This was a while back. I wouldn't go there again. The place is unkempt and dusty/dirty. I asked if something could be repaired and he started doing it without even asking if he could fix it or how much it would be. I thought, oh, ok, an easy fix. When I asked how much it'd be, he asked me what I thought the repair would be worth. It was quick and an old junky piece from a thrift store. When I answered he laughed at me and said I'm living in the past. He demanded cash and pointed to a sign in the mess that said the minimum. I got took. Go to Art's if you need turntable repair. Today I brought in a Pioneer PL-518x that needed service. Art is a gentleman that knows his craft and does it well. The turntable had never been serviced - it had cobwebs in it... it was bad. Art took great care to thoroughly clean it out and lubricate the appropriate parts. He then replaced the stock RCA cables with heavy gauge cables - it will sound much better now. Art tested after reassembly and the turntable holds pitch just fine. Next we'll mount an Ortofon 2m Red. Art was very personable from the time I called to the time I dropped off my older LG plasma. After taking a quick look at the issue, he said it needed some kind of board replacement as the power didn't turn on anymore. He gave me a decent quote and told me it should take about 30 minutes to fix. He told me he was 90% sure he could fix it and told me to hang out in the nearby shops while he repaired it. He called me after 15 minutes and told me it was good to go. I asked him to show me how it works now and he was more than willing to show me.
