After Armor Roofing remodeled the beam structure and installed skylights, Refined Painting patched the new interior two-beam sets with "mud" and paint to make each one of them appear like single white smooth textured beams. They also textured a portion of a wall that needed attention after a roof leak. They did a flawless job with multiple coats of priming, patching and painting the beams and returned a couple weeks latter to sand, "mud" and repaint a few small bubbles that arose in the curing process. The crew really is refined in their craft which goes way beyond painting. I was impressed by reading the 5 star reviews on Yelp and contacted Axel & Aaron Painting. We sent photos of the job to Kimberly (as requested) first, and received thier verbal quote from her. Since we hadn't met in-person and the quote was just verbal off of the photos, we wanted to meet them at our rental property to review the scope of work. My husband and I met at our rental property with the two owners, Pedro and Kimberly, and all went well. My husband spent considerable time with Pedro discussing the prep work needed. We felt comfortable proceeding, and even told them about our next job, in hopes that they could also do that (if all went well). But on Day 1 things did not go well. Two workers came to pressure wash, but Pedro was never onsite. The workers were done and left within 2 hours, before we could get back to the rental to see the work. It's a large deck and large porch with raijlings, and we found many areas had been missed, so we called them to let them know right away. My husband sent them photos as well showing the mildew and dirty areas that still needed more pressure washing (see some of the photos). We expected Pedro would of course want to come back out himself that afternoon, or the next day, Day 2, since the prep and painting wasn't going to start until Day 3, so there was still time. Kimberly, after receiving the photos, was dismissive and told us by phone "this is normal and those areas can just be sanded before painting". You cannot sand away, or paint over the mold/mildew they left behind. I think it would likely have taken 1 hour more of pressure washing and they would stay on track to start prep and paint/stain on Day 3 (the second day of work) but there was no response or assurance from Pedro it would be addressed. That evening they sent the bid with an extra $300 add-on for the "option" of two colors "IF" we were to decide to paint the railings white. This was the first and only written proposal, and it seemed fair, so we were still ready to proceed. We just needed confirmation from Kimberly, or a callback from Pedro that they would come back to finish the missed areas since. There was no still no reply. Instead, the next morning, we got an email as follows: "Unfortunately, we won't be able to complete your staining project as planned. As we mentioned before, pressure wash was completed. Sorry we couldn't meet your expectations.". This is very unprofessional and caused us (and our tentants) a huge inconvenience. We saw RED FLAGS, and we were beginning to question if we should go any further with them. I am certain the quality would have been shoddy.

Back in May 2016, I decided to use Paulson Painting to paint my formal dining room/living room, and…read morea very tall stairwell. For the interior work, I supplied the paint, for I was playing around with different shades, trying to match my couch, and also the faint colors on the wallpaper in the dining room. I was in awe watching Matt use a roller that extended further than I had ever seen before. The line between the accent wall and the wall paper was very straight, as was the ceiling lines, for I had a different paint on the ceiling than on the walls. I used Sherwin Williams Duration paint on the walls, for I was told this was a very good paint that would last for years. They did 2 coats, and waited to do the 2nd coat. A couple of areas one of the painters did where my husband tried to patch up due to settling didn't come out as I expected. After Kevin returned from vacation, he did come out to correct these areas. Since Matt and Andrew did such a good job, I hired this company again for my exterior work in September. (The exterior of my house was painted just 5 years ago, but all the trim was peeling, and I had several boards that were rotted. The company I used back then was out of business.) In September I told Kevin I wanted a job that would last 15 years, for I don't like dealing with the paint selection, nor the cost. My roof is a bit tricky, and I asked Kevin to meet me ahead of time with my current roofer, so the company felt comfortable on the metal roof, without denting it, for they needed to be on the roof to paint the set back 2nd floor. (They used boards that had some time of rubber backing, and thus stood on these boards painting the 2nd story in the front.) We knew 1 fascia board up very high had to be replaced. Once the house painting was underway, more boards were found to be rotted, so these were replaced as well, then primed before painting. Kevin also suggested I have my roofer investigate why the high up fascia board rotted in the first place. Great advice, Kevin. (As it turned out, my flashing around my chimney wasn't done correctly back in 2002.) Kevin also suggested I should have my exposed fascia boards covered with flashing now that all the boards are freshly painted, which I am working with my roofer on.) The exterior of the house took 4 days, with crews from 2 to 5 young men. Again, I requested 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Duration, and Paulson Painting supplied the paint this time. The first coat was sprayed on, then back rolled, and the 2nd coat sprayed. Trim was hand painted, again 2 coats. They covered my plants and picked up after themselves each day. Kevin dropped by 2 times during the 4 days to check on his teams' progress and quality. I thought I might have scratches on my deck from their ladder, but I didn't. They were very careful to not get paint where it shouldn't be. The only thing that could improve was the responsiveness of the office staff (Kevin's wife), who handles the payments, scheduling and inquiries. She is a very nice lady, but hard to get ahold of at times. The real test will be in 2026 and beyond. I hope the paint still looks great then.

Due to dry rot, this also required carpentry work. In just about a week, they replaced about 40-50 rotten boards, painted the deck wood and walls, did other cosmetic repairs, and ensured everything was moved back to where it was when they were done. Their communication was on point and they always showed up when they said they would. Matt goes beyond as well. He makes sure you're aware of all options on how what kind of finishes are possible and why any might be considered. He addressed structural issues caused by the original builders. He also approaches the project in a manner that ensures the rest of the house won't get damaged during the work (in this case, hoisting all the new and old wood off the roof via rope). Three days after pressure-washing the house, they started prep work, taping the windows & around fixtures, removing the downspouts, scraping off old caulking, etc. The following day painting began. Due to some rain, the job was completed 1 day later than estimated, but they did what they could. The job took 1/2 day for pressure washing and 5 days to prep and paint. The crew was great, arriving early or on time each day and really working hard making sure they did everything properly. They even put back big potted plants that had to be moved, which I really appreciated. Jorge came by the work site each day to make sure things were going smoothly and answer any questions I had. There are a lot of painters out there, so choose carefully, choose A&I's Painting! I will hire them again for sure!

I reached out to A and I's Painting in the middle of a water damage repair - the first contractor (Premier Water Removal) had ghosted me after I tried to get them to finish repairing and painting the ceiling in my bedroom. Jorge, from A and I's, answered my request for bid and came out to scope the job the next day. He identified an issue that others had missed, which was necessary and would require the entire bedroom to be painted. This gained my trust and he promised he'd find a way to work me into their busy schedule. He did that and more. He prepped the room himself to reduce the time that the painters needed to fit into their schedule. The painting was done days later and it is flawless. There is no evidence, NONE, that a large hole was patched, textured and painted. The rest of the job was the same quality and this company was a pleasure to work with!
