Main Street Bistro - Burria taco with dipping sauce

Our experience at Main Street Bistro was the best part of our two day trip. Fresh, local, and…read moreaffordable??? Unheard of in this economy. Getting shown the mushrooms you're gonna be eating? For well under $100 total?? Mike, the owner/chef/server is extraordinary. His dishes, totally inspired. I work in the service industry. He made dinner an absolute "moment" and I think that's hard to achieve these days. Unbelievable, you cannot leave this off of your itinerary. You have to try it out before he blows up and there's a huge line out the door. We will never forget about the pumpkin curry bowl, pesto pasta, or ramen birria. HIDDEN GEM WITH A GREAT MIND BEHIND IT. WE WILL BE BACK

I ate here earlier this year with a friend during the soft opening when the sign said "Los…read moreHermanos". Had a chicken mole dish with a margarita. The margarita tasted like soapwater and the mole dish barely had any mole on it. We both left disappointed. Now the sign has been replaced with "Main Street Bistro" so we decided to try this place again. We did not have margaritas, but settled with water. I had a chicken remix burrito and my friend had a quesadilla with beef consume. The paper menu was hard to read with the green print on white background. Mike was our server. He was friendly enough but not very attentive. He seemed busy with other things. We had to ask for more water. My burrito was a small burrito served with just a small slice of lime. It looked so barren on the plate. It was tasty enough, though. Luckily I wasn't too hungry as I had lunch today at 9am and it was now 5pm. My friend enjoyed her quesadilla. The place was empty. We were the only two people in the restaurant. There was a private party in the back with the fireplace but no other customers. We had to put up with the same dance music playing in the background. The music was either for the owner, or for the people in the private room. There are plenty of vegan dishes on the menu, so for a vegan, this may be a nice place to dine, but we left a little unimpressed. Mike seems to be doing all the cooking himself with no additional help.

Our waitress/hostess was terrific throughout, from greeting to service. She did forget to mention that there was a small condiments bar in the opposite corner of the restaurant but the tacos were amply accessorized and thus outstanding regardless (I frankly often prefer only cabbage/onion and no sauces because I'm really here to taste, and test, the meat! The asada was really good but the carnitas were the bomb. At $13 for each plate of two 6-inch tacos and no sides it was bordering on steep but this was a sit down experience as well. The venue is typically packed wknds around peak lunch and dinner hours. It's ambiance is traditional "saloon" with wood floors, walls, tables, and chairs. They haven't posted their hours on Yelp and I forgot to take a picture of their front door but the menu pics are Jan 2026!

I'm not sure what they do differently but they're delicious! The tacos all come in sets of 2, not mix and match. Everyone in our group got tacos and everyone was happy and agreed they were quite large and had a lot of filling. I got the Korean pork belly tacos and these were really good! That said, next time I'd try to get someone to split 2 kinds with me as 2 of the pork belly tacos was pretty heavy.

Our waitress was very attentive, and the service stayed consistent the entire time. The food was chef's kiss. The rice was excellent, and the fajita platter my husband and I shared was flavorful and more than enough. The margaritas were on point too. We ordered the huge Cadillac margarita and it did not disappoint. This will definitely be our go-to spot every time we're in Willcox for the wine festival!

We came back again for dinner last Thursday. We had the same servers who recognize us from the Sunday before. She wanted to try the beef ribs. I had chicken enchiladas. While she praised the large portion, she also admitted the ribs were fatty. She took the leftover ribs home for a second meal. We both agreed that the homemade salsa is delicious. The chips we got were warm and crispy. My enchiladas were spiced just right. I'd have them again. Service was friendly. My friend noted that the interior of the restaurant is indeed very much like a genuine Mexican restaurant south of the border, with bold bright colors and decorative crosses on the walls.

The chips with the chips and salsa were freshly made and nice and warm. The salsa had no flavor and was just orange liquid. I ordered the carne asada steak and a cheese enchilada with green sauce. The green sauce was very good. The steak was so rubbery I couldn't even cut through it nor barely chew the one piece I actually got in my mouth. Flavorless as well. The whole steak went to waste. The beans were good, the rice way over done. My husband had the chimichanga with enchilada sauce. The chimi was overdone and had the same tough and fatty carne asada. The enchilada sauce was not good. Half of this went to waste as well. Even the margarita's were not good. So for over $50 we enjoyed the chips and green sauce. I really hate to put down a small business. We like to try new places and really help boost the local economy but this was just a money grab. Many older people were coming in as we left. Perhaps the locals can appreciate this place but we can not in good conscience let it go and not warn others. If you truly enjoy mexican food please know you have been warned.
