It has to have been at least 10 years since I had my air ducts and dryer vent cleaned. During that time, I had some inside work done, so I knew it was time to get it done again. I had used Chuck and Mary Jane before and was very happy with their work, plus they are a small, local business! Thankfully, in another review, someone mentioned their name, as I wasn't sure of the company's name. I called, getting Mary Jane on the phone with her perky voice! Mary Jane gave me a quick initial quote for 10 vents and let me know how much any additional vents would cost, and that the dryer vent was part of the package. I requested a quote for the air duct and dryer vent cleaning a few months ago. Of all the quotes that I received, Fresh Air Systems Duct Cleaning was the most responsive. Their fee is also very reasonable, with the dryer vent cleaning for free with the air ducts cleaned. They're a privately owned small business consisting of an office manager/coordinator (owner wife - Mary Jane) and a 2-person cleaning crew (owner husband - Charles, and assistant Sean (or Shawn?). Because of the quality work that they do and being a small business owned, the appt was made about 3 months ago to have the work done today. They were able to come an hour earlier than originally planned because we have another event to attend to this afternoon. They came right on time to the new, earlier time and got the job done in less than 2.5 hours (for a house that's about 2,000 sf). They were organized, meticulous, and very efficient with the vacuuming if the return air system, air ducts, and dryer vent. They were also very friendly (Charles grew up in Sparks) and a pleasure doing business with. I highly recommend this business. The process was well explained over the phone and the pricing was straight forward. They will want to know how many vents, air returns, and furnaces you have in your home for a more accurate quote. The dryer vent was cleaned too. They were working hard for a few hours. They showed me the before and after. The air return was not a pretty site. The air quality outside has been bad all summer due to the fires near by, so don't forget to change your air filters! Did you know you are supposed to get your air ducts and vents cleaned at least every 2 years? I sure didn't until Chuck and Mary Jane from Fresh Air Systems told me. I was initially referred to them by a fellow yelper/friend that had used them a few years ago. I finally made the call to use their services when the dust was getting bad at my house. I don't know why I didn't call them sooner. Chuck and Mary Jane are really good at what they do and they are meticulous in making sure the Job is done right. The whole process took about 3 hours for them to clean 11 vents, 1 cold return, 1 furnace, the duct system turbo vacuumed, as well as cleaned the dryer vent. They laid out tarps and covered any surrounding furniture with plastic to protect it during the process. They explained each step of what they were doing as they were doing it and really educated me on the cleaning process. They also showed me how to properly install the cold return filter which we had installed upside down the last time we had replaced it. When they cleaned the dryer vent they found that the dryer tubing was broken and all the lint had built up behind the dryer, yikes (fire hazard)! They were prepared and had spare dryer tubing that they installed for $20. They cleaned up afterwards and had me walk each room to make sure everything was clean. All I can say is if you need your ducts and vents cleaned, call Chuck and Mary Jane at Fresh Air Systems to do the job. This company is top notch. We had a snow storm problem with dust. They cleaned the ducts but the main problem persisted. They came out again and found our dryer vent had a hole in it in addition to being not tightly connected. Thinking that would solve the problem they left. The problem still persisted so they came back out a 3rd time. After an inspection of our attic area, it was found that not everything was connected and a piece of wood had blocked a portion of the duct system. These folks will work till they try to fix the problem even if it actually has nothing to do with your ducts. They never asked for more $$$$ beyond the initial duct cleaning. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. I need my air vents cleaned professionally at least once a year. I searched on yelp and have used Groupon before. I found carpet cleaners I am sure they could do the job, and i would be pleased but would have to suffer threw be upsold on something I did not need. I wanted a professional air duct cleaning and that is what I got. I have had other people come out and wanted to charge separately for dryer vent cleaning so I have not had it done before. My allergies have been a nightmare this year and I finally decided to try home air duct cleaning which, to be totally honest, I had originally thought was probably a waste of money. Not only is it NOT a waste of money but I'm telling every person I know, allergies or not, to get it done ASAP! I called around to every company I could find in town and this company not only got me in very quick, but at a very reasonable price. Based on my research you should expect to pay at least a few hundred dollars for a very small home, and expect to pay more for a larger home with more ducts, which seems pricey until you see the effort and time it takes to really get all of that clean. Not only were the team that showed up extremely professional and thorough, but they are also the owners of the business, and have been doing this for over 20 years in this area. I love supporting talented and hardworking local businesses and this is certainly one of them. I expected them to pull out mountains of dust bunnies, but was shocked and disgusted when they pulled out mounds of old mouse nests made from insulation crammed in around the ducts . Gross! I didn't even realize that could happen! For four years I've been sitting under rotting mouse nests, circulating that air through my home, and I had no idea. They got the old nests out and sealed up the vents to ensure it wouldn't happen again. Every vent was hand washed, they even sealed a hole they found in my attic, and left my house cleaner than they started. The service included cleaning out my dryer line which vents to the roof. People say you can clean your own dryer line but I don't see how I could have done the job nearly as well as they did, and now, no exaggeration, my dryer is vastly more efficient. I had to run my dryer on the highest setting for two hours TWICE to dry one load of laundry; now I run it on the half hour medium heat setting once to dry a load of laundry. The cost savings for that alone will pay for the service I just had completed by Fresh Air Systems.
