We enjoyed the atmosphere and we were happy with the service. I ordered the salmon which was outstanding, encrusted with macadamia nuts. My husband had the chicken breast. He was hoping for fried chicken like listed on Yelp. So, he was disappointed. Our waitress was very busy, still attentive to our needs. We will go back ~ it's a nice one hour drive from Three Lakes, WI.

Incredibly good food. Unique menu items that we really enjoyed. I couldn't put it in a specific cuisine but really enjoyed everything we had.

We are part time self proclaimed food critics. Because I love to cook, we are hypercritical when we dine out. This was one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in 10 years as lifelong Northwoods locals. Beautiful atmosphere, great bartender Jake, fabulous server Audrey, and the chef outdid herself. Beautiful green salad on a chilled plate and scratch dressing, wonderful warm crusty dinner rolls, incredibly fresh walleye crusted with potato chips, garlic, and honey, served with gnocchi with roasted garlic. A gigantic sundae with exceptional quality vanilla ice cream, peaches, caramel, and toasted pecans. We came during a quiet period. That certainly boosted our experience. Oftentimes the parking lot is full. These folks understand the difference is in the details. Patronize them. Unusual but refreshing menu and this chef cooks with pride and love.

Started with shared pasta salad and cheddar spread best eaten with bread sticks. Warm rye bread was an add on. We ordered the appetizer special - cheese sticks deep fried with marinara sauce. Would pass on it next time. Four adults and two children in the party. Adults had filet mignon, baby back ribs and two had fish fry. The steak was prepared perfectly and came with a baked potato. Ribs were good but they were not typical baby back as expected and came with a potato pancake with apple sauce. Fish fry was generous and served with cole slaw and baked potato. I spilt a wedge salad and it was delicious. Romaine lettuce split and loaded with blue cheese, tomato's, bacon and a blue cheese dressing. Kids had grilled cheese sandwich with fries, and the other had pasta with red sauce. Both meals were clean plate club. Our server was excellent. The meal was timed perfectly and we were kept informed as the night went on. Would definitely return. Recommend without any reservations. Ambience is special, well worth going early to check things out.

I learned early I didn't give a damn about fishing, and even less about 2 weeks in a primitive fishing camp. Every few days we had to go re-stock supplies (mostly beer for the grownups) and it was a trip to Boulder Junction to do so. I couldn't wait for those trips to get away from the crushing boredom of the camp. Back then, (60's) Boulder Junction was speck of fly-shit on the map of Wisconsin, quaint and gemütlichkeit as it was. In the 21st century, it ain't much bigger, but it sure has grown in vibe. It's now an artsy-crunchy village of shops and places for the well-to-do who have their summer joints in the vicinity to have a cocktail and a bite to eat. The Guides Inn had the highest YELP rating and was close to our Hotel on the night we arrived, so it got the nod. It's a Wisconsin Supper club, dressed a notch up. The gruff fellow at the bar (who was gruff at some other folks, not us) eased up and took care of us admirably, crafting divine Brandy OldFashioneds which balmed the edge off the 400mile+ ride from Chicago. There were a bunch of us, and they could not fit our entire group at one table, so we were in 4-top tribes. Not perfect, but it was OK. There was an amuse-bouche relish tray-haven't seen one of those in a while. Typical of Wisco Supper clubs these days, there were surprises on the menu. In this case Walleye Cheeks. If you've ever been to a fine Spanish/Basque resto, you might have had Kokotxas (Cod Cheeks) which are among the finest Tapas you can get (and an apt delivery system for Garlic, Chilis and Olive Oil). There's a pocket of very tender and tasty meat on the side of certain fishes heads called "cheeks" (it makes sense, n'est ce pas?) and on a Walleye, which is a fine eating fish in any preparation, the "Cheeks" are indeed a delicacy. They were breaded/fried here and totally yum. The onion soup was, as well. My Entree was Beef Wellington (another dish you might not suspect from a Wisco Supper club in the middle of nowhere) and it was top-notch. Accompanied by Wild Rice-There's the Northwoods signature. Wife had a regular Filet Mig which she reported was fine. Service was good, and the decor a step up, like I indicated previously, from a garden-variety Wisco Supper Club. The CHECK, however, was closer to downtown Chicago than the map might suggest. Not the bargain bill you usually find at Supper Clubs, but I'll say the dear prices were commensurate with the bread and circuses. A pleasant evening in a pleasant place...

Our server, Leah, was very pleasant and met our every need. I'm extremely picky about tartar sauce and she brought me out plenty to try and then when I loved it, more to enjoy with their excellent fries. I thought it was the best I've ever had in a restaurant. We all enjoyed our meal and my daughter loved her Fettuccine Alfredo especially. My walleye sandwich was incredible, too, especially since that tartar sauce was so phenomenal. One thing that really caught my eye was how hard the hostess was working. I don't think I've ever seen someone of her generation with such an amazing work ethic. It was kind of fun to watch her do her thing. If I had a company of my own locally, I would definitely be working to hire her. I didn't get her name, a d she looked awfully young to own the place. She acted as if she did, however. Amazing!

They remodeled the interior, and while some may like the update, we miss the old-school supper club atmosphere. The menu has also been cut down and is now pretty bare bones. The service was slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, and they forgot our appetizer. The prices have increased, but the quality and value have definitely gone in the opposite direction. I always ordered the Pub Special and could never finish it because the portions were so generous. This time, the portion was noticeably smaller, the bun was soggy, the sandwich had no flavor, and the au jus was only lukewarm. To make matters worse, fries are now an extra charge. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. A place that was once one of our favorites has lost the atmosphere, quality, and value that kept us coming back for so many years. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
