sips. It was terrible. The Yuen Yeung initially was a pleasant surprise of flavor with the tea forward and the coffee got washed out from the drink. It tasted like a more watered down hong milk tea with no espresso flavor. I threw out after a few sips. Both drinks did not have a good balance or flavor. I would come back to try just a plain latte and see how their beans are. But after having these two signature drinks I am cautious to come back and try a normal latte. read more

Although I'm sad that Doyers street is becoming so gentrified, I love this new addition to the area. Truly craft beverages with an Asian twist! Each drink is made to order in a strategic, artful way. It's really fun to watch! The ube latte was perfectly done- just a mild, smooth sweetness to balance out the espresso. The aesthetic is nice and there's lots of little Knick knacks you can buy as well. Would recommend! read more

I love this place! I tried two of their signatures -- the coconut shaken coffee and the milk tea coffee. Both had a good amount of caffeine to get my day started and also tasted so delicious without being that sweet at all. The coconut shaken one was light and a bit creamy and smooth, and the milk tea coffee tasted like authentic milk tea. Both were very refreshing!! read more

First let me tell you this... I love exploring Chinatown NYC. I've been exploring Chinatown ever since I've been a little girl with my parents and now either on my own or with my friends. There's so much to explore, to taste and to try. Chinatown is now a mixture of a old skool businesses and modern style eateries. My problem is I always forget to take out some cash and show my support to old skool businesses. As I'm walking around looking for businesses that accepts card payments and I stumbled into this location. They had a sign by Pell St. and Droyers Street and I got intrigued by the flavors they were offering for their lattes. Ube lattes is what caught my eyes. They offered brown sugar coconut milk shaken espresso but I already experienced brown sugar shaken espresso through Starbucks. I wanted to try something new and that was Ube Latte. Oh it was so good, refreshing and something new. I came back in a few weeks and I saw this green latte. I honestly thought it's matcha. The barista explained that it's Pandan Latte, say what? I was so unfamiliar with what is Pandan. I had to look it up in the store on my phone and I asked for a taste. The barista hesitated, I begged please please and she said how? I asked just squirt the Pandan paste into a shot cup and she accepted my request. As soon I tasted it, I couldn't wait to try it with espresso! It had a very interesting vanilla grassy almond flavor alike and I absolutely enjoyed it. I kept coming back for iced Pandan Latte. It is my command to my reviewers to give it the Pandan Latte a try! Oh I have to warn you, it's not as sweet as drinking vanilla latte. If you like sweet, ask for a shot of vanilla into your Pandan latte and enjoy. Cheers! read more

An excellent new addition to the cafe scene in Chinatown! Doyers Street is getting a little too gentrified for my tastes, but I would be willing to brave the throngs of tourists and move past the people in line for Nom Wah to grab another pandan latte ($7). Pro tip: get it with coconut milk to intensify the coconut flavor as it already contains coconut cream in the latte. The panda flavor is front and center and the coffee is the right amount of balance and not at all too acidic. I also love that they support local, Asian businesses and artists and would love to see more businesses on Doyers contribute to that too. read more

As a long time resident in the Chinatown/LES community, nothing delights me more than seeing new small businesses open in our neighborhood. And the fact that the product offering is my favorite beverage certainly puts Artbean even higher on the approval scale. I don't need to rehash the wonderful story behind the genesis of Artbean which I encourage everyone to have a read of. The story and mission to also involve the support of art creation really resonated with me. The cafe makes the most of its 200 sq ft space while ornamenting it's space with wonderfully creative craftsmanship. Even for a grab and go person, I find the coffee flavorful and strong. The youngsters and hipsters are big massive fans of the signature menu items like the Ube Latte and Brown Sugar Lattes, while I enjoy the simple drip and cold brew. The staff are wonderful and really friendly while juggling 4+ orders at any given time. They deserve all the support and please tip generously! Looking forward to having Artbean be a part of my daily coffee run(s). read more

3 word description: cute, small, intentional details: i ordered the ube latte and felt that the coffee overpowered the ube - i definitely would've liked for the ube flavor to be stronger. it was a good drink on a chilly nyc day. the cafe itself is quite small with very limited seating. the decor was really cute, and there was a lot of nicely curated art! they also had a lot of knick knacks that they sold in the store as well. read more

This place is very cute and small inside. Their coffee was honestly just okay. My friends and I tried a hot black sesame latte and a hot ube latte. Both were extremely underwhelming. There was hardly any black sesame and ube flavors. If the lattes were just regular lattes then it's pretty good I would say but since they weren't, the lattes were just okay/bland. read more

The ube latte here... WOW. My partner came by recently to get us one to share but we really should've gotten one each, especially since they only come in the Medium size (we usually share a Large). It was so smooth, so aromatic, so delicious. I love that it's an espresso + ube drink. The ones I've had before are typically an ube-only drink, charging extra if you want to add an espresso shot. I will be back for sure, and I'm not sharing next time. And for about $6.50! So worth it. read more

I don't like coffee in general, but when i passed by this place, the pandan latte caught my eyes and I decided to give it a try. This was really good for me, i didn't need to bear with the strong taste of coffee because the pandan flavor covered the coffee flavor and it was just enough sweetness for me who is getting older for all the sugary things. You can still definitely taste the coffee, but for me, this is a perfect combination since I really don't enjoy coffee but needs its caffeine. Lol read more

This place is always busy outside and I love the ambiance of the place. Their ube latte and pandan latte look delicious so I had to give it a try! Ube latte was a no for me- ube flavor was so light and no coffee taste really, mainly milk Pandan latte was just as disappointing- light pandan flavor and no coffee taste I was watching them making it and no shot of espresso was put in it. So I'm really not sure what type of coffee they use in the drink. a latte is a shot of espresso and milk so if they're not using a shot of espresso that explains why there isn't a coffee taste. The drinks looks so good and I like the ambiance, but unfortunately this place is just not for me. read more

Perfect artisanal coffee and espresso drinks in the midst of Chinatown! After having some dim sum next-door, I tried their black sesame latte, and it was a perfect compliment to my meal. And the fact that this is located in the most famous alley in Chinatown, makes it even more ideal. Hardly any seating inside, but they do have a table or two outside. However, there is a welcomed white counter with 2 tiny stools looking over the alley. read more

The interior itself is antique, quaint, and there's minimal (but some!) seating for you to enjoy your tea at. One of my favorite parts of this shop is that their tea menu is all around the shop, right on their walls. So, you walk around the shop, look at the different teas (organized by type, caffinated/non-caffinated), smell them, and read the labels. I had a lot of fun doing this! Their prices are good and their teas are amazing. Definitely a cool experience!

Never heard of tongmu lapsang but Google says it's a type of smoked black tea from China. The drink had notes of hazelnut in it. I never had a nutty, chocolatey tea flavor combo before so it was refreshing to taste.

Matcha Einspanner. This is my first time having an Einspanner so I have no idea what I was expecting but this is DELICIOUS. It's so silky and smooth and the TASTE is just right up my alley. The matcha is light but you can still taste it. Absolutely, would drink this all the time if I could. 3. Purple Sweet Potato Latte. This. This. Omg, why haven't I tried this sooner?! The first sip and initial taste, I almost tasted nothing, just milk. And then all of a sudden, there's an explosion of flavor in your mouth. As a sweet potato lover, I was in heaven. I have absolutely no words for this drink, just try it. 100/10 recommend. This is probably my favorite one out of the 3 that I bought. I went around ... 2:45PM on a Friday and most of the seats were taken, if I remember correctly. There were a decent amount of seats and the space was decent. The topping was literally like actual tiramisu rather than just tiramisu flavoring, and it felt like there was more ice and tiramisu than latte. Personally, I would have preferred more of the tiramisu flavor without the full tiramisu texture mixed into the drink. That said, it was an interesting concept and I'm glad I tried it. I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying another latte on a future visit.

I probably never leave reviews in general, especially negative ones, but this experience was so…read moreegregious that I honestly felt like I had to say something. I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.

There is seating but not a lot so most people grab their coffee and go. Overall, this is a great coffee spot (that also serves food!) and I recommend popping in if you're in the area!
