I used to come here more often earlier in my career, and I remembered them being a professional operation. They still are. On my recent visit, the counter man who helped me was very professional and polite, and had me on my way quickly with the parts I needed. The business is located in a strip plaza, across from the Greenville Post Office. In addition to a supply counter for plumbing and heating tradesmen, they feature a plumbing fixtures showroom (which is not adjacent, but a few doors down). It is perhaps the nicest-looking exterior of any plumbing supply company that I've ever visited. Also, this supply house is, to my knowledge, the only one in Rhode Island that deals with Triangle Tube and Laars Endurance heating systems. Due to its sharing a parking lot with the post office and other businesses, getting in and out of here can be tricky, so I deducted a star for that reason alone.

They worked via an online company, htpparts.com and I was unaware Smithfield was the fulfillment house. No one seemed to understand the problem, or take responsibility. I found the parts via another retailer. The part number was correct and the exact correct parts where provided. Neither Smithfield or Htpparts.com seemed to understand the situation. They even had a picture of the parts for the part number, but what arrived wasn't what was reflected in the pictures. Never again.

This was right after an early season heat wave, I could not get another appointment with someone else for three weeks. Some background for context, the tech had come out to our house about a month earlier for a hot water problem. At first Almeida impressed us because they came out same day we called. We've been our house for less than a year and the previous owners remodeled and flipped it, not exactly following all the rules and quality standards they should have. Admittingly we requested a gas conversion for an old oil furnace, which isn't really a best practice. The tech appeared to be not too happy about the amount of work he needed to correct to fix out issue, not our fault, but to his credit got it done and did his best to keep our costs at a minimum. This is why I'll give them two stars instead of just one. Bottom line however, cancelling an appointment the night before because you make assumptions of the work needed is just totally unprofessional. Assumptions because we have Nest thermostats, used only for heat...not the a/c units, which was clear to the tech the day he worked on the furnace. Assumptions because it's not a well known brand of mini-split. I can tell you they are displaying low refrigerant codes, likely due to a leak in the system somewhere. I'm not an HVAC expert, but that sure doesn't sound like a brand specific problem to me. You don't want to deal with the leaks? At least just give me a re-charge. We purchased their 1-year "membership" for our furnace which allegedly promises 24/7 same day service, so I'll call them if I have furnace issues...but that's it. The tech also suggested we start thinking about replacing our 25-ish year old furnace. We were going to with them, not anymore.
