I am a 34 year-old male, and I went there to get a pedicure... my first time in a nail salon in my life. I went based on a recommendation from a friend. I looked up places and chose this based on reviews, and went with my girlfriend. We were both thoroughly amazed... they took us back right away on a busy Sunday, they had massage chairs, great scrubs and salts, and were really talented. They had a fish tank and a large screen TV, and had great 80s music playing in the background...a really pleasant atmosphere. I read other places smelled of fumes, but not this place. I have been going here since they opened. They are so friendly, do a great job and are even open on Sunday. I have never had a problem with my manicures and most last about 2 weeks without chipping. I used to have really bad ingrown toenails but not since I started having pedicures there! They take their time with waxing and don't miss stray hairs. I see others have had problems but I find that if you tell them when you see something, they correct it right away. Just say something to them. Don't go home and then complain on Yelp! Very nice atmosphere, customer service and selection of products and styles. I went in for the first time about 5-6 years ago for my prom and asked them to replicate a design I saw online. They did their best to replicate it and it looked great! I live in Philadelphia now and recently was in the area and wanted to get my nails done. I happened to be close and went in again. The environment is calm and they make sure the place doesn't smell too strongly of nail products, which is extremely considerate of their customers. I initially told them I wanted acrylic. when she started cleaning and prepping my nails, she mentioned how I have very small nails. I laughed, because I know this and many have told me, I said I knew and that I like long nails and acrylic but it's just a pain because acrylic never lasts longer than a week for me. She told me she will give me powder gel nails and that they will last 3 weeks minimum and to get them refilled at the 3 week point. I told her okay and it was only $10. I was extremely surprised that they did in fact last me 3 1/2 weeks before I had them refilled. They are not a very fancy place and I'm sure that there are many places in Philly that possibly can do better designs and such. But I love the environment they create, they don't rush you or make you feel uncomfortable. They always give you suggestions to achieve the best nail look and always ask how you like your nails as they go on. read more

My coworker and I just went to Artisan Nails over lunch and what a very bad experience! First of all the prices quoted were outrages and the woman who did my nails cut me 6 times (a regular manicure), did not paint to the edges of the nails, the base coat was too dark and they wouldn't change it but it was their recommendation for a french. The base coat is not even on the nails. Very poor job. Do not waste your time or money. My coworker, was lucky in that they took me first and when they explained the price to her for what she wanted, she opted not to have her nails done but they had already began mine. =-( OMG, really poor service and very poor quality. I am very upset that I wasted $32 on such a poor job. Do customers have any rights in these situations? Don't go here!!! read more

Worst manicure I've ever received! 3 of my cuticles were bloody, my nails were uneven and the color was patchy. Terrible. Never again.

Went here on Sunday since my normal salon was closed for the holiday. Prices were reasonable but the manicure I got was very poor quality. It looked like a child painted my nails. Their polishes all looked old and thick. And when my nails were being polished I couldn't see all the flaws at first but once I got home, noticed there was polish on my cuticles and the tips were not completely painted. The polish was too thick in some spots and sheer in others. She also didn't file them well. I just can't believe they let me walk out like that. Will not be going back. read more

I have been pretty loyal to this place for a little over two years now. I either see Michelle or Stacy (who is a love). After seeing me a few times Stacy talked me into getting the dip. Which now I have to get because gel doesn't last on me and this is better. But, the technique has faded. The point of upgrading to a higher service and paying more is to get better service and a longer lasting manicure. Mine maybe lasts 2 1/2 weeks which I know might sound greedy- but its not. The edges are never thin enough and the polish starts doing that thing where it gets caught in your hair. If I wanted a "thick" nail look I would just get acrylic. I have seen them verbally attack their customers before so I won't dare say something other than to Stacy about what I don't like. And I'll never ask for my money back because the male owner makes it so embarrassing. I wish they were more leisurely because sometimes coming here is stressful but I'll probably continue to go because Stacy will fix what I ask her to. read more

WORST PEDI EVER!!!! I think I wash my feet in the shower for longer than this pedicure took. The worst part is they weren't even busy. I went with a friends and the two women doing our pedicures rushed through them and then went to go talk to each other in the corner. This salon gives the longest lasting manicure I've ever gotten! I've never been a loyal customer of any nail salon, as I usually only get a manicure for special occasions, but this salon keeps me coming back!! When I get a basic manicure, it lasts for at least 10 days...sometimes two weeks before the paint chips! They do a great job, are friendly, and really appreciate your business. I think they do a very good job, and if they make a mistake and you go back, they take care of it, and do not charge. Standard nail place. Decent prices. Allows walk-ins which is convenient for my busy schedule. My only complaint is that when you walk in and they are clearly full to capacity they will still whisk you to the back to a pedicure chair to wait, without any indication of how long it may be. I have asked before, and heard it would be 5 minutes, but was still waiting about 25 minutes later. Going to this Nail Salon was truly the worst experience I've ever had in any establishment I have ever had. It was my first time going to this nail salon and the owner (woman) was doing my nails. I had a full set of acrylics on. She took off one of my acrylics and made me take off the rest myself as she walked away from me doing who knows what. I made an appointment for the dip-powder which goes over your natural nail. She proceeded to put white tips on my nails with regular nail polish. 1 hand has rounded tips and the other has square. They look so terrible I had to get the redone today. She then yelled at me telling me she did nothing wrong, I was too picky and she has never done anything wrong. I have never been spoken to by someone like this woman spoke to me. Absolutely direspectful and degrading. She made such a scene that everyone in the salon was staring making me so uncomfortable and embarassed. When I was checking out after being on the verge of crying she then continued to speak about me right in front of me. They told me on the phone it would be $35 and then made up an excuse and told me it was $45 for something that she did because she was too lazy to do the dip-powder as I asked. I paid by card and went to walk out. She screamed at the top of her lungs for me to "Get my ass back there and sign the receipt or she was calling the cops". I have never been so uncomfortable, disrespected and so upset over any establishment in my life time. I have never left a bad review but I truly hope people read this and NEVER GO THERE. For an owner to treat a customer, especially a first time customer the way I was treated deserves to go out of business. Terrible!!! I would never go back here. I got a gel manicure done last night after work (around 5:30 pm) and she did a horrendous job! She missed the sides on 4 of my nails, 2 chipped in the corners already, 1 whole nail peeled off in the shower this morning, the tops by the cuticles are extremely uneven and they already look grown out a week! Not to mention she did an awful job filing and my nails were catching on everything! I had to come home and smooth them out myself! Just when you think it can't get worse, 3 nails on my right hand are all bubbly because she didn't let the base coat gel set properly before applying the polish! So much for having my nails done nicely so that I can show off my new engagement ring! I am going to the salon today to get my money back then heading straight to Do Nails (on Ridge Rd and Rt. 363 in Trooper) to get them fixed! An honest and unbiased review. I too have been to several nail salons in this area. It is an average sized salon without the fancy décor as some of the others. The staff seems to work under strict supervision of the owners which are always present. It appears the nail techs are instructed to work quickly so they could move on to the next client to generate more income. However in doing so, I've often felt extremely rushed consequently leaving me at times with sticky or bumpy nails. The owner is gracious and acknowledges the complaints of customers feeling rushed but this is the nature of this place. It is not my nail salon of choice for the cushy, pampered feeling. Instead Artisan is there to simply get the job done and sometimes at a hit or miss cost for the customer. I consider this to be a clean salon and the techs wash and sterilize their tools and the footbaths after each use. Prices are reasonable and they offer a frequent visit card which entitles you to a free mani or pedi after several visits. I recommend this nail salon if you are in the area and looking for a no frills, quick nail visit. read more
