They are absolutely terrible at scheduling their own appointments. I spoke to somebody on the phone about three days ago to schedule an appointment for Friday at 1 PM. Friday comes around, and I drop my dog off. Cool, no problem. The lady told me my dog would be ready in about 2 hours. 3:30pm comes around and so I park outside waiting for a call and 30 minutes, still nothing. So I walk inside and the lady tells me that I never had an appointment. She thought I was another customer who was scheduled for around that time apparently. So she said she can squeeze my dog in and be ready in an hour. Made no sense because I showed her the time/day of the phone call and she had nothing to say. Mind you, it's 5pm and now I have to wait ANOTHER hour for my dog to be ready. If I never parked outside of the building and went inside to ask about my dog, I would've never gotten a call because she told me she didn't even have my name and phone number. Absolutely ridiculous. Edit: My dog is 12 lbs. Didn't think that that was considered medium. read more

It's hard alone to find a place to groom cats especially if your cat is 50/50 spicy attitude. Came across this place eating at a restaurant in the center and i took my cat here twice, Both of the times she ended up getting out of my apartment and I personally didn't feel like fighting her for bath once I got her back lol and they handled her well and when she comes home she all in a better mood. Highly recommend and also have flea baths option. And very affordable prices. read more

Stay away!!! I wish I could give no stars but I have to to be able to write this review! This place permanently damaged both of my dogs eyes and my male dog is scarred forever!. I wish i never ever saw this place online and I wish this place never existed. The groomer Kaitlyn put harsh severe chemicals in my both of my 5lb yorkies' eyes and caused severe chemical burns in both of their eyes. My female was able to heal with a less noticeable scar but my male's right is forever scared white. I've talked to the owner Raffi Melkom, about the female dog and we worked out an agreement but he completely ghosted me when I followed up about my male pup. Instead, his groomer contacted my vet and questioned his examination. My dogs were supposed to go for a regular bath and nail trim on 11/8/2023. The groomer Kaitlyn called and asked if we wanted flea treatment and unfortunately we said yes not knowing this inexperienced person was going to get whatever treatment she used in my dogs' eyes. When I asked her what she used she said it was all natural flea soap but the owner said she actually used Dawn Dish Soap. I have no idea what they actually put in my babies eyes but my male is scarred forever. This place is a dangerous dangerous place pretending to be a dog grooming service. Saw only one review on here (and a very bad one at that) so I thought I would counteract that with my own very positive experiences at the Artistic Pet Salon! We have had nothing but great experiences here with my dog as well as my in-laws' schnauzer who we also bring. My dog has short hair but we bring him in for a bath and they give him the works, even brushing his teeth! He's always white like snow when they're done with him and happy as can be. They also have no problem that he's an 80-pound pit-bull mix. In fact he seems to be a favorite, and we even got the nicest basket full of treats and card for Christmas from them! Alfie the schnauzer always gets a nice haircut, and they groom the way you ask, not how it's supposed to be done based on breed standards or whatever. Alfie likes to roll around in the dirt, and therefore doesn't do well with a lot of hair left on his stomach area and legs. Some groomers have resisted requests to shave those parts, but it's no problem for the Artistic Pet Salon. Price also seems to be good, with Alfie costing about $10 or $15 less than other places. The place is always packed when we come in on Saturdays, and it does take a while for them to finish with your dog, so it's good if you live nearby or don't have any plans that can't be interrupted. But we usually enjoy the dogs being gone for a while haha. read more

We have four very different mangy mutts that we have been bringing to Artistic Pet Salon for more than a year. We had our reservations at first because the groomer who was doing our dogs when we first came would leave track marks from the clippers. However, since she's moved on and Deborah has taken on the challenge of our dogs we can only say hooray! Deborah never fails to fit us in at the last minute and always does an excellent job on the various types of hair and fur our dogs present. Her attitude is great too and its fun just to say hello when we go in and out of the salon. The salon, when it was on Olive Avenue, was clean and antiseptic as it should be but had a homey feel. Tomorrow we are going to the new location on Shields Avenue and expect we will find much the same if not even better. I will let you Yelpers know. Currently, we pay what we think is very reasonable for each dog, $25 a piece for a really great shampoo, a really great cut, and nail trims. During the holidays they even put seasonal bows on their collars. Cute! And from me to you, just a tip about tipping... 10 percent is appropriate. read more

I took my sweet little shih tzu puppy for a simple simple trim and they charged me $40! The only special thing was I wanted her feet done like a poodle, as we have a lot of burrs around here. When she was picked up the lady said it was going to be $5 more next time for the feet. She came home depressed and scared and doesn't want to be picked up. Both eyes were bloodshot until the next day, which I assume is from the shampoo. One pad on her foot had been bleeding and and the sides of her face were not trimmed evenly. The hair on her body was uneven too. This place is horrible, but they were recommended by a friend. It looks like their Shih Tzu groomer is good but she was backed up for several weeks. Don't go. The groomer I got was horrible. (I don't know where the pic of my last girl came from which got published with my review,. I didn't post it. She was 14 years old in the photo. I came here with my dog , I have a hunting dog long hears basset ground hound (I think that's the name of the breed ) . I had no appointment , was helped right away . Nice at greeting , just did the basic trimming nails and wash and dry . I was happy with the service when I got home checked my dogs ears inside they where not that clean .. I told her to make sure to clean the ears they do get dirty a lot . Prices are reasonable too . read more

We have been taking Carrot, our long-haired orange tabby cat here since it opened. Shannon worked on him until she moved and Amy has taken over. Carrot loves to roll in pine-tar soaked pine needles and they clean him up. Sometimes I've waited too long between visits and they have to shave him. He doesn't mind (he looks funny). They report on flea-infestation level if that's a problem (we changed meds and it's better now). Carrot is probably 16 or 17 years old and they treat him and us kindly. Great people. read more

This review is LONG overdue! Coco has been going to Artistic Pet Salon since she was 6 months old and now she is 5 years old this year. As soon as she had all her shots I was looking for a great groomer because I knew I wanted my Shih-Tzu to have LONG show coat/hair. Coco started going to Artistic Pet Salon soon after they opened and Laura has been her main groomer ever since. I love her work and Coco comes out fabulous all the time. Coco needs a great groomer who understands her breed and her coat and Laura is very knowledgeable. I used to come religiously once a month but since I live further away Coco sees Laura maybe every other month which really sucks for my poor doggy. The price is great and the service from Laura is excellent. I am sure all the other groomers are great but Coco is used to Laura so that is who she gets groomed by. I have tons and tons of pics after Coco has been groomed and will share them with the yelp community. read more

My dog is terrified of anybody clipping his toe nails....Laura, approached him and took care of him. After a few seconds of struggling and Laura maintaining her professional approach my dog calmed down and allowed her to finish the job. As I found out, owning two Standard Poodles required finding a groomer that could actually do a decent job on these difficult to maintain coats that the Poodles came with. After trying many groomers, I found Artistic Pet Salon. This place is the complete package as far as I'm concerned. From the handoff of my dogs to the very courteous staff to the haircuts/designs that my dogs had when I picked them up was awesome! My female Poodle even had her nails painted pink! Professional from every aspect. Additionally, I found this salon to be very clean, which I cannot say about most others that I have tried in the past. The cost of the grooming, which included ear cleaning and nail clipping, came at a very fair price. My Poodle's are always happy to see Laura when they return to Artostic Pet Salon, which tells me that they are treated well when they are being groomed. I would recommend Artistic Pet Salon to any pet owner. Pet grooming doesn't get any better than this!!! read more

Spectacular service!! From phone, to customer, to grooming, their service was amazing. My Sam came in there with so many knots and a REALLY dirty tail, (I thought she was going to have to shave it off) and instead she combed it all out and was able to save his gorgeous fur!! I have to say I really appreciate the staff of Artistic Pet Salon and entrust my little ones for their grooming needs always. We have 4 dogs, and since they opened their salon on Fruit and Olive we have been fortunate to be able to bring our "kids" to them, often on short notice. One of the dogs is a special needs dog (having gone thru Major back surgery); and her groomer, Amy, has always been gentle and careful with handling her. Amy introduced me to the Blue Wilderness dog food last year, and now I have switched all of the dogs to it. They love it, and I have the peace of mind that they are eating quality food. We were super sad to see Artistic Pet move out of our neighborhood...but we will follow them no matter where they go! It is hard to find animal groomers that you can unconditionally trust, and we feel that with Amy, Laura, and staff! P.S. Nearly every time I have stepped into Artistic Pet, there is at least one poor little stray that one of the groomers has rescued...be it cat or dog. They are very kind-hearted :) read more

My two rescues have been coming to Artistic Pet Salon for years. We love Amy, our groomer, who is just the best at dealing with temperamental doggies. She is wonderful...she takes extra time with my little Mousse, hugging her to calm her down throughout the process so that Mousse ends up happy and looking adorable.(Before we found Amy, my little high-maintenance pup ended up hurting herself while others tried to groom her.) My other dog has a totally different (goofy) personality and also loves Amy. No matter what antics my pups display, Amy handles it...with a smile. Prices are reasonable and the service is great. We bring our dogs 3 of them to this place on a regular basis. First off our dogs love to go there. Second they do a terrific job. We have a short hair a long hair and a haircut dog. So I think it reflects the general skill of the people working there. We are always satisfied to the point that we let them decide what they want to do. To Darah. I am the groomer you were rude with yesterday. I'd like to clear up a few things. You sent your cat in for grooming with a gaping hole in his shoulder and crawling with fleas. Your husband did inform me about the sore before the grooming but not about the fleas. I took alot of care shaving your unhappy kitty because he was overall a very sweet cat. However, like I tried to explain to you when you walked in and started spitting insults at me, your kitty was not happy about having his legs groomed. I even tried to tell you it could be due to the wound and surrounding area being sore. But you cut me off stating that petsmart had told you the same thing before I could even finish my sentence. You requested high boots and I left them long however torturing and wrestling your cat for what you consider perfection is not what I do. I did my best to make you happy with the cut even tho I wanted to throw you out and I even shaved around poor kittys sore again while he hissed, growled and tried his best to pull my hand and the clippers to his mouth. You did apologize but it was insincere and backhanded and I politely explained that I did take offense because I have several cat clients and you seem to be the only one that has ever complained and not understood when your cat didn't co-operate. You then proceeded to go home and call us angry that I didn't dodge your upset cats teeth to wipe out his ears. Maybe you don't understand how fragile ear drums are, but anyways I wasn't about to put your already fed up cat in some submission hold just to wipe out his ears. It took 2 groomers to get thru your cats grooming and normally I would've charged $60 just to do a haircut on a difficult cat, however you were throwing a temper tantrum and I just wanted you to leave so I only charged you $50 with an extra $5 for the flea shampoo. I think it's cute that you believe ALL Persians are mild mannered and non aggressive. Cats are individuals and they all have their own temperaments and personalities. And even the best of cats have bad days just like humans. We, as groomers, do strive for perfection. However, not at the cost of brute force and possible injury to the animal or us. Cat bites are awful, they take forever to heal and come with a high risk of infection. I'd personally rather you be unhappy about the haircut than rough up your cat and have him get knicked or break a tooth trying to bite the clippers. I have to add that I cringed when you left with the cat in your arms (instead of safely in his carrier) onto busy Shields ave. If your cat seems traumatized by his experience at our shop I would point the blame at you for allowing him to get infested with fleas, having an untreated partially scabbed up hole in his shoulder and then taking him to the groomer to be shaved and then holding him close to dangerously fast traffic. For anyone else reading this, we do have safe private parking in the back accessible by alley which I informed the owner of this cat when he came in. Anyways, if you were happy with your previous groomer of I believe you said 8 years, then I encourage you to return there for your future grooming needs. But I also suggest, for Obis sake, that you consider his needs next time before putting him thru this again. Your cat was not matted and he has a beautiful coat and I guarantee he is not the one that wants to look like a lion wearing uggs. read more

I've been getting my dog groomed for at least a year by Jenie and loved her work! But for the past few weeks I couldn't get a hold of any one at Artistic Pet Salon. I called several times but no answer. I left at least 2 or 3 messages but they didn't return my calls so finally I went down their with my small shitsu/poodle in hand and walked in. I ask for Jenie and complained that no ones been answering my calls. I was greeted by a woman who started explaining to me that my groomer Jenie had quit an was taking all her clients with her an that they were not to call her clients but Jenie would call us. I asked why they didn't answer the phone when I was calling an the man behind counter went psycho ballistic! on me screaming at me not to yell at the girl that I was talking to an the girl I was talking to even told him he's not yelling at me. While the psycho is screaming at me to leave I since he's losing his mind and going to do something crazy so I walk out the back door and thru the gate. As I'm getting in my car this guy follows me out all the way to the back gate while calling the cops. I get in my car an get the heck outta their! Now I can see why Jenie quite working their! I will admit I said a couple of choice words back to the nut job! I couldn't help myself. This guys a freak! They never have to worry about me going back their but somebody better worry about that guy! Very unstable! Certainly unprofessional!! What kind of establishment hires people like that? read more

I used to take all 4 of my dogs here and everyone here was great. I got I'll and don't go much of anywhere anymore. My baby toy poodle that used to get groomed here recently passed and I am so devastated.
