    Wagasa ceiling
    Thomas S.

I must say I really like the inside, from ceiling to floor the decor is great. They do floating Wagasa's on the ceiling, tea cups along the wall, just every thing down to the lamps is very authentic. Unusually high quality disposable napkins, maybe I'm getting old, but I appreciate a good napkin. Our waiter was very courteous, brought our drinks quickly as we went over the menu. He was able to point out a menu item that was similar to a picture I showed him on my phone. I ordered the Godzilla Roll and my fellow patrons ordered the Cali and Rainbow rolls, and fried noodles. My wife wasn't too fond of the Cali rolls but I ordered the Godzilla Roll and they were really good! Fried noodles were delicious as well. Pina Colada was tall but not very strong, no complaints there. I liked this spot, but I might have to convince my wife to go back again, we had two entirely different experiences. I say give it a try

I have now been here three times. To be honest, if I had limited myself to only basing my review on my first visit, I would not be giving 4 stars. My first visit was when they first opened, and they definitely had some kinks to work out, and for the most part, they did. There was definite portion issues, server issues, and some other customer service issues. For my family, though, food quality itself has remained consistently good. Unlike the one other review there is currently, we've had no issues with our sushi or other food items. Our most recent visit (#3) was by far the best we've had. If we would have had the level of service, quality, and appropriate portion sizes we received during our first visit, I would have been singing the praises of this place everywhere. I'm glad we continued to give them a chance, and I am hoping now that they've been open a little longer, things will continue the way our third visit was. One of the things we really like about this place is that you get rice AND noodles with your meal, in addition to the veggies and shrimp. They have also done a beautiful job with the renovation of the space. We will continue to patronize this location, and I will update the review accordingly.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice now. Each time is amazing. The sushi is delicious and the service is fantastic. The water glass is never empty and they are very quick with all services. I highly recommend the fire roll that is my favorite. My boyfriends favorite is the spicy Santa or the Boston roll. The multiple sushi rolls in the boat for a flat price is such a good deal. Highly recommend

The seafood is fresh, and the menu features several creative options. We tried a variety of items (Nigiri, Temaki, Takoyaki, and the daily specials) and honestly loved everything! As sushi lovers, we shared several small plates and really appreciated the quality. The fish-to-rice ratio was spot on. I loved the vibe: very hipster, complete with a DJ. Next time, we'd love to sit at the counter facing the kitchen for that authentic Japanese experience. Our server was so sweet and gave us some great recommendations. Even though it was busy, the timing of the courses was perfect. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend a reservation as they do not take many walk ins, especially for big parties and definitely take advantage of their happy hour menu (5-6pm). Their HH menu allows you to try some of their most popular bites for a fraction of the cost! Items that we ALWAYS order are the karaage, stir fried udon wit shrimp tempura, at least 3 skewers, the lychee martinis, Takoyaki, and some variation of toro. We try to mix in others every time and have never had a bad bite! Servers are always so kind to us and can't wait until my next visit! Hopefully it's soon!

There's a paid parking lot across the street as well as metered parking on High Street. Their awning has seen better days but after walking up a small flight of stairs, you enter a cozy restaurant and greeted by its staff. There's about 8 tables for seating and the walls are neatly decorated with Japanese art. The front wall displays photos of their food offerings and made ordering easy. The friendly cashier answered some questions and we placed our order of shoyu ramen, curry rice with chicken katsu, shumai, gyoza, and takoyaki as well as soft drinks. There were several other customers having their meals and more gradually filled the tables as others left. The food was served soon after and looked delicious. They formed a kitty cat with the rice, complete with nori for cat eyes on the curry katsu plate. Nice touch. The curry was very flavorful and just the right consistency and a little spicy which went great with the katsu. Only wish there was more katsu. My buddy's ramen looked fantastic and was told the noodles were delicious in the broth. Found out the noodles aren't made in house but bought from a vendor. The gyoza and shumai were very tasty alone and with its sauce. The takoyaki took some time to cook but was nicely sauced and served. There were sizable chunks of tako inside and was very tasty. The prices are reasonable for a specialty restaurant and the service was great. There's another Japanese restaurant in Morgantown which was very good but Yama's was a little better and I'd return if ever I'm in Morgantown.

They're a small place maybe 20 or so seats. So sometimes you have to wait to order be seated and get your order. Lunch time seems to be alot easier to accommodate people who don't have patience. Personally I've eaten quite a few things on the menu. I enjoy the shoyu Ramen the shrimp shumei the gyoza. I've had the takoyaki a few times as well as the spicy tuna roll. Portions are good price is good and the staff is awesome. The decoration inside makes me think that that is what a japanese family type restaurant would look like in japan. Many light novels and manga on the book shelves to peruse through (all in japanese of course) which incidently your read from back to front right page to left page incase anyone wants to look at them. Can't recommend yama enough.

Our service was nothing to complain about. The chef was entertaining enough, let us hold the fire sticks! Our table wasn't very enthusiastic so I don't blame him for not giving any more effort to have fun haha The onion soup that started was just OK. Didn't have a ton of effort involved. The salad was not great. It was soaking in the dressing, like soup at the bottom. I got the filet mignon hibachi meal and it was a ton of food...Basically two dinners. It had good flavor overall, but wish there was more depth of flavor in the brown sauce. Overall not bad, but I've had better. Reservations are highly recommended - it's on the smaller side. The menu has so many options and an amazing variety. One thing to note is this Japanese food is not like most others. Its focus is on homestyle, also fried/stir fried Japanese dishes. So do not expect Ramen or noodle soups. A couple things that are always ordered is the Kaarage, Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki (best in the city), yakisoba or udon, and gyoza. The staff is so sweet and the decorations remind me of Izakaya places in larger cities. They have a bar with cool cocktails and adorable bento boxes they sell during lunch hours throughout the week. The takoyaki has a crunchy outside and a good flavor (4/5), and the okonomiyaki is pretty filling (4/5); these were the best two. The yaki-udon with shrimp was ok (3/5) but definitely expensive for what it was and the quantity; they also don't add much shrimp, despite the up charge. The sake no shioyaki was below average for salmon (2/5) and very expensive for that amount they give you. Similarly, the onigiri is almost entirely rice if you add salmon (2/5). You order on a tablet, and they bring the food out. Service was ok (3/5); we had empty waters for a while. The restaurant is well-decorated, and you can see the chefs work, which gives it an ambiance somewhat like a hibachi place (4/5). Overall, I think most of the items are pretty expensive for what they are; they don't have the quality or quantity to justify the price.
