We stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night, and were seated immediately. I was impressed with how many options you could choose from for the all-you-can-eat menu. There are appetizers, soup/salad, Chinese and hibachi meals, and so much sushi! Everything came out very quickly and was surprisingly good. The meal portions were larger than we expected, and we were already getting full before the sushi came out. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs, ordering a few rolls at once. An all-you-can-eat experience with a method of ordering like no other in Pittsburgh. They make a big deal about people ordering things and not eating them. In fact, they charge a large fee if you don't finish all of your food. Speaking of the food, we would call it mediocre. Some of it is on the cheaper end, and some of it is kind of disgusting. But at least it's not on the buffet. At this place, you don't actually go up to a buffet. Instead, you write your order on a sheet of paper, which you can repeat a number of times. There are limits to certain items, and the sashimi is extremely expensive, for reason that I've never really understood. My wife and I agree that it is the sushi scam when places charge a bunch for sashimi. Anyway, I really think that the honest review of this place is as follows: Service for 4 stars. They are prompt and courteous, and they don't bother you too much. There's not much of a show, and there's not much of a conversation with the help. Food quality. 2.5 to 3.5 stars. Price. Two stars. Mr Tokyo has the strongest specialty roll lineup with asahi a close second. Enjoyed the Chinese dinners here more than the other locations. While sushi bomb has the highest price point it's the most convenient to the city of Pittsburgh. Overall, the sushi was solid, Chinese dinners tasty, and the apps fresh. Only two pieces of feedback is the paper check off concept is convenient for the first round but gets confusing thereafter. Also got the vibe that they thought it was an inconvenience that I ordered multiple rounds. Insanely delicious. I've been to this restaurant many many times and i'll never get tired of it. The sushi is fresh and the hibachi has so much flavor. (I always get the shrimp hibachi!) I will say it's important to note that the price has gone up; which is shocking because this place always does so well. It's getting close to $25 per person which is kinda crazy. I've noticed they've stopped giving 2 pieces of the nigiri and only handing out one per order. Of course you can just order more but i'm worried the price will continue to rise as they hand out less food. I like the quieter ambiance and the seating is comfortable. There are limits - so that you eat what you order - don't over order and waste :) I started with the house salad and crab Rangoon- probably some of the best ginger dressing I have ever had on that salad. I used to eat here a lot with my friends when they first opened around 2017. I got takeout twice during covid because there were doing pretty reasonably priced sushi meal deals. I recently ate inside for the second time since the pandemic and was wildly disappointed and probably won't return. My sister and I came at 12:30 for lunch and the restaurant wasn't too busy. Service was very slow, and we were told we'd only be able to put one order in based on time constraints, so not all you can eat style like they previously had. They didn't close for two more hours? So, on the first round of ordering, we ordered soup, salad, crab rangoon, a chicken appetizer, and we each got two sushi rolls since we were told we wouldn't be able to order again. Two of my favorite items are gone from the menu: gyoza and kani salad. Everything came out all at once. Soup was the best part of the meal. The ginger salad dressing is thick and goopy and the lettuce was turning brown. Apps were ok, but the chicken app came with ketchup covering the bottom of the container and i hate ketchup so half of that was wasted. Sushi was really subpar- it tasted old, rice was hard, and avocado was brown. Took forever to get our check and when the server brought it over he then asked if we wanted to order anything else. Prices raised while quality has significantly fallen. Gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because I remember them having decent food for ayce. read more

AYCE Made to order sushi is the best thing since sliced bread!! Usually all you can eat buffets are mAde up of food that's been sitting out for who knows how long but since this is made to order you know you're getting freshly made food. This place is great because of the variety of options you have available to you- don't like sushi? Get Chinese. Don't like Chinese? get hibachi. They also have appetizers that add to the variety. My personal fave was aged tofu and I never pass on crab Rangoon. Their kanai salad (crab salad) was tasty too. My tip would be to only order 1 or 2 apps and if you're here for the sushi only order 1-2 types of rolls then order the pieces. They sushi rolls are huge- bursting with rice (filler) and there are many pieces in them so just get a few to try or you might be charged extra for waste if you don't finish. I also preferred the sushi and or hibachi over the Chinese selections. Overall the food was good - what made it was the variety. Servers are not overly friendly but pretty efficient. This place went downhill. 3 of us came for dinner, it was not busy at all, our first order we placed took an hour to get to our table. Then second Order we placed took another hour, both orders were small and after sitting there for 2 hours we decided to skip ordering anything else due to it taking so long. We tried the AYCE option, and overall, I was happy with our meal for the most part. I would go back to try it again. From the bar, we tried a Mojito (it was okay). For the soup, we tried their Gyoza soup, a take on a won ton in my opinion. It was okay. For appetizers, we tried the tatsuta age (breaded chicken "tenders"), the harumaki (spring rolls), and the age tofu. I would NOT recommend the tatsuta age. They were not good at all. Pieces/strips/chunks of chicken breaded in a very not-flavorful greasy rice flour(?) coating. The plum sauce was also not enjoyable, in my personal opinion, that came with it. The spring rolls were awesome. We went back for seconds on these. The tofu was good, too, even though it had the same breading as the chicken. For sushi, we had the Monster Roll and Friends Roll. The monster roll was "awesome", and the friends roll was "good". For the entrees, we sampled the Hibachi Steak (Awesome!), Hibachi Scallops (Eh...), the Chicken Lo Mein (Good!), Chicken Fried Rice (Good!) and the Hunan Beef (Eh...). The non-noodle/rice dishes come with vegetables and fried rice or noodles. Beware, each additional order also comes with the veg and rice/noodles. You are forced to get these...and forced to actually "eat it"....they want you to fill up on these so you don't order more, obviously........ While our server was nice, things were a little slow. She was great at helping us understand what we needed to do, and explained things well. But, like I stated... things were a little slow. Had to ask for refills on our drinks (my biggest pet peeve). It took way too long in between courses and ordering. I don't know if this is a ploy to make you get full and leave, or if it was a staffing issue. It was a Friday night, and there were a couple big parties, but they were NOT overly busy in any way.... If it was not for the slowness of the meal, and the mediocre levels of some of the items we had that I feel shouldn't have been (the scallops, mainly), I would have given them a 4/5 for my rating. Overall, I want to go back again and try some of the other items. For the money, it was worth it, even with it being a bit slow. I now know what dishes to steer away from, which I already like, and look forward to trying some of the other items that I wasn't able to try. read more
