I have been a huge fan of the YMCA for many years and think it is your best bang for your buck with quality facilities and a wide variety of classes. If you are a member you can go to all of Indianapolis Ys and there are locations across the country that will allow you to go when you are out of town. This location is my favorite even though it isn't the closest to my home it has early morning classes that I enjoy going to. I have tried a variety of classes that they offer from Pilates to Les Mills Grit and all of the instructors that I have come across have been welcoming and supportive when trying something new. If you are looking for a good place for you and your family to get moving this is a great option. read more

Are you a pro power lifter or crossfitter? Are you training for a bodybuilding competition? If so this prolly ain't the gym for you. If you're part of the other 99.999% of the population the Y will work out just fine. Lots of cardio equipment. An okay selection of free weights. Lots of machines. They have a fitness class area where you can do instructed training. There's also a pool, a basketball court, racket ball courts. All kinds of stuff. In the summer the outdoor pool is open. Drawback is that it's not the cheapest membership ever. Overall I recommend. Helpful staff. Clean facility. Decent amount of lifting opportunities. read more

I drive 25 minutes from downtown to go to the YMCA during the summer for the outdoor pool. I eat a lunch in a designated picnic area that I bring from home, and plop down on a lounge chair to relax. There r always chairs! The only thing I would change is to shut off the music they play aloud ... I bring my own music and listen to it with headphones on and I can't hear it cuz it's competing with their outdoor music, that's geared towards 40 year olds. lol !!! I joined Jordan today and am already disillusioned with their way of showing the class schedules. Not all people are tech savvy, nor do all people have the computer availability to see the schedules. I find it very disheartening to see they are marketing to the younger generation. Bad choice on their part! read more

Always clean! There isn't a ton of space for lifting if you're into that, but if you go later morning or later evening, it's not too busy. They have a good variety of machines but not a ton of free space if you're doing floor workouts. read more

I really like this Y, but it can get a little crowded at times. For this reason, I like to visit during off peak times. This branch is well maintained, clean, and the equipment is modern and in good condition. The staff is friendly as well. I've taken a couple of classes here throughout the years. I've liked each one including the instructors. Since the recent Coronavirus crisis has closed down the facilities they have provided several different classes online via their YouTube channel and FB live. They also do a good job of keeping us informed of any changes via social media as well. read more

I belong to another Y but when I'm Indy I've been using this facility. It's bigger than I imagined it would be looking from the outside. They have a nice variety of cardio equipment. The weight area, like most Y's is limited and a little claustrophobic for me. Checking in as an "away" member was simple. They didn't really tell me where anything was but I managed to find the locker room. Which is spacious and has a sauna in the womens area. It's way in the back though and I have yet to find a bathroom that's closer to the fitness center. read more

If I know one thing, it's that I looooove YMCAs. The concept is great. Not only do they help you work on your physical fitness, they also have learning opportunities for higher education, great summer programs, and kind staff. I've only been to this branch a handful of times, but have taken a cardio dance, yoga, and pi-yo class. The pi-yo and yoga were by far the best and were both led by calm, informative teachers that I really enjoyed (the cardio dance class was held upstairs in an INCREDIBLY warm room). The staff at the counter have always been helpful too. I'd love to swim laps some day, but the pool always looks pretty crowded, so I'd recommend coming at an obscure time if you want to swim. I typically go to the YMCA's in downtown but was up north and thought I'd get my workout in at this branch. I was pleasantly surprised as to how large the facility is! This branch of the YMCA has it all! An indoor and outdoor pool, league sports, tons of cardio machines, the best spin room in Indy, and more! They have plenty of free parking as well as a trailhead to the Monon. Your membership works at other locations around the country which is an awesome benefit. I'm someone who really only enjoys doing cardio, so I can't speak much to the weight area. As of 01/2020 they've started offering Les Mills classes. These are an amazing addition! They upstairs studIo has many virtual options that are full body workouts. The main level cycle room is a beautiful set up with virtual and in-person classes. The only downside about these classes is that they are not available to book on the Mind Body app like the three downtown locations. The few that I've taken I've been the only person, so I understand not wanting to add this feature though. Would recommend a membership here. The staff is friendly and facility is great. read more

I was forced to find a camp for my daughter at the last minute this Summer and a friend recommended the Jordan YMCA. It was convenient, offered a variety of programs and a corporate discount. Warning to alllllll the parents out there. My friend left her 2 year old in the childcare during her sons basketball game today. Much to her surprise her 2 year old walked into the gym alone which is on the other side of the building during the game. She rushed back to speak to the care givers to figure out what happened and they didn't even realize she was gone!! Needless to say she will NEVER leave her kids in their care again. This is absolutely unacceptable and I just want all the parents to know what happened. read more

The child care options here are really good and there always seems to be enough treadmills, bicycles, and other cardio equipment when I'm there. I'd say the smallest area is the free-weights, I'm not sure I'll ever get a chance to utilize this equipment and I'd consider another gym if I needed reliable access to the free-weights . But the pools and kids activities will probably keep me here. The men's locker room is huge and has its own hot tub and sauna. read more

I wish the Indy YMCA had a branch closer to my house...maybe somewhere south of Broad Ripple or on Keystone...but whatever. I understand. That being said, I LOVE the Jordan YMCA. Huge, clean locker rooms and decent towels included in your monthly fee. Never a wait at a *cardio* machine (often a line at the weights though). They have this Fitlinx pro system that lets you log in to all the weight machines. Fitlinx keeps track of how much you lift/press/pump/show-off. You can log into it at the YMCA or from home to see how you are shaping up (get it? haha) as well as log your cadio activity manually. I like to look at my progress charts for motivation. The Fitlinx as well as a trainer session to show you how to personalize/set the machines is included in the monthly membership. Membership fee is very reasonable for what you get. Watch for a membership drive so you can save $$ by joining when they waive the initiation fee (which can amount to a $100+ savings). The staff in the fitness room wear bright blue shirts so you can always find them if you need help. They are so nice and always helpful. When I first moved to Indy this was the one place I felt at home for weeks. Seriously. I just feel I belong there. read more

Jordan Y is my neighborhood YMCA, I'm a little attached, I must say. I have been coming here since I was a little girl and the sense of community I feel makes it easy to rate it 5 stars, even though it's not a top notch gym. They have everything I need in the weight room, and the members do a good job of sharing equipment and keeping it clean. I love my group fitness class, there's something to fit every schedule. Dawn, Alma and Annie rock! I know the other instructors are awesome too, because I hear great things from the other members in the classes that I can attend If you want a fancier Y, go to CityWay or Fishers, but if a want community feel- Jordan has that. read more

In Indianapolis, I've been a member of Cardinal Fitness, Gold's Gym, LA Fitness, and most recently, the Jordan YMCA. Cardinal was no thrills, never really busy, and cheap. Towards the end of its existence, we really felt it wasn't being cleaned properly...so we moved onto Gold's! Gold's was tacky? We did not stick with it for long. LA Fitness was HUGE, always INSANELY BUSY, and really stuffy. For all the money they took from me, why couldn't I get some damn AC? Plus, getting out of their contract was a bitch. Still, it worked when I lived nearby. And now...the Jordan Y. The workers (there are so many!) are super friendly. The Y has classes, though the most popular ones (yoga, pilates) require a fee. Boo. I love their sliding scale. I love that they offer free childcare. Unfortunately, the actual workout room feels small to me. I'm used to weight-machine OPTIONS, people. I'm used to so many elliptical machines, I don't have to work out next to ANYONE. Oh well. It adds the community vibe, in a way. Avoid Saturday mornings and after 6 pm weekdays -- too busy. But Sunday mornings are pleasantly chill (thank you, Y members, for going to church!) read more

We are family members of the Y, and have been taking our toddler here for group swim lessons. He has really enjoyed the lessons, and it's a priority for him to be a confident and safe swimmer. The outdoor pools are great for everyone. There are lanes available for those swimming laps, and large open areas for family swimming and just relaxing in the water. There is a large slide, and a great baby pool and splash pad. It's never been crazy crowded, but it's def a great family spot. I do not use this gym every day, but it has been a great back up on weekends and the occasional early morning or evening. Facility is always clean and is never crazy crowded like the downtown YMCA. There is a good variety of weights and machines as well as cardio equipment. Like most Ys, they have several classes that members can attend at various hours throughout the day. I've been to several cycling classes as well as Les Mills Bodypump. The instructors for all have been great and I always feel like I get a good workout. The only negative I have is that some of the free weights/racks as well as the locker room is a little dated (everything is still in good shape though!). read more

I am so happy I joined this gym! I've never had a bad experience while getting my sweat on here. From the moment I walk in the doors, I am greeted by every staff member I come across. From the custodial staff to the personal trainers, everyone smiles and says "hello." In addition to the warm atmosphere and friendly staff, the place is always very clean. There are always staff members cleaning equipment as soon as it has been used, even if said equipment has already been cleaned by the person who was using it. There are many options to choose from when it comes to equipment. For a cardiovascular workout, this includes ellipticals, stairmasters, treadmills, rowing machines, seated bicycles, and more. There is also a large area devoted to free weights. In addition, there are the weight lifting machines which display easy-to-understand directions. Not only does this facility provide plenty of high quality weight-lifting and cardio equipment, but the Jordan YMCA also offers plenty of classes. There are many different choices for all shapes, sizes, and abilities when it comes which class to choose from. Most of the classes are free, but a few come at a cost. If you have little ones, this amazing facility even offers a daycare as well as summer camp! Speaking of summer, the pool at the Jordan YMCA is large, clean, and even has water slides! And if you want to get your swim on in the off seasons, there is an indoor pool as well. I became a member to take adult swim lessons, and worked out for a number of years and continued to take lessons. Let's first talk about the basics. Diverse membership is easy going-no need to put on a $100 worth of workout gear to workout here. Equipment good and usually well maintained. Crowded at peak times, be prepared. Please be alert to the neighborhood and do not store valuables in your vehicle and exercise caution after dark. So much of my below average review depends on the people who work there. Don't get me wrong, some are amazing, genuine and motivated, and connect with members while providing great service. Others seem to go through the motions, or lack service skills, communication, etc. My first swim lesson the instructor didn't show. No one had let him know I was starting. The communication between the aquatics manager (responsible for tracking my attendance and any scheduling) and the teacher was poor. Others staff I would often hear talking about other members cattily after interactions with members. Some staff was great, others lacked any motivation or real care to provide great service. Most recently, when I went to cancel my membership, I was told it was taken care of, yet I still have been charged again. When I called, the person I spoke to was unable to help. I would have to come in again. And the charges would stick. read more

Remember that Iraqi guy that threw a shoe at W. in a press conference? Well, that was really brilliant. My run on the Monon Trail yesterday...not so much. I was W. & my gurgly bowels was the guy that threw the shoe. Thankfully, like Dick Cheney is always there to bail out W...the YMCA was right there to save a stranded man. What really gives the Y 5 stars are two things: the incredibly nice, accessible, landscaped, path from the Monon directly to the Y, and then the woman at the front desk who had no qualms directing me to the Men's Room. I had never been in...and, really, it felt like a million-dollar school, and just as nice as LA Fitness. It's definitely above & beyond your everyday YMCA. Location! Location! Location! Its proximity to the Monon & Broad Ripple make this place a very attractive gym option. read more

I have been debating on joining an all purpose facility for a LONG time. I have researched several options in my immediate area and after a few recs, checked out the Jordan YMCA one day with my friends. Affordability is important and the value. I checked into the Monon, as it seems to be the true "go to" in Carmel, but honestly, for what you GET, it's just not a great value. The Y offers a 2 hour childcare option included while you work out, swim laps or just chill in the rec room along with paid care for up to 3 hours should you need to leave the area. From the Jordan location, you can walk the Monon, which is a nice perk of this particular Y. There are plenty of freebie classes, a nice gym, oversized locker rooms with exercise equipment inside them (which I've never seen anyone use), a huge outdoor pool with splash pad and baby zero entry option. There is plenty of parking, everyone seems really nice when we are there and the pool is not really that crowded. I HATE crowds of kids and people and this was my biggest fear joining the Y. Well, with regard to Jordan, it is NOT that bad. The pool employees are always really nice to my very inquisitive son and of all the amenities, the $84/month is WELL worth the use of this pool area. We also will also be taking advantage of Parents Night Out, where they will watch the kiddos, play a movie, have arts/crafts and serve pizza and popcorn all for a very affordable babysitting rate three times a month. Very cool! I have never NOT regretted joining something so much. Usually I just waste a membership but in the two weeks I've been a member, we have gone at least three times a week and I think it will increase over the hotter parts of the summer! I highly recommend this location. The nice thing with the membership is that we can go to any of the greater Indy area Y's. That's an awesome perk as well as we can get a discount to visit another Y in another city. NICE! For now, we'll stick to the Jordan location but I am looking forward to checking out Fishers. There really is a little something for everyone. read more

Can you walk to your workout facility? Or run home even if it's raining? We can. This is why I like the Jordan Y. Once upon a time it was backed up to a railroad. Now it is backed up to the Monon Rail Trail. So we can walk there in less than 5 minutes. Quicker than I can drive there. All the other stuff is there: childcare, preschool? Check. Outdoor pool for summer? Check. Friendly people? Check. Classes/Trainers? Check. Etc. Etc. For us, it's part of our daily life. And we love it. read more

I'm not hating on the Y. I do love it. It's clean and the people are nice, the location is great (although, I do wish there was one in Butler Tarkington) and the childwatch staff is amazing. I anxiously await the day that the outdoor pool opens. Although, at the rate I'm going I'll get to spend about 10 minutes there before I have to go pick up my screaming child from childwatch since she thinks I'm going to abandon her and sign her care over to Trevor. That leads me to Trevor. He's a childwatch staff. All of the childwatch staff have been very nice but Trevor is soooo nice and he is soooo good with the kids. Keep him Jordan Y, he's a gem. Katherine is also great and deals very well with all of the kiddos. I think the price is decent. I haven't found another place with all the amenities and classes AND childcare for this price. I just can't give it 5 stars, maybe it's because I'm greedy, grumpy or jealous? I'll tell you why the Jordan Y is missing it's 5th star. I wish there were more classes offered. When I go look at the schedule and compare it to the Fishers YMCA class schedule, I'm insulted. Why does Fishers have better classes, more classes, a packed schedule? I don't want to drive up there UGH! And, it's expensive. $71 for a single person + a 1 year old is.. expensive. read more

Great, warm atmosphere. I'm a recent member and I appreciate the friendly staff and comfortable environment. I just found out about the sauna and hot tub in the locker room, so I'm excited to check those out more! New members receive free wellness coaching sessions to get started and I have been appreciating those as I am working to improve my health and wellness. I like the variety of classes and equipment and have yet to get bored. This branch seems to attract more of an older crowd compared to other locations, such as the downtown Y. I think some of the interior is a bit outdated, but overall, very functional and a great place to work out! read more

I love The Y! This location can get pretty crowded at peak hours, but that's to be expected. No different than any other gyms. My favorite parts about this Y: -TVs on all cardio equipment... and the channels include Food Network and HGTV! This is important.. I don't have cable at home! -Outdoor pool that is great in the summer -Sauna inside the locker rooms -Good Zumba and spin classes -Nifty water bottle fill-up station Cons of this Y: -Crowded at times! And pretty much always full of kids, especially in the summer -The classes aren't at convenient times for me. They either start at 4:30 or 6:00 in the evenings. I get off work at 4:30, so neither of those times are great for me personally. Overall, I like the Jordan Y a lot, and I like the Indy Y's as a whole too. Love that my membership gives me entrance to all of the YMCA's in the Indy area, so I can try different ones sometimes. read more

I love my Y. Why? Lemme count the ways... First and foremost, this puppy is located between work and home, right smack dab next to the Monon (with a convenient access trail to it from the parking lot), and super close to Kroger, Whole Foods and Target. Second, group exercise classes are included in the price of membership and I love me some zumba. There are a ton of classes offered, including spinning, strength classes and more. A few are an additional cost, but the vast majority are included. Third, they have cardio machines with TVs. I can workout and watch Food TV at the same time. Hooray for multitasking! Fourth, pools. One indoors and one out. Oh and a spa and sauna in the women's locker room. Fifth, programming. There is always a special event, some new program to try or something to learn. Bonus: I don't have kiddos, but there is free childwatch, which I'm sure moms and dads love! read more

Jordan YMCA summer camp for kids is the best reason to join YMCA. The staff, although sometimes overwhelmed, really love their jobs as counselors. It shows in the love that the kids have for them. Several times we have run into various couselors outside of camp and my kid always remembers each and every one of them and runs to give them a hug. The facilities here are really clean and in great shape too, especially considering the age of the facility. They have continually upgraded and added on to the facility throughout the year. There is the indoor and outdoor pools AND a brand new splash park, along with the exercise and cardio, basketball gym/multipurpose. The facility is not large and parking can be tough, but the staff is definitely what makes this place outstanding. read more

I don't recommend this Ymca. This is the worst one out of all of them. Very small, only has one basketball Gym and it's super small. The workout room is even worse, it's super small as well, they do have a decent amount of weights. Both Pools are ok, the outside one way to small, it's a lap pool outside. The one inside is a Lap pool, but that's how it's supposed to be. The one outside way to small, and I really don't recommend. I recommend the Fishers Ymca, a little bit further but 10x better. read more

If you like to really lift, they have squat racks and deadlift areas and quite a nice collection of equipment. If you like cardio, they have a huge variety as well. I joined the Y a few months ago, and I'm very happy with it. I usually use the pool. They have both an indoor pool and a large outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is much larger, so there is more availability for lap swimming in the summer. The locker rooms are clean. They have lockers in the locker rooms and there are also small token lockers in the hallway if you forget a lock (tokens are free at the front desk). They have free towel service too! I'm looking forward to trying some of their classes! read more
