When buying our home in Tahoe, our realtor recommended we get a radon inspection performed, since…read moreit can often be an issue around these parts. Turns out our levels were 85! For reference, the WHO recommends mitigation for anything over 2.7, and the EPA recommends mitigation for anything over 4. Said differently: we had levels over 30x what the WHO considers to be risky. Pretty sure if we lived in the house with the levels at 85, our risk for developing lung cancer would be higher than a smoker who went through a carton per day. Prior to this event, we'd never even heard of radon or the risk it can pose. We seriously considered not buying the home at all - the risks being what they are. However, after speaking with Cameron, he talked us through how the mitigation would work, and provided a written guarantee that he'd get the home under the WHO recommended levels (2.7). For those curious, the mitigation is effectively to put a thick layer of plastic under the entire home that traps the radon (preventing it from rising into the home), and then a fan that pulls that air out and blows it away from the home. With Cameron's reassurance and education, we felt comfortable proceeding with the purchase, and are glad we did. As of this writing, the radon in the home is .9 (yes, that's a decimal place in front of the 9... as in, less than 1). Again, we started at 85... the radon here now is less than our prior home's levels (after learning about radon, we purchased a detector to learn what our old home levels were, and they'd range anywhere from 1.3-3ish). Granted, the levels do fluctuate - some days it'll be up to 1.7, depending on barometric pressure (lower ambient pressure pulls more gasses up from the ground) and other factors. We couldn't be happier with the results, and are glad to have had Cameron's patience and willingness to help educate and guide us through the process. Furthermore, he was able to perform the work on an expedited timeline, and also did some additional work under the house (replacing our furnace flue) that needed to get done while in the crawlspace at an extremely reasonable rate. Again, could not be happier with the experience, and really appreciate everything Cameron and his team have done along this stressful journey. I'd 100% recommend them in an instant to anyone needing any work done in relation to radon.

I woke up today feeling awful. I asked him if the toilet leak could be causing that. He said "I dunno, it looks nasty."' I showed him the vanity. He didn't even get down and actually look IN it. He just peeked inside from afar. Then i showed him another room and said that it's musty smelling and said I think mold spores are coming in from the atrium. he said mold spores can't come in through an arcadia door. That's when I knew for sure he had NO idea what he's talking about. I called someone else when he left, and right over the phone she said "of course the back up from the toilet could be making you feel sick. There's bacteria and maybe mold in there.' Ahhh. So much more pro sounding than 'that's nasty.' He also didn't have the thermal imaging camera OR the moisture meter they said they use. What a big rip-off. Luckily i sent him away soon enough that we didn't pay with money but leaving two elderly women like this now for another week is nasty.

I tried to explain to her that I have email from the insurance that they paid this bill. You might wonder why they did not get it? Well, today's investigation showed that this business has a wrong physical address posted to their Tax ID so the check went to the wrong address. The owner was not surprised about how his employee talked to me, he called her " being effective " in getting his money. Moreover, he was aware of incorrect address. I would highly recommend avoiding to work with this company. Unless you like to be yelled and threatened. There was no reason for her to treat me like a criminal. I am a teacher, I am a professional and I pay all my bills on time!

I never received the invoice because Allstate was handling my claim at the time, but she refused to send me the invoice again so that I can actually pay it. Based on reading all of these reviews, she should not be allowed to contact the clients of this company and she should learn how to mail an invoice to a customer before calling and harassing people, threatening with collections. A little kindness and some actual effort in doing her job would go a long way.

Our experience was far from the peace of mind promised by the company's slogan, and the consequences of the oversights during our inspection have been costly, frustrating, and stressful. 1. Incomplete Attic Inspection Mr. Neumark failed to inspect the attic entirely because the entrance was located above the washer and dryer in the laundry room. Although the current homeowners gave full consent to move the units--an easy task requiring no more than shifting them five inches--Mr. Neumark refused. Our realtor ultimately moved them without issue, but only after we insisted that the attic be inspected. Even then, the inspector was visibly annoyed that we requested he complete the job. 2. Rodent Infestation Overlooked Despite noting droppings in the garage, Mr. Neumark inaccurately concluded they were old and that there was no active infestation. Within 24 hours of moving in, we discovered a live family of mice in the garage. Additionally, there were mouse droppings in the attic--completely omitted from his report--confirming an active and ongoing rodent problem that should not have been missed. 3. Bathtub Leak Ignored The secondary bathroom's bathtub leaked significantly the first time we used it, causing water damage to the floor. The inspector claimed he could not properly assess it for fear of damaging the facade. However, upon closer inspection, we found it was secured by only six easily removable screws. It took us less than a minute to confirm the leak ourselves. This lack of effort was inexcusable. 4. Structural Oversight A large, gaping hole--about the size of a football--was left unnoticed under the eaves near the back patio door. Nesting birds, feathers, and debris made it clear this had been an ongoing issue, yet it was not mentioned in the report. This type of structural vulnerability should have been immediately flagged by any qualified inspector. 5. Incorrect and Costly Radon Advice We were incorrectly advised that installing a vapor barrier in our crawl space would resolve elevated radon levels. Based on this recommendation, we paid $1,200 to a local pest control company--only to find out it did nothing to fix the issue. A professional radon specialist later explained that proper ventilation is required, which cost us nearly $5,000. This misinformation was both costly and dangerous. Conclusion The inspection felt rushed and careless. Critical issues that any competent home inspector should have identified were either ignored or misdiagnosed. The inspector appeared more interested in finishing quickly than in ensuring our home was safe and sound. We strongly caution others against using TEK Inspections. In our opinion, this company is not committed to its slogan or to providing the level of diligence and professionalism that homebuyers deserve.

Elisa got the site visit scheduled on short notice despite shifting time windows imposed by the developer; she promptly submitted the insurance, bonding and certification documentation required by the developer; she resolved last minute snafus that threatened to cancel the inspection. Ty arrived on site at the appointed time and inspected the home systems thoroughly during the builder-limited 3 hour window. The inspection included IR inspection of appliances, drone inspection of the roof (since developer denied physical access), and physical inspection of crawl and attic spaces. Ty's report was available in less than 24 hours. The report included photos of every nook and cranny inspected, indications of proper and deficient findings, as well recommendations for deficient findings. Recommended.

They assessed, told we needed dryers and remediation and repairs and they would act as an intermediary between us and the insurance company and not to worry the insurance company would handle the bill. All we would have to handle would be the deductible. NONE of that was true the insurance company denied the claim. We cancelled before they did ANYTHING. Now Ecodry is trying to stick us with $2500.00 bill for a free assessment charged as an emergency call out, administrative fees, fuel surcharge and testing fees and left us with a hole in our wall where they cut drywall out for the testing. Come to find out they did the same thing to our In laws. I filed a complaint with the AG today. If anyone else has fallen victim to this predatory company, I suggest they also file a complaint with the AG.

Once they finally did send an invoice it was delivered via nastygram with a threat of collections. Who treats people like that? Chauntel was very helpful and informative about radon. We set up to have the house mitigated. Daniel and Mike work a few days getting our home safer. They were on time, respectful, friendly and told us what they were doing. Left everything clean. After the mitigation was completed, our home has significantly less radon than prior to the installation. Very impressed with the entire team and highly recommended them.
