To start with, the place is very cool on the inside. It has an amazing antique bar, and just as the name says, boat memorabilia everywhere. The staff was terrific, too. Our server, Leah, was very pleasant and met our every need. I'm extremely picky about tartar sauce and she brought me out plenty to try and then when I loved it, more to enjoy with their excellent fries. I thought it was the best I've ever had in a restaurant. We all enjoyed our meal and my daughter loved her Fettuccine Alfredo especially. My walleye sandwich was incredible, too, especially since that tartar sauce was so phenomenal. One thing that really caught my eye was how hard the hostess was working. I don't think I've ever seen someone of her generation with such an amazing work ethic. It was kind of fun to watch her do her thing. If I had a company of my own locally, I would definitely be working to hire her. I didn't get her name, a d she looked awfully young to own the place. She acted as if she did, however. Off season = under 30 min wait with a great drink !! Came here for the fish fry. It did not disappoint!! I will say my kid ate his weight in the breadsticks and cheese appetizer. A great Wisconsin staple. Husband and kid both got the fried cod. I got the broiled (so happy for that option as I love fish just can't do the breading). Everything was hot and delicious. Baked potatoes were delish and huge !! 3.5 stars. This app needs halvsies. Came here on a Tuesday, off season, and it was definitely showing. The food was pretty good. View was nice. The service was sparse. Poor bartender was over worked and it seemed like the other people who worked there could give a flying frisbee. I was starving, SQUID!! so we had to get food. Had the ol' standard burger, split with the wife. Fries were crisp and burger was good quality. I guess the turn off was the aura. It seemed like we had some Mr. and Mrs. Howell types in there, and maybe they didn't like my work jacket and hat?? Got some looks from the ol' bluebloods, and all the while they are wearing their own goofy ahh Panama Jack hats. Loosen your undies, Mortimer and Betty, it's Minoqua, not downtown Chicago. My college buddy and I stopped in for a drink after touring and shopping. It's been years since I last stopped in (and I believe ownership has changed since then). While I was closing up my dad's old house I would frequently come for lunch or dinner -- but I never sat down for a drink at the bar, and I wasn't Yelping back then -- so this is a first review for me even though it's not my first visit. The back bar is beautiful. I don't know if it's original or something resurrected from another long gone establishment, but I like it a lot. And after scanning the bottles it's apparent that they have just about everything and therefore should be able to make whatever drink a customer might want. My friend spotted a top shelf bourbon he was interested in and asked for a pour, neat. The pour was ample and the price was fair. He enjoyed it. I perused their "signature drinks" menu and selected one that appealed to me. Unfortunately the bartender didn't know how to make it and had to consult a recipe. Once mixed and served, the drink was fine and I enjoyed it. But, in my opinion, if an establishment is offering signature drinks or dishes, the bartenders and chefs, even if recently hired, need to know the recipes by heart (or at the least, not let the customers know that they are checking out the recipe). Professionalism is important for me, no matter what the business may be. read more

My good gracious! So glad we stumbled across this gem on our way to Washburn. We were traveling from Milwaukee to Washburn (for a vacation near the Apostle Islands) and needed a break from driving and some lunch. We happened to stop for gas right across the street from The Boathouse and after a search on Yelp, decided it would be an aok spot to stop for lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately. Their dining room is lined with large windows overlooking the lake and so we were able to watch some water skiers doing jumps off the ramp in the lake while we dined. So cool! I ordered the lure salad with salmon added and it was a moan-worthy delight. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the salad was perfectly dressed (not too much not too little) and every bite was flavorful and fresh! The service was incredibly friendly and they have a gorgeous bar. If we'd had more time in the area, I would have definitely been back for cocktails. Get to it! read more

Beautiful and prime location in Minocqua! We came here for a late lunch after a full morning on the water. Surprised to see many tasty options on the menu as well as good kids meals. We ordered seafood of course! My tuna wrap was very fresh and delicious, wish there was no sauce in the wrap. The shrimp tacos were on point. The boathouse dining overlooks lake Minocqua so the view is 5 ! The classic bar was actually originally from Chicago bar and transported to the boathouse, which is worth a visit to see and have a drink. They have a wide variety of taps including spotted cow. The food was good overall, but unfortunately they could do much better managing tables. Nice restaurant with an amazing location and view of lake. Great menu includes everything from appetizers, sandwiches and full dinners. Large open bar in dinner area, stocked with many wines and high end spirits along with specialty tap beers. Might make for a of loud dinning atmosphere on busy nights. No problem tonight however. The bartender told me that they don't take reservations which might make for a bit if a wait in the touristy seasons. She recommended that "eating early" dinning would be best in summer, otherwise there could be a wait, depending on the day. I heard the waitress tell the table behind me that the ribs were "fall off the bone" good.... So that's what ordered! The ribs were good, but definitely not "fall off the bone". Needed to cut each bone off the rack, and then work a bit to get the meat. Nothing wrong with the taste however. I really liked the fresh loaf of bread that came with my dinner. Very fresh, and served warm. Prices were in line with other comparable restaurants, which is nice in a touristy area like Minocqua where you might expect inflated prices. Will be back. read more

We popped in for lunch today. We had the dried cod and the lox BLT. While the sandwich was good, the dried cod was outstanding!!!! They win on fish fry for this trip. Food was a little slow out of the kitchen. Otherwise, awesome! And you can't beat a window seat over the lake! read more

We started at the bar, had a good drink. Nice bar and bartenders. Thought we could eat at the bar. You can only order apps. Went to see how long a wait would be for a table. First, Addie, the hostess should learn how to smile. She never even looked up. I couldn't believe how rude she was. She was very bothered and never even said hello. I was told it was an hour, decided to have apps at the bar. Another couple walked in, put their name in, then sat at the bar. They were seated 10 minutes later. Hmmmmm??? Ended up there again the next night, only because no other restaurants were serving food at that time. Put in our name, again, no greeting from Addie. I got the Alfredo and it was disgusting. Completely drowning in sauce, at least 3 x's what it should be. It was supposed to have broccoli, it was hard to find. The tuna app was good. I would not recommend eating here. read more

It's on a lake so immediately it scores for a nice view and accessibility from Lake Minocqua. The service was prompt and friendly. The waitress gave us some good food recommendations. It's solid decent bar food. Nothing fancy but it hits the spot after being on the lake for a few hours. Again being able to dock and grab a bite was perfect. read more

The great views don't really save this place, unfortunately. I will say that it was obvious that they were understaffed when we were there, so I'm not singing them for that. The bartender and servers and host were all kicking butt. The food however was pretty mediocre. Definitely skip the Bistro Filet. It is a touuuugh cut of meat. The baked potato was a bit underdone. The cheese curds were nothing exemplary. The lobster tail, which was $40, came out cold with no drawn butter, so it had to be sent back. I bet their lunch is better. read more

We came at noon on a Friday and the place was packed. We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks before lunch. I had a pineapple and jalapeño vodka cocktail which was very good. Ordered a chicken Cesar salad which normally doesn't have eggs but had hard boiled eggs. So good !!!!!! My husband had a black and blue burger which he said was to die for. We ate inside but you can sit outside too. Service was fast after we ordered. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area !! read more

Supper club atmosphere on the water. Went on a Tuesday night with family. Sat inside at a spacious table with a view of the water. Service was friendly and attentive. Meal started with a selection of spreadable cheese and crackers. Salads and warm bread followed ... standard side salads with dressing on the side. One person had the corn chowder soup. All of us had broiled walleye. I had mine with extra blackened seasoning. Slabs were a good size and cooked perfectly. We all had loaded baked potatoes ... not much excitement with our order, but I can assure you we were all in the "clean plate" club by the end of the meal. The kids had macaroni and cheese, and split chicken strips. Both serving were enough to share. Our server was very good and her assistant attended to the table needs constantly. Highly recommend without any reservations. Suggest a reservation because the place is busy even on a Tuesday night. Very good value and high quality meals. read more

When a Wisco supper club is firing on all 8 cylinders, it's a thing of beauty and a joy forever. This place is one of those. Right on the lake, the view is wonderful. The place was jammed to the max-we didn't have reservations, and we waited for a while to get seated. Good thing the bartenders know their shit. Had a Sazerac (surprised to see this cocktail so far North, but damned if the guy didn't make a proper one). Switched to Brandy Old Fashioned--a heroic pour, and perfectly made. A badge of honor for a Wisconsin Supper club! Hungarian Mushroom Soup was offered, and it was super tasty--was almost tempted to order a second bowl. Had Walleye for Entree, it was fabulous--Wife had a Filet Mignon, she reported the same. We were with another couple and the bill wasn't too far above the Century mark. I should be more excited, being as it's the first time I've been in a restaurant in over a year because of the "troubles." Hostess and server (same) was genial, seated us on the (enclosed) patio with a view of the lake. Fairly good selection of tap, craft, and bottle beers. Complementary cracker basket, corn bread, and two soft cheeses. Opted for onion rings appetizer, thick beer batter, side of ranch. I ordered the "special" which they called "Baby Walleye" which were actually strips off a filet, light seasoned breading, adequate size serving, which I enjoyed. Extruded fries don't do anything for me. Creamy coleslaw and baked beans were included accompaniments. Friend ordered a burger, which was your standard machine patty frozen food service type, nothing special, no seasoning. Prices were reasonable, with the exception of I thought the appetizers were high, but I suppose restaurant owners feel they have to make up for the slow times they are coming out of. When we arrived, I thought they were doing a good job of social distancing, but it was a misconception, every other table when we arrived, but as the evening went on, they filled every table, certainly less than six feet. Which was really my only disappointment. The walleye was worth the stop! read more

We were given an herb butter and cheese tray as well as crackers, the bread did not come until 10 to 15 minutes later, but we were not made aware of that.. They have a great beer selection as well as wine and cocktails. Our waitress went out of her way to show us certain tequilas that they had in stock by bringing them on a tray to our table. Service was poor. Our waitress Bailey only came by us when taking our order and delivering our food. When we asked a question about the menu it took her 15 minutes to return with an answer and there was only one other table present. The food was fine and fresh but I just would have wished for better service while taking my cousin out for his birthday. Seemed to be one of the nicer restaurants in this small town. We came at an odd time (4pm), which ensured a table looking over the lake. Everything on the menu seems a little overpriced for small town Wisconsin and it gave off the vibe that they were trying to be higher end than they really are. Our server seemed very rushed even though he only had a couple tables occupied. We were never given the specials for the day and had no idea there were any until a server at a nearby table was explaining them to her table. The beer list was decent and we were able to try some local Wisconsin craft beer. I ordered the Filet of Oscar and enjoyed it. It was cooked how I requested and the asparagus was nicely cooked as well. Overall, quality food but seemed pricey for what you get. Service was just average and the decor could use some updates. We have been here 3 times for lunch. Always have been seated promptly. Service is attentive and helpful. This place is gorgeous inside and my kids absolutely love the boats on the ceiling. Bar is a stunning piece of work and if you are lucky enough to get a window seat, the view is fantastic. We have run through the menu from burgers, to fish and sandwiches and everything has been very good. Their Hungarian mushroom soup was outstanding. This place just has a great vibe. The water was really pretty outside the windows but also blinding. $70 on a lunch for two people that we threw in the garbage is a shame. Don't waste your time. It felt like food you'd be served at an old folks home. No sodium. No flavor. No excitement or color. We tried "the Boathouse" which was a sad excuse for a French dip with flavorless au jus to match the flavorless meat.
