First time reviewing after going here for big occasions for years! I most recently visited for…read moretheir Valentine's Day Craft session and I had such a good time! I made some concrete coasters from scratch while I sipped an espresso martini. The service is prompt, and the specialists are also really kind and knowledgeable. The crafts range from simple to complex, and every craft is very independent! Avoid if you're not into loud noises as the work space is a little small and others and their crafts will be making lots of noise! (Especially the hammer for the leather works!) I've never had a drink here I didn't love, but the espresso martini especially is one of my favorites in the city. Really mellow flavor and very foamy. The Craftery is perfect for bachelorette parties, birthdays, and date nights. Next time skip the fancy dinner and make some concrete coasters instead! Then grab some takeout and enjoy your craft!

Things don't turn out the way my brain envisioned them and I find myself more frustrated than inspired. The shop offers various items to craft and once purchasing the project, the supplies are provided. Long tables fill the space. Drinks and cocktails are available for purchase and you can bring in food or order from nearby restaurants. My recent visit they hosted drag bingo during Pride month. The staff were amazing and kept the drink line reasonable. I also loved their generosity in donating two visits to the bingo winners.

After years of hearing about it, I decided to schedule a retreat weekend at the Abbey of…read moreGethsemani. While you can stop by anytime to hike the trails or visit the giftshop, to stay at the retreat, you need to schedule by email 4 months in advance. There will be a Monk to check you in-and they are very pleasant and provide great service. Regardless if you are religious or not a retreat here will separate you from your normal busy life and give you rest if you need a reset. The retreats are self guided. There is no talking except in specific locations or off grounds. The Monks gather to pray/chant the Psalms 7 times a day. Retreat folks & visitors can but not required to join in. I'd encourage you to check it out and do so. You might fumble a bit at first, but by the end of the weekend you'll have it down. There are also three meals a day served. I arrived on Friday afternoon, checked into my room. It overlooked the graveyard. The room was quiet, clean. I joined the monks for Vespers prayer service at 5:30, then enjoyed dinner, and then we gathered for the Retreat seminar led by Priest. Immediately after, we gathered for Compline prayers, the last service of the day. On Saturday I hiked the grounds, enjoyed the times of Prayers with the monks, and dived into Peter Brown's Biography of St. Augustine, finally finishing it after buying it in 2008. My phone had no data except in the library. It was spectucular. The meals were hot, simple & delirious, the prayers soothing, and honestly, I left feeling more rested and recharged than I had in years. Leave a donation for the monks, buy some items from the giftshop, let the silence and prayer orient you and give you some peace. Can't wait to do it again in November!
