Instead of fixing the problem, their crew walked away, leaving me with a huge mess--darkish orange floors, sanding debris everywhere, orange-stained baseboards, furniture crammed on one side of the house, and even a $715 furniture moving fee. Then Rudy from Kustom Flooring stepped in and delivered everything they promised--and more. Rudy, along with his brother Jimmy and the crew, showed up every morning and worked tirelessly all day. They placed felt pads on our furniture, moved everything into our garage for a very reasonable fee, and then moved everything back afterward. They also protected our entire space: every entry, our 20-foot foyer, and every light fixture and wall hanging were covered with plastic to keep any sanding dust from escaping their dustless sanding systems. Once the dustless sanding was finished, Rudy and Jimmy walked us through our options for staining versus unstaining. We chose unstained floors, sealed with one coat of Bona Clear and two coats of Bona Traffic HD. By the time they were done, we had gorgeous floors that completely transformed our home. I expected to need a cleaning service once the job was finished, but Jimmy and his team handled everything. They cleaned our entire space--vacuuming even the curved staircase and upstairs hallway--so when they were done, there was no dust left behind. We've had quite a few projects on our home, and while most have been very positive, we've never had anyone like Jimmy--he takes real pride in his workmanship and genuinely cares about his clients. Because my husband's chronic illness has made us overlook some small issues around the house, Jimmy stepped in without being asked: he replaced a broken doorstop, repaired a damaged light fixture, and even changed the lightbulbs in our pantry. For example, a quartz kitchen countertop cracked. Surprised. The piece was faulty. The crack was not due to poor installation. We only had to make one call to Dan who took care of it. Easy peasy. He helped us redesign our first floor (including kitchen and bathroom), meeting with us multiple times to come up with a design that worked for our needs. He helped us figure out what materials and design elements worked for our home, really going above and beyond to help us make a lot of decisions. His experience meant that he was able to take our vision of what we wanted our home to be and turn it into reality. The actual project itself could not have gone better. The crew was phenomenal. I was convinced I was going to have to drop several grand to replace my 10-year-old Room & Board sofa. He came in, diagnosed the issue immediately, and did a professional foam reinforcement and spring repair that has the couch sitting like it's *brand new* again. Beyond the work, he was a pleasure to deal with. He even took the time to look at a neighbor's custom furniture repair while he was here and gave them solid, friendly advice on how to save their money. No high-pressure sales from this dude. He also specializes in 'sofa surgery' -- disassembling furniture to fit through those notoriously tight DMV hallways and elevators, then rebuilding it perfectly on the other side. It's a specialized skill that is a total game-changer for anyone living in DC. Note: There are a couple of negative reviews on here which you can disregard. My experience was def the exact opposite. Everything started out smoothly. Jacob arrived to my house and we discussed the project we wanted…read moredone. Replace laminate flooring with carpet for the majority of our basement. Carpet was supposed to go all the way to the pillar shown in the picture. Jacob explained that due to where the laminate was installed, they were able to get very close to the pillar, roughly 1 inch away. We agreed to this and a quote was received and approved. When the installers arrived, I explained to them everything as I explained to Jacob, including installation up to the pillar. They asked if they were doing the stairs too, and I said no. This should have been the first red flag of miscommunication. When the work was done, I noticed that the carpet did not reach the pillar as we have discussed. It was roughly 2 vinyl planks away (over a foot away!). The installers told them Jacob only told them 17ft installation, not to the pillar. Which was odd, since I specifically told the installers that it should have gone up to the pillar. If there were some confusion, why did they not ask me about it? At this point, it was too late to fix. Jacob arrived and confirmed it as supposed to go the pillar, and further confirmed that it was too late to do anything. By failing to remove all the vinyl planks up towards the pillar, this also caused the end of the carpet to not be able to be tucked under the laminate. Now there is an area of the carpet that sticks out as well, also shown in the picture. Finally, our basement has a step down area. By removing the laminate, it exposed a gap in my baseboard. I would have hoped that the installers would have asked us how to proceed, rather than just ignoring it and proceeding. So now I have more imperfections due to the carpet installation. At the end of the day, the carpet was mostly installed as we requested. Just wished that the communication would have been better. Now I am stuck with imperfections in my basement. The ironic part is, the leftover roll of carpet they provided me would have been enough to cover the area they failed to install.
