This restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip to the Northwoods! We didn't not have a reservation but despite a crowded parking lot we were seated immediately. I ordered the salmon with dill sauce and it was excellent. My husband had the baked walleye and we had no leftovers. This could quite possibly be one of the best meals I've had here in the north woods! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is finer dining in a beautiful lodge building on a scenic lake in the very rural area of Manitowish Waters.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We pulled up on a Wednesday night in the middle of July and the place was PACKED.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were happy to be able to get a table in the "screened porch", which seemed like the pour over dining area but it was very nice and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress, Bailey was delightful! She was a hard worker and understanding the worker shortage in the north woods, it seemed they had no busboys as this poor girl had to not only serve all 5-6 tables in her section, but was forced to buss two of her own tables. Good busboys are the key to turning tables. This young lady who was fairly knowledgeable about the menu although needed to learn a little more about the specials before she got out on the floor. Nevertheless, a quick check on the proper pronunciation and definition of "Pontchartrain Sauce" had me sold on the fried walleye special. Everything is a la carte here so don't be surprised with a pricey tab. That said, IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I started with a cup of the Hungarian Mushroom soup, which was phenomenal. This was followed up with as I say the fried walleye with pontchatrain sauce and sautéed green beans that were perfectly cooked; crunchy and delectable. My girlfriend had the French Dip with waffle fries. The beef was good, tender and well made. Drinks we well made and not weak. The bartender came directly to our table when there was a question about the flavored vodka they carried. She offered options and made the order perfect. I had the ribs, and they were dry, so had to ask for sauce. Found out that there was no bread as you had to order it. No relish tray either as most Supper Clubs offer that. Ate here recently. The food was fine but there are no extras - no rolls, no relish tray, etc. My wife had the walleye and I had the salmon, good but not good enough to want to return anytime soon. Had early reservations on Valentines evening. The lodge was stately. Log cabin feel. Wood fire in the fire place. Lots of taxidermy and a romantic view of the river through the pines. Service was on point. Lots of people involved, taking drink orders, bringing out apps, dinner, deserts. The food was brought out right away while it was hot, rather than it waiting in back for the waitress to grab it. When we did see our server she was all smiles, respectful and responsive. The food was cooked as ordered, and expectations were more than satisfied. Not always an easy task to find these days. Definitely try the bread pudding for dessert. Our only complaint is they need more lights in the parking area. (Lol, Man i sound old don't i). 2 thumbs up. read more

You have to have the chili. The manager Blake has a long history with some of the best chili creators, and this chili is on par with what you'd find at the Terlingua Chili Cook Off. The food is always exceptional, and the service impeccable. The owners and manager there have kicked the place up several notches since taking over a few years ago. If by some small chance, you should find yourself dissatisfied with something, let them know and they'll make it right for you. read more

We went for dinner last night. We were seated and the waitress took our order. She was never seen again, at least at our table. No follow up to see if we would like another drink (which we would have), no inquiry as to how our meal was, if we wanted dessert, or if we were ready for our bill. We went to what appeared to be the manager to ask for our bill and expressed our concern however this didn't appear to be an issue - no apology. I had high expectations for Aberdeen, but it fell far short. We came as a family (my cousin has a home on Little Star) and were seated immediately. Great service from the waitress, and a decent Brandy Old Fashioned. I started with the Turtle Soup, which I will say was one of the BEST soups I've had in quite a while. Outstanding blend of creole flavors. Then it went downhill. My wife and I ordered the Saturday night Prime Rib special, hers was medium rare and mine was rare. The server from the kitchen (not the waitress) was confused and called the rare a medium and the medium was well done. Back they went to the kitchen, but the waitress returned to say he had the order wrong and those were our steaks. Cutting into the steaks, these were not prime cuts. USDA Choice at best. The flavor was fine, but it took a bit of elbow grease to cut through them. The baked potato was small, and the green beans were average. For the price being charged, I was expecting better. For dessert we shared the bread pudding, and it is a large portion for 2 or more. It was fine, but nothing memorable. What WAS memorable was the as the sun was setting, the owner lowered the mesh curtain that was blocking the direct rays from the sun, and it was then blinding my wife. When she asked if he could leave it up for another 5 minutes, she was told he would not and she could move her seat to the other side of the table if it was bothering her. The final kicker was a surcharge added to every item you order. There's no explanation for this, and I didn't notice until reviewing the bill later. It's a 4% surcharge, and since it's added to the items the tip recommendations are then based on the surcharged total. Given the already high prices, I don't understand the need to charge further. read more

Bar/restaurant with below average food. Located on the water so I suppose it's a good stop for people to stop at from their boat, or for those staying at the Aberdeen lodge cabins. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend dining here. Their "legendary" fish fry was expensive and not good, only 2 pieces. Very disappointing, especially for a north woods spot-fish fry should actually be legendary! Also had the chicken Parmesan which again, was expensive and not great. We were charged more than the menu price as well, unsure why. Another bummer was a Wisconsin staple, cheese curds, we're not executed well. We were told this restaurant was on the water, which it is, but barely any view of the lake due to trees. Also the windows were dirty!! So this is an upper end restaurant at a reasonable price. Food is excellent. We had ribs and a blackened walleye special. The owner is there to greet and check you in and also comes by to check on your dinners. A well trained staff. Everyone is attentive, and full of energy. Dining room runs like a machine! The owner was fantastic we walked in and got on the list on a Saturday night other places in town demand a reservation. Had a drink we were seated. We had the cheese curds- you definitely should get these! Review for the restaurant, not accommodations. We ended up here after trying to have lunch at Little Bohemia (FYI, they place is a shitshow) - proverbial bullet dodged because Aberdeen was pretty great. First, be aware that you'll be taking a dirt road for a good quarter mile to get to the lodge. You might be thinking you made a wrong turn, but eventually you'll pull up in front of a really nice log lodge. The inside is bright and airy with lots of taxidermy and art from locals on the walls. It's really, really nice - super clean and new feeling even though we were told the lodge was built in the 90's. Lunch is a fairly basic menu (burgers, sandwiches) with a surprise or two - like Shrimp Nachos. One person in our group ordered them and was really happy with the dish. I stuck with a burger which was pretty basic but plenty good - juicy and cooked as requested. Fries were great - they season them with what the chef described as a "proprietary blend" but it's smoky, peppery and very tasty. Service was great - friendly and on top of drink refills. Aberdeen is tucked away but well worth seeking out - it's a LOT nicer than some of the more well known spots nearby. read more

We had an incredible experience here. It is my understanding that they are under new management and it was evident. It was 9PM on a Friday and we were out fishing late but reallllyyy wanted a fish fry and were hoping to boat there. Called up a couple local places and they were done serving. I was thrilled when I called this place up and a gentleman (whom I now know was the owner) answered and informed us that they were still serving food, we were thrilled! The perch fish fry was terrific, we all cleaned our plates and washed it all down with an old fashion. The service was also great, the staff was so friendly and food came out timely and warm. Upon entering you're treated to a beautiful view of the lake through a huge wall to wall window, the sun was just going down. The walls were Northwoods logs with a knotty pine ceiling, and the perfect amount of well done taxidermy. The ambiance here is by far the best I personally have seen since I moved here from the Chicago suburbs 4 years ago. I was treated to dinner by my daughter, son-in-law, and 8 year old grandson up from Chicago for my birthday and the service was impeccable. Our waitress was friendly, very attentive, and even interacted with my grandson. I had the prime rib and it was very good but I unfortunately compare it to Lawry's Restaurant in Chicago which you can't beat because it's my mission to find up here.The others had the ravioli pasta and pork tenderloin and they really enjoyed it. My grandson had chicken strips with waffle fries but he didn't care for the seasoning on the fries but stole everyone else's broccoli which he really liked. Salads are not included with your entree which I feel was a disappointment and had to be ordered A la carte. Although, it may sound negative it was not. The dinner was wonderful overall and I will definitely go back. I recommend it for an upscale dining experience. You must try it. read more
