There is a well maintained soccer/football field with lines and field goal posts. It's surrounded by a quarter-mile track with a softer paved turf made for track and field competition. A multisport field sits in the middle of the complex where I've seen pick up soccer games, lacrosse practice and ultimate frisbee among other things played. At the end closest to the middle school is a large baseball field and a smaller field probably for softball and kickball. The parking area directly in front of the fields is usually opened at dawn but is small. For bigger events you can park at the middle school and walk a paved path less than a mile long from there to these fields. The path passes a wetland area with an unofficial nature trail through it (that probably gets really muddy after a rain). It's a great spot to go and get fit, especially now as COVID has the school closed giving more time for public use of the fields. I even saw a proposal on the city of Charlotte page to one day turn this into a more official Olympic grade sports training complex. Would be cool to see if that happens.

When I stopped in today, there was some sort of mountain biking trail thing going on, so they clearly have a ton of that. Not much for playground or basketball, but there are other parks nearby that do have them. The park is set back from Johnston Road so it's quite secluded as far as traffic goes. It has a lot of mountain biking trails, but we were just hiking. The lake is really pretty and some of the trails go right along it. I'm not sure if we followed an actual predefined hike, but I think we walked for about 4 miles which is pretty good for a Charlotte park. This is one of the most beautiful parks I've had the pleasure of visiting. There are beautiful views, playgrounds and lawn space for children's play, plenty of parking, trails for walking/bike riding, several bridges, and large trees to compliment the fields. The park is well-kept as everyone here ensures cleanliness and top maintenance. As my dad and I sat down on the bench and soaked in our surroundings, we observed a plethora of activity which included some people flying drones, kids competing in the playground's obstacle course, elderly folks walking, dogs running amok, people racing toy cars, and a few people cycling. The positive energy and vibes were radiant. I'm glad we stopped by here. Definitely worth a visit in Charlotte!

It's a very quiet, quaint and beautiful park tucked in the heart of Pineville, just behind the police station. There is a path which the website says is 1.5 miles. Having walked it, even down the several disjointed sections, I found it to be barely one mile. So, I'm not sure where the other half mile comes from. The grounds are beautifully maintained with crepe myrtle trees aplenty, lots of paved space, flower beds and solid brick buildings. Three baseball fields (technically one and two softball fields), a multipurpose soccer/football/etc. field in the back, a huge painted metal playground and a large steel and concrete bridge over a big creek. The parking lot is huge and well maintained too. There is a train track running just alongside and a few old mill towers and water towers in view. This is arguably the perfect park representative of rural America, despite not being quite so rural compared to when it first opened in the 60s. When there aren't games here, which is most of the time, it's almost dead empty and eerily quiet. If that's your style, you should absolutely pay it a visit.

This is a quaint little park serving the relatively affluent area surrounding it. However, there are plenty of repairs/upkeep needed for erosion especially - the place just looks a bit dated. For my part, I'm disappointed that there is no real walking trail. You can do lots of walking between the large parking lot here and the neighboring church parking lot though, if you don't mind pavement. On weekends they get packed out to the brim. Small kids all over the playground and multiple teams squeezing in practice on the fields. Coolest thing to me were the two cell towers that were disguised as pine trees. Those had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
