Iriene is the most incredible cake maker around! She is able to take the vision you have and put it to reality! I did a surprise SUPERMAN grooms cake for my husband and it came out better than I ever imagined! She was able to print old school comics onto the frosting and make the cake truly come alive! Not only did it look fantastic, but oh my God it was so delicious!!! Iriene was flexible, responsive, helpful and a lot of fun to work with! I definitely recommend Artylicious Cakes to anyone who is in need of a memorable and delicious experience!!!

I ordered a cake for my daughters baby shower and Artylicious blew our expectations out of the water! Great communication, quick turn around and amazing tasting cake! The decorations were so adorable and my daughter was incredibly impressed with the design. Thank you! Will order again in the future

Iriene Wangsawidjaja impressed me upon my arrival for her cake critique. She presented me with three mini-cakes decorated to an extent only reserved for truly special occasions. The first cake was a beautiful three layer cake called "Forgiven but not forgotten." It was made from egg yolks and is an Indonesian recipe. I have to admit, an egg yolk cake did not sound appealing, but once tasted, I fell in love with it. The cake was moist and had a chocolate/slightly mocha flavor to it. The outside of the cake was equally impressive, as it was pink fondant with The Cake Critic performing critiques at a table full of cupcakes. :) The second cake was coffee cake. Beautifully decorated on the outside as a cup of coffee--only not in an everyday ordinary mug. This mug was a peacock, full of hand painted colorful feathers. IMPRESSIVE to say the least! Beautiful decorations, delicious cake, one which I would definitely place an order for in the future. The last cake was a peach mango cake, a new recipe. It had raspberry jam and fresh raspberries in the middle with buttercream and the outside was decorated as a gift. This cake was interesting--not too sweet, not overly moist but the jam and fruits soaked it a bit, making it a very interesting combination of taste and texture. It was very enjoyable not only to me, but to my husband, who scarfed down the rest of the cake once I brought it home. Ai Cakes is going places in the Raleigh area. Mark my word. Iriene will make it happen. She is a perfectionist in cake decorating and belongs with the best of the best.

Take your business elsewhere. We expressed very clearly through texts and photos that our daughter was turning 4 and that we wanted a #4 on the cake. We went for pick up a few hours before the party and the owner had put a #2 instead of a #4 on our $200 cake. She tried removing the #2 and replacing it with a ugly looking star last minute, which we had to accept. When we asked for a discount off she blamed us! She said that in the small print of the digital invoice, she had written in #2, and that it was our fault for not correcting the mistake she made on her invoice! Unbelievable. She just incessantly refused to take responsibility or apologize at all. I am an extremely busy working man. I do not have time to read through fine print on a cake invoice. Like most, I simply click and pay. Nonetheless, even if I did read it, it's not my responsibility to catch her mistakes, especially since she was given very clear instructions. I will post a picture of my texts to her clearly saying we need a #4 on the cake. Find someone else, this lady is no good.

Detailed work on a small tall cake (enough to feed 8).

A fantastic place to get any kind of cake...she does extremely detailed work and the cake itself is delicious. I had the pumpkin spice made into a birthday cake and it came out so good; she put fondant over the icing and cake. She can make large cakes but I asked for a small tall one and it was perfect size enough for 8 people (about the size of a small pizza). When I went in and told them I wanted to order a cake, the husband (it's a husband wife operation) set out four types of cake for me to choose from and let me taste them all. THAT is customer service!!! Their macaroons are great (hazelnut, coffee, and she even claims she has bacon ones). They also have cupcakes, turnovers, cookies (chocolate chip and snickerdoodle on the day I went), and cheesecake.

Cake made by Artylicious for a second birthday party. It was amazing and even better than I could have imagined.

I love Artylicious cakes! I had enjoyed a couple of her cakes previously at a couple of birthday parties a friend hosted. I was looking for a decorated cake for my son's second birthday and asked who my friend had used... her cakes were always so beautiful and delicious. She pointed me to Iriene at Artylicious. I checked out her website and sent her an email to see if she could design a cake for the birthday party. Iriene was quick to respond and welcomed me to come in to sample some cakes. She reviewed my inspiration pictures and said she could definitely make the cake I was looking for. I stopped by her shop one day and was greeted by her immediately. We talked about the cake I wanted (a two tier cake decorated in a Thomas the Tank Engine theme). I didn't have a specific design in mind but gave vagueish directions and left the rest to her. She quoted me a very reasonable price for the cake. It consisted of an 8" base and a 6" top tier. Both fully decorated with fondant and two different flavors in each level. I sampled a few of her cakes and was instantly in love. They reminded me of the cakes that I would get at Asian bakeries back in California. A light, spongy cake with a French buttercream frosting... not to sweet but so light and heavenly. I couldn't get enough. For the larger base piece I ordered cookies n' cream as it would be serving the majority of the party. The top tier was purely selfish... almond with a mocha buttercream. That flavor would be the most similar to the cakes I enjoyed back in California and had yet to find here. The week before the party I checked in with Iriene and she was ready to go. She worked with me on the pickup/delivery of the cake and reassured me that it would be exactly what I wanted. When I received the cake, it was even better than I could have imagined. My party guests raved about it, saying it was the most beautiful cake they had seen for a birthday party. When they tried it? People went back for seconds. They couldn't decide which they liked better between the two flavors. I hoarded some of the almond/mocha for myself. I would absolutely use Artylicious again for all of my cake and party needs, and am already planning the next occasion for when I can book her. Oh and she does sell some cakes by the slice, as well as French macarons. All are delicious and a way to get a slice of the amazing goodies in between your parties.

Iriene is an amazing baker..We had 2 baby shower events and she made 2 cakes for us.. She made them to the perfection.. Cakes were too adorable... We got so many compliments on the taste for both of the cakes.. Thank you Iriene for both cakes.. Our guests loved both of them

Beach wedding cake for 50! White almond cake with orange creme and raspberry filling! Delicious!

Iriene did an excellent job on a wedding cake for around 50 guests. I was in a crazy hurry to and only gave her 2 weeks notice about the cake, and I needed to transport it 5 hours to Charleston for the wedding myself. She was so helpful and made sure the cake was stable so I wouldn't have any trouble driving it down and the frosting was still immaculate when we made it down there. It was a beach wedding so we went with a beach theme. At the last minute, my mom decided she wanted to put washed shells on the top of the cake. The cake itself was a white almond cake with orange creme and raspberry filling. The entire thing got eaten and everyone love love LOVED it! Can't recommend her enough.

Love love love Artilyscious. I was able to present Artilyscious with an idea I had for celebrating a life event. Their interpretation and artistic construction of my idea was spot on. What they produced was so much more than I could have asked for. The cake itself was light and airy. So delicious. Highly recommended.

The macarons were great...a bit heavy but good nonetheless...and very interesting flavors like cardamom and bubblegum flavors.

The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and the staff was pleasant from the moment we walked in. Even during breakfast hours, there wasn't a long wait. The shop itself is beautiful. There's an antique cash register near the counter that adds so much character, and I love that the menus are handwritten. Their merchandise is really cute, and they also make gourmet marshmallows. Everything in the case looks and tastes gourmet and made from scratch. They even offer wedding cakes. My total for breakfast for myself and coworker came to $18, which I found very reasonable. The iced Americano was strong in the best way. You can actually taste the espresso, and it didn't taste watered down or cheap at all. The only downside is that they don't serve whipped cream for iced coffee. The almond croissant was perfect. Sweet and buttery on the inside, crunchy on the outside with that lightly crisp, sugary layer that gives i texture. It was balanced and done just right. Overall, a solid breakfast spot with quality pastries and great pricing. I'd definitely stop in again.

The service is great and relatively quick, and everyone I've met there is kind and willing to help. Little did I know Cupcake Stop Shop had quietly opened, tucked away in an indoor area of multi-vendors in Moore Square. I noticed they were listed as a vendor at the upcoming Yelper party, and finding myself in the area for First Friday, I eagerly pounced on a preview. It's a tiny and unassuming shop -- in many ways it feels like it's still growing into its decor and intended atmosphere. But the cheery tower cupcake display on the right and the filled cases at the cashier counter both pulled me in. I ended up with a half-dozen flavors (spurred on by the huge variety, as well as a Yelp deal!) and a couple of cake truffles (think: mini cake balls). The owner is incredibly nice and personable, and I have to credit her with having both the creativity and dedication to churn out so many different varieties... a definite strength of this shop. But I feel I'm becoming a bit of a cupcake snob -- as you may gather from my lengthy, growing list of cupcake reviews -- and there were a few things that fell short for me with these... size-wise, they are more petite than most, but I think that the reasonable price reflects this. The main fault with the cupcakes is in the sweetness. I know some will call me crazy: It's a cupcake -- of course it's sweet! But I think mastering the cupcake (and flavors like Chocolate Covered Strawberry) is all about mastering the balance of the flavors of the cake, the filling, the icing, and the chocolate drizzle. Instead of getting a harmonious blend of tangy strawberry, creamy whipped topping, sweet yet summery cake, chocolate bitters, I just felt like I got a lot of sugar. And this was true of most of the flavors. Of the bunch, my favorite was definitely the Snickerdoodle (in which the cinnamon really offset the cake nicely), followed by the Banana Puddin (a close taste resemblance of the traditional). I did think the cake truffles were winners -- fudgy, rich chocolate on the inside, and a light white chocolate candy coating on the outside... but they are quite small. Turn 'em in to fuller-sized cake balls, and they'd be irresistible to this sweet tooth!
