While visiting family, we stopped in to pick up dessert, but unfortunately left disappointed. We ordered three slices of cake ($10.99 each) and a cupcake for $4.99. Given the price point, we were expecting something a bit more elevated. We tried the carrot cake, triple chocolate, and banana pudding cake. Each had a very thick layer of frosting, and overall the flavor and texture reminded us more of a boxed mix than a freshly made bakery product. Think Duncan Hines flavor and frosting. I heard rave reviews about this place on social media, so I decided to give them a try while I was in town. The cashier was friendly and informative, especially after she found out I was visiting from out of town. They're in a quiet, easily accessible location and they have a TON of sweet treats to choose from. It was SO hard for me to decide, so I just sent with the sweet potato pound cake. It was a decent-sized slice and really tasty. BUT...coming from southern California where EVERYTHING is overpriced...literally EVERYTHING ...I felt this cake slice was way overpriced. I paid the added tax + gratuity as well. So my final total was almost $14...for ONE slice of cake. Seems like catering and event orders are their specialty. That might explain the price point? I'm not sure. The selections were visually aesthetic and the slice I had was tasty...just...not a reasonable price-point in my opinion. At this rate...a full pound cake would be well-over $150. That's madness! I made it a goal to support only Black-Owned businesses on this trip. This woman is serving up heaven in every bite! First off, I think this woman is so extremely friendly and welcoming. She greeted me like I was a friend even though this was my first time walking into the store and was so kind while talking with me. She was patient with me whole I decided which of her amazing cupcakes I was going to take home with me. I decided on 3 cupcakes (Wednesdays are buy 2 get 1 free), 2 slices of cakes, and a house made lemonade. I ordered a banana pudding, blue velvet, and strawberry shortcake cupcake. Then the banana pudding and strawberry lemonade cake slice. There is so much love and flavor in each of these items that I can't even accurately describe to you how delicious they are. I saw this place on IG, since I was in the area I decided to check them out. I ordered a couple of different cupcakes(carrot cake, strawberry crunch and red velvet), slice of cake (blue velvet) and a chocolate pie that was on special. My children and I weren't really fans of any of the cupcakes or the cake slice but the pie was good. Even though me and my kids weren't feeling the items, I will say the customer service was good. Madame B's piqued my interest when I saw her on the news. I made my way over on a Friday afternoon. The bakery was empty, as I was the only customer. The bakery was clean, with nice Valentin's decor. I felt a warm welcome and kindness from the person who assisted me. I came for the Red Velvet. While there, I could not resist adding the banana pudding since it was recommended. I also got the cinnamon roll cupcake. I enjoyed my red velvet cake taste as the texture was how I liked it - smooth, soft, and creamy sweet icing - I assume cream cheese. As a true southern belle, I prefer BP warm (the Southern way). I come from a cooking family (very good cooks), so I'm not easily impressed. I enjoyed the BP chilled, surprisingly but was taken aback because I could not see bananas. BP is something I've never ordered from a bakery, so I found out this was standard. My sister enjoyed the cinnamon roll cupcake as well. Overall, the service and all the desserts I tried were delicious. The desserts are very rich, so I could not finish anything in one sitting. 3/17/23: VERY DISAPPOINTED! I heard of this place by following Chimetime on Facebook/IG. He's a food blogger & had mostly good things to say about this place. That along with their Yelp rating had me go out of my way today to try them out today. I was so excited to try them!! The lady at the counter was very nice. They had a good flavor selection of cake slices and cupcakes. I settled on 3 cake slices in lemon pound cake, Triple Chocolate, & Banana Pudding flavors. I couldn't wait to dig in, but I held it together until I got off of work. I let my boyfriend try his banana pudding cake first. Disappointment #1!!! It was dry but had good flavor. He gave it a 3.5/5. Next, was the Triple Chocolate. OMG!! It was so dry and tasted old/stale. Disappointed yet again. Lastly, we tried the lemon pound cake. It was moist and the flavor was good. I'd give that a 4/5. To have paid $9 a piece for these cake slices, I expected MUCH better. $30 for stale/dry cake slices is unacceptable. As much as I love cake, I will probably never come here again. I would've been better off going to the store to buy the ingredients to make my own cakes. I'm sure I would've come out cheaper too. If you've got a sweet tooth, Madame B's dessert bar is for you! Upon entering, I was greeted with a huge smile and the smell of sweet treats! I didn't know where to start, so I ordered just about one of everything. I first tried the cinnamon roll cupcake which was good. The icing was a bit too sweet, but the cake was everything and more! After that I tried the banana pudding and let me tell you. It was top 2, and not number two. Lastly, I took a bite of this humongous biscoff cookie and that was more of my speed. Hands-down, one of the best bakeries in town. We stumbled upon Madame B's bakery after seeing her on television and hearing about her on social media. She truly has one of the best cakes in town and there's no denying it wants to try it. She has a very friendly staff and truly has a gift for baking. I've learned a lot since going to this location about Madame B's. She really has a passion and a gift for baking and she loves seeing people. Enjoy the products that she creates. This is a lovely family ran establishment in a great location. If you get a moment, don't drive by, but stop in and grab some cake. I would recommend trying the red velvet cake and also get the Keylime cake. The Keylime is to die for! The bakery isn't to blame completely because I'm sure the delivery driver wasn't super careful but the bakery could have packaged them better to avoid that. I love that the cupcakes are topped with other treats - its like getting two desserts in one. My favorite with the red velvet cupcake with the brown and chocolate drizzzle on top! Key lime isn't usually a flavor that I would order, but I tried them and they were delicious. I came in on a super busy day as there was a line outside the door and the case was empty. I didn't mind waiting at all. The staff was super nice and accommodating, however, the menu that day was very limited. I ended up getting a chocolate cupcake and a strawberry cake slice. The cupcake was good and moist. The cake slice was ok, the edges were a little hard, which I didnt expect since they had just brought it out. The slice was also small for it to be 8.99. I will definitely go back again, maybe on a week day, in hopes for more options. I don't know if I went to the wrong Madame B's because the ambiance was not bright and cheery like other reviews have stated. The Service was very lack luster as well. I went on a regular Saturday excited to try this place as I've seen it all over IG and TikTok but the selection was lacking there weren't many choices. The lady who did help me seemed agitated and hurried. It's a very small shop and nothing to go out of your way to visit. The only reason I'll give this place 3 stars is because my Cupcake that I paid $5 for was very good not good enough to pay $5 for a singular cupcake a SECOND time though. A regular slice of cake here is roughly $11. I get it but in this economy ... they're really gonna have to figure out how to keep people coming back. read more
