Winter has been harsh on my boots but not for long!…read more My precious leather Dolce platform high-heeled boots need to be re-heeled: These are my all-time favorite shoes- they are sexy, they are four and a half inches in the super-slim heel, they are comfortable and I walk like a super-tall supermodel in them (even if I am merely over five feet in stature). The heel was torn off the right, I might have cried. They may need a new insole. They definitely look like they have taken a harsh beating... scratches, scrapes, salt stains... Don't get me started on my suede lace-up knee-high boots- the sole has completely become disconnected from the heel of the boot itself and they need to be re-glued and re-stitched by a pro for waaaay less than the cost of new boots. Not that I want new boots- these are my favorites too and no, can't live without them. A polish, new heel, re-glued sole for a mere $38 in cash (just cash, no cards) will save them from the polar vortex shoe massacre. Conveniently, this is a hop, skip and a jump from my workplace. Also conveniently, they can do same-freaking-day-repair... which I kinda need as I have been putting this off for longer (letting my shoes live under my desk) than is healthy for my feet. Luckily this wonder is nearby to keep my heels on high.

After reading many Yelp reviews, I decided on Gus because of several reasons... 1. They were a quick ride on the 77 from my apartment. 2. They told me it might take up to a couple days, versus the entire week I was quoted from Broadway shoe repair. 3. Great reviews on Yelp. I dropped them off, they said they'd try some things, but may need to dye the shoe which obviously scared the crap of me, but I figured it was either that or toss them. They said it would be $35, but if they didn't have to dye them it would be less and that I could pick them up Tuesday. So I give the shoes, and start heading home. Not even halfway home do I get a call from them saying that they were able to get it out, and that the shoes were drying and would be ready for pickup in half an hour. I went to pick them up and they looked good as new. They had also taken the liberty of waterproofing them for me. And here's the kicker--all of that for only $8. $8 freaking dollars! Recommending them to everyone who has shoe issues--they are the real deal.

When I picked them up, they had stretched across the toe but not the tip of the boot, leaving an ugly nipple. i brought them back, and they said they would fix and deliver to me for my inconvenience. That was early October 2012. Since then, I have been in the shop 6 times. I have been told three times they were in the other shop and will be delivered to me. I have talked to the owner, who promised me delivery. No boots. I have sent two emails. No response. I still don't have my boots, any kind of compensation, or even an apology for this debacle. Not very nice.
