We stayed here for a week while our child was at camp nearby. It is right on route 6 and easy walk in to town for all the fun Ptown has to offer. Uber will come pick you up there too if you don't want drive in and pay for parking. You can walk to the other side of route 6 (use the crosswalk at the corner for safety) and catch a pedi-cab into town, they work on tips only. Our site was small-ish, but since you cannot have a fire, there is no need for more room. We could accommodate our huge tent and our small car and a supplied picnic table. It said it was sold out the whole time we were there but it was mostly overnight-ers that stayed next to us on one side and another week-long campsite on the other. Several sites near us did not have tenants, likely due to the rain. It RAINED (several hours long down pours!) for the first two nights but there was no flooding on the camp at all. Later in the week, a drain truck came to unclog the drains, I suppose in an effort to keep the camp dry during the next rainfall. I thought the shower thing where you pay would be weird but I realized, my shower routine is less than 9 minutes ( the max allowed time at one shot). The showers were clean and when I noticed that it was dirty, I didn't even have to report it and it was sparkling again the next day. The toilets are normal running water toilets but are latrine style, outdoors, covered but it was kind of fun being basically outside using the bathroom. Sink for handwashing is in the gender assigned shower room behind the row of toilets. The folks working in the office were all really nice and friendly. I'm a bit of a curmudgeon but my husband is really nice so they were chatty with him and sort of left me alone; They can really read the room. Would stay again 100% read more

Excellent campground! I stayed here over Labor Day weekend with some friends, and we had a great experience (...other than our neighbors setting their phone alarm for 5:00am and then loudly getting ready for the day, but that's not exactly the campground's fault.) Online reservations were a breeze. Proximity to downtown Provincetown is great. The guy working the front desk was super super friendly and helpful. The women's bathroom and the showers were nice and clean. One thing to note: per regulations set by the town of Provincetown, campfires are not allowed. Propane stoves are A-OK, though. read more

Great campground for the following reasons: 1. Easy access to showers and toilets, which are clean and well lit. Showers are very cheap...25 cents/3 min with hot water!. Honestly some of the best facilities I have ever seen while camping. 2. Easy access to P-town and beaches. Staff happy to point out bike rentals, kayak rentals, anything you may need in the area! 3. Friendly staff, well equipped office with any gear or toiletries you may have forgotten. Yummy coffee for $1 - fabulous deal in the morning. Also, they had wireless at the office and it was easy to sit outside to do laptop work. 4. Very friendly people staying at the campgrounds, many regulars and people staying for long periods. This means not a ton of crazy college kids who want to party all night. The 10 PM quiet hours are observed and there was very little noise at night. We stayed for three nights and had a great time. The area is beautiful, the sites were nice, we had easy access to water and the facilities, and could get it to town quickly. BEACH TIP: If you take the trail to the beach, ask for directions first! The trail is not well marked and there are a few forks. It is hard to see the trail once you hit the sandy dunes and I think we followed the wrong footprints. Spent a good amount of time wandering in the dunes before finding the beach!! A good workout, but got a bit hot! CAMPGROUND STYLE: mix of RV/tents, families and young couples. You park at your site. It is not exactly rustic, but you can make it as simple or extravagant as you want. We had a small tent. Period. Others had the works, like something out of the Quidditch World Cup (any HP fans?) read more

Just wanted to update: staff is EXCELLENT! Friendly, helpful, on point and determined to make sure everyone is respected. Not sure what is going on with reviews that staff is unfriendly, but I have never known them to be anything but. We stayed again, my previous review stands, same old lovely place -- though we did have a mama raccoon and her young visit, as well as a wild turkey stroll by, first time we've seen wildlife other than mosquitos there. This is a great campground for families but not a great campground for a group of friends. The map of the campground that they provide on the website makes the campsite look much larger than it actually is. In reality, every single campsite is right next to each other. I booked a campsite that looked like it was isolated from the other sites, but you could see eight other sites from it. Our nearest neighbor was 10 feet away. If you plan to go to bed at 10 PM, this place is for you. However, if you plan on staying awake and chatting, this is not the place for you - even a whisper can be heard by the whole campsite. If you plan on going out in P town and coming back after a night of drinking, this place is not for you. The grounds expect complete silence after 10 PM. To the staff of Dunes Edge, please read draw your map! The campground is so small, the campsites are so close to each other, and the map that you provide is utterly deceptive and inaccurate. read more

I'm not sure what other people expected in a campground, but this place exceeded mine. The grounds were well tended, the staff was pleasant and helpful, and the setting could not be more picturesque. Sandwiched between the most beautiful rolling dunes your eyes will ever see, and the perfect village of Provincetown, this campground is the perfect place to stay at the end of the Cape. Save money, experience nature, but still get the amenities of a hot shower (the pressure was good and for a quarter, you get 3 minutes, which I think is reasonable) dish cleaning stations (slight walk from the nicer sites but, hey! you're camping for god's sake) and a nice little camp store (bagels and coffee every morning and you're bound to forget something - they might have it there). Scout out your site, some are better than others, and try and be contentious of other campers during your stay. It isn't the campground's fault that people can sometimes be the problem! read more

I can say nothing but great things about this campground! I just got back from 3 days there. Our area was spacious (space for single or two small tents plus one car). The bathrooms were clean and functioning well. Someone cleaned them everyday. The neighbors were friendly. The staff made rounds through out the day, not much to say but were visible. Since there are no ground fires allowed, we brought a tiny weber grill and no one had any complaints - neighbors or staff. There was plenty of place for refuse and recycling. I would definitely advise bringing a bicycle as the town is very close but car-congested. Also you can get to the beach by bike and won't have to pay the $12 or $15 per car :) Some sites are less private than others. I wouldn't advise any sites on a corner. Can't wait for my next trip there! read more

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. You can't beat the proximity to Cape Cod National Seashore. We rode our bikes from the campground to the bike trail twice, which was a highlight of our visit. The women's toilets were clean enough, but I was baffled by the state of the shower room. It was dirty. My husband said the men's urinals were in the shower room, and they had not been cleaned in a while. The campground is packed, so the showers should be cleaned twice daily. Quiet time begins at 10, and for the most part it was quiet. There is nothing anyone can do about loud talkers and screaming children at 7 a.m., however. That's the luck of the draw when you camp. And we've all experienced noisy neighbors even in hotels! This would be a gem of a spot if they would take the time to clean the showers regularly! read more

Dune's Edge is a wooded campground, owned and managed by the Trustees of Reservations. We rented a simple campsite with electric power, and it was very spacious and clean. We easily fit (2) 4 person tents, plus our SUV. There was also a spacious picnic table, and we were able to fit a few folding chairs. With all this, it was still very comfortable. This campground has a quiet policy after 10:00 PM, and it is a very quiet campground. I only wish they allowed wood campfires, but they do allow charcoal grills. They have a bathroom with simple shower stalls that you have to pay for. There weren't any paper towels, nor an air dryer. The staff here was very friendly, and this campground is not too far from gas stations, convenience stores, and the downtown P-Town scene. We had a great time here, and I would definitely stay here again. read more

Just back from two nights at Dunes' Edge. I've never camped on the Cape before, so perhaps that's why I was a little disappointed with this trip. Summary: If you are looking to commune with nature and savor the birdsong, this isn't your place. If you want a cheap place to overnight, bring earplugs and take advantage of the proximity to P-Town and beaches. The good: The campground was pretty clean, the people were friendly and the muffins were good. The bad: The nice view from our site (#80) was overshadowed by the constant sound of high speed traffic from Rt. 6. The sound of trucks and cars was quite loud (I could barely hear the birds!) and it was never ending - even overnight. I honestly felt like we were camping in a rest stop on the Mass Pike. Sites further in to the campground were better, but I could still hear traffic, even at the farthest campsite. Individual sites are generally small, with limited ground cover or trees between them. There were a good number of people who appear to stay for an extended time, spreading out any number of tents and clotheslines and hammocks - the result of which was 1) I imagine it looks a little like an old fashioned gypsy caravan and 2) you'd better like your neighbors and not be a particularly private person. (Site #80 and the sites adjacent were on the larger side and had better privacy.) The bathrooms were rustic, but fine for camping. I didn't try the showers, but they also seemed fine. We had two kids under the age of 10, and I thought it felt very family friendly - with one exception: because the sites were so close, I felt like I had to keep telling them to quiet down. While technically you could walk to P-Town or the beach, if you aren't in shape or have small kids, you'll want to drive or bike. The trail to the beach was lovely, but a handful of trail markings or signs would be awesome. I was getting a very Blair Witch Project vibe after we'd been walking for a while without getting any closer to a beach. With kids in tow, we abandoned the trek - I'm sure the beach is there...we just never found it. It's a very short drive to Race Point beach, which was beautiful, and parking in late afternoon is free -sunset is beautiful there. Pro Tip: We arrived at Race Point before 9 am and also parked for free, since there was no one manning the parking shack. read more

After making our reservation for a 3-night stay at this campground, we happened across a review on another site that called it the worst experience ever, characterized the staff as surly and called the campground "the Prison of Provincetown." We were understandably terrified. What we found was a staff that was incredibly nice and helpful. The sites are campsites. You can't burn a wood fire, but you can bring a grill or camp stove. The other campers were friendly and courteous. It was a very inclusive place, too, with young families, kids as well as couples of all ages and gender configurations. The showers and facilities were basic but clean and well-kept. Bring a stack of quarters for the shower. The coin-operated shower was my only disappointment, but it was more than offset by the appearance at 8 a.m. every morning of really tasty coffee at the camp store along with freshly baked muffins that were still warm in the center. I've never been to prison, but I'm guessing they don't serve homeade cranberry muffins. read more

The staff is disgusting. They have shower stalls that u pay by the coin. My friend still has some water left from the 75 cents he paid so he said I can take over. Now they have this creepy guy that monitors the stalls. He was insinuating that we showered together and kicked us out of the campgrounds at 10:30pm. We begged the manager as we have nowhere to go and all hotels are booked but she wouldn't budge. It's disgusting. Also note: this creepy guy walks around and checks the inside of you're tents while you sleep. Well if you don't mind that, go ahead. read more

We were quite disappointed, especially for a Trustee's of Reservations property. We've been to other Trustees properties and tend to hold them in high regard. While they don't allow campfires, we knew that going into it and planned accordingly. For us the lack of a campfire means going to bed earlier rather than later, but unfortunately that was not the case for many other campers. We heard people coming and going at all hours, slamming cars doors, setting up their sites, and generally being disruptive well past the 10 pm quiet time. A big part of the problem is that the sites are small with little to no buffer between them. The map is quite deceptive in this regard. We also suspect that another contributing factor is the close proximity to the nightlife of downtown Provincetown and people using the campground as a less expensive alternative or overflow for other lodging. On the positive side they allow dogs, the front office cabin has a small general store for various items you may have neglected to bring, and the staff is friendly. But that is all little consolation for not getting a good night's sleep. Also worth noting, the map doesn't reflect it but the topography is quite hilly and some campsites have a propensity for flooding during heavy rain. Be sure to look around and prepare accordingly if rain is forecast. There really should be some sort of notation on the map for sites that are flood prone. While five stars might be unobtainable given the limitations of the land they have to work with, they could definitely do better by enforcing quiet hours and updating their map. read more

I had never camped on Cape Cod and really wanted to stay overnight on spur of the moment. I called Dunes Edge and they gave me a great campsite in a beautiful part of their grounds. I had a few neighbors that pulled in late and they were quiet... and I don't think any campground can possibly screen for bad campers up front, so it's an honor system wherever you go. The campsite has great maps, easy to navigate at night, very clean shower/bath, in beautiful area. I will visit them again They are located within walking distance of downtown Provincetown, but you need to walk about 500 ft along interstate 6 to get to it... I had a powerful flashlight and didn't have any issues doing this. Cab service also gets you to Dune easily ($5 into downtown Ptown) read more

I really feel that the campground is not very good for larger RVs. Very tight and not roomy at all. We had a very bad experience with our Class C on site 22. They only have 15 sites for big RVs. The guy had to cut a pretty big limb off a tree to accommodate us fitting in the spot and he had a bad attitude to top it off. Also it rained hard one night and the very small tent sites across from us were flooded with a huge slow draining puddle! They really need to fix that. Showers were ok, but been to better. We thought site had access to bike trails right from it but it doesn't. We won't be going there again. Got a permit for ORV to stay right on race point beach and that was million times better. :-) read more

These folks are trying hard to make this place work. The sites are small and scrubby but it is clean and safe and quiet at night. It is also within walking distance of the town and bike paths. The one BIG problem is a VERY prevalent septic smell that permeates all the sites surrounding the bathrooms. We rented site 57 last weekend. It was beautiful weather with very little wind and humidity, and I am not super sensitive to weird smells. The stench was so pervasive we opted to go out to dinner (very expensive in PTOWN) rather than try and cook at the site. Look at the map before you book and make sure you are NOT bordering one of the bathrooms! Also PS - they don't serve coffee til 8am which is too late for me! Campers rise early! Pull in, drop your gear, set up your tent, hop on your bikes and head for the beach. Centrally located and easy biking distance to everything in P'town. The sites are small, even tiny, but it's quiet at night. The coin-operated showers are reliable, the bathrooms immaculate, the staff friendly and helpful. Great place to pitch your tent. read more

I made the reservations with no problems. Two days before we left for our stay I read the reviews and thought I made a huge mistake. I was ready for the worst. I never write reviews but felt like I need to because there are too many bad ones here for Dunes' Edge. I found the camp ground clean, the staff friendly and very accommodating. We had a problem with our camper and they let us borrow some tools and recommend a mechanic in town that helped us quickly. We met very friendly campers with kids from the US and Canada. Everyone was happy with their stay and the accommodations. We talked with stright and gay couples with kids. There are no wood fires allowed and lights out and quiet at a normal evening time. I would go back anytime. Great place for kids! read more

I would like to thank everyone who camped with us this past season. As you can see by some of the reviews below we did have an issue with our newly installed septic systems. These systems are designed to treat the sewage before anything is leached back into the soil. As we found out, the systems depend on a steady rate of flow through the system. Unfortunately, in a campground situation, Heavy water use occurs twice a day. Two hours in the morning and three hours in the evening. This uneven flow does not allow the system to treat the sewage properly causing odors to escape. We have been working with the engineers and system experts and have come up with a solution. We will install an extra pump in the tanks that will regulate the flow over the course of the day which will allow the bacteria in the system to do its job properly. And we will move the venting stacks from the horizontal to the vertical and bury them under ground. They will be covered with stone and wood chips to further filter any odors that may escape. I am confident that the problems with odor that occurred last season will not reoccur. I would like to thank all of the Dunes Edge regulars for their support over this past season and I hope to see you all again this summer. We stayed at Dune's Edge last weekend after taking the ferry from Boston. The camp ground is very clean and has medium-sized sites, which were perfect for us. We were there after Labor Day and only about 1/4 of the sites were taken, so it was pretty quiet. The sites are shaded and all have picnic tables. The owners were very friendly and allowed us to store our luggage for the day, so we wouldn't have to carry it around till our ferry left that evening. The off-season rate (post Labor Day) was $35 per night. We were able to bring our dog along. The camp ground is only a 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal. A short part of that walk is along route 6, which does not have a pedestrian path, but does have a wide shoulder. I recommend bringing a head lantern or a flash light, if you plan to do that walk at night. Pedicabs will take you to Route 6, but are not allowed to go on the highway. We had a great time and would definitely go back and recommend this camp ground to our friends. read more

Our second time here. Last year we had the exact same luck with weather as this year - gorgeous days sandwiching a torrential downpour. Last year our site flooded terribly. Tents, too. This despite the (prohibited but necessary) trenching to divert water flow - site 57, by the way. This year we brought all the supplies I ran out to get last year from the nearby hardware store the morning of the huge storm, as well as some landscaping edging, which did the trick. We can deal with weather - that's camping - but were sorely disappointed by the noise level in adjacent and farther sites. Noise carries exceedingly well here. I waked all the way to the office twice one night, around midnight, in pitch black darkness, and complained about a specific site with, apparently, 2 families, a dog, and a sick baby only a few months old. (The dog was the quietest.) We love babies, but screaming at 2 and 4 am more than 2 consecutive nights and someone should have advised the party that there was a basic problem of consideration not compatible with campground etiquette. The security gentleman I complained to about the group's noisy late night group dinner party did nothing. For $49 a night I fully expect proactive and attentive night staff. Regardless, we will be back. The day staff are helpful as can be - even provided a battery to help jump start our car one morning - and the proximity to the beautiful bike paths and town is just fantastic. The biggest improvement would be to provide a safer roadside access to bike trails. Biking or walking back to the campground against traffic on Route 6 is not for the faint hearted. read more

"Dune's Edge" is just the first misconception about this 'family owned campsite.' It is on an interstate impossible to navigate on bikes with small children despite its two mile proximity to Provincetown and the beach. $52/night for tent camping should at least buy some free showers and perhaps some dispensable soap, but for the frosty, disgruntled, misinformed and unhelpful staff, overcharging everything from ice to morning coffee seems too easy. Charcoal fires only are allowed, but there are no fire pits provided in which to place your own charcoal. You must bring a grill with you. The biggest offense is that campsites are assigned. We had no choice where to set up camp, and on a Thursday night, with many open spaces throughout, we were assigned to a site on what seemed like a campground thruway. Toilets and sinks are separated by doors and partitions, so there is not a convenient way to wash hands after using the toilet (especially since there is no soap). The partitions offer no privacy between toilets and the sink/shower area and the men and womens' bathrooms are co-joined. I suppose it makes sharing quarters for the shower all the easier for family members....... Go somewhere else. read more

Great camp site with very kind and helpful staff. The forest was beautiful and it is such a short walk/bike ride to ptown. I had a great time here but it is in my opinion way too expensive. Talk about supply and demand. I payed $40 per night with a 3 night minimum. read more

The campground is nice. It's in an amazing location if you want to see the heart of Provincetown without having to pay as much as would be to stay in a hotel. It was a little pricey for camping, but I imagine that it was due to the location. I have never been to a campground that doesn't allow fires. The bathrooms were clean, but there wasn't anything to dry your hands. You had to pay a quarter to take a shower which was't too bad unless you forgot your quarter. The showers had hot water and were pretty nice though. I also loved that they had a recycling center by the bathrooms, too! I would definitely stay at this campground again. read more

Worst camping experience ever, it's definitely "the Prison of Provincetown." The staff is very rude, they treat you like animals with no respect. You have no ability do do anything in the campground.. no wood fires allowed, no onsite grills, no socializing, showers/bathrooms are discussing, the whole campsite is very unpleasant.
