A few months ago, I decided it was time to replace my carpeting so I compiled a list of carpet sellers near my home & then went online to read reviews in order to select several to visit. I wanted to see a comprehensive selection of what was available, compare pricing & hopefully, find a retailer who would provide a good installation experience. Floor Concepts and Design was the last place I visited. I walked in the door at about 4:30 pm & saw no one working there so I just started looking at the carpeting samples, taking notes for pricing & possibly samples. Maybe 10 - 15 minutes after I arrived, a man whose name I found out was Ali (& from the online reviews, gather is the owner) finally appeared & instead of offering a standard greeting such as "Hi. Can I help you?", he told me that the store would be closing at 5 pm--not particularly welcoming. In any case, I told him that I was almost finished browsing & asked if he could provide me w/pricing which he stated he would. However, when I read each style name to him, rather than consult his computer or a vendor price list, he gave me pricing off the top of his head which really raised red flags for me as unless this guy has a phenomenal memory, most people need to look this sort of information up. Plus on one carpet which offered several quality levels for which I wanted pricing on two, he gave me the same price quote & when I asked about this, he told me the pricing was the same which I seriously doubt it actually is. Nonetheless & despite the fact, he had already lost me as a customer, I requested samples which he told me he would order the next day & not surprisingly, I never received these samples (but I was able to contact the manufacturer & get order them directly). My thinking was that if one of the sample turned out to be what I wanted in my home, I would do the actual ordering from another retailer as I couldn't imagine doing business w/this person after the experience I described. read more

On balance EXCELLENT experience! We were very much in the market for flooring to replace a worn and stained 2nd floor bedrooms carpet. I researched a lot of local flooring companies on the internet, especially here on Yelp. I also got price from my very good friend but Floor Concept & Design came out on top of that process. Like some others, I went in and talked to Mr. Ali, with free samples I received from my search. Ali matched it with better quality product and better price. He explained in detail about my choices and why I should or should not use certain flooring material. He was extremely knowledgeable compare to other company's representatives. The rest of the process - Ali came out to our house for measure; his explanations of the process, delivery of the material went very smoothly. The installers were great, and finished in less than 3 days. The floor looks awesome and Floor Concept & Design prices are competitive for the same product and lower than others in our area. His installers were very on time. They arrive around 8:00AM and leave by 5:00PM. The house was cleaned up every night and room furniture was moved with a lot of caution. I couldn't be more pleased. He has a diverse range of materials in his store. He showed me more options than another company I was exploring. He helped me match the new flooring for the second floor to the existing flooring on the first floor and the stairs. Ali's offer was less expensive and for the job done faster. The other estimate I got was for 3 days and it was more expensive even after a promotional discount. Ali was not pushy and I just got a sense of him as an honest, trustworthy guy. Three workers (Melvin was in charge) completed the work in one day as promised! They arrived at 8 am, left at 5 pm. They kept dust to a minimum, and when they finished, they cleaned up after themselves. They connected the shoe molding to the baseboard with a caulk with such precision, that it looks like one solid white baseboard! My new floors look perfect. I am extremely pleased, because the work was done superbly, I was treated with patience and respect, and I got a very good price. I want them to do other work in my house. read more

We highly recommend Ali and the crew from Floor Concepts and Design. From the first time we met Ali at his showroom he continuously educated us on finding the right hardwood for our home. When he came to take hardwood measurements at our house he also educated us on the installation of the porcelain being installed in our kitchen, even though it was from a different contractor. He made sure that the intersection of the porcelain and hardwood were at specific locations to ensure a seamless look. He consulted with us room by room to make sure we that the end result would be something we were proud of, and there would be no regrets later on. Melvin, Angel, and the other installers prompt, very skilled, and always cleaned up before leaving. They moved our furniture from room to room as the installation progressed, and moved everything back where we wanted it. They are very efficient and professional. And finally, the price for our hardwood floors (with installation) were the best in the area, even for the exotic hardwood we chose. I recently hired this company to refinish my existing 16 year old hardwood flooring throughout the main level of my home. I thought the price was very reasonable for the 4-5 days of work that this entailed. I elected to use this company after reading all the very favorable reviews on Yelp and Google about Ali and his crew. I have no regrets about doing so. The crew did a fantastic job and my floors now look absolutely gorgeous! There was also surprisingly relatively little dust --the crew did a great job of minimizing this using plastic sheets to wall off various areas as necessary. They also took great care to protect the floor while moving furniture around, and they were even willing to put new felt floor protector pads (that I supplied them with) on the legs of chairs, tables etc. In summary I highly recommend this company with no reservations whatsoever! read more

I needed new flooring for a condo I was selling and entered Floor Concepts and Design with little knowledge of the possibilities and no fixed idea of what to do. I was immediately impressed by the options nicely displayed in the bright showroom. The owner was friendly, patient and very helpful, explaining qualities of the different materials and considerations to bear in mind. His advice was very useful and the selection was broad and exciting. I later decided to replace wall-to-wall carpet in my new condo with hardwood, so we repeated the process, again to my complete satisfaction. Ali came to our house himself to inspect the work (hardwood) while it was being installed and after to make sure we were completely happy. Ali is very knowledgeable, professional, responsive, patient polite. He and his team were flexible and always on time. The installation team was hard working, and willing to accommodate our requests. They spent two and half days doing the installation to ensure good quality while other contractors estimated finishing in one day. We replaced the shower walls, floor, glass door and repaint the walls in our master bath. The price was lower than the other estimates we received and the quality of work was excellent. The work was started and finished on time, the work area was cleaned up every day so the rest of the bathroom was usable, the installers were considerate and kept checking that we were in agreement with what they were doing, and the final result looks great. At the end of the project, we were not happy with the shower door installed by a subcontractor and Alireza intervened and made sure the shower door was done right. Had new flooring installed and existing flooring refinished. Ali did not bother to show up for the job when it came time to install, surprising given the size of the shop. The actual flooring job was ok but the moulding he installed was terrible - cheap, poorly cut, and not what was there before. I had to go out, buy the proper moulding, and argue with him to come back and re-install. He actually yelled at me I did not know what I was talking about - not exactly courteous customer service. They finally did install the correct moulding after much debate and the end-product turned out ok, but yeah, the process was painful and I would not recommend them nor would I ever hire that shop again. read more

Floor Concepts and design and their three other workers come on Monday and they were fast, efficient and professional. They moved our furniture, ripped off most of the carpet and set up the concrete for leveling the first day. When I came back on the second day, I was expecting a lot of work, but they, I walked in and the floors were already set up that night! I inspected them work and I was very happy. They Cleaned the areas in which they worked and put my furniture back where they were original. It seemed they were never there! My Floors are now level and the laminate looks amazing. He was the only vendor of three who was able to address an unsightly drain in our basement floor in a manner that was aesthetically pleasing, which meant volumes!!!
